The Quality vs Quantity question is like asking what's the meaning of life? 😂 Mr. Beast can say put more time and effort into a video, but even if you do, results may vary. Especially if you don't make the kind of content he makes, which is designed to go viral. And if you do quantity, it can work for you, but only if the videos are good. For quality or quantity you have to know what to make or how to make it. And one or both of those two things is what trips most of us up. Myself included. I think the best thing to do is focus on quantity and figure out the best way to monetize your videos so even if you get low views, you're still able to make money off something you sell. And don't get me wrong, that's gonna be hard too. But at least you won't be as discouraged by putting all your blood sweat and tears into videos you expect will blow up that end up bombing.
I’m very grateful for the success of my channel. One month in and got 38 subscribers. I think the key is to just post and never give up. Also knowing why you are making content. Be grateful for all success even if it looks small. Remember that 15 subs is a full class or small group and they are listening to you. If they were in front of you they would still cheer you on. Keep showing up just like your subs are showing up for you. All the best to small channels. We got this .
Absolutely loving this journey! We've hit 1,100 subscribers and I've learned so much along the way. The key.... Balancing well-researched videos with ones that just vibe with what I love. Sure, some videos are all about strategy and may not be my favorite, but they help the channel grow. Then there are those videos that are just for me, the ones I'm genuinely excited about. It’s all about enjoying the ride, not turning it into a grind. Proud of everything we create, views or not. If you can mix passion with strategy, you're on the right track. Keep at it, everyone!
Awesome video as always. I am small RUclipsr, and I think that for small channels the most important thing is to get good presence from the beginning. If you are not popular, people won't care even if you have the best videos and the best content on platform. I am not beginner anymore, but I know how hard it can be (and honestly if I didn't use a lot of Famester, I would have quit a long time ago. It made everything much easier for me, especially getting to 1000 subs and view hours).
Yea but the problem with paid services to get watch hours and subs is they don't count toward RUclips's requirements - at least for Veefly, Sprizzy even Google Ads. It sucks that it doesn't count.
I was a small channel for about 14 years (joined in 2010). Then this February I started posting shorts and my channel blew up to over 100k subs in 5 months. Silver play button is on its way to my house. Thanks for the tips Sean.
I think there are great opportunities for quality small channels. I think where the big struggle is, is with medium channels breaking through to the next level. New channels are being pushed heavy now with the algo and quality big channels create their own momentum. Leaving medium channels in a tough spot.

I've desided to start making content in RUclips allthou i am over 40 and being front of the camera sucks big time. I have like 7 subs at this moment and english is not my native language but i will try to get pass that. Really appreciated the end of this video, “what’s your actual business model?” I sort of took that as “Why did you start a channel in the first place?” My channel is still very small BUT has brought me so much business that is not RUclips related (restoring sewing machines) that I find it harder and harder to choose between pressing record or just getting machines done. Finding a balance of keeping my customers happy and my viewers happy has been a huge learning experience. It brings me back to “why did I start a YT channel?” It wasn’t for views and subs, it was to share my knowledge so that others could do what I do. Now I focus on the best quality content I can personally offer and I have stopped looking at the numbers. My content is evergreen, so it will always bring in at least a trickle of passive income. I will probably never have more than 10k-25k subs because of the niche I am in, my income comes from things I do outside YT. I’ve made peace with that, it is so easy to start a channel and feel the pressure to “blow up”. I almost lost focus of my original goal, which was what brought me the most happiness. Whatever happens, happens. Thanks for another great video, I have learned so much from your content!

You need to do a series of videos on re-branding . . . when you realize the original subject matter you created no longer is getting views but one particular area on RUclips is growing fast, how do you switch gears without having to create a new channel?
When it comes to producing and writing scripts and then actually being the one on the videos... I thought I was doing something wrong because it takes me so long to do all of this by myself lol
Haha yeah, need to film footage for a 10 minute video. BOOM that’s gonna take an hour. And don’t get me started on editing. Then there’s scripting, the thumbnail and lots of other little things. It’s been said before but you need a lot of different skills to make one RUclips video, let alone a good one.

Super curious about how the small channel team works. Do they watch the content and then give the create a pass to test on more people RUclips home? I have seen a number of smaller creators appearing on mine if I am honest. Some have been amazing!
Wow, nice one. Am a small channel,am tired of posting, I have over 90+ shorts but no encouraging results. But I won't give up because I have no other option.
Video editing and watch time are what I’m focusing on. The amount of learning I have had to do starting from scratch is a lot more than I would have ever imagined. 5 months in and 981 subs 132 videos. Edits are getting better but there are plenty more 💡that will need to go off in my head before my editing is even close to where it needs to be. Writing scripts is tough and still suck at that too
My biggest challenge on RUclips right now is watch time hours and audience retention. We've been fluctuating up and down with subscribers currently. We have been doing significantly better with our watch time with podcasts and the ASQ strategy. I observed positive results from these minor changes in content deployment and evergreen content especially.

In my niche it does seem that the older videos will start taking off over time whilst the new ones, even with a big audience, take time to get momentum. I was monetized in 4 months of regular content. Been at is for about 9 months. Unless you have been to professional film or editing programs, it takes a while to really develop some skills... and to be able to sit back and look at competitive content that does very well and see what separates theirs from yours. Then you can work on elevating your content. I learn new things all the time, and sometimes I get a bit discouraged when the views don't come.. but not every video has an audience that is large. It will come in time, I think most people need to invest 3 years in steady production to see where it all comes out in the end. You'll need money in the bank because the revenue comes from long term scale for most people, not a 10 video wonder that hits the jackpot.
Sean, quick question about monetization and collaborations. What are some best practices to make sure everyone gets paid? For instance, if I have someone on my channel, what cut do they receive from the ad revenue? Or is it monetized at all? What about 50 years from now? Do they still receive compensation? Thanks!

I think you’re right. I’m a new RUclipsr and I started a travel and history related niche channel three weeks ago. I have some experience with video editing, but nothing crazy. My first video was a channel trailer. Well done, but fewer than 100 views in 3 weeks. My second video was also well done, but was only 5 minutes long. It’s garnered about 450 views in 2 weeks. My third video took me 4 hours to shoot and 10 hours to edit. It’s about 9 minutes long, but has attracted 1,600 views in 10 days and is steadily rising. I’ve also been able to get 46 new subscribers in the same time period. Yes, I want to get to 1,000 members so I’m monetized, but I’m focusing far more on video and production quality vs quantity.
*Yeah Videos I've posted about 6-7yrs ago still get views and still make Money, and Although I've been on this platform for about 15yrs I'm STILL growing after watching channels like yours*

I've been experimenting with RUclips for over a year now. I think the quality push is a direct reaction to the rise of low quality AI generated content which is mostly spammy garbage. I like the push to raise the quality, but it can be a bit of a burden to small channels that are just getting started. So the additional promotion of small channels helps to balance this out.

I was too quick to give up when I first created this Chanel in February and I deleted EVERYTHING, but two weeks ago I came back much more better. My growth this two weeks has been great and I appreciate every bit of it and those who made it possible.

I am a really small channel but do cover songs so it is very hard to grow fast, recently some of videos have really taken off. I don't work so can spend the time working on improving my channel. I have 64 subscribers and 70 videos. I am not doing it for money but to share my passion and talent with an audience.
If you don’t mind a question on here - my YT channel has been around for a number of years and I have over 88,000 subscribers, but I’ve changed the nature of my RUclips channel over time, and I’m wondering if there are any strategies that I should be using to bring in newer viewers and also engage the ones that I have. For example, my new podcast video episodes are only getting hundreds of views. I wonder if I should just start fresh with a new channel or if I’m doing something a little wrong in terms of my current approach.
My advice to you would be to put a profile photo. It can be off putting to subscribers. It looks professional to have a profile photo. I hope you don’t mind me saying. Good luck 🍀

You're right! The very first time I tried, I invested $2000 and after a week, I received $8,400. That really helped us a lot to pay up our bills.

Super curious about how the small channel team works. Do they watch the content and then give the create a pass to test on more people RUclips home? I have seen a number of smaller creators appearing on mine if I am honest. Some have been amazing!
I would doubt anyone is watching the content, but tweaking algorithms. It is very hard to understand sometimes what is going on with how it all works.

Wow, nice one. Am a small channel,am tired of posting, I have over 90+ shorts but no encouraging results. But I won't give up because I have no other option.
Video editing and watch time are what I’m focusing on. The amount of learning I have had to do starting from scratch is a lot more than I would have ever imagined. 5 months in and 981 subs 132 videos. Edits are getting better but there are plenty more 💡that will need to go off in my head before my editing is even close to where it needs to be. Writing scripts is tough and still suck at that too
My biggest challenge on RUclips right now is watch time hours and audience retention. We've been fluctuating up and down with subscribers currently. We have been doing significantly better with our watch time with podcasts and the ASQ strategy. I observed positive results from these minor changes in content deployment and evergreen content especially.

In my niche it does seem that the older videos will start taking off over time whilst the new ones, even with a big audience, take time to get momentum. I was monetized in 4 months of regular content. Been at is for about 9 months. Unless you have been to professional film or editing programs, it takes a while to really develop some skills... and to be able to sit back and look at competitive content that does very well and see what separates theirs from yours. Then you can work on elevating your content. I learn new things all the time, and sometimes I get a bit discouraged when the views don't come.. but not every video has an audience that is large. It will come in time, I think most people need to invest 3 years in steady production to see where it all comes out in the end. You'll need money in the bank because the revenue comes from long term scale for most people, not a 10 video wonder that hits the jackpot.
Sean, quick question about monetization and collaborations. What are some best practices to make sure everyone gets paid? For instance, if I have someone on my channel, what cut do they receive from the ad revenue? Or is it monetized at all? What about 50 years from now? Do they still receive compensation? Thanks!

I think you’re right. I’m a new RUclipsr and I started a travel and history related niche channel three weeks ago. I have some experience with video editing, but nothing crazy. My first video was a channel trailer. Well done, but fewer than 100 views in 3 weeks. My second video was also well done, but was only 5 minutes long. It’s garnered about 450 views in 2 weeks. My third video took me 4 hours to shoot and 10 hours to edit. It’s about 9 minutes long, but has attracted 1,600 views in 10 days and is steadily rising. I’ve also been able to get 46 new subscribers in the same time period. Yes, I want to get to 1,000 members so I’m monetized, but I’m focusing far more on video and production quality vs quantity.
*Yeah Videos I've posted about 6-7yrs ago still get views and still make Money, and Although I've been on this platform for about 15yrs I'm STILL growing after watching channels like yours*

I've been experimenting with RUclips for over a year now. I think the quality push is a direct reaction to the rise of low quality AI generated content which is mostly spammy garbage. I like the push to raise the quality, but it can be a bit of a burden to small channels that are just getting started. So the additional promotion of small channels helps to balance this out.
As a small channel I’m learning every day but it is disheartening when you don’t get many views. I’m going to keep on trying though! 😊

I was too quick to give up when I first created this Chanel in February and I deleted EVERYTHING, but two weeks ago I came back much more better. My growth this two weeks has been great and I appreciate every bit of it and those who made it possible.

I am still getting views and revenue from few of my videos over five years old. I will not give up
I am a really small channel but do cover songs so it is very hard to grow fast, recently some of videos have really taken off. I don't work so can spend the time working on improving my channel. I have 64 subscribers and 70 videos. I am not doing it for money but to share my passion and talent with an audience.
If you don’t mind a question on here - my YT channel has been around for a number of years and I have over 88,000 subscribers, but I’ve changed the nature of my RUclips channel over time, and I’m wondering if there are any strategies that I should be using to bring in newer viewers and also engage the ones that I have. For example, my new podcast video episodes are only getting hundreds of views. I wonder if I should just start fresh with a new channel or if I’m doing something a little wrong in terms of my current approach.
