    wish u would have talked about the long term reliability of these leveling kits, I'm interested in leveling my 2010 f150, but I keep hearing horror stories of guys needing 2 rebuild the whole front end after 1 year and replacing ball joints every 6 months.
    How reliable/durable would a 1.5" level and 33"s be on an f150, how long would my front suspension last?

    • @MaddJakd
      @MaddJakd 4 года назад

      Shouldn't be anywhere near that bad considering how many purely lifted rides are out there that actually get abused and barely need any crazy maintenance. I'd imagine the horror stories are crap kits with low quality components that weren't installed right, let alone properly adjusting anything else in the chain.

    I put on RC torsion keys to raise my 06 Sierra and switched out the stock blocks in the back to 3 inch, I also had to put longer shocks all the way around. I was able fit 33s with no rubbing, zero offset. There's a slight rake but only if your really looking for it and the ride is smooth as it was stock.

    People complain about square wheel wells but there’s no more room longitudinally or vertically even if the corners were round. Plus looking back at old trucks they were always kind of square ish. Maybe it gives more room at full lock when articulating?

    Great explanation, thanks. I purchased a 2023 F150 and I’m looking at a 2 inch front lift, that would look a lot better unloaded but I don’t if I should because when a tow my travel trailer my truck may sag to much in the back? I did install the RAS system on the back that helps a lot with rear sag when trailering. Any way, thanks for the information.

    You mentioned with the Fords you can do a 20x10 with a leveling kit and just trim the air damn at the bottom. This is kind of misleading as you showed a build you guys did with a new F-150 with 20x10's and in order to make it work you had to hack off the crash bars. I'm up in the air as to ordering a 9" or 10" wide wheels from your site for my 2016 F-150 as I don't want to cut the crash bars off. Can you please clarify what exactly has to be cut on a 10" wide wheel with say a -19 offset to fit on the newer F-150's. Thanks.

    • @MegaYangman

      I think this is by far the best way to level a truck vs a strut spacer or key.

    • @MegaYangman
      @MegaYangman 8 лет назад

      +Gm Trucks guess if you truck is just a mall crawler, spacer strut is fine. If you off-road also than the new bilstein shock and springs are the way to go. Guess it all boils down to looks or performance. They both make the truck look good though.

    • @majorityrocker
      @majorityrocker 7 лет назад

      Shock extenders? They're called struts. And no, spacers don't keep anything anywhere near factory specs. Talk about ignorance...

    • @majorityrocker
      @majorityrocker 7 лет назад +1

      I'm not a kid? I'm saying Just don't be cheap and buy a real suspension lift or buy a "shock" such as the 5100 or a fox coilover that is the correct length and you don't have to worry about all that bullshit. Too many people are being cheap and just going for a "look." I've cost myself a few thousand in repairs by cheaping out and buying a $50 spacer that these places recommend. I've lived and learned and I choose to spend the money and do it right the first time when it comes to suspension. Do what you want nobody is stopping you. I'm just trying to save people the trouble of breaking their shit. If you're a malll crawler, by all means buy spacers and all that nonsense. If you use your truck as a truck, suck it up and buy a real kit and save yourself some cash down the road

    • @majorityrocker
      @majorityrocker 7 лет назад

      I bought a spacer kit and used my truck as a truck. When I was off-roading the spacer allowed the "shock" to over extend the front suspension and caused the cv's to explode and also damaged the diff. After fixing I bought 5100's which achieve lift by preloading the springs and not lengthening the whole strut assembly. I currently have fox 2.0 coilovers on my new truck which also won't allow over-travel because the overall length is not changed, it also achieves lift by preloading the springs. We aren't even talking apples to apples here anyway. I'm talking IFS and you're apparently talking live axles. This is a video about leveling trucks with IFS.

    Will you send me a link to the specific level kit you talked about where you lift the back as well to enable towing? Not sure exactly what I need. I've got a Silverado 2500 duramax on 265 70 17. I'd like to be able to fit 33s without trimming or rubbing issues. How do you fit wider tires like 35 x 12.5 without issues? I don't completely understand that. Would I need to get new wheels or do they make a 33 inch tire for my factory 17 inch wheels?

  • @lynnmckenney1987

    What do you think about 3" keys and 3" spacers for the rear coils? Is 3" too much for a leveling kit? Would it put too much stress on everything, shortening the life of wheel bearings/etc?
    It would be on an 02 avalanche z71
    Was looking at the supreme suspension kit as it would be around $170 for the keys and rear spacers.

  • @MidwinterEclipse

    I purchased my 6" rc lift from your website. I'm about to get it installed this weekend I currently have the duck head torsion keys to level my avalanche. When the 6" lift goes on do we have to remove the duck head keys and reinstall the old original factory torsion keys or just leave the duck head keys. Also with the new 6" lift would I have to level the truck in the front at all?

      V8outdoors you should be, bigger tire bigger clearance

    • @austinfontenot8955
      @austinfontenot8955 6 лет назад

      What actually creates ground clearance is a bigger tire. A 35 creates an extra inch of ground clearance over a 33.
      Lifts do NOT create more ground clearance. Your axles are still sitting where they were to start. The point of the lift is to allow a bigger tire so that your ground clearance goes up.
      The reason a 35 inch tire is only one inch difference than a 33 is that you're splitting those two inches on both sides of the tire. It sticks up one more inch towards the fender and one more inch towards the ground.
      This is why body mods and suspension conversions are so big for rock crawlers and such. It's not about being taller. That actually lifts your center of gravity and makes rollover more common. It's about fitting as big of a tire as possible on something with as low as a center of gravity as is feasible for your approach and descent angles. Cutting a fender makes a bigger tire possible without having to physicaly lift the vehicle.

    How do I know what shocks I'm supposed to get to better the ride? I plan on doing a 3.5 level kit on my 2014 Silverado 2wd so I can run 22x12 on 33" M/T. I've been searching for a couple of months and I have yet to see what shocks, both front end and rear end, I can buy after my truck has been leveled. I also wanted to do a 4 inch lift, and again, I'm still not sure what front and back shocks I can buy and what their measurements should be.

      +Custom Offsets I am talking about buying shocks after I have already installed the lift. I want to know which shocks specifically fits into my truck

    I have a 4 inch fabtech on a Chevy.
    I'm getting the adjustable bilistien shocks to replace my struts. Can i keep the spacer and the struts?

      @CustomOffsetsTV  6 лет назад

      If it's a stock shock replacement then it will be maxed out on a 4" lift and we won't recommend running that.

      according to my extensive research on diesels; no matter how high you go with lifting, the amount of torque any diesel produces..lifting them will barely ever effect towing especially with larger tires. I noticed that your comment was 7 mo ago haha.

    Shawn so are you saying the first one mentioned (TCG) gives an advantage over the spacers up above the spring because it creates more clearance?

    • @CustomOffsetsTV
      @CustomOffsetsTV  6 лет назад +1

      They both are a spacer for the strut, and work essentially the same way Jason, just used in different locations on the strut

    If you did the 2" level on a 2013 Silverado. Could you put on 285/70/17 on factory wheels without needing to trim?

    I have a 2015 Ram 1500, and I want to get a leveling kit for it. But I've heard that the ball joints are separating with these model trucks if a leveling kit is installed. Have you guys had any problems with this ??

    Thanks for the video. I've got a 2019 Jeep GC Limited, Hemi, tow package(Sachs nivomat shocks) 20" factory wheels. The rake is 2"(33"F, 35"B). I would like to get this close to level for appearance sake but am wondering can the front be aligned to factory spec? Does the change in geometry affect front end wear and tear? This is a daily driver that sees quite a bit of highway use so durability matters. Thanks!! I might be interested in bringing it up and have you do it.

      Any modification to the suspension will adversely affect the wear and tear on the suspension, some vehicles more noticeably than others. As for alignment, it can be adjusted as close to factory spec as possible!

    Does the torsion leveling keys affect the ball joints?

    • @CustomOffsetsTV
      @CustomOffsetsTV  6 лет назад

      Torsion leveling kits won't persay "affect them detrimentally. As long as they aren't cranked. Once you start cranking the keys up, it'll put more stress and strain on the ball joints Austin!
