So, i actually have the official switch pro controller, the Pro plus, and the pro 2. All of them are amazing, but if i have to choose, i'm gonna have to go with pro plus or pro 2 just because you can connect not only to the switch, but other devices as well Edit: one more thing that i love about pro plus or pro 2 is the d-pad. The official pro controller d-pad is not precise enough for me.
Gulikit Kingkong 2 Pro. It has all the features that the switch pro controller has (Including Gyro, Wake switch up from sleep, and NFC). Eventhough there is no HD rumble, the rumble feels okay, and you can adjust the rumble up to 4 levels, including no rumble at all. It has APG (macro-like function) and turbo features (limited to abxy, r and zr buttons) which I don't really use, but it's there. There is also a feature where you can swap abxy button (not physical change, but the a and b + x and y function can be swapped), which you can use if you're used to xbox layout for switch. You can also use it if you're used to switch layout on pc, since the controller detected as xbox controller on pc. You can adjust both the sticks and triggers sensitivity, for instant the triggers can be changed from analog to digital on pc. And also, the features that I interested the most, Motion-sense aiming for FPS games on pc. Basically you can use gyro aiming on a game that doesn't even have gyro support. The way it work is that the gyro movement would be detected as right stick movement on the game. Enough for the features, the feels of this controller is really good. It similar to xbox one controller, with a lot more features! (except for the headphone jack, ofc, because it's advertised as switch third-party controller). Overall, I really like this controller.
That wasn't a latency issue though. That was a connectivity issue and has been long since resolved. That wasn't drift either. It was a communication problem due to interference
No each controller gets drift go look at reviews i rather trust from the manufacturer these 3rd parties are so bad each one skills just be 30$ it’s still going to get drift issues
The 8bitdo Pro 2 is easily my favorite controller right now. I use it on my Switch and PC since it's easy to swap back and forth. I had no latency issues after the latest firmware update. I even bought the wired Xbox-licensed version to use on my Series X.
I use the Pro controller. It’s the first one I bought, so I’ve been sticking with it, it’s awesome. I was lucky enough to grab the Super Nintendo controller for the Switch, made by Nintendo, so I use that for retro stuff. Also, SMW is a f*cking gem.
Can you review the new controller GuliKit King Kong 2 PRO that I just find and curious before to get it? It claims to have hall sense magnetic joystick with no drift ever, mechanical letter buttons, amiibo, console wakeup, rumble and many other powerful features.
It's really quite nice. But if you've already got a working pro controller for your Switch, I wouldn't get it unless you really want it. It feels the same as the pro controller and Xbox controller and aside from the "driftless" sticks, it plays the same.
I really appreciate your honest response, because the 8bitdo was my favorite also. I have tried the Gulikit King Kong Pro 2 and it's a very expressive controller.
Can't say I've got a definite favorite. I change up which one I use just for the fun of it. I use the pro controller, PowerA wireless GameCube controller, and a PS5 Dualsense controller.

I have all of these controllers + binbok joycons. Pro controller is my main controller for 3d games while 8bitdo 2 pro is my main controller for 2d games, fighting games, sidescrollers, retro games. Basically any games where I use D-pad. Power A mini is great for traveling because its small and portable but still feels almost like a regular sized controller. And binbok joycons are for handheld use, they feel similiar to hori split pad pro but can still be used wirelessly and therefore its another extra controller for local multiplayer. So that way I have 4 "regular" controllers and 4 joycons which I can easily take to friends house during a party and we can play 8 player smash and hopefully 8 player mario strikers once it comes out!
I wish Nintendo made a nano version of the pro controller. With HD rumble, long ass battery life, and amiibo support. I love the Nintendo pro controller but I want something smaller to put in my sling bag.
Pro all day. Best controller I’ve ever held by far. But I have smaller hands and I can see how people with larger hands can find it a bit cramped feeling especially after coming from something like an Xbox controller. Which by the way, the 360 controller was the best fit for my smaller hands compared to any new Xbox controller. But man sweaty hands and 360 controllers was so annoying haha
You never actually mentioned the latency of the power-A Nano controller. Just kept saying it felt good. Did it have more latency than the normal pro controller?
Nice and honest review since you really wanted the 8bitdo to do better, you still pointed out it was not performance wise. But it seems like it is comfort wise. Mostly playing pokemon games so the latency doesn’t really matter for me. Looking into this one or the powerA enhanced controller but really loving the 8bitdo retro style and symmetrical sticks.. i’m also someone who plays games on PlayStation so really loving this design it’s like a mix between gameboy and playstation. So being 2024 you still recommend the 8bitdo pro 2 controller?😊
8bitdo pro 2 I used it on my Android Tablet it works fine,And I also have sn30 pro+ it felts the same.i am planing on purchasing 8bitdo Arcade Stick for my fighting Games
I use Rival Labs Gaming's Contender Wireless Contender for Switch/PC it has motion controls and NFC, Adjustable Vibration feedback, Turbo function and wireless Bluetooth technology. Only downside is the battery life which is 8 to 10 hours. I definitely want to get a 8 BitDo Pro 2 when it goes on sale as I heard it's an awesome controller. Awesome review on third party controllers.
Great format for a video! Very interesting discovery. I'd love to know: A) has a firmware update fixed the 8bitdo pro 2 lag? B) Would an 8bitdo dongle improve the lag. C) did you have more than one controller atatched to the switch, as there's a rumour the pro2 doesn't like sharing a console with other devices, and slows down in protest.
@@dawsoncjamesi assume it's basically the same. i have a pro+ (which came before) and i can play anything perfectly on it. i don't notice much lag and even speedrun a precision platformer with it
I've noticed the latency on the 8bitdo pro 2 I think it has something to do with syncing with multiple devices. There are times when I try and play on my computer and the delays are up to 3 seconds. I want to say it's due to multiple syncs, but I think another part was an update they did a while back. When I first got the controller I don't think I had any lag. So I find it interesting. Ps. I still love the controller but I think a patch might be in order.

my 8bitdo Sn30 Pro+ controller is dying on me. It’s not registering the face buttons a lot of the time now, meaning I’m missing major inputs in things like QTEs and it’s getting really frustrating. is its successor any better?
Had you updated the 8bitdo pro 2? There was a patch which was meant to help with the latency apparently (patch 1.05 mentions it). Trying to decide between this or the extra money for the official Nintendo Pro. The potential latency of the 8bitdo is putting me off, but I would like the back paddles (and cheaper cost).
@@jdxcoffee Thanks for the reply. So just to clarify. Have you updated the controller since doing the video? And the update improved the latency issue? Great video by the way. Covered the differences really well and thoroughly.
8bitdo pro 2 all the way. Would never ever use the thumb stick for Mario World. That is just stupid and weir. The dpad is unmatched on the Pro 2. As for Mario Kart, you didn't adjust the thumb stick property if you want quick turn.

I only use them on my laptop so there was no reason to get wireless. Latency is a non issue for me. I have a ln sn30 and an sn30 pro 2. Maybe give the corded ones a try. I will never buy another Nintendo controller until they can make one with a hall effect sensor joysticks with proper d-pad and abxy buttons that have tact switches.
Expected with pro2 controller. The reason you're missing time with it is because the input delay of this controller is REALLY bad. It's astounishing 33ms!!! This is the single worst controller I ever used. Start to measure this in your reviews. There are tools to do that with easy on PC as input delay is calculated by 1000ms/polling rate (in Hz). The good polling rate over USB is 3.6ms (or 280Hz). For BT you can actually be faster. DS4 updates at 500Hz or ~1.5 ms (compare this to that crap 8bitdo makes that have 33 ms). Why do that? The polling rate adds to your setup input lag. Games that requires dextery will turn impossible to play with high input delay times. This way you will have an actual number to inform your audience what is actually good besides the build quality of the controller. As reference, the too high threshhold is 10ms.
