  • What's going on everyone!!!!
    Welcome back to another helpful video of which this time we are setting up my new (used purchase) ASUS wireless gaming router. I've upgraded my previous wireless router because of the increase of wireless device I've added to my network.
    For example, once a Blue Moon I would perform a live stream on RUclips and noticed that there were some network latency with my connection while my children was watching RUclips videos or even school work. So, I did a little network troubleshooting and found the bottle neck was my old router and I needed to upgrade.
    So in this video, I am going to show you the process for setting up an ASUS gaming router. This router is very easy to setup so please relax, kick up your feet and enjoy!

      Yes that is correct, all gaming routers connect to the ISP router via ethernet connection.
      It sounds like your ISP router is in the basement (?) and your gaming system is in the bedroom which I am going to assume your gaming using a wireless connection.
      If that is correct, I have a similar setup which my son uses the gaming router "wireless" connection for his game console which plays games lag free. Basically, my ISP router is in the basement and the gaming router is on the first floor. I have a 50ft ethernet cable between my gaming router to my ISP router.
      This setup allows my gaming router to project a wireless signal to all floors without any issues. Shucks I even go outside my house to chill in my backyard and watch RUclips videos while enjoying nature. So trust me, this gaming router has served my needs.
      Hope this information helps you.

      My bad GQ, I thought I had responded to you. This is a good gaming router for game consoles. I have both an Xbox and PlayStation connected to this router through a wireless connection and the games play fine.

    • @AWordFromMrJones
      @AWordFromMrJones  3 года назад +1

      Hello, have you tried a complete uninstall of your graphic drivers? Also, what temperature is your GPU running? You can observe this from right clicking on Widows task bar and go to Task Manger.
      From Task Manager go to Performance and scroll down to GPU and look at the TEMPs. Play a video on RUclips and look at the level the temps increase. Then launch a computer game and monitor the temps (easy can be down if you have dual monitor).
      Temps around 60-65c are ok but when you see the temps increase furthermore then you have an issue with GPU overheating.

      Have your tried a hard power cycle of the router? Also keep the router in a vented location for proper air flow.

    • @AWordFromMrJones

      It’s been working great for me thus far. No issues with connectivity around the house.

      @@AWordFromMrJones that’s good I wanna know how I can reduce my ping with that router

    • @AWordFromMrJones
      @AWordFromMrJones  3 года назад +1

      @@PRDragon Honestly it depends because a lot comes into play with it comes to HIGH Ping which = to Increase Game Lag. For starts, your connectivity @ home is the first approach.
      - What type of upload/download speeds are you getting?
      - What type of connection is your computer using (wireless/hard wired)?
      - How many devices are activity communicating to your router?
      - What type of data are those devices communicating to the router?
      - What is the server specs of the game that you are playing online?
      - This you will not know unless your hosting the server,
      - How many users are connected to that server?
      - This can also affect your game experience when your gaming on a server that has over 50 people connected and is not properly spec to handle the load.
      The ASUS Gaming routers, such as the ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 has an "Game Acceleration" mode where it prioritize game network packets to minimalize pings. However as stated before, a lot comes to play when it comes to high pings. So there is no 1 solution to solve the issue, it's more of a "system configuration" that must be reviewed and addressed.
      Not to mention, PC specs and NIC settings also come to play. Hopefully this information helps.

    • @AWordFromMrJones
      @AWordFromMrJones  3 года назад

      @@PRDragon How much is your ISP dedicating for speed? Your upload speed should somewhat be near your download. Also are you using a hard wired connection?

    So I don’t have to use the one in my house

    • @AWordFromMrJones
      @AWordFromMrJones  2 года назад

      So this is what you would do.
      1) Install the new gaming router.
      2) Configure the wireless network.
      3) Join your devices.
      4) Finished, now access the old router settings.
      5) From the old router, disable the wireless network.
      6) Finished
      You will always leave the ISP router powered on but to have the ISP wireless network disabled.
      Hope this helps.

    How to find isp offf my router?

    • @AWordFromMrJones
      @AWordFromMrJones  2 года назад

      Your ISP is your internet service provider such as Verizon, Comcast etc. If your in a dorm or hotel you won't be able to find out unless they have wireless routers broadcasting the ISP name.
      Side note, you can open Command Prompt and run a "nslookup" of your default gateway which will display the ISP router name.

    If you want vlans avoid this one. It seems to have the capability in the hardware and firmware, but not in the UI. It appears to be a common problem with Asus. I'm looking to replace mine.
