As someone who had their licence 35 yrs since I was 17, I find your videos so interesting, even the basic ones. As driver's we never ever stop learning & we do as "experienced" (I use the term loosely) drivers tend to take things for granted & dare I say it.......... Cut corners with regard to our driving, your videos are so so informative & intuitive. Keep up the good work & great video content.
Hi,I don't have really enough words to describe about your work which you doing and did for your all videos! Such a great job and I learned a lot, million thanks 😊 🙏
I'm from Glasgow but grew up abroad. Last week I had my first driving test in the UK but I'm an experience driver and I've driven in many countries. The examiner said to me "when it is safe to do so please pull over", I found a safe spot, indicated and pulled over. After the test, when we got back to the test centre he said I Failed. I look at the report sheet and I got 1 minor fault and 1 major fault. The minor fault was for indicating late on a junction and the major fault happened because when I pulled over the little rascal kids driving a black BMW obviously their parents honked for me because I pulled off and the examiner said I caused them obstruction which I don't understand how I did. The UK system is a bit silly, because someone honks for you during a driving test means the examiner will fail the person even if it was not by your making. I find that appalling, stupid, lame and silly. I told the examiner to go get some brains because what happened there was just some kids being silly and I failed for their actions with just a minor fault. How stupid!!!
@@AdvanceDrivingSchool how can you say it sounds a little harsh? Better response would be some advice to the poster about how to conduct themslseves in a way that would elicit a more productive and fuller explanation from the examiner. You know Nothing of the exact circumstances, you have solely the account of the person involved which is hugely unlikely to be balanced. Clearly you've learned NOTHING about human psychology nor do you afford the examiner any respect for his judgement. Your lesson above is patronising, lacks relevant information and shows only your own lack of understanding and skill. Ps no I'm not going to elaborate further as that would serve only to educate you at my expense.
@ Guy Hud its a shame there wasn't some way you could have found out why the examiner judged the situation as he did, like, oooo I don't know ASKING HIM, instead of bitching about it. Stop being a victim.
@@chrisb8075 Pls learn to show some gratitude for receiving such efficient & free lessons- it is certainly helping improve so many peoples lives!! If u cant show gratitude, the least, pls donot criticise what you get for free coz u never paid for it!!!
Always enjoy your videos so informative and simple, the reference points are so important as it varies between cars, it seems a basic skill but still important one 👍
That is much more difficult because the car takes more distance to straighten out from that position. We did show this at the end of the video - the only advice is to drive extra slowly so you can steer more accurately. 👍🏼
For me the real problem in parking is the following. Say we try to park to the left. When we approach the curb, we need to steer two times: the first time, we steer to the left to approach the curb and the second we steer to the right as shown in 6:06. For me (correct me if I am wrong), we shall make a reference point not only for when the car is well parked but also for when we are about to turn to the right (6:06). The reason is that if we are late in steering to the right, we may hit the curb. Make sens ?
If you look carefully we actually steer 4 times! Towards the kerb, then straighten, then away from the kerb, then finally straighten! Having more than one reference point is impractical, and is only intended to help a new driver build their judgement. After 10 or 20 goes you’ll be able to judge it for yourself without using artificial reference points. 👍🏼
These videos are put together so well, keep it up! I’ve got my first ever driving test in 2 days so the nerves are kicking in now but whatever happens on the day happens - I’m just hoping I don’t make any mistakes under pressure😂

We have made a video about braking in general (have a look in the basic skills playlist at our channel) and would suggest 10-15mph is the best speed for most speed humps. 👍🏼
Thank you for quick response... My doubt is about reference point that you have mentioned in the video... that always varied while drive a different models like SUV,avalanche,Hatchback type. So Do you have any standard solution for this? How can I park precisely near to curb while drive various types of cars?
You need to make your own reference point, to suit your car and driving position. Just carefully park near the kerb, and see how it lines up with your wipers / dashboard. Then copy that next time you park 👍🏼
Hi Can you make an video or give me basic tips on how to start basic driving tip, like clutch control. I have been taking lessons but they haven’t explained clear how to drive. How to control the car, like clutch control , when you brake.
Hi! We have a whole playlist on how to control a manual car - but this is a good place to start: How To Drive A Manual Car (Step-by-step) | Learn to drive: Car control skills ruclips.net/video/rKqdFlzILZc/видео.html 👍🏼
what if the examiner makes you pull over onto the road markings that you know your not meant to park on? when they say "pull up at a safe space" etc or when you think it isnt safe because you know the markings are not meant to be parked on? Do you just park on them anyway as there is no other choice?? eg double yellow or the school parking markings
The examiner won’t try to trick us - there will always be somewhere safe to stop. We need to demonstrate our knowledge of the Highway Code when we stop by finding somewhere safe and legal. Don’t feel that you need to stop immediately - take a moment to choose somewhere suitable.
The price of lessons varies a lot, depending on the balance of supply and demand just like anything else. You must decide how much you are prepared to pay - but just remember that ‘you get what you pay for’ of course! Our country has many small and busy roads so the driving test must be difficult enough to ensure drivers are trained to a sufficient standard to be safe. 👍🏼
Hey Ann! For my test do I need to secure the car every time the examiner asks me to pull over on the left? BTY I'm driving an automatic car. Thanks for this great video.
The Highway Code says we can stop on a double-yellow line, but we can't park the car. When parking, we should keep at least 10 metres away from any junctions so we don't obstruct other vehicles.
How to figure out the distance between the rear of our cars and an object or kerb or other car parked behind us during parallel parking?? I didnt find any reference of the same in all your videos
We can't give any reference point as all cars are different. When we are reversing we use our mirrors, as well as looking through the rear window directly - and try to keep at least a metre from anything behind us in case of any misjudgments!
@@AdvanceDrivingSchool its difficult to figure out as the top rear view mirror and the side rear view mirrors show different distance. Also whenever i park in front of a car in parallel parking i usually park far away but sitting in the car it seems i have gone to close
I get the idea of reference points as an easy and learner-friendly approximation, but I still think that there is no better way of knowing your exact distance from the curb, as well being able to get as close as possible without touching it in a 100% controlled manner, than using the wing mirror on that side.
@@AdvanceDrivingSchool Thank you for replying to my comment. With respect, I am still not convinced, as reference points don't work at angle either. And while reference points are heavily dependent on position of the eyes the exact same way as when taken, what you see in the mirror has no such dependencies.
