    I passed first time with 6 minors. I paniced and thought i failed. The examiner made me do emergency stop and 3 parkings. He took me on hills, small roads, T junctions, dual carriageway and some forest roads. He also took me on a 50mph roads and alot of roundabouts. I watched your videos alot during lock down over and over again i made a huge note book and made notes it helped me prepare for my test. Thank you for making simple, quick and very useful vidoes you cover every incy bincy topics which is greatly appreciated 🙂

    I am on my 4th day driving in the UK coming from Canada. I could not have driven in the UK without Advance Driving videos. I just finished watching your “How to Judge Road Position” which couldn’t have come at a better time. I am getting more comfortable with roundabouts but I’ve hit a few left curbs with my rental. My worst experience was with a bus who had to move to the centre to get past park cars. I know the bus should stop for me because he is in my lane but we know who would win if I hit a bus. So the curb got a good hit. BUT the driving is getting better as we move onto Stratford upon Avon from Cheltenham.

    To be honest drivers can just look at the side mirrors to see whether they are centered on the road. If they can see the the gap between line on the side of the car and the dotted line that shows how you are positioned.

      It ll be best if you make a video of driving in hilly roads,busy traffic with gradients etc with simultaneous coverage of left reference point(middle of dash board with driver head camera), decision making of crossing a narrow gap & other things of pre-planning on the road with Operating of all pedals,gear along with running commentry ......
      with a virtual driving experience ..

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool
      @AdvanceDrivingSchool  6 лет назад

      Thanks for the suggestion! It isn't very hilly where we live unfortunately, but we use the drivers eye view quite often in our videos so can see how it looks for us when driving. Of course you will need to find your own reference point, as it looks different for every type of car and size of driver. Have you seen our video 'No 1 tip for passing' as it covers how to forward plan?

      Try and do all the things that this video suggests; so find your own reference point, and look as far ahead as possible - but it always takes a little while until you get used to where you should be. Don't try to rush your learning, it will take as long as it takes!

    Very good video.
    One question: If your driving instructor has never mentioned reference points does it mean that (despite their apparent qualification) they are a dangerous, idiotic psycho who will badly damage the learner's confidence (while receiving generous payment for doing so) and create a vicious cycle of anxious learners with poor preparation and bad driving habits on the road; or is it an indication that they are satisfied with the learner's innate sense of positioning? It can be so hard to tell these days.

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool
      @AdvanceDrivingSchool  2 года назад +1

      We don’t always need to use a reference point, if the learner is able to judge something for themselves. What type of instructor you have though - who knows! 😉

    Sir/Madam, Why do we take car's center point reference to drive? Please explain

      It's just to help a new driver position the car isn the correct place. Once that is understood they can judge it for themselves.

    I have my driving test this Thursday and I'm so freaking nervous! 😢My mum keeps telling me not to worry but I can't help it, and don't want to let anyone down, which is even more pressure. I'd rather pass now before I start my second year of Uni because I know that I'll be so busy! Wish me luck that I pass guys or if you have any techniques on how to stay calm then that would be much appreciated too! lol 🙏🏼😭

      Firstly, don't worry about letting anyone down - it really isn't that big a deal if you don't pass. The test can be taken as many times as needed - although if you are a good driver then there is every chance that you will pass first time. We have a few videos that might interest you - have a look on our channel for the playlist called 'Driving Test tips and guides'. Good luck!

      Advance Driving School Thank you! Just had a look at it now and it's so helpful! :) I love your channel, the amount of work and effort that you guys put into it is pretty awesome so kudos to you guys for making it so much easier for me! I didn't know how to do roundabouts before but after watching your videos I'm able to do them now 😅I'm definitely going to run through all of your videos one last time before I take my test, just to cram in all that extra information! 😊

      xSaltyxDRIFTx Nope 😢Didn't pass because when I was meeting with traffic, I was supposed to stop and give way but instead I tried to cram my way in, which didn't go well with the examiner as he had to brake hard 🙊 I have my second test in a few weeks time though.

    Are there any reference points that are useful for those with cars that have their steering wheel on the left side of it? Because obviously, the left curb matching the center of the wipers isn't gonna work for us.

      Everything should be a mirror image for you - look for where the right kerb crosses the wipers on your car. 👍🏼
