    Love mine it clips on to the trolley and will last at least 3 rounds without recharging. Great to use with a driving net during lock down.

    I recently bought one used like new for £300. It’s great to take down the range and I really only use it for the launch monitor as I have a watch for playing. It’s easy enough to carry in your bag and get a idea of your distances. It’s good value for that as a gc quad is 50 times the price

      Hey Robert, thanks for that and yeah these units are coming down in price and that makes them a much easier buy. Thanks for watching.

    Really good review here. Honest and detailed. I've been thinking of getting one of these for the range and think the launch monitor is a great idea. Interesting to hear about the accuracy compared to the Trackman 4/GC Quad.
    Keep up the good work!

Getting Rick on was cool, I’ve always said he’s a good guy and must say he’s always replied to me when I’ve had any questions. Not sure Casey Neistat would do the same. 😂😂

    I’ve used it and I agree it’s only really good for a launch monitor. It is fairly accurate . You have to remember it’s not trackman. Only once I found it not accurate. I was using it on the course with my mate. I outdrove him by 40 yards but G80 said the difference was only 20. Side point Stu what is your new handicap under WHS. I know one lad was off +1 under congu but this new system he’s off +4.5 lol. One young kid is off +7.0 he’s an English international. My guess your off +3 or +4

    • @cartersmithgolf
      @cartersmithgolf  3 года назад

      Yeah it’s a nice little device but feel it’s already outdated and at that price it’s probably money spent else were. I’ve moved my handicap to Wales so my last run of rounds (which where low) I don’t think they are going to count. With them it would be around the +4 mark but if they keep me on +1 I won’t be complaining the amount I’ve been able to get out. 👍👍

  • @dscott333

    Awesome Video, I have one and YES it is great for dialing in your clubs, I am a lefty and it still works for me, but, sometimes it will make the DING like it recorded ny shot already when I'm making my back swing, in Virtual Tournament mode this can be frustrating when trying to compete with the lowest score possible... I have been writing in to Garmin to try and sort this out, hopefully they will get back to me on this...
    Something that would be nice, if a computer programmer could design an app to merge the dynamics of the launch monitor to a better Virtual game. With many people home, I they could buy one of these units and play E6 with it ? Or one of the Virtual course games.. they would probably sell more of these devices

    • @cartersmithgolf
      @cartersmithgolf  3 года назад

      That’s a great idea and thanks for your feedback. I think all the devices have “miss” shots one way or another even the 5 figure units like trackman etc. Thanks again

    Of all the personal launch monitors you’ve used? What do you rate the best and why? 👍

    • @cartersmithgolf
      @cartersmithgolf  3 года назад

      I’d say as far as portability and pretty good accuracy it would be the Flight scope Mevo plus although it’s not cheap (actually far to expensive at £1999) it’s not really in the “personal” range. As the smaller ones use Doppler tech it means they are all pretty similar in accuracy. The Garmin is probably the neatest with all its other features etc.

    Great review but have a question. I noticed that the device you were using (appears on screen right) the screen appears faded out. Just got mine but very disappointed with screen. The G80 that you edited into view from left was very clear.
    Not sure if mine has a problem or not. Thanks

    • @cartersmithgolf
      @cartersmithgolf  3 года назад

      Yeah the real screen was the one on the right. The left is a screen capture. I wasn’t very impressed with the screen in daylight (that day was particularly bright) but it was enough to not see so didn’t mention that. I’m always used to iPhones etc so thought it was a thought comparison.

      It's the transflective screen type that does this, same with their watches. It might look dull but the advantage is that it will be visible in direct sunlight without using a backlighting.

    Quick question mate. Not sure if you still use it or not but on the Virtual round, does it take into account if you are hitting over water (say the 17th at TPC Sawgrass) and you drop your shot short into the drink?

    • @cartersmithgolf
      @cartersmithgolf  3 года назад +1

      Hi Mike, yes I believe it does. It’s calculated through your ball speed so gives a good indication of if it’s short (in water) and plays accordingly. 👍

    I have a number of other Garmin GPS devices. This one has the worst screen of any product from anybody, EVER! (A big shock that Garmin had this poor quality in their more expensive lineup.) All the other Garmin products have perfect colors. This one... Well, let's just say that the screen looks like it's broken. That's how bad it is. (Truly bad.) It´s a joke! (My really old G6 looks like a brand new mobile phone with full HD in comparison to what this shit looks like with the product's best settings.)
    One thing is for sure - I will NEVER buy anything from Garmin again, sorry. (This was money down the drain.) Why did they decide to save money on the screen?! Do they want to get a bad reputation?! Every other product from them the last 20 years has had great screens but this?! Oh, my God!
    I would actually have preferred if this was black and white (that how bad the color is.) Naturally, I demand that it has the same bright color every other Garmin product has, but hey, if it was black and white I would have known what t expect. I considered taking a hammer and literally taking it out on this shit product. (I will NEVER use it and I going to hate to see it at home so why not?!) Smashing it to pieces and get rid of it sounds like a great plan right now.
    Thanks, a lot to all the "genius" who has made reviews here on youtube about the G80 without mentioning this - Really great job (not) But at least I can dislike and unsubscribe. + $500 I could have spent way better. So "grateful".
    Also a big thank you to Garmin... Never again! (Perhaps I make my own RUclips video where I smash all my Garmin products just to let out some steam...) That's actually a good plan. I Will get back to you all with the link. Time for some smashing!

    • @cartersmithgolf
      @cartersmithgolf  3 года назад +1

      Yeah i did think it’s was lacking tbh. The unit felt pretty sturdy similar to a mobile phone from the 90s and the screen quality to match. Thanks for watching and get me that link if you have a mass smashing that would be a brilliant video. 😂😂😂 👍👍
