I have been thinking of buying the Garmin Approach g80 and looked up almost all reviews on RUclips. I have to say, yours was the most practical and informative review of them all. Subscribed !
Okay...had my first session with the g80...all good until the 9 iron...but I don't trust the numbers with higher clubs including driver. I might be doing something wrong !...used both range and normal balls...I am a bit confused.
BK. Thanks for the detailed review. I bought a G80 but knowing you bought both- if you only could afford 1 and you wanted to have the best device to help you on the golf course, would you pick your S62? Seems the caddy function and shot tracker are really valuable in lowering your scores. I might return it. Thanks.
Great question! Yes, I would 100% buy the S62 over the G80. The G80 has become a great practice aid and is fun playing target practice, but I still primarily use my S62 every round. The shot tracking, caddy mode, and the range finder on your wrist are invaluable during the round. The only advantage for the G80 is the screen size, but that is about it on the course.
G80....bringing this to the range and dialing in each of your clubs is invaluable. Knowing what exactly each club carries will knock off at least 5-8 strokes. Especially your wedges, you can know how far your half & 3/4 swings go
Thats awesome about the launch monitor though. I just recently got one as well, my first. (sc300i). I've found it incredibly helpful. I can't put a "strokes gained" value on it yet, cause recently I've been in "I wanna hit a lotta balls" mode haha. *not meaning bad play, just havin the course to myself and not playing scored rounds lol carry distances, working out the diminishing distances I achieve as fatigue wears on, getting spin numbers and apex numbers (estimating descent angle), and looking at launch angle/backspin/contact point on face to estimate my angle of attack with the driver. I've actually added quite a bit of carry so far just by getting number feedback beyond seeing the ball fly It's made a big difference so far, and were just getting started! I say "it's" but obviously its the data not the actual machine lol. We need our games down to a science! Sun Tzu...... we plan ahead of the round.... once we are in battle, we do not think, we execute.
I think you can always over analyze in anything, but I’ve found comfort in knowledge. Being able to know more about my game, my distances, etc goes a long way out on the course. The target practice is just plain fun! 😂
@@BogeyKingGolf I like using it just for exercise too, watching swing speeds and working on just maximizing them and not worrying where the ball goes lol.
It’s supposed to account for that when it calculates the distance from the hole. I’m someone that never really considers it (probably should), but haven’t really experienced too many issues without it. The device still works great after a couple of years. It’s convenient to have in the bag. Especially for range sessions. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I’ve only seen a couple (including mine), but they were all clear and had good color. Little bit of glare in the sun, but decent quality. I’d return/exchange it.

Are those range balls. I understood it not to work with ranges balls

It hasn’t rained for over a month and now it’s unleashing on us for the holiday weekend!

Just received my G80. The display seems dark, colors muted, almost looks black and white. Were anyone elses display like that?

The music is painful, too late its in my head. I have G80 and it is as good as it looks.
Thanks for the feedback! Hopefully it didn't stick around too long! I love using the G80. Great device! Thanks for watching!
