Just wanted to say ‘Thank You’ for making such clear and easy tutorials for us all to learn from. I have had my Scan n Cut for a while now, and the vinyl etc, but didn’t really understand where to start - you have made it seem so easy!! So I’m off to give it a try................ Sheena (UK) x
Well that is awesome! I want my tutorials to build confidence! You got this! Go forth and master your ScanNCut and I hope to see you around and commenting on other videos. I’ve created tutorials on 3 different ScanNCut models now but all lessons can be applied to other machines.
Papered Chef - I will, and now that I have found you, I have subscribed, rung the bell 🔔 and have watched five videos so far this morning!! You’re not helping me get the housework done!!! 🙄but hey, the dust will wait and will still be there tomorrow - right? 🤣
Lottieloobylou Oh how fun! You are binge watching craft videos instead of cleaning. Been there - done that! Thanks for commenting so I know you’re out there.
Thanks Susan! You can do small vinyl projects with transfer tape. You just have to eyeball it. You can also use other craft tools to weed with. I’m glad you plan on trying it.
So I just got a Mug press for Mother's Day from my hubby and I have been told that you can use it without a Cricut cutting machine, well I can't seem to do that. I have tried to use it with my ScanNCut and it just can't be done.. So I guess next month I will have to add a Cricut joy to my crafty items..
Norine, I’ve used so many kinds of vinyl and I really don’t think it matters. Cricut makes pretty durable vinyl in that it stays on my cups for about a year before it starts peeling off. I only hand wash the cups and mugs. Glad you are learning a lot.
Thank you for sharing your tutorials. They’re re great. I’m learning so much, I have a Scan and Cut2 . I am also a Stampin Up demonstrator so I watch your videos there as well. I have tried to find the font you used (Milkshake) and I can’t find the one you use. Will you share where you got it, please?
You can get that font from Font Squirrel. I also have an entire course on working with fonts where I show how to download amazing fonts from several web sites and how to use them in different ways. Thanks for watching. www.udemy.com/course/brother-scanncut-working-with-fonts/?referralCode=74D9FE2F0B3E63B58EFA
Great tutorial!! Is there anything you can put over the vinyl to keep it on longer then a year? Also can you do tutorial on a iron-on using the computer fonts? Or a pic from clip-art? I would like to make a few Mario shirts for my grandson. Don't know where to start. Tfs 💕
Oh yes! There is heat transfer vinyl which you can use. I just use the sticker vinyl because that is what I have a lot of. I cover using iron on material in my Advanced Course. My Mom was my guest. She sewed a bag for my sister and ironed on her name I cut out. thepaperedchef.com/brother-scanncut-courses
Great idea! I use sticker vinyl but heat transfer vinyl may be better for that. I’m not sure where all of my plain bone folders are. If I find one, I can show you but I really want my students who watch my videos to follow along and apply what they learn here. Follow these steps and resize your text and you have vinyl small enough for a bone folder.
Oh yes, you can cut vinyl with any model of ScanNCut. I’m on my 3rd one now. Here is a Basic Series which will help you learn how to use your ScanNCut. ruclips.net/video/NrXTxdJz2cY/видео.html
Oh yes Terrie, you can use any font on your machine or even a shape or pattern. Then, you just use vinyl instead of paper and a blade depth of 1.5. It will be nice if you personalize items. The vinyl sticks onto mugs really well as long as it doesn't go into the dishwasher.
Beth, here is what you need to get started. Vinyl and transfer tape. I use Cricut and many other brands like Oracle. I only have to replace my vinyl about once a year and that is when I use my mugs a few times a week or even every day. I just don't put them in the dishwasher. I hand wash them. Here are links to products to get you started. Cricut Vinyl - Chocolate Brown: amzn.to/2TPTzmc Cricut Transfer Tape: amzn.to/2U5fd53
I used Cricut brand. Check out my bunny vinyl projects too which I recently published. I used Brother vinyl for the grass. Here is the link to the vinyl. Cricut Vinyl - Cocoa: amzn.to/2W57ALd
Great job!
Thank you! Cheers!
Another great video. You explain each step so well. Hubby has asked me to personalize 2 coffee mugs for his friends.
Thank you, Kim, I am really enjoying your videos.
Great Donna Jo! I hope you will give vinyl a try because it is so fun to personalize items.

Great idea for using plain items and making them pretty....
could you use the alphabet on the Scan N Cut and do this?
