    Fantastic review and you did a great job! I just subbed. One of the best channels for car review in my opinion. I'm shopping a 7 seaters and I think RXL wins considering the price point. Acura 2 screens are just so stupid.
    Another comparison between RXL and XC90 would be great. I'm undecided which one to get.

      Tinaya Maria I got Q7 3.0 today. Rx L 3rd row is horrible. If I need a 5 seaters RX is the one to get. Reason I’m not getting XC90 is I’m skeptical about their engine and reliability in general. Volvo is offering cash allowance now which means there may be an updated or refresh XC90 next year. Timing does matter I guess.

    • @tinayamariaspeaks
      @tinayamariaspeaks 6 лет назад +1

      Andy Chung thanks what’s the price point on the q7 3.0, was leaning towards the MDX but I’m still not 100% decided

    • @andychung332
      @andychung332 6 лет назад

      Tinaya Maria close to 69k out the door and that’s premium plus with all options.
      Leasing the XC90 seems to be a good option.

    Nice review 👍
    The 3rd row in the RX350L is an afterthought, Lexus added 4 inches to the vehicle and made it a 3 row, it is ridiculously cramped in the 3rd row and cargo space is almost nonexistent.

    I own a 2018 fully loaded regular RX350, not the RX-L. Can't speak for MDX since I don't own one, but I can tell a fully-loaded RX350 is amazing. (Personally, I think you should always buy cars in full trim or near full trim) The leather feels so soft, the interior is amazing quality, and the 12-inch screen blows everything else in this segment. It sure doesn't have the power of a Porsche or even a BMW, but enough for everyday driving in cities and highway. The triple LED headlights that you get at full spec is absolutely amazing to look at and the Mark Levinson speakers are even better than my friends Audi or BMW speakers. (by the way, the RX shown in the video is not fully loaded, it has a different set of headlights and wheels.)
    I personally like the exterior design of RX but I also get why some people bash on it. Though I will tell you that how it looks in pictures vs. in-person differs. For me, interior design and layout matter more because that is where you spend the most time in. To my eyes, Lexus interior feels and looks much more premium.
    The downsides I have the trunk space. The regular RX has a coupe-like rear line that is sexy but cuts out lots of trunk space. Also, the info system control takes a time to get used to. Now I can use it with no problem and most features can be controlled by the buttons on the steering wheel or physical buttons, but my friends riding my car sometimes have a problem using it at first. Also, the remote engine starts app works but takes forever. It does tell you when you forget to lock your doors though and I love that I can lock it with my phone.
    I think Lexus is the best premium/luxury SUV to buy if you are less concerned about performance or brand itself and wants quality, reliability, comfort, and great resale value. MDX is also a great car and my friend loves hers! Hope this helps potential buyers.

    This was a good overall comparison between the MDX and the RX-L but to me I think people should pick depending on what you like! Like me I’m more of an Acura fan! I don’t have to have all that luxury! I like for my vehicles to have more of a sporty performance then luxury! The MDX have one of the best AWD systems! Lexus AWD is just okay to me! So if your like me then Acura would be the way to go! But if your into luxury and not into how the your vehicle performances then Lexus is the way to go. Now I’m not saying that Lexus doesn’t make performance vehicles it just that they haven’t did it with their trucks just yet! Also gas mileage is plus with me! To me Acura vehicles get better gas mileage then Lexus. That just from experience of me having an Acura and Lexus vehicles! So at the end of the day people test drive and look over both trucks that’s if your still up in the air about which one you like then make your decision from there!!!

    I have both cars, acura is easier to operate, touch screen, easier to input gps information. It Shows lyrics for the song. Smarter and brighter auto head lamp. Easier opening fuel cover. Smarter car remote (identify the driver when turning on).
    Rx better quality, and interior design. But windshield wiper design not good, its wiper cant be lift up to prevent ice built during snow days.
    Overall I choose MDX. More friendly and easier to use.

      The 3rd row seats is meant for kids really or smaller people, even the Mdx 3rd row seats can't seat any one over 6ft for long spells. If you want a luxury vehicle that can seat 7 adults in comfort you are better off with the Infinity QX 90, Lexus LX 570, Mercedes GLS and the likes.

    Thanks for the in-depth review. I went and drove the Acura MDX (2017 AWD-SH w/Tech). A little weird trying to get used to the shifting. The car drove nicer than I'd expected. I have a 2013 Lexus GS350 which I was comparing it to. Not apples to apples BUT, interior wise, I'd have to say my GS350's NAV/Radio stuff is so much more intuitive to use PLUS, and for me this is a big plus, I don't have to bend over and touch anything in the Lexus because the control knob is exactly where it should be. I have bad tendonitis in my right elbow which makes it difficult to perform such an easy task. Lexus wins hands down with this. Other than that, I think the car I'm purchasing (Acura MDX) is a really nice car. I've asked real owners how they feel about their MDX's and they seem to really like them.

    I own both. 2017 MDX and 2018 RX. Lexus IS basically an over price Toyota. The MDX still uses real leather in the SHAWD tech and Lexus I would have to buy the top of the line to get Leather. The MDX can pull my 21 FT boat. I agree that the Lexus maybe more luxuries but the MDX is more of a USABLE cross over. The interior maybe basic on the MDX but I feel after owning both the MDX uses higher quality products.

Most have had to take the car to the dealership for repairs. Then from a lot of reviews i have seen the XC90 has quite a lot of road and wind noise more than the Lexus and most of the competition. I wouldn't advise any one to buy the Volvo based on these unless u r a brand loyalist and don't care.

    Honda had made a fantastic advertisement of Acura MDX in CCTV China about 10 yrs ago, which attracted millions Audiences. I bought a brand new 2016 Acura MDX two years ago, and it already has been sent back to dealer four times for maintenance, 2 for engine emission and 2 for SH AWD problem. it broke my heart, on the way to say good bye, Acura.

    The MDX has a very annoying 9 speed transmission which jerks and does weird shifting whereas the 8 speed of Lexus is smooth.

    • @eleasandrinhoarantes3078
      @eleasandrinhoarantes3078 6 лет назад

      Shahed Hasnat this is very true , since is used a ZF transmission . There have been many failures in this transmission , a large part of them that are I stalled in other makes , and issues as well on Honda /Acura .
      They reprogrammed my aunts PCM 3 times in the past year to “ correct “ the shifting issues

    The RX should have gotten 10 extra points for how much nicer the interior is than the MDX’s (hard to look at).

    I think after seeing the new RDX interior that was just announced# the new MDX will become the easy winner after it also receives the new updates.

    The Lexus is actually not an extended wheelbase. Rather they just extended the rear overhang. In terms of what that does for third row interior space as well as handling it’s a rather substantial difference. I’m a huge Toyota fan but honestly shame on them for not doing it right

    Great review. Lexus cargo capacity (especially the 2-row) is a joke, the infotainment system is way more difficult to use than the Acura’s IMO, and the driving feel is so disconnected it made me nervous. The interior materials are a step up, but I’d go MDX for family hauling without question.

    Superb, clean, professional review. Very Objective. Acura is the best choice and looks better than the over acute angles from the Lexus design language. I just don't like the Alien look of the Lexus. Now if we count handling and true driving experience this would become like 20 Acura to 14 Lexus..ha,ha

    I owned both. For better handling and better driving dynamics, my vote goes to Acura. For better interiors and features, I suggest Lexus. Personally I like Acura for its better driving experience and usable 3rd row. I am interested to see how they fare against Mazda CX-9

  • @jat3956

    In the RX" nice to have leather next to where you knee would touch" only means it will wear out looking like crap because thats what leather does over time! Furthermore, IMO overall close but more daily usable space in the MDX and the RX can touch the SH-AWD system! Thats enough for me to buy!

    Love the Lexus RX. I love the inside and everything it has to offer but I don’t like the lack of physical presence on the road. The frame is small and looks better suited for a female vs male. With that being said, I bought it anyways 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

      Many features missing in the RX. If he had even gone to the RX 450 hybrid f sport package fully loaded u'll see so much more as well taking the pricing to 70K or thereabouts. he could have even shown a fully loaded RX350L which would be around 64-66k. I guess he just wanted to compare both at the same price point to make it seem the Acura is the better deal for value. With the way that Acura looks exterior and interior i could careless if it's cheaper.
