The Christmas invasion on deciding whether to travel with the newly regenerated Doctor: Rose: What about you, what are you going to do next? Ten: well, back to the TARDIS, same old life. Rose: on your own? Doomsday: Rose: what are you going to do? Doctor: I’ve got the TARDIS, same old life last of the time lords Rose: on your own? Also the doomsday theme that plays when they get separated by the breach is the same piece of music that plays the first time Rose steps into the TARDIS all the way back in the first episode of series 1
The Murray Gold soundtrack, especially the Rose theme, is so good at supporting all the emotions in this ep. Fun fact: I got to have a photo op with Billie Piper while I was dressed as 10. I asked Billie if we could to the seperated by the void pose. She asked if she should cry in the photo and I said "Oh, yes!". Billie is great!
I love this story! I think that moment of them separated by the void is so powerful (hence why I chose it for the thumbnail of the video lol). I even talk about it during the end of series thoughts video. I love that fully embraced the pose and even took a step further. What a special memory.
The conversation between The Daleks and The Cybermen always makes me laugh. "This is not war, this is pest control!" Who knew Daleks could be sassy lol 🤣🤣🤣 However even to this day, this episode still gets me emotional. I remember it breaking my heart as a kid and I wished he could have finished that sentence. 😥😥😥
The sass from both sides in this is still hilarious to me. lol It broke my heart all over again as I was editing this. That unfinished sentence still haunts me. 😭😭😭
After Rose tells the Doctor that she loves him, David’s delivery of “quite right too” is just tremendous. Love that line so much, RTD is the best, can’t wait to see what he’s got in store next💚
I love how you are not crying that hard as you thought you would have, when Rose 'died' aka Pete saving her, but then, when they were on the beach, that's where they hit you in the feels and ofcourse there's no holding back then. Damn good actors there!
I liked the evolution of Pete and his feelings for Rose since he disavowed her before but in this one seems protective and compliments Jackie on raising her on her own. Pete’s character arc is intriguing.
This episode gets me every single time no matter how many times i watch it. People watching for the first time think it's all over after Rose is caught by her dad, but the real emotional kicker is still to come. Billie Piper, although she' isn't what most people would consider a renowned actress does such a good job of the emotional scenes.
At the time, this was the episode that broke my heart the most until a later one (which I won't divulge until the appropriate time). A few random thoughts. The Daleks knew about the Cybermen, but the "Cybrus" Cybermen didn't come into contact with the Daleks until now--though they piggy-backed the Dalek void ship to cross parallel worlds (they just saw it as an opportunity to expand). Murray Gold's "Doomsday" theme was definitely among his best. Oh, and Nicholas Briggs got all kinds of work talking to himself in this one (voice of Daleks *and* Cybermen).
24:28 I had completely forgot how many emotional moments there are in this show. There are some shows I remember as "making me cry" growing up because they had 2 or 3 moments that made me emotional, like star trek or stargate, but rewatching this show with you has reminded me that this show has about 5 of those PER SEASON lol. I completely forgot, since I was too young to be able to empathize with a show at that age. Malcolm is correct (thank you, Malcolm). The full reactions for season one, episodes five and six will go out on Patreon this Sunday. I've recorded through episode 16 so that I could record the reaction for Captain America: The Winter Soldier last week. The Marvel movies and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be coming to RUclips but not likely for a while.
So I just checked on your patreon for your classic Who reactions and saw that you jumped from the The Krotons all the way to Genesis of the Daleks..... That's quite a jump and I'm curious to know why you did that? I want to join, but I want to know if you'll be going back and watching a lot of the stories you skipped at some point? I mean, you skipped the third Doctor's era entirely.
Because she is approaching the 50th anniversary in NuWho, people asked Britany to watch Genesis of the Daleks and Terror of the Zygons for reasons we cannot go into here. Now that she is done with both today, Britany will return to where she left off from The Krotons. On the topic of Doctor's numbers, Britany prefers not to know what Tom Baker's number is, as she is keen to find out naturally as she carries on through the series where she left off previously.
@@MalcolmWolf Thanks for letting me know. The next classic Who story for her is The War Games, which is my favourite CW story, so this is a good time for me to join!
It took me a little while (couldn't really stand her for most of Runaway Bride), but I did eventually come to really love Donna and the ending of her time as a companion wrecked me. :(
@@BritanyBinges I personally think that Donna has the worst fate/saddest ending in the show, even though she isn't my favorite companion (I mean I loved her but just not my favorite). I feel like everyone else, including Rose (especially after season 4) got off way better than her.
I don't watch anything live or current on BBC. I'm guessing it had something to do with the upcoming 60th, but I know absolutely nothing about it (and, of course, want to keep it that way for as long as possible). I don't really know anything about music composers so, even if you did tell me, I doubt I would recognize the name.
Back in the day... one of the fave "alternate ending" videos that I made as called "Die Rose Die". I edited the ending so that Pete did not magically, for no reason, and with no way of knowing what was happening, appear and save Rose - she disappeared into the void with the Daleks and Cybermen. The Doctor then stands at the wall and looks forlorn, before returning to the TARDIS. End of story. Yay! Rose really died! Woot! :) :) :) I got a lot of negative feedback lol.
I mean... you do you. lol We're all allowed to have our own opinions about the characters. I know I've certainly been unhappy with what some of my favorite shows did with characters I did or didn't like.
@@BritanyBinges LOL I just got annoyed that they start the show with her saying it's the day she died... of course - in her own voice so - how can she die... And then - she doesn't die... Classic WHO didn't do it often, but - companions died! C'mon NewWHO, catchup...
I hate how Pete teleported to save Rose yet they didn't get pulled in. They were literally right in front of if. Both Rose and Pete should have been sucked in. It's a cop put plot armour. I hate 10 and Rose together purely for how romantic they are and this episode is the worst for it.
I think it just takes a second for the void stuff to start moving. Or perhaps the devices they travel with provide a protection of sorts for a few seconds.
The doctor says in the episode it shouldn’t be too bad for the two of them but the Daleks and cybermen are absolutely steeped in void stuff because of the Daleks living in the void and the cybermen taking forever to cross it. So when Pete appeared to grab her, it wouldn’t have suddenly sucked him in as strong as it would had he been a Dalek or cyberman. It took ages for it to cling hold of rose to be fair, almost like a massive wind but she still had loads of background radiation from all her TARDIS travels. But for Pete, he only crossed the void twice, and the way he grounded himself, being built a bit bigger, and not really having much void stuff on him, he could easily stand there.
As the first companion to the Doctor of the at the time obviously newly recommissioned run, by the time this aired and it was Rose's leaving finale - Billie Piper really had set the bar high for the role and with the huge fan base both her and Tennant achieved, well the nation was feeling the emotions with them!
Rose laughing directly into a daleks face will never not be iconic
Completely agree! :)
“This is not war this is pest control.” is such a good line.
My favourite line in the dialogue was cut for time:
"You would destroy the Cybermen with *four* Daleks?"
"We would destroy the Cybermen with *ONE* Dalek!"
Still waiting on the Dalek's mix tape
"This is not war, this is CYBER BULLYING"
That way she says "I love you", like she can't hold it in any more. Gets me every time.
The Christmas invasion on deciding whether to travel with the newly regenerated Doctor:
Rose: What about you, what are you going to do next?
Ten: well, back to the TARDIS, same old life.
Rose: on your own?
Doomsday:
Rose: what are you going to do?
Doctor: I’ve got the TARDIS, same old life last of the time lords
Rose: on your own?
Also the doomsday theme that plays when they get separated by the breach is the same piece of music that plays the first time Rose steps into the TARDIS all the way back in the first episode of series 1

That was one of the best things about this era, the threat of the Daleks based on how absolutely terrified the Doctor was.

Even if you like an ice cream flavor, would you like being tied to a soft serve machine, with --what ever piece of dental equipment dentists or Oral Surgeons use to brace the mouth open, so that they have unimpeded access to do the work-- with that instrument keeping your mouth open...tied to that soft serve machine, head turned just so you can't turn away from the ice cream pouring into your mouth, the Serve lever braced open, and you've been Left There, with no way to escape the soft serve ice cream pouring into your mouth and down your throat...and pouring...and pouring.
Even if the Ice Cream might be a flavor you might like, or might no longer like...but you don't get to Choose either the flavor of the soft serve ice cream - or whether it's Frozen Yogurt, but the FACT remains, you don't get to CHOOSE, to turn away, close your mouth, evade, or Escape the rope, tape or zip ties that secured you there...
Has that FACT taken All Choices, and ALL results TAINTED, even if accidental okay pieces eventually happen.
Let me know what you think, should you ever arrive at a point when you think you might look over parallels that might seem relevant.
...
Hope I was sort of vague enough to ultimately not accidentally reveal any Spoilers.
Sorry for the length of this post.
Anyone reading this, Be Safe in our all too crazy world.
the finales never disappoint
Damn it Britany, you are making me cry from watching the last scene. I can't deal with this
Nice icon there 🙂Coincidentally Britany has started reacting to Shield on her Patreon
@@MalcolmWolf Thank you! Damn I didn't know that, thanks for making me aware
I cry like a baby ever time I see this episode. 😭
Me too! I definitely cried while editing this video. :(
I'm in the "thank God rose is gone' camp, I really disliked her in s2 but on the other hand, I got the impossible planet so what a trade!
Same here!
Wow, after seeing how you've reacted to the end of this one, I can't wait to see how you react to season 7, episode 5, The Angels Take Manhattan. 😥
Hey again so what did you actually think of Donna in season 4 did you like her or not.
It took me a little while (couldn't really stand her for most of Runaway Bride), but I did eventually come to really love Donna and the ending of her time as a companion wrecked me. :(
Yeah it was sad sorry it took me a while to reply but anyway well done for staying away from 60th spoilers.
5 million cybermen easy 1 doctor now your scared… chills 😂😂 6:33
Love Catherine Tate as a companion. She's good
I didn't like Donna at first, but she really grew on me and I came to love her.
@@BritanyBinges She also had her own comedy sketch show. Which is absolutely hilarious.
@@BritanyBinges I personally think that Donna has the worst fate/saddest ending in the show, even though she isn't my favorite companion (I mean I loved her but just not my favorite). I feel like everyone else, including Rose (especially after season 4) got off way better than her.
No makeup? Right choice 😢 i still get choked up at end even though i have seen it so many times
Donna grows on you.
Sassy dalelks are the best dalelks
Agreed! :)
You look good even without the makeup. And bonus: nothing running when you cry, just like you said.
After all that build-up, the death of Rose was all a bit of an anticlimax.
THANKS for this!!!!
Before I begin watching, i hope you have your tissues ready. I'm pretty certain you'll need them.😋
FWIW I think you are beautiful without makeup.
Thank you!
Hello Brittany is it okay to tell you who the new music composer is? Also I hope you didnt watch bbc on saturday.
Oh OK but it's murray gold. He is back
@@helloneighborfan1626 Oh, okay. I didn't know he ever left.
@@helloneighborfan1626 ‘sorry if you didn’t want to know that…but I said it anyway’
@Hello neighbor Fan Wow..... What the hell?
Back in the day... one of the fave "alternate ending" videos that I made as called "Die Rose Die". I edited the ending so that Pete did not magically, for no reason, and with no way of knowing what was happening, appear and save Rose - she disappeared into the void with the Daleks and Cybermen. The Doctor then stands at the wall and looks forlorn, before returning to the TARDIS. End of story. Yay! Rose really died! Woot! :) :) :)
I got a lot of negative feedback lol.
I mean... you do you. lol We're all allowed to have our own opinions about the characters.
Officially dead.
As the first companion to the Doctor of the at the time obviously newly recommissioned run, by the time this aired and it was Rose's leaving finale - Billie Piper really had set the bar high for the role and with the huge fan base both her and Tennant achieved, well the nation was feeling the emotions with them!
And the clip showing the filming this scene is heartbreaking, too. watch?v=cZZcwSNIa3o
