Not sure if this was because of my request for you to pair the Garmin with Awesome Golf on the MLM2 pro launch video, but this is exactly what I was talking about. That one simple change (switching to the Awesome Golf software) fixes almost everything wrong people are experiencing with the unit. It was 100% a software issue not a hardware issue.

I picked up an R10 last summer and have been pretty happy with it. Although one thing I’d add to your list of things to make it as accurate as possible is a good stand for it. In addition to properly leveling the device, most of them have a place in them to put an alignment stick to alleviate the problem you had in the video of not having it pointing perfectly straight. Good video Gabe!

I also wanted to ask for a suggestion of how to properly align the R10 if you didn’t have an alternative launch monitor to compare it with? Not that you would necessarily know that it was out of alignment unless you were dead certain of your swing accuracy, and let face it, how many of us mortals who may be in the market for this sort of device are that good? Thanks for your great videos, I enjoy them all.

Great video. I have been really enjoying my Garmin R10 mostly using the Awesome Golf app for the range features and E6 for the virtual golf. I have been using normal balls up to now but have recently been contemplating getting the RCT balls. This video has convinced me they're worth the investment for the extra accuracy. Just curious how durable they are. My normal gamers are much cheaper but one ball is pretty scuffed up after one decent range session and getting pretty beat up after 2-3. How well do these RCT balls hold up when hitting a lot of wedge and short iron shots where the grooves take their toll?

I have mine at 7'8" behind tee, level to mat exactly, perfectly in line, use Vice tour balls with three metallic dots in line with eachother. Will try the RCT balls. Q. Any idea how I can improve accuracy on spin rate out on the course? I know I spin my wedges about 7000-10.000, but they either come up as 1000, or cursive somewhere between 2000-3500.
I hit my wedges 100m and in quite high, but I just can’t get a proper reading on them (distances are usually within 3m or so).

I have several devices that Garmin R10, ES 14 and a blast Golf device. I have found the Garmin R1.0 to be incredibly accurate with anything less than an iron iron as your video states the longer the club and total distance appears to be way off. The spin rates on longer clubs with theR10 seem extremely off. The ES14 is an all device, but seems to be very accurate. The Golf blast device is another incredible piece of equipment, for putting chipping, bunkers swings, swings for speed, drills, etc. is a very handy device. The Garmin is a very cool piece of equipment, but if it’s not exact, your numbers are very skewed

LPT will the RCT balls going to be picked up if I have a net outside? I don't have the real estate for an indoor setup but have a nice outdoor net I hit into. Just wondering if it would make a difference indoor vs outdoor for the R10 to track the ball (especially if I pick up those RCT's).

  • @Natedoc808

The bushnell calling for a 30 yd roll out on your driver seems to be the more likely to be inaccurate, but it's likely just due to the formulas used to calculate it based on the predicitive data. As you said, carry distance is the number to look for.

Hey Gabe hope you are doing well. Good vid. I wish you would have put more parameters on the screen. I haven't watched any recent videos with the R-10. But alongside spin, one of the main issues w/ the unit was measuring SPIN AXIS which would show an actual draw to appear as a fade or a hook in the sim or Fade to show as a draw or slice. Like we saw in the video. The last 5 iron you hit after you adjusted the unit looks like the spin axis was wrong again. Hence the huge difference in carry.

Well done video, nicely presented and cool setup. But what I was waiting for the whole time was that I want to see lateral deviation of the shots and the according data. Length is fun and games, but if I'm trying to improve my swing target accuracy is way more important. I do feel if I hit the ball center and know how far it should fly, I don't need a launch monitor to tell me that. I can tell if that distance number is wrong or not. What can be really difficult when hitting into a net is however to feel the difference between an outside-in or inside-out swing path or an opened or closed clubface on impact.
Why weren't you comparing club path, face to path, face to target, distance to left or right and maybe spin axis to see if a 600.- device can compete with the Bushnell? Does anyone have experience with these parameters? I am very interested in buying a launch monitor for 500 to 700.-, but if it misinterprets a fade to a draw then that is going to add more confusion to my training sessions than help. And maybe mess up my golf swing for good X-)... I honestly would have expected a video like this to adress this question...
However, still a solid and well done video, just (hopefully unintentionally) missed out on some vital info as far as I am concerned.

Nice video of setting it up indoors. How is the performance and setup outdoors? The golf course I'm practicing is using floater golfballs at the range. How does this affect the accuracy? I will not use Titleist golfballs on the range, knowing they will be lost forever, after a single shot ;-) But are the numbers still usable for training or will they differ a lot from reality?
So, is the device only suitable for usage indoors and outdoors is not accurate enough to use it for training?

    • @LetsPlayThru
      @LetsPlayThru  Год назад +2

Outdoors it’s better than indoors, no special RCT balls needed. Now with floaters, they usually don’t fly as far, so the R10 is going to give you an accurate number of how far the floater flies, but not how long a regular ball flies.

They are also very new so they are regularly adding updates (I'd assume 18 hole courses are next).

How about hitting a draw, will the R10 show a draw? I have the R10 and the problem that I have (with a driver and using RCT ball) with it is that it pretty much goes straight - straight, straight -left or, straight right. No drawing flight like with the Foresight with the local golf store.

Hey there - I just bought an R10 from Playbetter, I have its 6'6 from the ball with 8'6 of ball flight and anything below a 9 iron reads 10-50 yards off. For example, I hit a 7 iron about 160 carry, but it reads its between 90-130 carry. I cannot get it to read correctly I have tried absolutely everything and I'm about to return it. Do you have any recommendations before I go return it and spend a lot more money haha? Your results here are very promising i just wish I could replicate that.

Well, in addition to the steps, I mention in the video, make sure that your area is free of large metal objects or big patches of concrete. That often interferes with the readings. Hopefully you’ll get it fixed, good luck.

Been seeing odd spin numbers with my R10 lately. I’ve had it for about a year but my swing and ball speed has also jumped quite a bit. 7 iron and up gets really low spin numbers (2000ish) which creates inaccurate carry. I use the e6 software though. I’ll have to try that app but I’d like to see if the RCT balls make a difference. Where do you get them?

When it did I switched to 7 iron and just literally forgot to include that. Although the side by side screens should show it. It’s also why you don’t see side by side screens with the 9 iron, because that file got corrupted when the power went out. Crazy day.

I have the garmin for about a year now and i have to say i am pretty disappointed with it. i use it at the driving range, so i can see the ball flight and the garmin is very often showing wrong flight curves. Even worse is when it shows something like path 2 deg right, face to path 2 deg left, real ball flight is a nice draw, but the spin axis is displayed as 450 rpm right and the garmin shows a fade or even slice curve. like, wtf. Just makes me not trust anything the garmin shows me, so frustrating.
