- Hello everyone! It's all about an overload of sweetness this time... and not even a bird!
Please feel welcome to come up with a name for this cute little animal in the comments... or like others' suggestions that you like.
We will select five of them and make the squirrel choose :)
So here he is, my childhood dream come true.
Raising this little fellow was a cuteness overload...
He is so funny.
I got this new friend as a baby because that's the only way he can become really tame and totally used to people.
If you get inspired... Please take note that raising a squirrel this way will take a full month of your life...day and night.
When he is older he needs lots and lots of space. He can not be held in a cage.

One of them was alright the second one leg was Deposed and when they fall into our garden i was know there mom she was come into our garden all the time and imagine what happened when she come again she took the fine one and let the other one and now i must take care of it but i think it's fine this was something i want to do from a while so wish me luck and thank you again

Adorable! My daughter was given 3 newborn squirrels a couple of years ago after their tree was cut down by a logger. I remember those every-2-hour feeds so well! She carried them in a pouch on her chest for weeks. Eventually we released them to a tree on our property and they claimed their own separate territories, but they still come back for treats every few days.

Hey I just found 3 squirrels too. They are old enough to run around but they are mostly sleeping. I wanted to know if is it okay to wake them up every 2 hours to feed them (even in the night)?
I just found one today eyes arent totally open, fed him some puppy formula as they say cow milk is bad. Not sure how to get him back to his home as the tree is really tall and he can't really climb, any suggestions for returning him to his family??

So cute! I just recently rescued a 4 week old kitten that its mother had abandoned in the construction yard I work at. I caught him in a cardboard box and brought him home with me. That night was the happiest I had felt in years. He is now 8 weeks old, healthy, happy, and doing really well : )
I rescued a kitten last year. His mom gave birth to a litter on my porch. One kitten in the litter got wedged in a bit too much and the mother cat couldn't get him out. He was at most 2 days old when my dad found him. I thought it was a chirping bird at first, but no, it was a tiny little kitten. I had taken care of a kitten before, but not a newborn. It was getting too cold outside for him to be without his mother, so we brought him inside, watched a bunch of newborn care videos from the kitten lady, and took care of him. It was a tough first few weeks. Not just the feeding, but the constipation and infections that he had as well. First he had an eye infection for which we had to go to the vet and they forced his eyes open to treat the infection and then we'd just keep them clean and treat them until they cleared up. Then he got a respiratory infection that got so bad that he went unconscious and my mom had to do kitten CPR on him to revive him which was scary. The first vet we saw for the respiratory infection wanted to put him down for feline herpes so we got a second opinion and they gave us antibiotics and he perked right up within 24 hours of taking the antibiotics. He went from the brink of death to lively.
The respiratory infection I think was because he was aspirating the kitten formula. You see, he wasn't a strong suckler from the get go and his suckling strength stayed kind of weak. I would go slow, but he often got kitten formula up his nose anyway. So yeah, I think some of the kitten formula went into his lungs and caused an aspiration pneumonia. To prevent that from happening again, I started tube feeding him. If I felt resistance before the line that I marked, I knew I was in the lungs and had to pull it out and try again until I got the tube in his stomach and then I'd slowly feed him with the syringe. He still had constipation issues at this point so I would be inserting tubes into both ends of him. Once he transitioned to eating slurry out of a dish, I stopped tube feeding him and he's been doing great ever since.
One day at 3 or 4 weeks old, I saw a little jet of pee come out when I briefly paused the stimulation and that's when I knew I had a male cat. My mom says male cats tend to be little love bugs and my cat is definitely one of them. He's 1 year old now and he's doing great still. He keeps especially close to me when I get my monthly cycle pains.

Presented in a video like that , it seems precious because you feel the love of the owner and the way he treats his animals , its contagious..But do you feel the same about wild animals that you see everyday , birds , squirrel , cats, and even insects? Or is it only when you pet one or see someone caring for an animal that makes you feel like its precious? @@NGdake4 If I'm right. He got the squirrel as a baby to keep it as a pet. Raising it differently from how it would be in the wild, might help with the squirrel becoming more social towards humans and tamer.
So if I'm right, no the squirrel isn't going to be let free.
It's going to become a pet and it was put into a terrarium for the time being to help manage where it can go because it just opened its eyes recently and doesn't know better. It if falls, it could damage the squirrel a lot.

I acctually found a baby squirrel laying on my front porch and I took it in until it's was a adult. I tried to let it go but it ran back into the house and I followed exactly what He did and I did whatever I could to keep it safe. I named her cheerio because she kept hiding from me and sleeping in this cheerio box i wanted to recycle.Cheerio hasn't left and shes safe and has 4 newborns , ivory, isabella, addison, and pistachio Jr . The male left ,his name was pistachio.

Everyone should have the experience of bottle feeding an infant animal. It just makes your heart explode 🥰❤
This so reminds of of my old cat Jazz... I heard cries from my apartment one night when taking out the trash but could not ID the location of the animal. The next day when pulling into my spot I saw the little guy getting sort of batted around by a larger kitten.. his eyes were not opened yet, he was filthy, covered in fleas, and starving. I took him in, washed him, made him a nice bed in a drawer and got kitten formula for him... Feeding was a constant task but omg he was so cute.. I used an eye dropper and he would just hold it with his little paws and drink with force... My other cat Fuschia actually started to mother him too which was great. I wasn't sure how she would handle him. Had him for 14 years... and Fuschia for 21! They both died within a couple months of each other. When Jazz died I cried for weeks... it was one of the most painful losses of my life.

Squirrels are one of my favorite animals. I love them! When I was a kid, I befriended one in our neighborhood. I would climb up this one tree, and it would sit by me, and even scratch on our back door for food. It would take nuts from my hands and she even brought here babies a few times! It’s was seriously amazing.
I can only wish that had happened to me, I would give almost anything for something like that and in these videos

My mom or one of her friends found a baby squirrel covered in dirt and ants were eating it, she basically picked it up and took it home, cleaned it and raised it, her name is Nibbles and shes amazing.

Dark & Light Studio: They were still babies, and my family didn't really have time to take care of them, so we called up a shelter after 2 weeks of having them.
Unfortunately, the mother never got help, she was afraid of us, cause you know, we're humans. All that really matters, is that her babies are okay.

I didn't raise a squirrel by hand but every day I used to ride my bike around and I met this squirrel that was like my pet and I would see it everyday and i named him Fred. I give him peanuts and stuff but then one day we moved and I couldn't see him anymore

I found mine she was just born she is six months old now. She is the best thing ever, sweet as can be, a wonderful cuddler and chews up everything but I don't care because she is worth it.
I don't know why, but every time I watch this video, I cry. The beginning, when he's feeding this tiny, helpless baby, & he responds with perfect, natural instincts. He's safe, loved, fed, & his every need is met. That's very special indeed. This kind, gentle man deeply touched my heart. I wish there were more people like him.

Awesome! I just found a little guy yesterday... he fell from a tree 30 feet above with his 2 other brothers sisters.... along with the nest, right onto a busy street....... I drove by thinking it might not be 'just a pile of leaves and twigs on the ground'.... by the time I double backed, the two other baby brothers had been run over, but one little one was inside the cushion of twigs and nest....... I stopped traffic, scooped him up, and..... that has been his first week of life so far..... Thankful his eyes are literally not open to see what has just happened, what he's lost, how his life will change.... But we will do the best for him to have a better life than his brothers..... than his mother could hope for! Cheers to all!

That's the right way to do things. In this case, people are assuming that the baby squirrel was rescued, however the
video just states that he hand-reared the squirrel since that is the only way to have a tamed squirrel. So it seems a healthy baby squirrel was taken from its mama so he could have a pet that lives in a cage most of the time.

The potty lesson reminded me of when I saved a kitten years ago. I was surprised how much effort was needed when the shelter told me how. But I did all the feeding and wiping and kept her healthy for a few days until I got her back to her momma. The mother had kittens in my friend's car. She had moved all but one when he drove 150 miles to visit me. We found the baby, talked to the shelter about how to care for her. It was an experience

As a third generation wildlife rehabilitator, squirrels were my family's specialty when I was a little kid. Some of the squirrels we rescued stayed in our yard and we got the privilege of seeing our rescue babies have babies of their own. My mom's favorite was one named Angel. She and her sister were sick when they came to us and her sister unfortunately didn't make it. Angel did though, just barely. I miss Angel a lot and I hope she's still alive and a happy little creature.

That behaviour the squirrel showed in the video is actually an innate behaviour! Japanese Squirrels don't hibernate, but forage and horde as much food as they can to survive the Winter months. You take such good care of all your animals...you're amazing!
I was so happy to discover that your Japanese squirrel is related to the British Red Squirrel, which is sadly going extinct due to the invasion of North American Grey Squirrels. There's virtually only one island left in England where the greys can't reach, and the numbers have dwindled immensely...but going back to a happier note...
Um...here are some suggestions for Japanese-related names...
Adding 'ko' at the end (for girls) would change the meaning to add 'little'. For instance, Akako means 'Little Red', or 'Red Child'.
Aka - 'Red'.
Chibi - A Japanese slang term for small or short people/animals
Risu - 'Squirrel'
Yancha - 'Mischievous'
Pocket - (not Japanese but it looked comfortable in there)
Hoshu, Kyushu - Where the Japanese Squirrels can be found and are endemic to
Tori - 'Bird' (just so it can fit with the rest of the flock. You shouldn't add 'ko' though, because Toriko can mean 'captivity')
Uzura - 'Quail'
Mikan - 'Satsuma'
Natsu - 'Summer'
Haru - 'Spring'
Aki - 'Autumn'
Fuyu - 'Winter'
Koyo - 'Autumn Leaves'
Kisetsu - 'Seasons' (Because its coat will change colour from red to white-ish-grey over each year. Speaking of which...)

I mean, Momiji is the term for the japanese maple tree, and his fur has that kind of reddish hue to it that reminds me of maple. If you would rather go the english route, maple is a great name, imo

I am currently raising 3 little ones. I do construction and had to drop a ceiling for repair and there they were. I tried for 3 days to get mom to come back for them including shutting down the worksite for a day. No luck. They were 4 weeks when I got them and are now on almost week 7. This is day 16 with me and we have bonded. They have their own very distinct personalities. You are correct in saying that it is a lot of work and commitment. Feeding every 3.5-4 hours even at night, belly rubs, baths, then they started playing…… I have 1 male and 2 females. Miss Suzy, Spunky Brewster, and George the Twizzle. This has also been a dream since childhood. I 100% get it. I’m amazed how much they’ve grown in the past 2 weeks.
