- A bittersweet story about two baby squirrels. I was doing everything I could to give them the best chance to survive. For ten days I had fed them day and night, every two hours. Would they make it?
I had been raising my squirrel friend Aka, who I wanted to have a Squirrel friend. But he had been a lot older when I got him. During the process I kept close contact with the squirrel rescue centre. I kept close contact with my squirrel owner friend whom has been hand raising weak baby squirrels for decades.
They were getting a very special and precise mixture of specially prepared milk to raise squirrels. I even gave the right bacteria to get their digestion working.
I would like to give a big thanks to Marysia for all her knowledge and support and for the many baby squirrels she has saved.

Same story I had with a baby kitten, less than two weeks old. I was rushing to the dentist and they threw it away at the middle of the street from a car.
Diarrhea, growing but not fast enough, it's eyes just opened and I found it dead at the next morning. And buried it.
You just can't save all of them. But the important thing is it didn't died alone at cold, and someone took care about it till the last minute.

Just piggybacking on this comment so I can share some tips. A long time ago, a very clever vet told me: diarrhea doesn't kill, dehydration does. I have a lot of experience raising puppies, and it's so so important to get any baby animal enough fluids if they are having diarrhea. The best and fastest way to do this is to administer sub-q fluids - they turn around very quickly when you do this. The second best way is to feed them oral rehydration liquids, like Pedialyte. The easiest way to get this into a baby animal is to tube feed it to them, every few hours, until they stop having diarrhea. The final thing is that most babies who have diarrhea either have it because they have an infection and need antibiotics, or have a high worm load and need to be dewormed. A vet can administer injectable antibiotics or prescribe liquid antibiotics so it's easier to feed. Following this protocol, I have never lost a puppy due to diarrhea in over 10 years. It's more important to get a baby animal hydrated than to get it eating. Get it hydrated first, then deal with the feeding.

Had to stop the video for a few minutes, when this amazing loving, caring and compassionate man said he wanted the little one to at least feel the sunshine once.... I started weeping. Sir your karma is absolutely magnificent, our karma is how we treat other living beings. We all need to be the positive changes we want to see in our world.
After you placed him onto the daisies, I thought to myself, "Put some of his nest in there with him. Please put some of his nest in." But you covered him with the pink flowers. Then I started crying and thought to myself, "Beautiful. Just beautiful." Such a short life, but so much love. Thank you.
