    I'm going easy (small circles) on this one as I get a bit of "clicking" in my hip if I extend past medium. Of course I can "force" / "no pain no gain" my way through it but no more of that approach for me! I feel a lot more stable doing it if I have maintain a 50% flatten too. Interestingly with most other movements I feel the difference significantly between left / right just from post assessment while lying down. For this one it was only when I got up after doing one side & walking around slowly that it felt as if I was leaning to one side because of the lengthening.
    Clearly I've got a lot more experimenting to do with this as it feels like I have more sensory motor amnesia while doing it ie. feels less connected / coordinated even compared to other movements that I've done for the first time. For my personality that's a pro because I like the learning process & working it out. :) Many thanks for recommending it to me Colm. Stay well.

    Very good exercise, thank you!
    Can we also bring down the straight leg in angles: leg turned out, leg turned in?

      @LearnSomatics  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Peter. Yes you could absolutely do that. It will bias a little bit your internal or external rotators when you do it. Try it and let me know how it goes.

      @@LearnSomatics I've tried it now with the angles and it works very well. However: I have a loud, surprising clicking sound in the hips with all angles. Have had this for decades in both hips with certain (completely different) exercises, but no pain at all.
      I don't know anything about anatomy, but I would describe it as tendon/ligament "jumping" over something. Where the clicking sound occurs, I definitely have less control over the movement.
      Maybe the polishing technique that you demonstrate here is going to help reduce this phenomenon, if I keep practicing.
      Thanks again. I love so many of your videos and your straight forward teaching style.👌👍😊

    Hi colm. Loving your teaching style. Great videos! Thanks so much. Can I ask if you can recommend a good somatic training in the uk or Ireland please? Thanks in advance 😊

    This one was interesting ! My muscles must be really tight or weak as my right leg specially the knee and lower leg were flapping while doing the overstepping part . I will be doing this everyday , afterwards the area where the ankle meets the leg seemed tighter when I walked around but the leg felt free .

      Try to allow your lower leg and foot to be pretty relaxed as you do this one Naveen, you can also do the following movement to relax the lower leg and foot: ruclips.net/video/uOhCUGkwtdg/видео.html

    Hi, I have scanned the whole channel; this is only movement for the knees. Is it ok if I suggest a sequence with 3-5 pandiculations for just the knees? like 90-90 rotation something more advanced or deep for the knee around it , behind the knee and relevant groups of muscles

      Hi Antoni, sure I will cover knees in a future video. However there are already a few videos that will help your knees feel better by freeing the trunk and hips. Try these:

    Hi Colm ! Tried this movement today , my knee tends to move inward significantly while doing this ?

    • @LearnSomatics
      @LearnSomatics  Год назад

      Hi Naveen. Is it rotating in? Or just drifting in?
      Either way do it deliberately a few times. Then try to do it with the legs straight. It should be easier afterwards.
