      @@ninjalokust The bible is a resource for fables and 'lessons' that existed way before it's creation. Jesus is the 'archetype' of Christianity, and takes the qualities of previous archetypes. They're basically Marvel superheroes meant to show you how to live. Religion is like some big group project and they very much took tales from Egyptian, Sumerian, etc.. Extrapolating that into infinity is where Greg falls off the deep end.

      Also it's commonly accepted the Sphinx was built around 2500 BC (Though there's some evidence to it being older.) Metal locks were invented around 700-600 BC somewhere in Europe. So taking away that a lion lying down just kind of looks like that, how the fuck would the Egyptians have any concept of what a Keyhole and a Key were?

    • @ninjalokust
      @ninjalokust Год назад +5

      I am not sure if I can argue this point because I dont really know whats in his head and its been a while since I watched those videos, but my understanding of his point wasn't they had big brains therefore were smart. It was more that they were an older and stronger variant of human evolution that had been around long enough to learn advanced technology and when the apocalypse happened it basically wiped out much of their civilization. The ones that survived then became a kind of ruler over the Homo sapiens and Neanderthals purely because they already had advanced knowledge, but the younger races rose up and killed their rulers and that while we learned certain things from them we lost a lot more.
      Again I need to point out I don't agree with him I am just trying to relate what his ideas are to best of my ability because I watched at the time while eating popcorn and laughing and have had time to kind of process what he was trying to say, and even then it still comes off as complete nonsense.
      I think its important to kind of point this stuff out because when you react in the moment to each insane thing he says you can easily miss the overall theory he is trying to present. For example, in this video he talks a lot about various depictions of the green mans story and heroes journey. What I saw people missing (and this might have been covered on his other channel I can't remember at this point) was that these images and ideas may not being used intentionally. That the author of say batman and jokers appearance may have been a secret illuminati conveying ancient knowledge in plain sight, or they might just have been pulling from these ancient ideas and images handed down over time and that we are all constantly soaking in these ideas without knowing where they came from. He rides that line in claiming it might be a secret conspiracy and the masons etc know this hidden truth and are seeding it into popular culture, while also saying some people using that imagery might just be influenced by that conspiracy and not be a part of it.
      Again you can take that apart in a thousand ways and it really isn't convincing to me at all that superman is a modern retelling of the jesus story warning us of the coming apocalypse, but when you get stuck in the weeds of the details he is throwing at the wall to see what sticks you miss the overall message he is trying to convey. Which really shows a failure on his part because it shouldn't require this much explanation to help people understand what he is saying, and the reason it does is that he focuses so much on trying to force evidence into his argument so that he can present himself as more rational and reasonable (to those who are susceptible to this kind of nonsense). It has the side effect of forcing people like us to address each wrong detail he says rather than addressing his overall points.
      Sorry for ranting but its like, once you realize the bigger picture he is trying to paint it becomes even more insane and letting it slip between the cracks allows the believers in it to continue to claim that the overall theory is sound even if "some" of the evidence isn't.

I think it was brilliant to make the deal "You hit me, I hit you back" which Gawain tried to circumvent with a fatal blow. It's very much "Don't wager what you can't afford to lose." Like it's not a coincidence or surprising that a lot of films cover similar ideas or feel like they're pulling from mythology, especially superhero stories and things like Star Wars. It sounds like Greg is saying 'treasure cat'. Am I miss-hearing this? Cheshire Cat, Treasure Cat? Silly to be bothered by this when it's just one minor point in an entire litany of whatever Greg is doing here. I remember some of his early stuff and actually enjoying a little. How is this the same guy that recorded that Chic tract with you which iirc gave us Harold Phallisman? What happened Greg? What happened?

    35:00 he's talking about the colours of the paintings and completely ignores the explanations of why blue and red pigments were seen as precious and even regal, like it's easy to find out that blue paint pigments were hard to come by???

    *sigh. Superman is a Moses allegory, not a Jesus one. Yes, Synder has him as Jesus, but he's Moses in the comics and was from the start. Him being sent in a basket-like pod to be adopted and raised by a people not of his own is intentionally following the Moses story.

    He's trying to apply the Hero's Journey to Jesus? No. No. That doesn't match at all. There is no outside messenger who comes to call Jesus out of his ordinary life. Jesus starts out knowing he's special and decides to go out to the world himself. Jesus doesn't go through a transformation as a character. He starts out as a chill dude who preaches peace, he ends as a chill dude who preaches peace.

    • @ninjalokust
      @ninjalokust Год назад +4

      He started off saying this was a test for his audience to see how good they were at debunking conspiracies. That was like the first 3 or so episodes. Then it became a "joke" no one should take seriously. Then it took a complete turn into being presented as being serious, it may not be easy to spot just watching the series unfold but on his alt channels where he was talking "off the cuff" it is much more apparent that he began smelling his own farts and realizing he liked it.

    Listen this is very obvious to anyone with an elementary level knowledge on history and religion but I need to say it: The Trinity is Christian. Christianity started during the Roman empire. The Roman empire and the pyramids being built are thousands of years apart. Why would the pyramids be a monument to the Trinity?

    “It’s just for fun. Also everything I’m about to say is utterly incorrect and my conclusions don’t even follow from those incorrect premises, but I believe it and I imagine I’ve been very convincing”
    You don’t get to say “it’s just for fun” and then a few seconds later say “gobekli repo is where giants taught humans farming, also here’s this crank theory about this frieze that a very weird guy is claiming is the constellations that I’m going to say is true. Don’t think about the fact that the modern constellations weren’t a thing back then and also it’s just some pictures of animals, bearing no similarity to the shapes or even layout of the modern constellations anyway”
