Beautiful work. Thank you so much for sharing your illustrations and thoughs. You make me want ro restart my daily drawing challenge. I mainly draw birds, mostly from pictures and imagination. 😊
Lovely sketchbook Julia. I really loved your polar bear and the reed pen works. Hope you will do a video on how to make the pen and how you draw using it
Your sketchbook is beautiful. I like the way you are sketching objects and scenes from your travels. I’d love to know how to make the bamboo pen. I have used a stick from the garden and sharpened it, then dipped it in Indian ink. I couldn’t get a very precise line with it but you just have to go with it. Definitely fun to experiment with. We have Great Big Green Week here in England. I’m journaling in our local nature reserve where there’s an event taking place tomorrow. I’m hoping to attract more people into nature journaling. 😊 Thank you for your sketchbook tour, it’s inspirational.
Thank you Pauline! Your stick probably needs a kind of feed so the ink will flow more evenly. You can experiment with splitting the tip in two and making a small hole at the end, then it works more like a nib. It's hard to explain. The bamboo pen video will come. :-) I hope you've met many lovely people to introduce them to nature journaling!
@@NatureSketchbook thanks for your reply. I had a wonderful day and met many lovely people, but it was the children who were really interested in the nature journaling! I really think it should be taught in schools.
@@paulineshelley4421 I've heard from quite a few nature journalers in the US who teach nature journaling in schools - I think it would be a great addition, it makes nature and science so approachable and fun. I know I would have loved something like this as a kid.
Thank you for sharing Julia. Interesting and developing beautifully.
Thank you John!
Your subjects, your style & your palette really resonate with me. I've been more explorative since I discovered your work.
Yay, that sounds awesome, this is the best kind of feedback!
I love your journal work. The flowers are beautiful (as always) but I do really like your landscapes too! ❤
Thank you Margret!
Thanks Julia that was great! I love your floral work but the landscapes are beautiful too. Would be great to see more of the park 😊
Thank you! Yes that park is one my list of places I want to go for sketching to more often. :-)
lovely sketchbook merci beaucoup !
Thank you!
Beautiful work, but my favorite was the one you painted with handmade bamboo pen. That was very unique and beautiful 🤩
Thank you!

Thank you Paulina! Daily drawing is great for practice. :-)
absolutely beautiful sketchbook
Thank you!
Wonderful Julia. It would be interesting to see you create your pen from bamboo and then to show us how you use it. Thank you. Beautiful work.
Yay, I'll show it when I get around to filming it! I think I'll have to shorten one of the bamboo stick for my tomatoes for this. ;-)
Gorgeous work, Juiia! The botanicals are amazing. I have some used bamboo stakes in the shed and would love to learn how to transform one into a pen!
Thank you Jenneke. :-) The bamboo pen will come, I just have to remove one of the sticks from my tomatoes!

Yes, the reed pen video will come! :-)
Love your sketches. Very nice. I would like to make a sketch book similar to yours.
I have yellow lady’s slippers blooming right now in the woods where I live🥰
That's amazing! 🌼

Such beautiful paintings. What paper do you use? 🌸
