  • The amount of cannabis breeding and genetics experience on this panel is formidable. This panel is not about genetically modifying cannabis. It is about using analytical testing, lab techniques and spreadsheets to move faster and more efficiently when breeding cannabis for particular traits in large sifts. This panel is a must-see for anyone who takes commercial cannabis breeding seriously. And just about anyone interested in cannabis will find something to like in it. Speakers from left to right : Ryan Lee - Chimera Genetic Resource Management & all around cannabis genetics thought-leader. Seth Crawford - Oregon CBD and Shaping Fire podcast guest.
Reggie Gaudino - Steep Hill and Shaping Fire podcast guest. Josh Wurzer - SC Labs. Jeremy Plumb, moderator - Prūf Cultivar. You can see the Shaping Fire podcast with Seth Crawford here: • Shaping Fire Ep. 37 - ... and the episode with Reggie Gaudino here: • Shaping Fire Ep. 33 - ...

Apogamy is another term for plants that the sporophyte develops from the gametophyte without fusion of the gametes...so the development of a diploid cell into an embryo sac of flowering plants into an embryo without fertilization...so no pollen introduced

Shango I really love your youtube channel and podcast. I'm looking to do something similiar for the Texas market. Educating the market prior to legalization is key in our state so that cannabis is given the respect and love that it deserves. I'd love to speak with you about what you do. Please, if you're able, respond with how I might be able to contact you. Sincerely, Mat

High THC is a marker for how well the cannabis was grown. Well grown cannabis (depending on strain) will test higher in THC. Alcohol is not the same you can have higher alcohol by adding more yeast and sugar which creates higher alcohol percentage. THC can not be adjusted in potency in the same manner. This thought of High THC in flower doesn't matter is going to change. Go into a dispensary and ask the bud tender how the consumer chooses. Consumers want high potency and high terpenes. This is what helps makes there decision in the marketplace.

Trinity Sacred Rootz love your comment and respectfully as a boots on the ground Beer/Wine/Spirits purveyor (and huge cannabis enthusiast and cultivator) this is because of the bang for the buck mentality of a large portion of the consumers. As soon as markets are normalized you will see a full spectrum ( pun intended) of consumers as I do everyday from customers looking for the lowest price and highest efficacy or “bang” to the customer looking for the most nuances and sense of place and I’d say depending on how you angle your business and your specific local market you’ll see robust sales in both sectors and everything in between.
Example: I sell a fair amount of Sierra Nevada Hoptimun Double IPA ( more mass produced) but folks beat my doors down for a lower ABV small production local IPA with more nuance.
Just a cross over perspective ✌🏼

I couldn't agree more. I liked your comparison with alcohol with the same respect I think those consumers in the cannabis world will be looking for "nuance". But the nuance will be mixed spectrum strains with both CBD and THC or high or rare terpenes. Its all going to be strain dependent. But If people don't see High THC they will want other cannabinoids like CBD,CBG or THCV or a unique or extremely high terpene.. A strain with low THC has to make up for it in another for the consumer to feel satisfied. @@blu_of_greentank

100% agree! I was drawing a comparison of ABV to THC because they are the intoxicating factor and it seemed like you were saying that THC% was an indication of quality. Yes if a plant is grown well it may have a higher % than if the same plant was not grown well but certain chemovars are just naturally higher %, you can select what you grow for that but it can still be crap, or at least fall flat in many other ways. Same with fermentation, if done well you can have balance of fruity esters mouthfeel and sweetness from grain and nuance from yeast and then complex hop profiles depending on how and when you add them so it’s not just as simple as adding more sugar to achieve high alcohol. Now if your now including other cannabinoids besides THC and esters and terpenes for added value than we are on the same page. Many of my customers drink craft beer ( ie many times lower THC strains with other cannabinoids and more complex terpenes/flavonoid profiles) rather than
Grain Alcohol ( ie High THC lower or less complex terpene profiles ) because the level of intoxication is easier to measure or better yet more satisfying to consume for things other than potency. Based on you last response I think we are saying the same thing I just wanted to make that specific point. 💚
