So I am going to see what Brother N Scan cut do for me with vinyl. Thank you Kim for your pearls of wisdom and your kindness in sharing! Merry Christmas 🎄🌟🕯️🙏🏼❤️
That was one of the first things I did when I got my Scan n Cut - cut vinyl to personalize everything imaginable and yes, just as you say, it sticks forever.....even on my cups and glasses - but I don’t put them in the dish washer. I cut a piece of vinyl just a bit bigger than I need rather than stick a whole sheet on the mat. I didn’t catch what the name of what your font was. I love it. Great tutorial and again I have to say the newbies are lucky to have you as a teacher - none better.
Thanks so much Pat. I am so glad you liked my non-traditional vinyl tutorial. I just use whatever I have to get the job done. The font is called Misses and it is free to download. You reminded me of a couple of things. I am sharing the link to the font with you and you made me remember to put it in the description. Also, I think it would be good for me to do a tutorial on how to install fonts on your computer. It is on my BIG list of tutorials to make. Here you go. www.dafont.com/misses.font

@paperdchef great video I really appreciate and enjoyed this content thank you for taking your time to teach others the things that you have learned over time. ....i have a small but very helpful suggestion/tip for you. With time i have learned that the Cricut brand transfer paper has a very strong adhesive. It is actually stronger then most transfer papers wich causes it to be a bit more difficult for someone to peel it away from their stencil/design easily. On the other hand the masking tape transfer paper is made with a slight bit less adhesive still enough adhesive to transfer your stencil/design on to it but less adhesive to easily transfer your design onto your canvas of choice and pull the transfer tape away smoothly and effortlessly. Please give it a try, i am almost positive you will like the masking tape transfer paper a lot better besides you wont loose anything by try, as a matter of fact I believe it is less expensive then the cricut brand. I really hope this was helpful and if you decide to try it please let me know what you think by replying to my comment. Good luck and much blessings to you
I have a couple of rolls of Cricut Transfer Tape but I am always willing to try new things. I keep reusing my paper so it is not very sticky after a couple of uses. I do thank you for your suggestion. I appreciate you watching.

Oh I love that idea. I usually move the background but I was finding that it ripped my letters. I’m going to give that idea a whirl and will give you a shout-out.
Did real well with the video and got my name done the only problem I had is I could not get it to stick to the scan and cut no matter how hard I scrubbed and white and did everything I could not get it to stick it want to stick to that tape release you talked about is there a trick that I don't know about
Lester, one trick is to rub hard on one corner because once you get that to stay, the rest peels off if the letters were welded together. Don't give up. Keep on trying and rubbing to cause friction.
You can use the Half Cut when cutting vinyl with an SDX or a blade depth of 1.5 when using a CM model. The font size all depends on how sticky your mat it, how sharp your blade is, etc. It cuts tiny objects. You just have to do a test cut. If you can see it clearly and read it, the ScanNCut can cut it.
Thanks for the tips. I'm new to using vinyl & can't wait to try it out. I have a DX350 machine. I don't have the half cut feature, will it work the same as your video if I just adjust the cut pressure?

Dear Papered Chef, Do you know any way to safely remove some of the stickness from the Brother Scan n Cut SDX Standard Mat : CADXMAT STD 12? We love the way the machine works, but the mat is so sticky the left over paper sticks to the mat ver tightly and it takes a half hour or more to get the mat clean enough to use again,. I would like to know how to make the mat less sticky without ruining it. Thank you. Our Brother Scan n Cut is the SDX 125e. We just got it at Christmas 2020.
You are very welcome. I personalized my machine soon after I purchased it. It is so fun to be able to create such a precise vinyl name. Thanks for watching Erica.
I am very dissatisfied with the Brother Scan N Cut machine and its accessories. Had I made the effort to research consumer reviews before I purchased my machine, I would NOT have purchased the machine in the first place. As, every review I read did not have positive comments to share. I can't say that I was surprised. For starters, I was not aware that it will not cut out rubber stamps that do not have a solid line around the circumference of the stamp. That is the only reason why I purchased the product. Secondly, I was coerced into purchasing the Enhanced Image Tracing Card by one of Brother's 'Help Center' Associates which ended-up NOT working for me since the machine will not cut my rubber stamps out in the manner in which I need for it to. I called the company was told that "since I did not purchase the card from them, they cannot refund or credit me." How ironic is it that they would penalize me for not purchasing the card from them when they do not sell the card in the first place. I no longer wonder 'why' Brother does not have more retail stores selling their products. Their customer service and product policies fall within the SHAM-RUN boundaries. PLEASE reconsider any purchases of this companies products, especially if you are planning to use the machine to scan and cut your rubber stamps. I learned the hard way!
Cindy Giruzzi I’m sorry you feel this way. There is a work around for cutting out stamped images which are not fully enclosed. You can enclose the images with a pencil, Scan and Cut and then erase the marks later. I only have to do this once in a while because most most my stamped images cut out just fine. Sorry you have had a bad experience with Brother. Customer Service was easy to work with when I had to return one of my machines. They even called me back to follow up and ask me if my new machine was working fine which it was. I do understand that we all have different experiences and it depends on who we talk to. I hope you don’t give up on your machine.
Just got my sdx125 Scan n cut today. How the heck do I get the paper off? Tried the little spatula that came with it but it just rips & sticks even more. Now it's so thin I can't get the tool under the paper.
Hi Sue, the only time a mat is very sticky is when you first get a machine. the first paper to use is the one that came with the machine. Do your Welcome Project. I also like to use Stampin' Up! designer series paper because it doesn't have a lot of fibers. If you used card stock right away, it probably got stuck all over. You can make the mat less sticky by using it as a lint remover on your clothes. However, if it is already too late and paper is stuck everywhere, then just wash your mat with warm soapy water using Dawn dish detergent. Then, scrape it off.
Sue M Ot will only be sticky for a little while. You will soon find out that you need to restick your May often. You really have no choice because you need to get your paper off and if you scrape too hard, the coating comes off.
I checked and made the font on the machine as small as it would let me. The smallest height it would allow was 0.07" and it looked like a little spec. Bottom line is to make things as small as you want where they are still readable.
