Sketching spring flowers | ink + watercolor

  • Every spring, I'm waiting for the days finally getting brighter and warmer, and for the first small flowers to come out. I show how I very quickly sketch a yellow forsythia with colored inks and watercolor, a combination I've come to enjoy a lot for botanical sketching.

    Thanks for sharing your process! We have forsythia here in the eastern US too…usually in landscapes. They are some of the earliest bloomers (for shrubs) here and a welcome sign of spring!! Thanks again 😊!

    You draw so beautifully! Tiny flowers are so difficult for me. And these are gorgeous. I didn't knew fountain pens had so much variety of colors. ❤

    So delicate, love watching you paint. What waterproof yellow ink do you use please?

      It's the Rohrer & Klingner SketchInk, I think the color is called Carmen. They only have one yellow. ;-)
