I watched Greg and Shoe's Wonder Woman movie review a while back and Greg legit started complaining about how "the feminists got their grubby little hands on Wonder Woman". Bro Wonder Woman was literally created by a feminist
A feminist polyamorous triad.
"It was made in the past, and therefore, it must be conservative." - Greg probably.
Not only that, but by a male feminist who foresaw a future run by women, and wanted to prepare young boys for that world by showing them strong women in leadership roles.
Oh Jesus Christ...
I'm going to start telling them _"Woke Hollywood made Pac Man Trans! It's Ms Pac Man now! Pronouns! Masculinity is under attack by the crazy leftists!"_ and then after they foam at the mouth a bit, I'll "Just happen" to discover my old mid 80s copy of Ms Pac Man for the Commodore 64 and say "Whoops, my bad, guys. I forgot I owned that game. Good thing no one made an ass out themselves over it".
"but those were the GOOD feminists back when feminism was neccessary"
What Greg's video taught me: we absolutely do not compensate English teachers enough for reading through the pablum he must have turned in...
Incredibles 2: bob is having a rough time taking care of the kids because he barely did in the first movie and doesn't know how hard it is to keep a house afloat while his partner is the breadwinner, also your kids are growing up and changing making things harder for bob and by the end of the movie he learns how to respect the boundaries with violet and take care of his other children
Greg: the themes about family aren't in the movie anymore!
Honestly for me, the only weak part was that Screenslaver wasn't as cool as Syndrome. Other than that, it was great.
Bob didn't even try to beat his kids and if that's not an attack on traditional family values, I don't know what is 😤
The man not being the breadwinner, and the woman not being a dependent stay-at-home mom = Destruction of the family unit according to conservatives
why does he have to lie about the deceased Carrie Fisher "owning" her character in Jedi? she was on record hating the bikini outfit and thinking it was misogynistic
I will say it's still great seeing her character choking out Jabba like how leftists need to choke out disaster capitalism.
well, that was the point in the lore.
Jabba wanted her to feel terrible, because he's a terrible individual.
Of course, I totally believe that the person playing the character needs to be 100% on board, and if they hate the scene, it shouldn't be shot like that.
Even if it causes a lot of problems, people shouldn't be made to do things they aren't comfortable with. That's why you should have the script written BEFORE you start shooting.
@Nerobyrne finish the script? In this economy!?

Greg has become the epitome of im14andthisisdeep
He's mad about Anakin murdering children when he destroys an ENTIRE PLANET in the first movie.
Well, a droid control ship….and that was by accident(?) Oh, you mean the fourth movie.
I see Greg is still spitting out those pills the nurses give him.
Just the pills that aren't red.
He's storing them in his cheeks so he can use them to get wasted later.
I've heard that Haldol makes the Jesus go away, and that would interfere with his arc.
@@BaronVonQuiplyHe wouldn't be Green Man if he took that shit

18:44 the term “woke” is from african american vernacular english (aave) and it was a watchword for black americans during the civil rights movement-it was not about the banks owning the world and it’s insulting that he’s claiming this term was “morphed” into being about inequality when like… “woke” is literally a response to racial INEQUALITY
18:46 the irony of a white man saying the word “woke” was “stolen from us” when white liberals stole it from black people and THEN the right wing stole it and subverted it into a mockery and or vilification of leftist sensitivity
'Woke' (as the phrase 'stay woke') dates back to 1930s AAVE.
@@CrowManyClouds ah so it was used much earlier than i referenced! all the more reason it’s infuriating ppl act like it sprung up wholesale in 2016 as catch all shorthand for liberal progressivism
It's important to remember that when Greg says "the banks" he means "the Jews."
Like, c'mon. This is just tiptoeing around Nazi rhetoric.
Its like he got "woke" mixed up with "wake up sheeple"
Armoured Skeptic transparently going over the WHOLE CHECKLIST of culture war tropes from as far back as 2016 makes him look a lot more ridiculous than anyone he's having a go at ever could.
Sometimes I feel bad for Greg, then I remember my friend got murdered by people who Greg virtue signals to, then I get so angry I just want him to go away and never come back
Greg: The original star wars was ✨dark and gritty✨ and these new ones aren't, and are worse because of it
Also Greg: The character Yondu wasn't a clear cut good or bad character, and now I'm going to bitch about it for 15 minutes
(Side note: I wonder what he thinks "dark and gritty" actually is)
Ewoks, apparently. 😆
I do love how he's complaining about the most dark and gritty thing in the prequels while simultaneously saying they aren't dark and gritty enough. They gave you child murder, Greg. And it wasn't treated as a joke. You should be thrilled about that.
I like how he doesn't understand that the slave girl being murdered while the band play an admittedly ridiculous song isn't somehow undermining that scene because it reinforces how violent death is obviously a very regular thing and everyone there just treats it as part of the entertainment. There was a band there in the original version, they just didn't have the CGI abominations like the singer. He's a mob boss in a seedy night club, that's the vibe George Lucas wanted. You'd think Greg would approve of the grittiness of that.
I think he's more talking about the film making in the 70's and early 80's. AKA the quality of the film and lighting. He's upset because we have clearer picture and...well, I'm not going to lie, lighting and cinematography has largely gone downhill due to the overemphasis on VFX forcing every director to choose the most standard shots and lighting.
"People like Guardians for the same reason they like D&D." I feel vindicated. I always felt like Guardians of the Galaxy were a Space DnD Party.
It's funny because I feel like a D&D movie was like a fantasy version of Guardians of the Galaxy.
I refuse to accept that I saw the same Star Wars movie as Greg -- I cannot imagine describing a film with the Mos Eisley scenes in it as "dark and gritty"
Don’t be too surprised, right wingers are preschoolers when it comes to media analysis
Wdym? Space is dark and sand is very gritty. Lol.
The only dark thing about Star Wars is when planets are being destroyed and killing billions.
I think Greg honestly just confused the sets with the movies. The sets were all a good deal darker and more dirty than what we see in modern films, especially Star Wars films which tend to have a very clean aesthetic after the prequels, but the movies themselves were pretty much children's movies.
Note: there were definitely some themes that are worth analyzing and interacting with as adults, but George Lucas hasn't been the best about expressing those themes in writing.
@@sapphicbunny7538 Exactly. Sand is coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.
Conservative dudes are so freaking weird about media, man.
AS is so sensitive he thinks starwars is dark and gritty lmao
*SpongeBob and Patrick on the kiddie rollercoaster*
No one tell him about WH40K. He’d shit his pants.
Oh crap. This actually recontextualizes so much of the video. The original trilogy was "dark and gritty," so it was probably Greg at his limit of how much moral ambiguity he could take. THAT'S why he couldn't understand The Guardians of the Galaxy. And Rocket Raccoon probably reminded him of the Ewoks, so he didn't notice that he was a psycopath who would steal people's prosthetic limbs just for a laugh.
Do you reckon he's gonna spiral even harder when he hears shoe just got engaged?
Lol probably. Don't know why he would though -- she's engaged to a literal nazi. I would genuinely say she downgraded.
"Rebecca Watson was deliberately lying about me when she rightfully pointed out that I tried to say the Notre Dame fire was started intentionally even though the police literally came out THE DAY OF THE FIRE with evidence showing that the fire was accidental."
Greg literally everyone is exploited by the owner class. That guy working at walmart, loggers, contruction workers, that cashier at the small mom and pop store. This is capitalism it's a system on exploitation. He's like on the cusp of getting a true understanding of the system. The people who have own the means of production will exploit the ones that don't and thats what we need to solve
When Greg said agenda all I could hear was that episode of Billy and Mandy with the secret snake club 🤣
that's a great episode especially the Bob Dylan impression by Billy West
If I can say one thing for the Secret Snake Club, it's that they had a clearer _AGENDA_ than whatever it is that Greg's whining about.
As someone who actually grew up on the original edits of Star Wars (unlike Greggy-poo), on VHS, there was very little dark and gritty there. ESB heads that way, but not too far. Then we got Care Bears with spears...
Padmes instinct that she can still save Anikan is correct because Luke saves him. That is the entire conclusion of Anikans arc that I assume he likes. Mocking Padme for refusing to hate Anikan because he keeps killing children is so dumb and goes against the message that Anikans story is suppose to teach us and its what makes Padmes arc a tragedy.
The lesson what we are supposed to forgive those who go on genocidal rages?
@@help4343 My understanding is yes. Jedi aren't interested retributive justice. The sith seek satisfaction through external pleasures like seeing someone justly punished. Jedi seek inner peace. If someone leaves behind the emotional chaos of the darkside that made their crimes possible and there is balance in the force then they have done all they need to, as unsatisfying as that might feel.
42:07 _"I thought the actors wrote their lines on the spot! Did you know the movie studios are companies who sometimes even hire writers and executives? Mind. Blown."_
Im guessing his religion didnt work out.
I enjoy the bit with the KGB guy cause after the collapse of the Soviet Union there was no indication this was ever a thing. Oh and he does love to prove he doesn't understand story telling or media.
"People like Gradians of the Galaxy for the same reason people like D&D...". This is the greatest thing I have heard n awhile.
Well, the last D&D movie has Guardians of the Galaxy vibe.
I'm Canadian, and I promise you that Greg is just pronouncing words wrong. Ravengers?? RAVENGERS???
As a fellow Canadian, I second that opinion.
Canada needs to check on their boy here. He needs help.
Man as someone who ACTUALLY works in entertainment and ACTUALLY has a shit ton of contacts in Hollywood, people currently striking with SAG or WGA in LA, it's wild hearing Greg either being lied to, or spreading blatant lies.
He claims to be so informed, yet doesn't even know that James Gunn was a victim of abuse growing up, and just assumes he's a creep.
11:10
I highly recommend Lyndsay Ellis's excellent video essay, 'The Complex Feels of Guardians of the Galaxy 2'.
I second this. After watching her essay I re-watched GoG2 and had a much better appreciation for the movie.
I don't think he knows that just because someone does something good, that doesn't mean they're forgiven for every bad thing they've ever done.
I always read Padme's actions in ROTS as a Mother desperately trying to keep her Family together. She has children now and their future is in danger because of Anakin's actions. It makes complete sense that she failed to properly reprimand him because all that is on her mind is her babies and their future.
He confessed to killing an entire village in Attack of the Clones and she marries him anyway.
@@help4343And she “dies of sad” after the kids are born.
Rian Johnson was not hired to do 2 Star Wars movies. He was only hired to do one. Colin Trevorrow was supposed to make the 3rd. But when his latest movie flopped and fans got angry about Last Jedi Disney got cold feet and replaced him with JJ.
I did not have "Greg talks exactly like Lily Orchard" on my bingo card
Lily Orchard is still a thing?!
@@ExtremeMadnessX I mean, I would assume so. I know she made a post on tumblr about wanting to murder vaush a year or two ago
Greg: This movie is pushing redemption for child traffickers by redeeming a character who turned out to NOT have trafficked children after all!
This one is hilarious, five minutes in and I already can’t stop laughing at how my expectations were both shattered yet somehow met, all with that droning theme song in the back.
Star wars, serious what? It's a series for children and young adults, my man. Sure, sometimes it can get dark, but dark doesn't mean serious. There's a lot of dark stuff for children.
i guess this is what it looks like when the overton window shifts left
Greg getting mad at Guardians 2 and invoking some conspiracy about it really goes to show not only how deranged this conservatives thinking has gone, but also like the real time rewriting of history.
Guardians 2 was an extremely popular movie that literally everybody loves.
But now your brain virus has gotten so bad, that even the mention that a movie is "woke" has now rewritten your entire reality.
Does Greg not know that you can't be redeemed if you haven't done something wrong...?
TL:DR when I show my kids starwars "The Last Jedi" will be treated as a standalone film and I think they will like it more then I did at first
I have over the years come around on "The Last Jedi" and concluded that my issues with the movie all stem from Ryan Johnson not being given the reigns from the start. So much of what it is doing would be enhanced by it being a piece of a well planned trilogy rather than having to shape the bare bones nature of "The Force Awakens" into a genuinely new idea. And to top it off, disney was too chicken shit to actually pay off the ideas being presented and instead make a trilogy in which all three movies feel like they are actively contracting each other both thematically and narratively.
'To know sorrow, you must also know levity'. I guess having different moods in a film is bad.
Its insane to me that the prequel trilogy exists and people think Last Jedi somehow broke the franchise...
Break the universe* not the franchise. AFAIK there isn’t a lot in the prequels that directly contradicts hard rules or lore that has been previously established.
In the sequel trilogy we get things like tracking thru hyperspace, ability to teleport items and ones self across long distances with the force, force healing and the famous Holdi maneuver which makes the entire battle against the death star pointless if you could simply point a large ship in its direction and jump to hyperspace in order to obliterate it.
These things fly in the face of well established rules from the 7 previous movies.
Greg: I want gritty and dark star wars... also I want a black and white moral system where one action can make a person completely irredeemable no matter what they do after that or why they did the first thing. Unless they shoot someone dead based on vibes. That's just makes them cool and has no impact on their morals. If you do redeem them, it means you're saying what they did was fine. Even though if that was what you were saying, they wouldn't need redeeming in the first place. I am very smart.
I'm 99% convinced he's going in hard on "Yondu is a child trafficker" and his "they're trying to change your morals through media and yes I do mean (((they)))" to try and get Shoe to notice him. "Look June! I'm doing a Balenciaga! Just like you did! LOVE ME AGAIN!"
He doesn't fucking understand that the prequels were a tragedy, a direct inversion of the original trilogy. It was the entire point to show that Anakin was falling into the dark side, but Padme wanted to redeem him anyway!
The way AS talks about starwars it seems like he wouldn't like KOTOR 2.
Wtf?! They made it clear that Yondu had love for Quill in the first movie. This guy clearly never watched any of the franchises he is taking about.
I was half expecting him to start raving about the Jews. He got halfway there, he got to Cultural Marxism
why does he speak like he's reading every syllable separately
The way Greg emphasizes every word is insufferable.
This man is spiraling
i also hate star wars 8 but for the complete opposite reasons chuds do; I like the parts they hate and hate the parts they love. star wars 7 was really really good (I dare say the best of ALL of them) but 8 and 9 squandered it.
"GotG was dark and gritty just like Star Wars"
Greg needs to do more videos about the Mandella Effect because he's clearly from a different fucking universe
These are all ages movies you goddamn psycho. Thats why all the jokes are there. I'm going to scream
"We didn't know why he (Vader) was redeemed"
How about because he was the right hand to a fascist authoritarian society that murders indiscriminately, tortures, and colonizes other worlds to extract value from the planets to fuel the empire's war machine (Endor) as the Emperor seeks to conquer the galaxy and Vader was his right hand man in all of that. We knew that. That was all established though the first two movies, and his redeeming act was to kill the Emperor himself by chucking his ass in a pit, saving Luke and redeeming his own "soul".
You are correct, but at the same time, Vader was just guilty of some vague evil actions. We never really saw him do much other than command in the original trilogy, so him being redeemed at the end was fine. Even with the Death Star, he presided over it being built, but it was largely the Emperor and Tarkin who made the orders. But the prequels forced people to actually see the wrongs Anakin committed, and that changes one's perspective.
"Glub Shitto" is a really good Star Wars character name.
Wow Hollywood is based and rehabilitation pilled? Poggers thanks Greg
JJ started entire shit with his lazy rehash of A New Hope...
@@ExtremeMadnessXit was a pretty well made rehash nothing lazy about it
I love how conspiracy people will literally say a sentence like "X company wants to make as much money as possible" and then proceed to go careening down the road into batshit crazy town instead of realizing they already figured everything out.
Also i'm glad to live in a time where people seem to stop worrying about sounding crazy and just release videos proclaiming all their unhinged ideas.
Love me some Phantom Menace music.

Nope, Oola still gets offed in the current cuts. It's still a thing.

Greg is back, Jake is on it, and I am HERE for it.
Hot take: the Special Editions add more good than bad.
The Padme/Anakin confess slaughter scene. I guess Armored has never met any ULTRA MAGA women. It's totally believable
I used to watch Greg a lot, but I parted ways when he started surfing that SJW commentary wave, otherwise known as ArmouredSkeptic's Undoomed phase.
The whole Jabba palace song thing was something that Lucas himself stated he wanted in the original film, but because of technological limitations in that area he couldn't pull off the song number, once Lucas films developed the special digital effects Lucas wanted to remake the trilogy to fit his original vision. Sometimes directors make decisions about removing things that they really didn't want to, but because of limitations in effects, or because of time constraints, these get left on the cutting room floor, and sometimes a directors original vison isn't as good as the final product they have to release.
‘These people have a very unhealthy relationship with media…
25:51 the original trilogy IS gritty, if you understand gritty to mean grimy and lived in. It is not Dark and Gritty™️ though
52:56 oh, Greg doesn’t know that Lucas always wanted a huge song and dance number right there and the original version was the compromise that the puppeteers were able to arrive at with him given the budget and time constraints. The song and dance makes Jabba even worse because he goes from feeding a dancer to his starved monster immediately to making his captive band play a fun song, that’s pretty sick shit
5 minutes mark guess at the Incredibles 2 conspiracy: standard issue conservative "they want to destroy the nuclear family" bullshit
He's pissed because Shoe got engaged.
Revenge of the sith is one of the best star wars movies and I will die on that hill
If greg thinks star wars is gritty oh boy 40k is an whole other level for him then
Needs to Be Invoked.
Ryan Johnson wasn't fired from ep9 he was never part of it. Colin Trevorrow is who was going to make ep9 and was fired for what most people think was The Book of Henry's poor performance. The Star Wars sequel trilogy was an experiment gone wrong on giving 3 different writer/directors 3 movies and hoping they somehow can tell a coherent story, it was basically set up to fail. The incorrect info from both sides was bothering me this whole video.....
AND NOBODY NOTICED THE THING I MADE UP, WHAT A CONSPIRACY!
48:00 the problem with the Star Wars special editions that you can’t watch the original versions easily
The force doesn’t care about good and evil as it also helps the Siths. The force only cares about being in balance. When Vader killed the Emperor he brought balance to the galaxy. Becoming a force ghost in the process.
Every time I hear “I love film”, I hear “I love lamp”
"Rian Johnson made a good movie" Yeah calling cap on that one Jake lmao
Nobody complained about him before The Last Jedi...
It's so funny for Greg to pretend like the scene with Oola (the green Twi'lek dancer) was somehow replaced in the 1997 special edition when, not only was it there, but extra shots were filmed and added of her being in the rancor pit.
You don't even have to be a dedicated Star Wars fan to know this, all these changes are well documented and easy to find just by googling them. Greg's just being dishonest and/or lazy (I'm gonna guess both).
I remember watching his content in the past it just seems he is stuck in 2016 its sad
More like 1916.
Jake, Kotor 2 deconstructed Star Wars almost 15 years before TLJ came out, TLJ wasn't doing anything new.
The last video of Greg's I watched was the Force Awakens review. And honestly the whole atheism vs gamer gate thing killed most atheism based channels.
Episode 8 was a disconjointed mess
It was only disjointed in regards to the overall star wars franchise
As an independent non star wars film its coherent, and actually good
@@V2ULTRAKill I think a lot of its ideas where good for Star Wars moving forward. Disconnecting the jedi from bloodline eugenics bullshit, especially.
Yeah, Lucas star wars did have a philosophy. It was anti war, pro revolution, and most importantly anti capitalism, specifically American capitalism
Dude straight up sounds like Ron Desantis at like 38:00
Does Gerg know that not everything needs to be dark and gritty? And that you can convey emotional significance without everything being GRIMDARK? This is exhausting to listen to, and I commend Jake for getting through this on regular speed. I’ve got this on 1.5 and I’m still just over Gerg and his lukewarm takes. He sounds like he took one media studies class in a D-tier community college and now thinks he’s the holder of all knowledge.
dude keeps talking about "themes" but he cant even tell what they were in the first place to be upset that they changed
The only thing I won’t agree with in this video. The Last Jedi is TERRIBLE and there’s no way around that. Had some good and pretty looking scenes but otherwise, garbage.
39:15 he really brought this screen to be like "wow! this looks cool! not gonna investigate or elaborate on the context of this image so i hope they're mad for the same reasons as me"

I agree with him on the special editions. You can't legally get Star Wars 77-83 on modern formats and Lucas should leave them the fuck alone or at least include the originals with the new versions. He won't even give Library of Congress a historical 35mm copy. Otherwise Greg goes off the rails.
Re: Star Wars, Rogue One was basically the best Star Wars Movie ever made for me, and since then I have no desire to watch anything else. I know Andor is meant to be really good too, especially for fans of Rogue One, but I've grown really tired of serial content. I think that's what made Rogue One particularly good for me, it was just a good movie, even without the larger Star Wars context.
