    I love watercolor, however I don’t know what I’m doing when I’m watercoloring. 😂
What I’d love to see is the water cups being used. Like when do I dip my brush into the water. How Are the two cups of water used? Or am I using one cup to throughout my session then cleaning the brushes with the other when I’m done? How much water do I leave on the brush, how much paint do I leave in the brush. So many questions.
I’ve rarely seen any watercolor RUclipsr with the water in full view when taping. I’d love to see that in a tutorial.
Much admiration for your craft. It is amazing.

My mom posted on Facebook the little watercolor flower card I made for her on Mother's Day and one of her friends wanted to commission some similar paintings from me. However, I'm a student artist with more of a focus in printmaking and have literally no training in watercolors - that card was just a quick thing for my mom that no one was supposed to see. Since I'm a student artist who always needs more money, I didn't want to turn the commission down, so all day I've been watching countless videos on watercolor basics so I can make something of quality for this woman. So far, your video has absolutely been the most thorough and comprehensive - thanks so much, and wish me luck!

  • @paisleyrosestuff

Super helpful, and I appreciate that you didn't just bash the "don't" flowers, because they still look cute and have that "naïve art" style that I actually really enjoy and definitely has a place, so if that's what someone is going for it's totally okay! But also knowing the skills needed to get either result means you can choose exactly how you want it to look and make deliberate decisions, which is great. This actually gave me useful tips for both styles, because I wouldn't have thought to outline the petals first but the outlines before you filled them in looked really cool and abstract. So many options here, but knowing the "correct" skills to control the watercolour is very helpful and I'll definitely be referring back to this. Thank you for this useful advice presented in a non-judgmental way!

Hullo Shayda, so many sweet little tips n tricks for beginners and those who have not painted flowers in a while and reminding them of a simple tip like turning your paper! I like that I have seen the "Flower Color Guide" in a few videos over the last month or so! Lindsay Weirich uses it too! Mine is much older and a bit ragged at the edges but the pictures are still lovely and so good for reference. Getting color and basic anatomy of the flower is what it is best for and composing your own painting and not getting hung up on someones else's photo or flower composition. Thanks for keeping it light and easy. I like your perfectly imperfect mantra! Just keep doing what you do! SO close to the 1Mil sub mark ! Woo Hoo!

I have some water colour pellets(they are cheaper than tubes) and some very cheap watercolor pencils. I can't wait to try this out! Thank you! :):) (I think I'll try those precise lines with the pencils! 😬😁) (I'm going to try it out on an A4 sheet, i don't have any watercolor paper... Excellent tutorial. Watercolors aren't drawing: they lend themselves more to expressionism, which, for me, anyway, is capturing what the world looks like when I take off my glasses (I'm very nearsighted). I think beginners can get a bit confused about time. Watercolors aren't oil paint or acrylic, it's so fast, just add water and dab some paint and voila, done. Except you have to let it dry a little or a lot and come back for that layering and those details that make watercolor so distinctive.
