The sonic sunglasses I am told came about because Mr. Capaldi wanted to make it easier for poorer children to dress as The Doctor: simple suit and specs anyone can pick up at a thrift store. He is always thinking of the working class like that. Props to him for being an inspiration to us all.
@@MrDerpySheep I think it's more to do with how much more gimmicky the sunglasses feel compared to the screwdriver which has a distinct visual identity that you recognise and associate with what it does, rather than sunglasses that can do all these nonsense things
@@db5094true but what about the 6th Doctors Sonic Lance, or 7th Doctors umbrella (which is speculated to be a sonic umbrella like Missy's) or looking at the wider spectrum the 5th Doctors celery which turns purple whenever there's any thing in the air that could harm the Doctor, like he was ment to be allergic to certain things in certain atmospheres but it was bad enough it could kill him/force him to regenerate, the Doctor would then eat the celery which would protect him, or the 4th Doctors iconic scarf, Doctor Who has a long tradition of weaving in the whimsy so I actually loved the sonic sunglasses for the reasons everyone else hates them, I just look back through the shows history and point out everything I just pointed out as counter arguments in favour of the sonic shades

Peter Capaldi is amazing. No arguing that. I will say, however, that Peter Capaldi was not “hated” by everyone. There was a drop off in viewers by the general audience, sure, but there were plenty of plans who loved Capaldi. The premise here is way off.
its not way off. who fans know capaldi is beloved but his run had the lowest ratings in all of new who so to the average person he looks like the least popular new who doctor. “most hated” is obviously a clickbaity way of putting it but its not so wrong (coming from someone whose favorite doctor is 12)
I would honestly have to disagree. I remember me and my grandma both complaining that he was not young and sexy anymore when we watched the regeneration as it happened. I just re-watched it with my boyfriend this year, this time I loved Peter Capaldi! but even my boyfriend complained that he’s old and he acts older 😂
Put in RUclips Peter Capaldi Dreamboys This is Peter singing & playing guitar, in his Punk Rock days of the 19.80s :) Awesome stuff :) \m/ Peter was awesome ! He was also a life long fan of Dr Who :)
Series 8 was 1971/72. Get your facts correct when you talk about something that I have followed since "The Auton Invasion" when Jon Pertwee was The Doctor
"His portrayal of the doctor is THE DOCTOR" Completely agree. Whenever I imagine the Doctor and the incarnation isn't specified, I always give them The Eyebrows.
Capaldi's chemistry with Michelle Gomez was magical, and she was the most brilliant incarnation of the Master, bar none. I loved Capaldi's Doctor from the off, just found his portrayal so deep and nuanced. Great acting aside, his era didn't peak until series #9, which was a wonder. That said, serues #8's The Caretaker is like a masterclass in comedy acting, and easily the funniest Dr Who episode ever broadcast.
God, yeah. Michelle's use of voice and movement gripped me from the word 'Helloooo!' in Deep Breath. She was in such stark contrast to the themes of acceptance and loss. She just got even more hilarious especially when she tried to impersonate the Doctor in 'World Enough Time'.
Id say she was the best and on Par with Delgado, and in some respects surpassed that as Delgado Master was supposed to go out being redeemed and Michelles Missy did but She was certainly the best since Delgado
Capaldi and Tom Baker will always be my top two. Clara and Sarah Jane top two companions. Brigadier and Wilfred Mott. The doctors most faithful followers. Rose, ruby, Martha and Jack. Most loyal friends. Donna Noble best friend. Those people made Dr who worth watching.
At the time I remember thinking that Capaldi was like one of the finest doctors we ever got. Writing wise in series 8 and 9 it was quite hit or miss but his final series was so good, I feel like Moffat final gave him the consistent season he deserved. Now he's my favourite Doctor, him or Troughton.
The thing about this doctor is that at first he is blunt, like, really blunt. He doesn't understand the concept of kindness, but by the end, he is the encarnation of it.
Correction he doesn't understand niceness you don't have to be nice to be kind, Capaldis Doctor understood that perfectly he could do the right thing, the kind thing, but he could be harsh to those around him or abrasive or rude or even downright terrifying while doing it.
Epitomised by the Into The Dalek episode where Clara calls herself his carer and he responds with "She cares so I don't have to" which is so contrary to later Capaldi
@@sorrrbet4923 another thing you reminded me of with this is that people always complain about how mid season he goes back to his blunt ways but mate try not being what you are and not falling back to your old ways
You know it sucks. As soon as Capaldi was announced there were tons of "fans" left the show literally because of his age. And it was so stupid and shallow. Capaldi's Doctor is my favorite. Period. This era of Doctor Who was so gratifying to watch.
As someone who liked Capaldi from the beginning and thought his era was great as I was watching it (though season 8 was a bit hit or miss), I would just like to humbly and with humility say.... I FREAKING TOLD YOU SOOOOO!!!!!!
Wouldn’t it be great if Doctor Who did a Dallas and Peter Capaldi just woke up and said “I’ve got to lay off the scotch” - it was all a lurid, alcohol-induced dream.
@@Mojo1356I’m glad you like it. but the problem is that they’ve lost 70-80% of their fanbase. What they did to make it appealing to a few has created a show that cannot survive.
@@cf87849 I didn’t say that I liked all of what came after Capaldi. No- if anything, Giggle and Yonder are among the only 2 episodes that I felt could compare to the eras before Whittaker.
While Capaldi had an average start, the longer his hair grown, the better as the Doctor he was. He truly loved this role and put all of himself into it, even if it meant having the sonic sunglasses or the guitar, it was done with passion. Capaldi was just awesome and I really wish to see him again in DW. Also, he had a completely different intro after the super emotional 11th regen, together with him being a crazy demented man for half the episode (yes I know how it works with the Doctor, sad he no longer has that state), that made it hard for people, me included, to like him off the start. He felt too dark, too serious, but as time passed and we saw him riding a tank to a battle for fun, yet how he argued with Missy in the finale, man he was great. I honestly think he could stay for longer.
Peter capaldi is actually the reason I started watching Doctor who. His portrayal and acting was beautiful. And funny enough (I am straight)I find him so Damn sexy.. it’s those Silver Foxes, gets me every time
The worst detractors of Doctor Who ARE the fans themselves. They're never happy and refuse to move on. Personally, I loved the whole 12th Doctor playing the guitar; and while there were many dark moments; there were plenty of moments of dry, snarky humour that made Peter Capaldi's 12th Doctor compelling to watch. So many people didn't get the 12th Doctor's arc in series 8, he was on a discovery to find out who he truly was, and stripped away the niceities. However, despite how abrasive he was in series 8, he was kind and helped people, even if he came across as being pissed off for doing so. Also, I NEVER understood the hate toward the character of Clara Oswald, she was the character that was needed to hold the 12th Doctor accountable and call him out on his shit, especially in series 8 where he was abrasive as fuck. People forget that the Doctor being alone is a BAD thing, he almost always ends up doing something dangerous and/or stupid. Look at what he said he'd do to Me if she couldn't take back the Raven from Clara. Clara was his safety valve. I think a lot of people just don't like the fact that a woman was at times calling out the 12th Doctor on his shitty behaviour and to paraphrase the Master "to bring the Doctor to heel" Personally I think a lot of Doctor Who fans hated Clara because they were sad middle-aged misogynists who hated the idea of a woman telling a man what to do. Even know I rewatch the 12th Doctor's episodes far more often than any other Doctor as he was truly excellent in the role.
I was a Twelfth Doctor fan since the beginning. He was the first Doctor I watched as he was coming out on TV. I stayed as I watched many of my friends drop the show saying they didn’t like him (primarily because he was old). I always loved him, even from Series 8 he was my favorite Doctor. I dressed up as his Doctor for 3 Halloweens. His Doctor will always hold a special place in my heart. He was my Doctor.
Peter was a fan of the show as a child and young man. You see his interpretations of William Hartnell, Tom Baker and Jon Pertwee's Doctors. His work with Jenna Coleman was magnificent; a veteran at the top of his game and a star on the rise who played three different versions of herself on the show. The trilogy "Face the Raven"/"Heaven Sent"/"Hell Bent" is as good as it gets, with "Heaven Sent" a master class in acting as he carries the entire show, except for that one moment where Coleman helps put him back on track. They remain my favorite pairing.
Series 10 is my favorite season. Capaldi was at his best and his chemistry with Michelle was amazing. I think the average fan now loves Capaldi because the avarage fan was young when he aired. Now the fans are older and mature and can understand 12 better. I love the sunglasses and guitar, and my favorite episode of all Doctor Who ever has got to be Twice Upon a Time
I confess to being a 71 year old Whovian and Sammuel's observations and opinions remind me of a particular line in a one man play performed by the actor Hal Holbrook when he protrayed Mark Twain. Mark Twain's line goes something like this. " When I was 16 years old, I thought my father was the dumbest person alive. When I turned twenty, I was amazed at how much smarter my father had become in 4 years. I throughly enjoyed Matt Smith's Doctor. But everyone has a particular Doctor they call their own. The 12th Doctor is my Doctor and always will be.
I have to say yes, I was regrettably also one of the viewers who hated Capaldi at first. He didn't resonate with me, and I think I was still butt-hurt over losing my doctor, Matt Smith. It wasn't long after he regenerated, though, that my affection grew, and as you stated on a re-watch, I started to love him more and more. He is still not my favourite doctor, but he is such an amazing actor and brings a wonderful new perspective to the character that just fits in so well. I have so much respect for him now!
It feels so bizzare that since Tennant left each doctor specifically smith and capaldi started with huge fan hate but people either grow to love them by the end or after a rewatch
I'd argue the only "hardcore viewers" that hated him were mostly New Who-only fans who only knew the Doctor (and only wanted him to be) this hyperactive, super-smiley, super-friendly, cuddle-bug type of character*. Classic Who, having more Doctors at the time, had a wider range of personalities and types for the character. Capaldi was very much in line with Doctor Who, not just by doing a hard 180 from the previous Doctor, but also his coldness and tetchy personality. Some of the people who only watched Tennant and Smith didn't realize this could happen. From what I've seen, most who loved the Classics loved Capaldi almost instantly. *Which is why I disagree when you say Tennant and Smith are nothing alike. If anything, Day of the Doctor shows off how they're really quite similar. And Smith could get really dark!
I always liked Capaldi, it took until the final episodes to really like him, and to season 9 to LOVE him. Capaldi was always in my top 4, and by season 10 was and is in contention with Pertwee as my favourite Doctor, and Missy overtook Delgado as my favourite Master in series 10. Capaldi did have some weak episodes, and I am still not keen on Danny Pink, but I get what it went for. But his highs are some of the highest in the whole run. I love this mad man with a box and a screwdriver and a fondness for earthlings, and I’m glad more people are realising how amazing we had it!
I honestly felt like I was in an alternate universe for a long time, people kept referring to 12’s era as a jumping the shark moment, when to me, he was the best New Who Doctor by far, and his episodes past s8 were possibly the most consistently good. I’m glad he’s had a re-evaluation overall, it’s very similar to how Troughton was widely disliked in his day for being such a departure from Hartnell, but is now regarded as possibly the definitive Doctor in many ways.
As a fan of classic who from watching it with my grandfather on pbs in the 90s, i loved capaldi almost immediately. It took till that shot of him looking at the camera after the automaton 'fell'. That look or pure rage and uter remorse sold me. He reminded me of classic doctors, but modernized. He became my absolute favorite Doctor after the first 2 episodes of season 9. That bit where he saves kid davros was amazing.
"Do you think I care for you so little that betraying me would make a difference?" is the exact moment I fell in love with Capaldi's doctor... and also playing guitar on a tank 😎
I've never hated him (worth to notice I started watching Doctor Who since 2018 from Eccelston era), furthermore, he became my favourite Doctor. I was really suprised to learn that he was hated
David Tennant and Peter Capaldi’s Doctors are still the only ones that INSTANTLY clicked with me. Ofc overtime I grew to like the majority of the other actor’s takes on the Doctor but those two will always be at the top for me.
For fans of old school Who like me. Capaldi instantly became their doctor of the modern era because the dude totally harkened back to that era with how he presented his doctor. For modern Who fans who were more used to the comdy elements of Tennant and Matt Smith. It was a jarring transition to go from those two to a more serious, stern take on the character. So he had to grow on them.
Early on, when the Doctor said, “Clara, I’m not your boyfriend,” and she responded, “I never thought you were.” He says, “I never said it was your mistake.” At THAT MOMENT, I loved Capaldi’s Doctor. And he only got better from there.
Heaven Sent is one of the greatest episodes of Dr Who ever. I also loved how they made the 12th doctor old since the 11th Doctor's story arch started with him being young and naive and as his character developed he got worn down by events to the point where he acts like a crotchety old man. So when he regenerated into the 12th doctor he outwardly looks like how he inwardly felt.
The problem with Capaldis Doctor wasn't Capaldi it was the shows obsession with Clara that made the Doctor second fiddle in his own show. I feel like I never really got to know him.. Also we never got those behind the scene outtakes of the Doctor just dropping those F bombs..if you know you know ..if you dont for the love of god go watch In the Loop
Personally, I believe 12th Doctor became the exact construct of the Doctor himself. Every time I think of how Doctor lives, his styles of living - Peter Capaldi perfectly catches up all the pictures I imagine Almost each episode I adore the most in the show was shot with Capaldi
I admit I was skeptical at first when he first appeared after the regeneration however the moment I saw his first trailer "I'm the doctor I'm over 2000 years old" and "am I a good man?" The moment I heard those lines, I was like," This is the doctor"
I loved it when Capaldi was announced as 12. What I didn’t realize was that he would surpass Tenant and eventually became my FAVORITE Doctor. I’m happy everyone’s loving 12 and have been reevaluating his 3 series more.
As someone who is has just got into Doctor Who and is almost completed binging ever episode from 9-15, I just got to 15 to get into the fandom to cosplay 9,10,11,12 with friends I wasn’t immediately in love with 12 but he grew on me in a few episodes like by two episode. I loved him and I cryed just as hard as I did for 11 and 10 and 9 when they regenerated. they just have to grow on you sometimes.
I wouldn’t say it was hated while he was airing I would more say that the casting was hated because of his age and a lot of people didnt bother to watch that being said bar the few eps at most 3 I would say most people who watched it actually enjoyed it and it became even better like with most of Moffat’s run after it’s conclusion. For me I just remember noticing that he suddenly became my Doctor(the doctor I immediately think of when thinking of the doctor) during his first season and since no one and I don’t think anyone will be able to top or change that. I think how he embodies ever past Doctor while being unique in of himself just make him to me in terms of looks, personality, demeanour etc the purest form of the Doctor. Plus he is definitely imo the best actor to play it he like DT and Ncuti were born to play the Doctor they just have that naturally aura (not saying other don’t but they have it more so from the off)
I dunno, I would say a lot of fans still hated Colin Baker's era more, but luckily his era has had a lot of reevaluation recently, thanks to the likes of dwfan91.
Also the big finish audio stories definitely rehabilitated audience looking at Colin Baker as the Doctor. He was great, but the writing was horrible in the show. Big Finish gave him some great stories and he's amazing in it.
Cycle of showrunner hate is a real thing. Newest thing will always be the most hated until something newer comes along. Peter Capaldis era was great despite a few admittedly poor episodes. Hopefully in years to come people will realise that Jodie Whittakers isn't as terrible as previously assumed either. I'm glad that I got to witness in real time the shift in the consensus
Yep exactly, I've rewatched jodie as of recent and although it definitely still isn't my favourite or for me, I had a real appreciation for some of the episodes like demons of the punjab and jodie herself.
No. Jodi’s episodes still suck in general regardless. She does a fine job playing the role though. Alas, the one person that needs to get past the cycle more than anything is Gnuti himself. I have super high hopes after falling in love with his performance in “The Giggle”, but of course, people scream woke and gay wah wah.
Deep Breath is my favorite post-regeneration episode. His grumpiness was endearing. Angry eyebrows, cracked me up. His speech about war in the Zygon Inversion was powerful. Heaven Sent was literally a 45 minute monologue and might be the best episode in the shows history. Michelle Gomez as The Master was the perfect foil for Capaldi. Missy had a beautiful, bittersweet redemption arc. I watched each week, more and more sure that Missy was gonna turn on the Doctor by the end. The Doctor was expecting it himself. It’s heartbreaking that the Doctor will never know that in the end, Missy had chosen to stand by his side against the Cybermen, she was done running. Her remorse was real. Capaldi became my favorite Doctor pretty much from his first episode. I never understood the hate the fanbase had for him. Same thing with Donna, the fanbase REALLY hated her and she’s my favorite companion. Don’t know when it changed but I’ve noticed a LOT more people like her character than when season 4 was current. Capaldi’s Doctor was Star Trek. He was thoughtful and preferred to talk his way out of trouble instead of using force. I’d put Eccleston in this category too. Matt Smith and David Tennent were more Star Wars. Flashy, in your face, fast-paced.
I loved Matt. After his run, I stopped for some time. Didn't like the idea of an older doctor (yeah, I know he "started" as old). And then I started watching, and I think he was amazing! Amazing actor, and some amazing stories with him!
Capaldi’s been my favorite since the attack eyebrows got revealed in Day of the Doctor. I’m so excited that more people are finally coming around to him.
I think public opinion of Gatwa’s Doctor will pull a 180 once his seasons are out. I wasn’t particularly fond of The Church on Ruby Road, but his performance elevated every scene he was in.
I never stopped watching the show (until mid way through series 11) but it took me until the beginning of Capaldi's second series to really start liking him, he just didn't click until then. Ever since then he's been up there with my absolute favorites, top 3 of all time.
I like to think our opinion of capaldis doctor is the same as Clara’s through the seasons, we start off not liking him because he was cold but over time as capaldis doctor changes so does our opinion
I liked the 12th from the beginning, he is my second favorite right behind 11, i find it hilarious that 13's run made people like 12's more, its not jodie's fault...its the showrunners fault
That’s so interesting to me. I binge watched Doctor Who for the first time years after their release, and I immediately took a liking to 12. Right from his regeneration sickness, writing out calculus in chalk all over the floors and walls lol. His super toxic relationship with Clara was also very compelling to me, hit me in a place that was altogether too real and raw. Fascinating to me that at the time people didn’t like Clara or 12. Great video!
I didn’t stop watching at Peter Capaldi. But David Tennant was my first doctor. I’d only had young doctors. So I didn’t give him a fair chance. And you are pretty much bang on, I just finished my rewatch of NewWho (I’m not watching 13. Stopping at Twice Upon a Time.), and I genuinely love his run. And whilst I think I love Matt Smith’s companions more than Peter Capaldi’s overall. I’m certain that the actual writing and story was so much better in Capaldi’s run than Smith’s.
Honestly, I didn't liked him in his first season just because I felt that he was needlessly rude. Even mean at some points. But when his first season arc was finished, and he allowed himself to be more goofy and lovable, he instantly felt like the Doctor to me, and even became my second favorite version of the character.
"Listen" became an instant top 5 episode of Doctor Who for me back in 2014. The hiatus between s9 and s10 made me slowly drop the show until i came back last year to finish all the seasons just in time for the 60th anniversary specials. Capaldi's Doctor didn't start off by being my favourite but claims that spot in my heart today. The arc he went on to become the man that he is in Twice Upon a Time affected me the most out of all the Doctor stories in Nuwho so far. I'm happy he's now getting recognized as one of the greats but it saddens me how many made Capaldi feel like he wasn't beloved enough. (same for jodie, fans are awful)
I really enjoyed him on my first watch-through, and by the second he has become my favorite. I feel him searching for identity, his place in good and evil, as well as redemption, and his ability to persevere and change is what made his Doctor so much stronger. I think we saw a hint of this towards the end of the 10th's run, but not to this extent. There was just so much passion and emotion just bursting from Capaldi. I really hope to see him again in a special.
The Twelfth Doctor is my favourite Doctor, Capaldi is the actor I've looked at that has immediately screamed the Doctor for me. It'd have to be a major miracle for Capaldi to be knocked down from my top spot.
I absolutely love this man, I think Peter is the best actor among the Doctors (not meant to be disrespectful)… the amount of nuances he portrays just by his eyebrows is crazy lol. He’s amazing in Devils Hour, and it’s fantastic that in real life he considers himself as the Doctor too. He really gave his heart to this performance and it shows
@beffjuckley that's how I feel about all of Tennants Era. Waaaaaayyyy overrated until Donna shows up and then pretty good. I've always liked Moffatt more. I wouldn't call Chibnals Era disappointing per se but I respect that. It was just very different and refreshing, I loved Graham, there was a very good version of the Master and the production quality was by far the best we had ever seen in who. I also loved how much care for the original series was put into it. Especially Power of The Doctor.
Pater Capaldi has been one of my favorite Doctors, pretty much even from the start. The two companions Clara and was it Billy? they both kinda hit certain points that i disliked however. What I wanted more of though was Missy and the Doctor. Specifically her trying to be "good" but doing it in a bad way.
I remember signing up for a DW club and was SHOCKED to see that practically 3/4th said 12 was their favourite. Back in the day, everybody hated him, and acted like you're weird for liking him.
Peter Capaldi is the best Morden doctor ever I loved his era way back from 2014-2017 I don’t know why people hated this doctor but I never did the 10th doctor era I don’t like apart from the later half of series 3-4 I don’t like the hole lovely Dovey stuff with him and rose and the end of time just ruins his arc for me The 11th doctor matt smith is my 2nd favourite doctor and era for the Morden who
I never hated the Capaldi era, series 8 and 9 are my favorites. And 12's dynamic with Clara was the best ever. I find the fan girl reaction to when Capaldi was first introduced as the new Doctor hilarious! 😅 As if the main purpose of the Doctor was only to be young and cute (hello people, the character is over 2,000 years old!!!). 12 's relationship with Clara was the most complex and, realistic between the Doctor and a Companion, and there wasn't any need for sexual tension between them like what happened with earlier Doctors. Only Capaldi could have pulled off Heaven Sent like he did, the best episode in Who ever in my opinion. It's good to see some fans are coming back around to appreciate his era again. 👍
I must confess, when I got into doctor who I wanted nothing to do with Capaldi because he didn't interest me, but as time went on and mostly because I got bored and had already seen everything else I decided to give him a chance and ever since then he has slowly been climbing up my list to the point he's now competing in the final 3, or even final 2, for who is my favourite doctor.
I'm one of those people who stopped watching sometime during Capaldi's run. I was in my teens (13-16) when he was on the show and I was still used to the fun and quirkiness of the previous three Doctors. Although, it's not like the show had never gone dark before. I'm currently rewatching the entire series on Max and now that I've matured I appreciate Capaldi's Doctor a lot more. I like the use of monologues directed at the audience. It makes some episodes feel very much like a stage play. This darker version of the Docto makes the show more interesting.
Capaldi is my favorite Doctor, I love Matt Smith and David Tennant, but I think what drew me to Capaldi's Doctor was his grumpiness and sarcasm, I loved that you could viscerally FEEL the Doctor's pain through Capaldi's acting. He was done with death, he hated seeing people die, and he made me LOVE Clara. He was the first Doctor my son and I got to watch as new episodes aired, we had watched the 10th and 11th on DVD and BBC America, but the 12th was the first Doctor we got to watch as new episodes. So that helps draw me into his story as well.
The 12th Doctor is my favourite Doctor. I was always hyped about his casting and I was one of the few defending the Capaldi era and I love that people are going back and discovering that his era is actually great
Always find it interesting how the 10th and 12th doctor (who are both tied as my favourite) sort of developed in reverse, the 10th doctor started out as much happier energetic figure who by the end of his run had completely broken down, the 12th doctor starts out much more unstable straight away and it takes him a long time to figure out who he but he's also probably the most stable he's been in a while at least near the end though he does freak out about his renegeration for a little bit so
Can't believe I'm about to say this and I will only say it once...but thank you Chris chibnall for making your era of doctor who so bad it made me go back and watch capaldies run as the doctor, like many other people I didn't realise what I had missed out on
Uggg Matt Smith was the worst dr who at the time, cheap knock off of david tennant.Dont get me wrong,Matt seems like a decent actor, just no dr who. Peter Capaldi brought depth of character and growth, heaven sent I believe its called one of my favorite episodes.

I was sold on Capaldi right away. What I didn't like was Danny in The Caretaker.
Peter Capaldi is amazing. No arguing that. I will say, however, that Peter Capaldi was not “hated” by everyone. There was a drop off in viewers by the general audience, sure, but there were plenty of plans who loved Capaldi. The premise here is way off.
100%! but tbf to myself here, I did say that some people just stopped watching

I saw the title of this video and thought of Colin Baker. People really changed on him afterward and after Big Finish.
How much of the drop off had to do with Bill Potts, I wonder.

He is the single most attractive doctor (except maaaaaybe Tom Baker during his run)
@@sinom 1st: Peter Capaldi 🥇❤️💋

Series 8 made me accept him, series 9 made me like him and series 10 made me start dressing like him
Series 9 made me like AND dress like him
@@lucianofab SAAAME
Series 8 was 1971/72. Get your facts correct when you talk about something that I have followed since "The Auton Invasion" when Jon Pertwee was The Doctor
@@redsidebiker whatever man
@@kadenstewart7761 Facts are facts mate. The series started in November 1963, so work out for yourself when series 8 was
The greatest doctor who encapsulated exactly what a culmination of 12/13 lives would look like and act like. His portrayal of the doctor is THE DOCTOR
I agree entirely !!!
"His portrayal of the doctor is THE DOCTOR"
Completely agree. Whenever I imagine the Doctor and the incarnation isn't specified, I always give them The Eyebrows.
The 1st Doctor looked like he had already been through 19 lives. I really liked him btw.
Capaldi’s era is legitimately the only era I watch regularly anymore, the performance and some of the stories are just fantastic
Yesss, Michelle was amazing as Missy! She dominated the screen whenever she was on.
The MOMENT Capaldi appeared I loved him. He is my favorite doctor. Always has been and always will be. Capaldi had character development and it shows.
Same. When we just got the Angry Eyebrows in the 50th anniversary special, I was all in with Capaldi.
I didn’t, i liked a lot the episode but I still wasn’t sure about capaldi, but as the season progressed end up Liking him more and more.
@@refereejameslawrenceiii8409 haha. the 'attack eyebrows'
'Always try to be nice, never fail to be kind.'
The 12th doctors final episode felt like a conclusion to doctor who and everything else after that is fan fiction
Wouldn’t it be great if Doctor Who did a Dallas and Peter Capaldi just woke up and said “I’ve got to lay off the scotch” - it was all a lurid, alcohol-induced dream.
Not all of it is a bad fan fic. I genuinely think that “The Giggle” is one of the better specials of Modern Who.
@@Mojo1356I’m glad you like it. but the problem is that they’ve lost 70-80% of their fanbase. What they did to make it appealing to a few has created a show that cannot survive.
@@cf87849 I didn’t say I liked a lot of it beyond The Giggle.
@@cf87849 I didn’t say that I liked all of what came after Capaldi. No- if anything, Giggle and Yonder are among the only 2 episodes that I felt could compare to the eras before Whittaker.
I was always a fan. Capaldi became my new favourite right from the start.
I think a lot of people just don't like the fact that a woman was at times calling out the 12th Doctor on his shitty behaviour and to paraphrase the Master "to bring the Doctor to heel"
Personally I think a lot of Doctor Who fans hated Clara because they were sad middle-aged misogynists who hated the idea of a woman telling a man what to do.
Even know I rewatch the 12th Doctor's episodes far more often than any other Doctor as he was truly excellent in the role.
Peter saying "Hello sweetie" to River still gets me emotional.
I love the sunglasses and guitar, and my favorite episode of all Doctor Who ever has got to be Twice Upon a Time
Capaldi was almost instantly my favourite doctor, blowing even Tennant out of the water, and he just got better and better.
Yes, me too, and I agree with you.
This doesn't need to be six and a half minutes long. He was hated because he wasn't Matt Smith, then he was loved because he wasn't Jodie Whitaker
Capaldi's guitar harkens back to Trouton's recorder and I love it
As a fan of classic who from watching it with my grandfather on pbs in the 90s, i loved capaldi almost immediately.
I loved Capaldi as the Doctor, he was brilliant from the start. He was many of the old ones rolled into one.
Personally, I believe 12th Doctor became the exact construct of the Doctor himself. Every time I think of how Doctor lives, his styles of living - Peter Capaldi perfectly catches up all the pictures I imagine
Almost each episode I adore the most in the show was shot with Capaldi
Peter is a fantastic orator, his speeches are epic. No other writer has given that to The Doctor,.
He's the best. Never been an actor close to him in the role
Capaldi’s been my favorite since the attack eyebrows got revealed in Day of the Doctor. I’m so excited that more people are finally coming around to him.
Capaldi was unloved? The world needs grumpy Doctor.
The most hated Doctor was Jodie Whitaker, then Ncuti Gatwa came along and said "hold my beer".
I remember laughing my ass off when Peter came out in a tank. I couldn't stop for a good half hour
I liked the 12th from the beginning, he is my second favorite right behind 11, i find it hilarious that 13's run made people like 12's more, its not jodie's fault...its the showrunners fault
when Capaldi's era was airing i loved it and honestly he is my favorite doctor.
To be fair, the worst Doctor at this point is Ncuti Gatwa
I loved the 12th from the beginning. Capaldi felt like he understood the doctor
Who hated Clara??? Am I in the minority of loving her character? She’s genuinely one of, if not my favorite companion
i was 50/50 on his eae when it aired. Went back to it a few years ago and I absolutly agree, he's now my favourite modern doctor by far.
I'm so proud that I always loved capaldi day one. I'm really happy people are coming around to how GOOD his era was!
As someone whose.... not a fan, but can enjoy episodes of the show.
I found Peter Capaldi as one of the more interesting characters on screen.
I loved Capaldi since he became the Doctor.
Just getting a little bit older I greatly appreciate capaldis portrayal more than ever
His first season was a little slow going, but he became one of my favorite doctors 👍
He really gave his heart to this performance and it shows
Imagine having such a shit era you made the previously worst era look good
I still think the same thing will happen to Jodies era. In a few years, people will actually watch it and hate it much much less.
Personally, I don't hate it anymore but after a rewatch of the era, I find it mostly mediocre...
Thanks for this
I liked Peter Capaldi when he was on. Didn't much like the sunglasses but Capaldi was class
not me, i fucking love capaldi, always did fuck yeah
Perhaps the 12th Doctor is an acquired taste
12th is Goat Actor to play The Doctor.
Loved Capaldi from day one. And think he's one of, if not the best of new Who. Proved that an older man can still play the Doctor.
I liked 12 bc he was dark and was a bit of a dick. He kinda had a sherlock vibe about him which i liked
I remember signing up for a DW club and was SHOCKED to see that practically 3/4th said 12 was their favourite. Back in the day, everybody hated him, and acted like you're weird for liking him.
Peter Capaldi is the best Morden doctor ever
I loved his era way back from 2014-2017
I don’t know why people hated this doctor but I never did the 10th doctor era I don’t like apart from the later half of series 3-4
I don’t like the hole lovely Dovey stuff with him and rose and the end of time just ruins his arc for me
The 11th doctor matt smith is my 2nd favourite doctor and era for the Morden who
I never hated the Capaldi era, series 8 and 9 are my favorites. 👍
" I unfairly hated capaldi for bad reasons. But now I hate the new doctor for unfair reasons but don't have the ability to reflect on my own history "
"best characters in the show arguably the most beloved"
*shot of James Corden*
Lmao no
Capaldi is my favorite Doctor, I love Matt Smith and David Tennant, but I think what drew me to Capaldi's Doctor was his grumpiness and sarcasm, I loved that you could viscerally FEEL the Doctor's pain through Capaldi's acting.
I was always hyped about his casting and I was one of the few defending the Capaldi era and I love that people are going back and discovering that his era is actually great
He was my favorite. His episode Heaven sent literally got me through some of the darkest periods of my life.
Always find it interesting how the 10th and 12th doctor (who are both tied as my favourite) sort of developed in reverse, the 10th doctor started out as much happier energetic figure who by the end of his run had completely broken down, the 12th doctor starts out much more unstable straight away and it takes him a long time to figure out who he but he's also probably the most stable he's been in a while at least near the end though he does freak out about his renegeration for a little bit so
Can't believe I'm about to say this and I will only say it once...but thank you Chris chibnall for making your era of doctor who so bad it made me go back and watch capaldies run as the doctor, like many other people I didn't realise what I had missed out on
I always loved Peter Capaldi. For me its the best doctor
Uggg Matt Smith was the worst dr who at the time, cheap knock off of david tennant.Dont get me wrong,Matt seems like a decent actor, just no dr who. Peter Capaldi brought depth of character and growth, heaven sent I believe its called one of my favorite episodes.
