I work at discount tire and we reset sensors for free.. just go to discount tire and ask to get ur sensors reset and we will hook you up and it will only take about 5 minutes.
Thanks for the tip. I need to go to discount tires, because the dealer service department keeps on giving me the runaround. My TPMS warning light has been coming on since last year with the message that says, "Error: Tire monitor currently not available." All they do is reset it and it just comes back on weeks later. smh
Got a tool for $16 off of amazon that relearned my already mounted/balanced wheels and tires that I ordered from you guys in about 30 seconds no joke. I have a lifted ‘18 Colorado Z71.
I can wait to get my wheel and tires in(18" fuel Mavericks with Toyo RTs)! I ordered TPMS sensors with them but did not even think I would have to reprogram it... But oh well I looked it up and 2015 ram 1500s learn the new sensors after 15 mins of driving! I'm so glad I have a ram.
i used to be an employee at discount tire and i wish that for are customers this tpms video was there to explain why its needed or doesnt work.. couldve of put any better myself
I'll try to explain my TPMS mishap. 2018 Silverado. Had 22'' wheels but got a different set and tires. Shop puts them on. The sensors read crazy for a while. Like one said 72 psi on left rear tire. Then I stop to let out air and even them out. When I kill the engine and put the ignition on it shows a different tire at 70 something psi. Now the dash shows the 4 different PSI's. Two on the left and two on the right with a truck facing up. Well the two readings on the left are actually the front two tires. Not the driver's side like its showing. and the two on the right are the rear tires. Pain in the ass. Thanks for looking out for me Gubbmint.
I have a 98 fixing to give to my daughter. After test driving and looking into a new truck. I can't justify the $900 payment for 7 yrs. The price of these things are absolutely ridiculous. Remember I gave 23k for my 98 and to replace it with basically the same. They are running around 60 to 65k. Think I'm better off just getting her a car.
Praying to overlord xenu mine goes smoothly. Went well with my 17's but I reused the stock sensors. Going up to 20x10's and 37's on my 2008 Grand Cherokee.
if your having problems just go to Discount tire for a free air check and then tell them that your light is still on and then they will relearn them for free.
This is the exact reason why when my wheels and tires get delivered from y'all I'm going to my dealership to my guy for a "tire rotation" so they will install my wheels and sync the TPMS with the TPS
I have a set of mayhem rampage and when the shop tried to install the OEM style TPMS sensors they would not fit in the valve stem hole... What kind of sensors should I be looking for? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
@@mw5905 No but you can still take a peek at your tires and if one or more look low....check with a fucking gauge. So his comment makes sense. Its people being lazy. Just like blind spot sensors, self parking shit. Thats why nobody can drive anymore. They rely solely on computer shit.
@@RMYD002 Settle down big fella. There are people who don't even know what a pressure guage is for one. Also, most cars come with some serious low profile tires on them these days. It's sometimes difficult to tell the difference between 44 and 24 psi.
Shawn, you touched on a problem that ibam experiencing but haven't been able to figure out. Hope you can help me. You said the stock GM tpms sensors sometimes can't read thru aftermarket wheels. I had a RC 7.5" lift installed on my 2015 Silverado 2500HD. The shop that did the work took my sensors from the stock wheels and installed them in my new fuel mavericks. All was well, all 4 tires reporting and the psi readings showing on the dash. A week later to the truck to the dealer to have factory remote start installed. Here's where it gets weird. When they installed the remote start they had to flash the BCM. Afterwards the tpms sensors needed to be relearned but the techs computer couldn't get them to learn. His handheld device like you had wouldn't communicate with the sensor. Took the truck to 2 different shops and neither of them could communicate with the sensors either. One shop told me all my sensors were bad. I find that hard to believe since they were working fine before the dealer flashed the BCM for the remote start. So what do you guys do when you install aftermarket wheels on the newer GM trucks?
Could be a few things Maxum. Could have messed something up from the BCM to the TPMS reader in the truck, or rarity, the TPMS sensors are wonky. Try taking it back to the shop that got them to sync to the truck! We usually try to go through the tire if it won't read through the wheel!
I have a 2015 dodge 2500, when I bought new tires I went to the dealership to have them set it up, but they said that truck will do it on it's own, drive 5 miles or so and it will sense them and it did no funny stuff to do nice.
Dam. Honestly I didn't even know that was a law. 😂😂 I used to have some a long long time ago. But as soon as I see the tire pressure lowering on the truck or certain a wheel doing a small peel out, well you know what I mean . I know I gotta check the tire pressures. But a very informative video. 👍
Let me help you out bro and make this simple buy a tuner and disable TPMS sensors I live here in California and every time I take my car to get smogged I reflash the computer and put it back to stock and then once it gets smog reflash the computer put the program disable TPMS sensors and now you're on your way
Frustrating how unnecessarily difficult technology on cars has become. I was thankful for TPMS when I started getting a flat out of nowhere when I was driving on the highway. Gave me a chance to pull over in a safer place.
you should do a review on the autel 401 and 601....showing in detail how to use them....there is not any good ones on youtube...and they are very popular and a lot of people have them...I have the 501..(which from my research is the same as the 601 except 601 will read check engine lights, but if you have a scanner already you don't need it too) anyways just an idea...thanks for the video..
while im on a commenting frenzy....another question on the autel tpms thing...how the heck do you do dually trucks? mine give me options for 4 wheels or 5 wheels(when the spair has a tpms sensor) but does not give me 6 or 7 wheel options... I have a 2014 dodge 3500 and can figure out how to use my autel on it.
Ok so I would say a good 70-80% of people that order the sensors and need sensors for their vehicle, don't have the, programmed to the vehicle. And whenever you rotate your tires you have to have the sensors reset because they are in different locations. So I don't think you should run them
also, you said ask if theres anything we want to know.., if you could do a vid on wheel balancing dually tires and wheels, would be great...with like 33-37inch tires...if you use a finger plate or large cones or what? everyone on youtube is doing regular small tires and car wheels... when you do that video...it would be interesting to know if you balance a wheel, it reads 0 - 0, you take It off the machine, and then put it back on the machine, will it read 0-0 again or maybe be off a bit...I just bought a new tire machine and balancer and im having that problem, if I take it physically off the wheel balancer and put it back on it wont ready 0-0 it may be close but wont read the same, the company says my "plane" has changed from the orginal balance so it will be off, but my response is wha about when I put it on the truck, that's a different plane aswell...they cant give me an answer...anyways out of all the videos ive watched I haven't found one of people doing dually wheels and tires off a f350 or 3500 truck. thanks again.
Old video but I'll say this anyway. Like he said...TPMS is for those who can't recognize a tire thats flat just by looking at it...so for those of us who can. When you buy new wheels and tires, take your TPMS sensors and put them in a pressure canister and pressure it up to the recommended pressure. You can easily make one out of PVC pipe and end caps with a threaded air connection. Then just keep the pressurized canister with the sensors in your trunk and there ya go...lol. For thos who cant build a PVC pressure canister or don't know what a flat tire looks like, continue paying for these stupid sensors.
Tell me a way to disable the tpms light or fuse, I check my tires with a 1 buck pressure gage ever Sunday and get over with all this government bs none sense
revistadearmas we wish man. Pretty sure that is not possible and certainly not legal for us to participate in. But we here yah, for the mentally inclined these sensors are silly.
Yay for Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Ram, Volkswagen products driving for 10 or so minute at 15 miles per hour so much easier guess you could honk the horn while you're at it to but it just for fun
hey are the laws different state to state or for a 3/4 ton. I have an 08 hd and never put the censors in my new wheels and just dealt with the flashing light. the shops never said anything to me. thanks
I have ford's and you do not need to re learn the Tpms sensors after rotating tires. But when you install your steel winters you need to re learn them. Pain in the ass twice a year
Depends on the car, but yeah. The newer Jeeps and Rams relearn them automatically so lucky here. Seems silly how some of these automakers literally require a raindance for something so simple, when others down the totem pole from luxury, can come up with a hands off system. Especially with it being required by law, no doubt thanks to Cali putting their tentacles all over things as usual I bet.
I just bought some wheels for my 2010 F150. I'm planning on just swaping the wheels. Can I use my stock sensors on my new wheels or will I encounter problems?
Your a valuable resource to the truck community , thanks brother.
WhiteCloudGroovin Yes this is True, helped me and I learned a lot!😊👍
Custom Offsets Seriously! And that value you bring, is the reason why I'll be buying from you! All the way from Cali!

what's it called?
If you need to reset your sensors bring it to Discount Tire. They have that programmer and will do it for free.

With newer rams they are self programming and headache free just drive a few miles and the truck will learn on its own
so happy about this also
my 3500 wont change the location after ive rotated them, it keeps reading them but in the wrong spot...any idea..
My brand new Ram wont shut up! Going to dealership next week.
My 2017 Ram 2500 reprogrammed itself within a mile of driving. I installed my new tires and wheels myself, I didn't have to do anything with the TPMS.
supperterofsanity You are lucky. I have been dealing with syncing issues for 3 years.

on chevy 07-11 when you relearn them ,light turns on what tire to uninflate.
thank god im poor AF and own a 94 k1500

AB Banker says most duallys (to his knowledge) accept the platinum super duty dually's don't come equipped with TPMS
What happens if you rotate your tires?
If I remember right most performance monitors give you the option to turn off the TPMS system.
Guess I got lucky. On my 2016 Ram 3500 they automatically synced up to my truck when I bolted the wheels on.

Does this imply to just new Rims or both Rims and Tires?
I have ford's and you do not need to re learn the Tpms sensors after rotating tires. But when you install your steel winters you need to re learn them. Pain in the ass twice a year
The most common cause of tire loss is from over or under pressure
Underinflation/overloading is the number one cause of tire failure on vehicles.
When you get a tire rotation and oil change they will have to do the TPMS sync lol

can you pull the sensors out of the old wheels
It’s possible, they tend to break sometimes and some can’t be reused. 🤘🏼
Easiest way is to just clone the sensor.
For ford's there's a trick using a magnet to trigger the sensors
Luckily Mercedes Benz decided to make the relearning simple. Just drive it for 10 min and it relearnseems everytime
they're also on my 04 Acura MDX 😒
love the shirt!
Good shit. Keep it up
Friends don't let friends drive without tpms...
I like these videos 👌🏽️
Wow really good 👍 info..
Now thats some shit I didn't know Lol...

he needs more pens

My jeep JK did all of this automatically
what the hell that is quite the process it just left out tap your head and rub your belly
The sensors are complete shit in my experience.
You can program your wife's lexus with your tool if you plug it into the obd port instead of going to the dealership.
Where are you that TPMS is law?
Geoffrey Hunt The United States.
U dumb fuck
you draw just like me. hahaha
I've had to do that when I was in college I thought it was funny but completely idiotic
could I just zip tie them to my frame and not put them in? lol
+Custom Offsets yeah I feel like that would bug me lol
Custom Offsets or go one better and get a aftermarket ecu!
I'll just stick with my 79 Bronco 🤘
yet another reason (not that I need another) to run/maintain 'REAL' vehicle(s) than all this 'new' fkn digital crap.
TPMS=shit no matter how you spell it...I check my tires air pressure once a week and look at each tire daily...
Too many freaking "laws" in a FREE country! If it's is REQUIRED it should be universal....no mystical programming
This guy is funny AF! great video
Good lookin on the TPMS we b page
