Awesome video. I am small RUclipsr, and I think that for small channels the most important thing is to get good presence from the beginning. First off, I think you offered quality tips here that others don't talk about. Marketing research and storytelling research are great suggestions that I don't remember hearing in other "how-to start" videos. Second, I also cringe so much at my younger self, and I like your Mom's wisdom. Usually my family members just gaslight me. Third, I recently decided to look at the oldest videos of a very successful youtuber who I admire. Her videos go back about 13 years, and when I saw how rough, shaky, grainy and raw her beginning videos were, compared to the cinematic quality of her videos now, that was the catalyst for me to feel like I can start making videos and not hold myself back anymore. So although I totally get why people put their earliest videos on private after they've improved, I'm really grateful that this person was ok with leaving it all out there. The transformation is truly incredible to see.

This is probably the best "if I would start a yt channel video" I have ever seen. You really took a deep dive into yourself and shared you own personal story. Let me tell you, you got the storytelling down! I didn't even realize that I was watching your ad in the video for epidemic sounds because you made it so smooth in your story and for good reasons of course. Music is very important. after years of putting in off I have started my own channel and I have much to learn but this video gives me so much reassurance that if you keep trying and evolving, you will get there. absolutely loved it when you said that you can increase your surface area for luck by working hard. Thank you for making this video!

Hi Ruri I love your honestly and humbleness. Don’t let anyone get to you, you are a doing a great job. Unfortunately jealously gets the better of a lot of people. Just keep being you.
A few months ago I decided to start a YT channel about ADHD Awareness in Spanish, motivated by the lack of practical information available in my first language. I'm about to upload my second video and precisely while researching content to get some inspiration I found your channel, it was not only the mood and visual aesthetic I was kinda looking for but I also found a gold mine. Your content is so good, the storytelling, the delivery, the information.... I may only know you from some of your videos I've watched so far and I don't know your full story but I feel so proud and happy for you! Very well deserved 1M Subs 👌 PD: Looking forward to cringing at myself (More that usual) 🤣
4 Essential Ingredients for High Quality Videos on RUclips: 1. CLEAR AUDIO: Even if your video has no visual yet your audio quality is amazing, people would consume it. That's why music content is so popular and watched/consumed in billions. 2. STORY/PLOT: Connecting the dots will make you a great story teller. You must know how to connect to your audiences' emotions with your content or video. A good story is always remembered for years. 3. THE MESSAGE: You must know clearly what you wanna convey to your audience. Without having a purpose on your video, it won't make much impact. Don't just make random videos. 4. VISUALS: Use High Resolution footages, images, and Thumbnails. At least upload your video in 1080p.
Thank you, Ruri! 2024 is promising to be a good year. I've removed one of the things I knew for fact was keeping me from moving as I wished -- Instagram. Now with all this free time I've been writing (on Medium) and practicing my speaking-to-the-camera skills.
Ruri, your blend of practical advice and personal anecdotes makes every piece of wisdom resonate. From embracing our past as a sign of growth. Here's to the journey of self-improvement and the courage to share it-one video at a time. Keep shining, Ruri; we're all tuned in.
Just stumbled upon your channel and this is the first video of yours that I watched. I found your information useful and sincere, something that many videos lack. I appreciate how succinct you were without any unnecessary fluff. I also opted in your waitlist for your RUclips course. Congrats on your accomplishments.
Thanks for this video. Recently I started viewing each video from creator perspective. I always noticed from my analytics that people dropped off from my video intros and when my videos are winding down and I never really thought of it much until i noticed I was doing same when i watch other creators with lengthy intros. People don't care about the long unnecessary intros.....just cut to the chase and give value...... This is what i now try to implement on my videos. 100% value from beginning to end
I consider myself as a confident person overall, but sometimes I am just so down and inconfident. And idk, how I just end up watching your videos, although they might not always directly relate to me but your vibes matches the confident version of myself and I just remember that I am a confident person overall and I feel much better. I appreciate your efforts and your explainations and how you relates quotes from various books and yt videos that you are reading and watching and it really have this impact on the consumer with the idea to just improve yourself, whatever you are doing. You are really amazing Ruri.

Newbie here. I like the fact that you mentioned gaining traction takes time and that basically the first 50 videos are gonna suck😢But its all about evolving😮Thats really cool. Suddenly feeling optimistic❤
Thank you for this video and for sharing your story. I’ve been procrastinating creating my channel for the last four years precisely because of the fear of sharing who I am, fear of opening up, fear of blossoming into the world. People can be really fucking cruel and the more sensitive one is the less encouraged they feel to get exposed and judged. I’m much closer than I’ve ever been though. The awful lot of shadow work I’ve done is bringing fruitful results. Thank you for this necessary video.
Content creation can be so hard and I still feel like I’m finding my way. Me and music, don’t get along and I feel like Storytelling still isn’t my thing, but at least in terms of sound effects and overall video editing I know I’m doing a good job. Loved the advice and thank you for this video!
I’m currently on my 4th attempt at growing a RUclips channel, using everything I’ve learned from my failed channels. Thank you for the advice, I’m always learning! Also I’m 40 and I can promise you there will be much more cringing as you get older! 😂
So I've been off and on with uploading on youtube for the last 2 years and this year it finally hit me that if I want to have a personal brand with a strong online presence: I NEED TO POST ON RUclips. I relate heavily to the part about being comfortable with being disliked. Truth is I wasn't and even now as I type this message the thought still makes me feel a bit "eeeh" but I realise that this is a part of life, therefore, execute the task. I am using this comment to voice my thoughts here and hold myself personally accountable to begin posting and build up a serious audience - thank you for allowing me to do so. I also noticed one thing in common that all of the haters have when they posted - they all have low sub counts and clearly feel intimidated by you. As Goggins says "You'll never see a hater that's doing better than you." Here I go - scripting, filming and editing will commence as of this week.
Newbie here. I love❤that you said the first 50 videos are gonna suck and that we have to evolve. Secondly, i loved it when you talked about traction and that its gonna take time to find the right audience😊
“People will watch your video even if your video quality is not that good. But if your audio quality sucks, then good luck!” - Ruri Ohama @7:29 - @7:36 Thank you for mentioning this Ruri! I've heard about this when I took a video content creation masterclass, but I also wanted to hear it from other video content creators who has made it, like you.
As someone who is working on his RUclips channels as a side project and felt overwhelmed, videos like this are really comforting and mean a lot to people like me I must say. Thank you, enjoy watching your content as always.
4:19 - When you fade a title with a drop shadow, you need to combine the fill and shadow as a "precomp" or nested comp so that they both fade at the same time. What you have is the elements fading separately on two different layers, which causes the shadow to fight with the fill.
My biggest issue is to not make videos boring. Storytelling doesn't come natural to me so I'd love to see some in depth videos about that (or someone link me to resources you've found helpful for that, can be on another platform, too).
Ruri! So excited to hear that you're starting a course! I love your attitude, approach and truly appreciate all the knowledge and experience you're sharing 🙏
thanks Ruri!!! this is so motivational, useful and inspiring. I definitley want to push through, so the consistency and motivation to create is very helpful. Congrats on the success, wishing you more to come!
What a BEAUTIFUL VIDEO! Authentic, REAL, informative and HONEST. You are a beauty and you have inspired me! Thank you for your help. GOD BLESS you and your family.🙏 SPREAD LOVE! ❤
Absolutely inspiring. Now I know the meaning of valuable content. I have a question for you Ruri: to do a single video, do you put down all the headlines and then present them from your head, or do you write the entire text, memeorize them and then speak them on your video? I have a problem with how to present the raw ideas that exist in my head and knowing the way you do it is the key point for me personally
Awesome job! I like your persistency. I was filming for months on my main channel. Hours of great content but I just couldnt get any recognition. I wanted to delete my channel, but I found out I can push my channel with some initial subs and vies using some online services (i.e. fame ster). Now I have 20k of real people following me on my main channel
Regarding luck i would say that today i was lucky to discover your channel but i made that luck come to me because i was actively looking for qualitative content. Just to confirm that luck and opportunities often come with work. I was impressed by your personal style : you sound real and on social networks so many people look artificial even when they talk about authenticity and being genuine. You sound coherent, you remain humble, you don't hide your own fragility and look not only sincere but also honest. In other words someone reliable. Your arguments are full of common sense and wisdom based on experience. All that makes you look even more cute ! :) I usually don't write comments but felt like taking time to write this one. Kind greetings from France.

I may only know you from some of your videos I've watched so far and I don't know your full story but I feel so proud and happy for you! Very well deserved 1M Subs 👌 PD: Looking forward to cringing at myself (More that usual) 🤣

You have the most delightful voice and delivery. Thank you for the great advice! A lot to work on.
4 Essential Ingredients for High Quality Videos on RUclips:

Thank you so much :)

"you can increase your surface area for luck by taking action" (14:20) - so well said!
You are so right, the biggest thing on RUclips is human connection. 💙✨
Big channels were once small channels. Be encouraged ,your time will come. All the best.
good advice, i like it.. Just started my channel, Nervous but hopeful this year of 2024. Wish me luck 💕
Good luck to all of us on this new and continuing journey 💚💚💚
good luck
Amazing! I am going through each phase analysing and improving.
Thank you, Ruri! 2024 is promising to be a good year. I've removed one of the things I knew for fact was keeping me from moving as I wished -- Instagram. Now with all this free time I've been writing (on Medium) and practicing my speaking-to-the-camera skills.
I want you to know that your authenticity is always appreciated Ruri. Love watching your videos. 🖤🖤
Ruri, your blend of practical advice and personal anecdotes makes every piece of wisdom resonate. From embracing our past as a sign of growth. Here's to the journey of self-improvement and the courage to share it-one video at a time. Keep shining, Ruri; we're all tuned in.

Thank you! I just started my RUclips channel last month. Good luck to everyone starting their’s 💕
Just stumbled upon your channel and this is the first video of yours that I watched. I found your information useful and sincere, something that many videos lack. I appreciate how succinct you were without any unnecessary fluff. I also opted in your waitlist for your RUclips course. Congrats on your accomplishments.
Ruri love your contents 😊
You deserve the best ❤️
💪👍
thankyou this was so helpful! i just started yesterday and ofcourse i’m aware you don’t get to a great level overnight but i do get discouraged easily. but i won’t give up thankyou!!
It's admirable to be authentic and share what you've learned the hard way for us, thank you Ruri!
Thank you for this video. We just started our channel a week ago and we can't believe how supportive the RUclips community has been 😃😄
Don't give up on your channel. It doesn't matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop!
You guys are so goshdang cute. I’m subscribing 😊

You are so wise beyond your years. And I can see you’re very self-aware.
I love this video!! Once you put your goals over your fears nothing can stop you. You guys got this, keep going :)
👍
Thank you Ruri for all your advice! I started my RUclips channel last month and now I will try my best to bring your advice into my videos. 😁
💪👍
Newbie here. I like the fact that you mentioned gaining traction takes time and that basically the first 50 videos are gonna suck😢But its all about evolving😮Thats really cool. Suddenly feeling optimistic❤
You are the best ❤
Thanks for the tips 🎉
Keep going we'll support you all the time 😊
Thank you for this video and for sharing your story.
2 mins in and I hit subscribe & I’m commenting, which I never do. You are so special, such a vibe, can’t wait to keep watching! ❤
I’m currently on my 4th attempt at growing a RUclips channel, using everything I’ve learned from my failed channels. Thank you for the advice, I’m always learning!
Also I’m 40 and I can promise you there will be much more cringing as you get older! 😂
I start my channel today and I’m still working on my first upload 😊
@@Mrmysterious-dj1ov Good luck!

Love your honest advices! Eye, mind and heart are the main viewer attraction ! Be real and authentic is key.
So I've been off and on with uploading on youtube for the last 2 years and this year it finally hit me that if I want to have a personal brand with a strong online presence:
I NEED TO POST ON RUclips.
As Goggins says "You'll never see a hater that's doing better than you."
Here I go - scripting, filming and editing will commence as of this week.
You are the most adorable content creator I have ever seen. Very authentic and super helpful. Thanks deep!
i love how it's so reassuring every time i watch your video,
thank you so much ruri

As someone who is working on his RUclips channels as a side project and felt overwhelmed, videos like this are really comforting and mean a lot to people like me I must say. Thank you, enjoy watching your content as always.
4:19 - When you fade a title with a drop shadow, you need to combine the fill and shadow as a "precomp" or nested comp so that they both fade at the same time. What you have is the elements fading separately on two different layers, which causes the shadow to fight with the fill.

the most amazing thing is that people encouraging each others ❤️😍🇧🇩
My biggest issue is to not make videos boring. Storytelling doesn't come natural to me so I'd love to see some in depth videos about that (or someone link me to resources you've found helpful for that, can be on another platform, too).
Ruri! So excited to hear that you're starting a course! I love your attitude, approach and truly appreciate all the knowledge and experience you're sharing 🙏
Done Please 🤍💜🤍💜
Tons of respect for you, Ruri, to have accomplished so much at such a young age. I'm watching your videos at 33, and gaining so much value
thanks Ruri!!! this is so motivational, useful and inspiring. I definitley want to push through, so the consistency and motivation to create is very helpful. Congrats on the success, wishing you more to come!

You sound so honest in comparison to all these other channels giving YT tips.
This video was exactly what I needed! Thank you Ruri, you always make things simple, understandable, and actionable:)
Done Please 💜💜💜💜💜
Thank you so much for this video. Started my channel and not getting any views discouraged me so bad but i'm not giving up.
I love how you said "market research" 377 times but not once explained what that is when it comes to creating RUclips videos.
It’s pretty self explanatory bud 4:22 it starts and basically you watch videos in your niche and view their content from an analytical perspective
Thanks, Ruri!
I am a total newbie too, I have so much to learn in terms of what contents to create and how to create them professionally. Good luck to you!
“If you’re cringing your past self, that means, you grow up and changed which is a good sign.” - Ruri’s mom.
Haha, I LOVE this. I cringe so hard at my past self 😆
Me too😂 it’s sooooooo bad
No it means u hate ur past self. Or don't like it.
it doesn't @@josephisaround
Just starting my RUclips journey (creating my channel, doing research etc.) I have watched tons of videos like this one but yours was honestly the best and most engaging. You explained things so well and it was really helpful.
Making a RUclips video is hard. Getting subscribers is harder. But i believe my youtube channel will grow eventually as i get to learn more about RUclips by God's grace in Jesus name. Amen. Thank you, Ruhi Ohama. ❤❤❤❤❤

I absolutely love you!!! I found you 24hrs ago and can’t stop listening to your channel!
