Nice to see your face! I love the double page spread of landscapes with wildflowers underneath. I was happy to recognize all of them. Your pepper sketch really grabbed my attention. Very lovely sketchbook. Would you ever consider teaching how you make your sketchbook? Thanks for sharing.

Thank you! It's been a while, but I have done a short video about how I make sketchbooks and even a slightly longer class showing different techniques, here you go:

Oh what a delight your sketchbook is. First off, it being handmade, secondly showing and describing each page. Like how you start your sketcbook off with warm up sketches. I'll have to adopt that methodas well, ty. Then, seeing your writing in the sketchbook as well, and in German too. The things I enjoyed most are: Blue Jay feather is quite lovely; like how you title your mini paintings 'botanical portraits'; lol, that buffalo story with landscape will always remind you of them; the butterfly wings being so delicate are lovely; the architecture is interesting. I too like your composition pages of landscspes on top, florals at bottom. Deer are my fave, so I throughly enjoyed seeing those two portrayed on your pages. Lol, love how you call sparrows 'balls fluff and of stress'. Lastly, that tomatoe looks to be of an heirloom variety. Your garden looks to have grown well. Beautiful work, enjoyable sketchbook, thank you again.

Thank you so much, dear Roksanna for all your lovely feedback!! I have to say I'm having a much better time with starting a sketching session since I do these little warm-up sketches. Definitely give it a try!

Thanks for sharing your sketchbook and tips! I liked everything and would love to learn landscapes from you once you are ready to teach them. The botanical portraits are really lovely vignettes, although I also like the standalone flowers, too.

Always inspiring to get a look in your sketchbook! 😊 I agree that double spread with the landscapes up top and flowers beneath had a great composition. I'm itching to go outdoors again but it's been quite rainy and windy here the past few weeks (winter in Australia). Hopefully soon I can spend all day and try some beautiful sketches like you!

Thank you Kim! Fingers crossed for better weather then - here the autumnal rain is starting, so that's similar. I hope you can enjoy a wonderful sketching season outside!

Another wonderful sketchbook, Julia! I particularly like the "wildflower portraits" showing a little more of the environment the plant is growing in. Looking forward to the wildflower class! I know you make your own sketchbooks, but would love to know what paper you are using in this one. I love how your colors come out. Thanks!

Thank you so much Dory! I used Saunders Waterford Hot-pressed 190gsm - it's one of my favorite papers to use, but unfortunately also insanely expensive. But I find it's worth it when a paper just works.

really like the last page of veggies, something different from the main plants 😀
i caught the plague, so was out of commission for a month. did manage to get a few art pieces done tho, but not enough sketchbook work

Yes, the veggies have more looseness I think. Take good care of yourself!
