Any driver who thinks theyre not responsible for their vehicle and should show care around vulnerable road users eg cyclists, pedestrians, horse riders etc shouldnt be allowed to drive.
Everyone should be careful, but how is it the motorist's fault if a cyclist all in black and no lights pulls out on them? If you're driving safely, that's should be that.
A ridiculously loaded and one-sided 'debate'. Cyclists on pavenments: just count how many motorists park on pavements. Delivery drivers -ditto white van drivers. Red lights -just stand at any set of lights in the country and watch motorists tailgating each other to get through the red light. EVERY point the taxi driver tries to make to demonise cyclists can be countered with an example of infinitely more dangerous practices by motorists that motorists seem to be blind to.

Make motorists pay to be on the road, too. I know what you're getting at, but you're just ignorant. As someone who commutes to central London everyday, there are at least 10 instances of cyclists jumping red lights every day that i see. Saying it's the 1% is wrong.
Stand at any set of traffic lights in the rest of the country and watch just how many motorists go through red lights, tailgating the car in front just because they don't want to wait. As a pedestrian it means that I'm often unable to cross a road in the time between red and green lights because there's a constant stream of traffic.
