As long as the render distance quality isnt painfully bad im not really upset & im hoping for some backwards compatibility. Yes on the face of it just stating it has decade only graphics sounds bad but the triangle examples was a great way to explain it. The main point to me is essentially its a PS4 version of a Gameboy and thats just crazy cool. Im sure these newer systems come with more upgrades than just graphic quality but i dont think its going to be horrible.
I hope this video gaming semi-singularity leads to 10+ year generations for new consoles. No need to rush out a new system in six years if it’s going to be a minor iteration.
ps4 ended off with visuals like Horizon forbidden west and TLOU2, whether u liked or hated those games, you cant deny they look amazing! it goes to show devs who really take the time to optimize their game on the system will get the most use out of it!
8:34 we are reaching a point, with games that nearly real life or already looking like real life, for future console generations, you need to have a very good hawk eyes(in term of details), to notice something that previous console generations could do, so in a way, small details such as better lighting/characters models, not someting huge like the jump to 2D to 3D or SD to HD games
ps4 level power is just the base raw power when undocked; the advanced dlss (3.5) should greatly upscale it even further, esp once we dock the system, because i don't believe it will exceed ps4 power when undocked and performance might be a little lower than ps4 in comparison.
maybe it can have a dock that is bigger than the system itself and also really powerful so that when the system is docked, perhaps the help and power of the dock can boost it up close to ps5 level specs. it is understanding though that it will be far less powerful when in portable mode though.
According to the Necro Filipe leak it's 1.7-2tf which is exactly the same as the base PS4 when undocked. In reality it will perform a lot better, I think. It's more efficient, has a far better CPU, has DLSS upscaling which should let it run games natively at 720p and upscale to 1080p natively. It's going to be pretty impressive when you see it running.
To drive the point home even further.... Many younger people may not have ever owned a PS4 or XB1. Now, with the possibility of many of those games being ported to the Switch 2, it's actually possible that, not only will those players be getting the COMPLETE game with all the DLC included, but if we really do have DLSS, then we may also have versions that are visually BETTER than their PS4 and XB1 counterparts, especially if the rumors about ray-tracing are true (which I'm still somewhat skeptical of). So yeah, a PS4-like version of Elden Ring, but upscaled to 4k with DLSS, and potentially running at 60 FPS with no hit to performance when docked? If all the rumors around the T239 chip, and Necro Filipe's speculations are true, then that may very well become a reality for the Switch 2, and that has me very excited, personally! Of course, I know I need to keep my expectations tempered until Nintendo actually shows us this thing.
Well... PS4 power running games at 720p optimized by the Nintendo engineers doing their black magic... that is probably gonna be amazing for a gaming handheld. Bayonetta 3 was freakin fantastic in terms of graphics, it looked more than stunning on my Switch OLED. If they do that black magic with the power of a PS4, I bet is gonna be great
one thing peoplle seem to not understand is its not only about graphics. during the same generation (e.g. ps4 vs ps4 pro), the devices will use the same CPUs, because the CPU workload didnt increase, but they'll have increased GPU power to push the frame rates or resolutions higher, which was the case of the ps4 pro. But a lot of games on the ps4 was actually bounded by the low CPU performance of the PS4, and PS5 was an alleviation to that. It has better single core performance AND more cores to perform CPU tasks, which allows for better physics, higher crowd/enemy density, smarter AI, bigger simulation games, etc. I do agree graphically, games have reached such a high standard that I dont really care about games looking more beautiful anymore. On the PS5 i just turn on performance mode because higher frame rate just feels better.
When you enable DLSS or FSR, the internal resolution is lowered and upscaled. This, in theory, increases FPS, but this load is moved to the CPU because the GPU doesn't have to work as hard to pump more pixels, the CPU needs to work harder to render those FPS the GPU asks, the result being more CPU usage.
There is no extra load moved to the cpu. The gpu is doing less work and finishing faster, which means the cpu just simply needs to send out instructions for the next frame faster. If the gpu is sped up to the point it exceeds the capability of the cpu to send out frames faster, ie the cpu is no longer wastefully idling waiting for the gpu to finish, you will no longer benefit from dlss/fsr. When this happens the gpu is now idling waiting on the cpu, and its time for frame gen to step in.
11:56 just to imagine Mario on Super Mario Odyssey, have around 30.000 polygons and most Switch first party software, have around 20.000 to 40.000 polygons, made me imagine how amazing the next Legend of Zelda, 3D Mario, Luigi Mansion and others could look on Nintendo next console
Nintendo has already proven they don't need need to be on par graphically to make a system that supports stunningly gorgeous environments. Gen 2 Hybrid that is powerful but not BADASS is nice for the price point. And access to Nintendo IPs is always a good thing.
The graphics are more about the budget and time spent on detail. Plus actually using realistic graphics. Really only Zelda, Xenoblade, Metroid and Bayonetta are going to truly benefit from those style of graphics.
Considering the size of the display from the switch it will be very nice to have the performance of a ps4 hence it was made for 1080p and everything above is not really noticable on such a small display and about the difference between ps4 and and ps5 it is a big difference but only if you have a 4k monitor/tv. PS: The comparison between the PS4 and PS5 was kinda confusing since it was x100 and not x100, but besides, very good video ♥️
Basically when the visual acuity is maxed to where it wont make a difference any more, we will start to see massive games with hardly any load times and tremendous amounts of details+effects due to the sheer amount of computing power that will be at the developers disposal without having to worry about visuals anymore.
7:28 Say what you will, but games used to have more charm, back when graphical limitations forced devs to implement more interesting art direction than your run of the mill hyper realism. And the controls might not have been perfect, but often times, games used to be more unique and varied.
Some people really think that this is an issue? If they make it where it can be a bit closer to the PS4 pro, than a lot of games that still hold up even in this current gen of games can still be playable. To give an example, FUCKING ELDEN RING. Game of the year 2 years ago, can still run fine with the base PS4 with some minor tweaks. That's some massive developments in my eyes.
I have an ROG Ally, it has 8.6 teraflops, steamdeck has 1.6 tflops. I do feel yes we could have a ps5 switch 3 but its expensive, and problem is NVIDA and the partnership as tegra is so underdeveloped against the Zen architecture. Im happy with what we will get but honestly nintendo always tries to be the afordable one so i feel it will be priced 450-500. ADITIONALLY, NVIDIA has the dlss3, its not about running power but the tech to make it beautiful. i feel ps5 and xbso have the issue of making heavy games for the sake of 4k to 8k. The new chip will hopefully have dlss 3 as well as asortment of implementations to save on battery and performance. cant wait to see how it comes
Yup ROG Ally is nice but it's also like $600 I'm pretty sure. So for the $400 sweet spot the Switch 2 should be a good balance and the DLSS tech will be helping it a lot

@@Liquid_Paper thing is that they easily can downgrade games for s1. I do feel that nintendo will give switch 2 years tops with year 3 only for third parties. The focus would be moving everyone to S2.

Serious doubt on those specs, even Nvidia's own spec sheets would put the handheld mode above 10w, so either Nintendo spends a lot more on the battery or the device has a 1 hour battery life, I don't think Nintendo can get away with sacrificing that much battery life. Nintendo has a long history of doing a lot more with a lot less, for their own needs something less powerful than a PS4 while docked is more than enough for them, because even at that spec it will still punch well above the PS4 and won't have the same bottlenecks that the PS4 had, namely it's CPU and HDD.
Not really because Nintendo makes way better games. Sony and Microsoft rely on that power to make their mediocre games seem better than what they are, but Nintendo will simply use this power to make their games even bigger and better than they already were.
I wasn't much of. mobile-Switch person; Mine basically lived in its dock. For anyone wanting PS5 levels of performance wouldn't make for a comfortable portable. The size/weight would be too much and wouldn't have much of a battery life (assuming Nintendos next console is _also_ portable)
People also forget Nintendo is very good at making games for their hardware and always has been and I'm happy what they did with the switch so switch 2 is gonna be awesome
At this point PS4 has been around for more than a decade. If the Switch is more powerful than PS3 which is a decade older, then it is possible for Switch 2 to match PS4 power. Steam Deck can play many games from PS4 era at 720p/30fps. I hope Switch 2 would have better battery life than PC handhelds.
Same people complaining about the ps4/Xbox one power in the system are the same people who would complain if Nintendo released a modern chipset with a $899 price tag… 😂
Im cool with this IF Nintendo also releases a dock that would bring the games up to PS5 level. This is important for 3rd parties are already starting to abandon PS4
The image you used to show the differences in graphics from console to console was spot on. Everyone keeps acting like the NS2 having PS4 power is bad when in reality it's hard to justify being much more that that. It's a fact that PS4 never utilized it's true power and neither does PS5. All that extra power doesn't mean anything if you don't have software to actually take advantage of it.
9:13 imagine the next 3D Mario looking like the Ratchet e Clank 2016 remake/Rift it Apart, even Metroid Prime Remastered and Luigi Mansion 3 look like early PS4 games
what I got form the video is that its going to be about ps4 pro power so the average switch game will look better than the average ps4 game . With maybe Zelda or Metroid Standing next to ps5 games because of the diminishing returns of the increased pixels.
I’ve been saying that. A lot of the games that came out later in the year on Xbox one and ps4 are already really good graphics. Some games on next gen really aren’t that much better it’s more frame rate performance that is a lot better. With the switch it’s already good that with a hybrid system they are able to achieve what they achieved. Going into the switch 2 I can’t wait to see what they bring
I get you, but now in march the onexplayer X1 is coming out and that thing is going to be a beast an 11inch OLED display with 2k resolution and 120 refresh rate screen. And the rog ally and the legion and steam deck still will be better than the next switch. I believe this will be for fan base only not because they are competing.
Weve definitely hit the point of diminishing returns i mean were at the point of uncanny valley in many games that go for realistic graphics theres only so much u can do at that point its small upgrades that eat alot of power! Anyone truly been wowed yet this gen? I know i haven't seen anything that i wouldn't believe was running on PS4, with Nintendo specs seem to matter less to me as they use stylised graphics mostly that dont require insane horsepower and their 1st party titles are usually pure fun! When ur running around backflipping and triple jumping on goombas heads in a gorgeous bright vibrant world thats technically amazing with awesome music playing u forget specs and just smile! Well i do 😅 but in regards to specs remember when we hear PS4 type power for Switch 2 remember it will be significantly newer architecture with tools not in PS4, im sure the CPU will be better and have faster storage than HDDs so a PS4 with better CPU and faster storage sounds good to me! Docked the system should have access to more power aswell, just think if u enjoyed Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild etc imagine what Nintendo will be able to do with Switch 2! Dont stress about power to much basically.
We have now reached a point where graphical fidelity is being advanced via lighting engines, but even with ray tracing it's doubtful that will make much of a difference. Honestly, game developers have got so good at mimicking light, ray tracing is useless in most applications, especially in games where lighting is made to enhance the art style over realism, which makes the game look and play much better than if ray tracing was on. With the diminished return over polygon count and ray tracing being mostly useless, the Switch 2 being on par with the PS4 should be more than enough, especially with DLSS at play.
The switch two will not have the performance of the ps4. People need to stop saying that. It will have similar 'power levels' but its capabilities and performance should be far greater. Performance =/ Power
XCX was already looked impressive on Wii U I can't imagine how it would look on switch 2 if they would put similar effort as they did with original xenoblade on switch
It just goes to show you that people will complain about everything. For the past three years I've been saying that there's no game out there the PS4 could not run. Maybe at a lower fidelity, but PS4 (especially the Pro) can run just about any game. Having that kind od power (with newer tech, mind you) in a portable system is going to be awesome.
We have technology today. You can squeeze at least 8 phones PC boards in the size of a switch, with that many times the potential and there is no excuse about technology. We have technology at blazing speed with new chips constantly and their schematics done as soon as they're created, which means very little work for Nintendo to make a powerful system. So it's an excuse for anybody to say that Nintendo cannot do better. They can do a lot better
Back in the day nintendo tried to compete with the graphics of the play station and xbox at the time withe the game cube and it didn’t sell, so can you blame them for not increasing their graphics?
Thanks for making a video like this. If this ends up being the spec (ps4/pro) with some ray tracing, that would be awesome to have in a Nintendo handheld.

As long as I can get a Pokemon game that actually runs higher than 15 fps, I'll be happy.
Thats what I was saying, the switch having the power of the ps4 is amazing. Thats means no more 30fps cap, 1080p and more titles.
The ps4 did have a lot of 30fps games tbh. But Nintendo could do a lot with that power
PS4 power with the alleged up scaling this should be a beast.
100%
I hope this video gaming semi-singularity leads to 10+ year generations for new consoles. No need to rush out a new system in six years if it’s going to be a minor iteration.
ps4 ended off with visuals like Horizon forbidden west and TLOU2, whether u liked or hated those games, you cant deny they look amazing! it goes to show devs who really take the time to optimize their game on the system will get the most use out of it!
Ps4 level graphics on a handheld is alot more than what i thought it was possible for the switch 2
New Nintendo Switch successor is definitely going to be called the “Sweeeeitch” 🤣
Or Nintendo Changement
ps4 level power is just the base raw power when undocked; the advanced dlss (3.5) should greatly upscale it even further, esp once we dock the system, because i don't believe it will exceed ps4 power when undocked and performance might be a little lower than ps4 in comparison.
Probably yeah
maybe it can have a dock that is bigger than the system itself and also really powerful so that when the system is docked, perhaps the help and power of the dock can boost it up close to ps5 level specs. it is understanding though that it will be far less powerful when in portable mode though.
As long as Pokemon games can run without all the glitch chaos I’ll be happy
This! 👍🏻
It's both a win for game developers (no need to make new games) and players who weren't able to get PS4 during its era.
really like the video! love the part where you break down the triangle graphics👌🏽
Thank you so much!
Sounds good, I don't see much a difference in graphics from last gen to new gen, i guess the gaming industry has reached the graphics peak.
Well... PS4 power running games at 720p optimized by the Nintendo engineers doing their black magic... that is probably gonna be amazing for a gaming handheld. Bayonetta 3 was freakin fantastic in terms of graphics, it looked more than stunning on my Switch OLED. If they do that black magic with the power of a PS4, I bet is gonna be great
No RTX, 720p...
one thing peoplle seem to not understand is its not only about graphics. during the same generation (e.g. ps4 vs ps4 pro), the devices will use the same CPUs, because the CPU workload didnt increase, but they'll have increased GPU power to push the frame rates or resolutions higher, which was the case of the ps4 pro.
Yes , i Hope Pokémon games could look ok tiers now 😅
Shut up kid, no one gives a shit about polygons. No one plays nintendo games for the graphics.
thank you! you said it perfectly and I just wanna see the console already
Nintendo has already proven they don't need need to be on par graphically to make a system that supports stunningly gorgeous environments. Gen 2 Hybrid that is powerful but not BADASS is nice for the price point. And access to Nintendo IPs is always a good thing.
I just want PS4 power on my Switch 2 likes Deck but around 3-4 hours AAA gameplay unlike 1 hour in Deck ❤❤❤
The graphics are more about the budget and time spent on detail. Plus actually using realistic graphics. Really only Zelda, Xenoblade, Metroid and Bayonetta are going to truly benefit from those style of graphics.
Whaaat, a nintendo console having lower specs than other consoles around it's time? WHO WOULD'VE EVER IMAGINED?! :O
Agreed
The Switch successor having PS4 power while being handheld will be epic!
Most companies don't even make games with PS5 power in mind.
Ya I wish Sony and Microsoft would slow down on the next console always and focus on building up a great library for PS5 and series x

Thing is.. Switch v1 v2 oled still exists & theyre not gonna overpower NS2 coz theres no way theyll leave the old consolew behind bec its a really big no HUGE market to them. 😂
@@Liquid_Paper thing is that they easily can downgrade games for s1. I do feel that nintendo will give switch 2 years tops with year 3 only for third parties. The focus would be moving everyone to S2.
@@ActualAero best example is XB3 which had ai upscaling tech. That was a 540p upscale which is one of the most beautiful switch games. Imagine visuals on s2 having trice the power. Native ps4 graphics but upscaled, that will be inpressive + raytracing? Switch 2 will be safe with a great library including ps4 and 5 era games(i mean medium ps5 era graphics upscaled.)
8.6 ally tfps are just marketing, that thing barely performs better than a steam deck
10 x 60,000 is 600,000. Not 6,000,000…
Serious doubt on those specs, even Nvidia's own spec sheets would put the handheld mode above 10w, so either Nintendo spends a lot more on the battery or the device has a 1 hour battery life, I don't think Nintendo can get away with sacrificing that much battery life. Nintendo has a long history of doing a lot more with a lot less, for their own needs something less powerful than a PS4 while docked is more than enough for them, because even at that spec it will still punch well above the PS4 and won't have the same bottlenecks that the PS4 had, namely it's CPU and HDD.
@ActualAero
Do you know if the system will allow old physical cartridges? Also, what do you think about mmo's or online cross play across platforms?
This will be peak Nintendo gen. And downhill in the 2030’s cause they’ll just be like everyone else then.
Not really because Nintendo makes way better games.
Sony and Microsoft rely on that power to make their mediocre games seem better than what they are, but Nintendo will simply use this power to make their games even bigger and better than they already were.
I love both my PS5 and my Switch.
I like Nintendo because they're not worried about super-realistic graphics.
It's all good. Furthermore, I want to see how ACE COMBAT 7 looks like on Nintendo Switch 2!
Look at the games and ports for the switch people didn't complain about switch being last Gen
For me I want this new switch to be able to run FFVIIR, KH and RE,2,3,4 and village
8:29 it's a 100X jump from 60k to 6mln by the way... not a 10X:
People also forget Nintendo is very good at making games for their hardware and always has been and I'm happy what they did with the switch so switch 2 is gonna be awesome
It needs PS4 Pro levels of power tbh. That would make it match up to the Steam Deck.
I would want ps4 pro quality. Same form factor. Detachable controllers is a must due to kids breaking them controllers.
I have a switch and I Lowkey play it more than my P5 just because I like the Nintendo exclusive a little more.
I really don't see much of a difference between PS4 and PS5. Most devs will never 100 percent tap into PS5s raw power.
Sounds like u need a new tv son
I’ll take PS4-power stylish graphics over PS5-power “muh realism” any day of the week.
I’m hyped for the next Nintendo console.
Uh.. both PS4 and PS5 is capable of realistic graphics. You should have just said you prefer stylish graphics over realistic ones.
@@XenoMassxxI probably should have lmao you right
I would guess it’s ps4 power handheld without DLSS which is f*cking amazing.
A small handheld with ps4 specs is very good.
Good explanation👍
Only the OG understands playing a console.
If this is true imagine the graphics of Xenoblade Chronicles X if both leaks are real. 😮.
It's gonna look so good!
I really don't care as long as it's more powerful docked then I'll be satisfied
So we can finally fantasize about that 7th game in certain series in a handheld device.
Developers also get lazy when porting to Nintendo, so expect Switch 2 3rd party games to have a lower frame rate.
11:42 WOW that a lot, just for a single character
Wow, great video. Good job except for the math but good job.
Just subscribed. Interesting thoughts.
🎉the best way to put it is better than Series S performance in docked n ps4 level in handheld
didnt nintendo say that the switch 2 wasnt in development?. like multiple times?
Thanks for making a video like this. If this ends up being the spec (ps4/pro) with some ray tracing, that would be awesome to have in a Nintendo handheld.
Even the ROG Ally actually needs to be plugged in to play any triple a titles over an hour.
in india below 400$ phone can even play gta v on emulator and genshin impact on highest is easily playable
IMO, the polygon argument is a little weak. Graphical upgrades arn't completely linear.
In Channel next door source said Nintendo switch 2 performance just close by with Sony playstation 4🙏
Nice video. Thanks 🙏
A switch that has the power of PS4 sounds like a good thing and not a bad thing in my opinion. I actually wonder if the switch 2 is going to be backwards compatible with switch games.
Just wait, there's gonna be 25 more Switch 2 "leaks" with totally different specs listed before Nintendo's official reveal.
I'm down, more content to talk about
@@ActualAero Sorry, I came off as a dick. I think these videos are fun.

Yeah they said it have same power as Xbox One X & PS4 Pro if not a better. spec should look nice!
It sucks because this means that, we are still going to have a slow asz loading time to get in the game... well its going to feel like we still have an original switch..
