the not to do looks exactly like what I tend to do. NO patience!!! Will definitely follow your way!
Haha. You took the words out of my mouth. My work as a copy now on RUclips. Thanx Shayda, really needed the advise today. Feeling like painting during loadshedding here in South Africa🌺
Oh is super helpful this video Shayda!! I´m 13 years old and I have been watching your videos for 1 year, and they are amazing!! And you are a great teacher... The last 2 moths I didnt want to continue paiting flowers because I couldnt!!! But woah with this video I have the attitude to continue and start again!!! Thanks Shayda!!!! 🖌👌🏻
I'm so glad you will start again!
Wow I’m 13 as well I didn’t think to many people our age like watercolours!
@@ShaydaCampbell hehehheh, thanks Shayda!! And thanks you too for be our inspiration!!
@@natfaz52122 Oh, a big surprise! Yeah, watercolors are one of the most beautiful things that I love to do!! 😉🙃
@@elizabethcruz8428 same! I like the finish of colour pencils but I’m better at watercolour as well as they provide beautiful results!
I love watercolor, however I don’t know what I’m doing when I’m watercoloring. 😂
What I’d love to see is the water cups being used. Like when do I dip my brush into the water. How Are the two cups of water used? Or am I using one cup to throughout my session then cleaning the brushes with the other when I’m done? How much water do I leave on the brush, how much paint do I leave in the brush. So many questions.
I’ve rarely seen any watercolor RUclipsr with the water in full view when taping. I’d love to see that in a tutorial.
Much admiration for your craft. It is amazing.
🎃
Huge difference in the two -- proving that practice, patience and freedom to relax are the keys to a satisfying painting interpretation. 🙂
I so agree with the other viewers. So informational. Never have I gathered so many artful tips in one video. Thank you so much. You are the best instructor on RUclips. And by the way, you are so organized, makes watching of your videos a pleasure. Oh one more thing, love the conclusion, summarizing all the techniques. Thank you for the confidence and inspiration you instill.
Thank you so much, you are too kind!
Thank you Shayda, no one has ever just explained that before. So thank you. I knew I was.doing things wrong. I am completely new to watercolour, and I didn't know what exactly was the problem with what I was doing, or how to fix it. Your video has helped me hugely. Thank you again, this has been so helpful! God bless you and all those you love. Have a great.week!
100% what I was feeling! im really new to watercolor and I love flowers but they never look good when i try to paint them lol I've watched many videos but none have explained it as well esp in 1 video! this was so helpful! subscribed ☺
Hi Shayda, another amazing video. You've got such a beautiful style. But I noticed even when you try to make a painting look wrong it still turns out to be at least cute😊. Thank you for the beautiful tutorial. 🥰
Yes it still good in different style
😂 Thank you so much 😀
My mom posted on Facebook the little watercolor flower card I made for her on Mother's Day and one of her friends wanted to commission some similar paintings from me. However, I'm a student artist with more of a focus in printmaking and have literally no training in watercolors - that card was just a quick thing for my mom that no one was supposed to see. Since I'm a student artist who always needs more money, I didn't want to turn the commission down, so all day I've been watching countless videos on watercolor basics so I can make something of quality for this woman. So far, your video has absolutely been the most thorough and comprehensive - thanks so much, and wish me luck!
Thank you!! Good luck and have fun with it!
I just noticed the way you hold your brush 😮 Wild!!!
I’m just beginning with watercolors, I’m so glad I’ve found your channel, you have a lot high quality content, can’t wait to see it all! Tysm! 😊
Thank you so much 😀 Welcome to the channel
Amazing watercolour painting tutorial. I love your effortless painting style 🎨👍🏼 thank you for sharing

Yes I found this so helpful.. love your style…😊🍒
Thanks!
So helpful. Wish I had seen this when I was first starting out.
I really learned a lot from this painting. I have never had lessons and I follow several artists on youtube. Thank you
Great and helpful video, Shayda.
Thank you very, very much for all your inspirational videos❤
Hello 👋 how are you doing?
Always so encouraging. Thank you! 💜
This is a great tutorial. I always have a hard time with flowers and now I can see why! Question: I was taught to never mix white with other colors when painting with watercolor paint. You use it. Why do you prefer it? Thanks!
You are a great mentor and teacher at the same time you are very talented in art and keep me calm you also give very helpful tips for me and keep things at a cheap enough price for everyone.
Thank you so much 😀
So helpful having some things to do and some things not to do! Thanks Shayda!
Thank you for this informative tutorial. As always beautiful painting
Thank you! Cheers!
I love the second painting. Thankyou for this really helpful video.
thank you so much!! amazing tips!
I love this. So clear you have to build.
I’m in love with blue anemones and these are so cute
Thank you so much for sharing this, you are an amazing teacher!
I'm definitely going to try this soon! Honestly this video was very helpful because I kept making these mistakes as I'm more familiar with (digital) drawing than actual painting. I definitely need to learn to be more patient before trying to add details 😅
Thank you for this dos and donts video Shayda I found it very helpful. Love the way you di your flowers. Gorgeous. Much love and God bless Susan xxx 🤗🤗🤗❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💐👍🕊⭐
Such a great video, thank you.
Goodness, I have so much to learn - lol - my paintings look more like the first, watching you and listening to you has taught me so much! I couldn't figure out what I was doign wrong! Now I know!!
Super helpful, and I appreciate that you didn't just bash the "don't" flowers, because they still look cute and have that "naïve art" style that I actually really enjoy and definitely has a place, so if that's what someone is going for it's totally okay! But also knowing the skills needed to get either result means you can choose exactly how you want it to look and make deliberate decisions, which is great. This actually gave me useful tips for both styles, because I wouldn't have thought to outline the petals first but the outlines before you filled them in looked really cool and abstract. So many options here, but knowing the "correct" skills to control the watercolour is very helpful and I'll definitely be referring back to this. Thank you for this useful advice presented in a non-judgmental way!
Excellent, thanks so much!
Very very helpful!!
Wonderful tips. Thank you.
Thank you. Very helpful.
Thank you, Shayda.
Hullo Shayda, so many sweet little tips n tricks for beginners and those who have not painted flowers in a while and reminding them of a simple tip like turning your paper! I like that I have seen the "Flower Color Guide" in a few videos over the last month or so! Lindsay Weirich uses it too! Mine is much older and a bit ragged at the edges but the pictures are still lovely and so good for reference. Getting color and basic anatomy of the flower is what it is best for and composing your own painting and not getting hung up on someones else's photo or flower composition. Thanks for keeping it light and easy. I like your perfectly imperfect mantra! Just keep doing what you do! SO close to the 1Mil sub mark ! Woo Hoo!
Love this!
i absolutely love your vídeos!
Excellent xx
Thank you very much. It's not just a drawing tutorial, it's good advice for living

Eres una gran maestra. Ahora solo me falta practicar, practicar y practicar.
Excellent help for this newbie. I would love to see more 'comparison' type instructional paintings. Tfs
This is one of the most helpful watercolor tutorials I have ever seen! Thank you so very much.

Thank you for sharing
Great video..I've picked up some good tips!
Glad it was helpful!
Great tips!! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Your video is exactly what I have needed to get started. I needed the basics like seeing your paints and how you actually mix watercolors, how much water, how to pull the brush. Watercolors are a beast! 😂
Glad it was helpful!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Great explanation, I love how you showed both ways too rather than just explaining 👍🏻
Thanks :)
I could tell just from the thumbnail that the “don’t” version looks a LOT like my attempts at flowers, so it was so super helpful that you pinpointed what causes that look & how to improve it! Very helpful video, thank you ☺️
Thanks for watching!
Great tips for beginners
Thanks :)
Shayda, I've been appreciating your work for a good while now, about 2 years I'd say. I discovered you in the midst of quarantine at around 11 years old, I am so glad that I found this tutorial I've been trying to improve my work a lot since watercolour is not the easiest medium to manage. Your work is commendable you stopped my mistakes and helped me improve just in time for my school project! Much love
Wow, thank you!

Beautiful ❤
Thank you! 😊
This is really helpful! I’m just starting watercolor after watching your channel. Thanks for another great video 😊
Glad it was helpful!
I just discovered your channel! Thank you so much!! What not to do was so important for me ... I'm an absolute beginner and I am so bad at it, but when I see art on yt, always want to try it myself! I have some water colour pellets(they are cheaper than tubes) and some very cheap watercolor pencils. I can't wait to try this out! Thank you! :):) (I think I'll try those precise lines with the pencils! 😬😁) (I'm going to try it out on an A4 sheet, i don't have any watercolor paper... But, it's alright for a beginner 😇) (I have subscribed, ofc) Please post more of these ❤️❤️❤️
Welcome to the channel! Have fun painting :)
@@ShaydaCampbell 😇😇😇
Lo voy a intentar, pero no sé cómo me va a salir. Son preciosas. Gracias. Madrid. 😀
You can do it!
Hi. Loving 50 ways. When will another one be posted?
Very soon!
Excellent tutorial. Watercolors aren't drawing: they lend themselves more to expressionism, which, for me, anyway, is capturing what the world looks like when I take off my glasses (I'm very nearsighted). I think beginners can get a bit confused about time. Watercolors aren't oil paint or acrylic, it's so fast, just add water and dab some paint and voila, done. Except you have to let it dry a little or a lot and come back for that layering and those details that make watercolor so distinctive.
Yes! Thanks for sharing!
Great video Shayda! Really helpful tips! Thanks!
Do you recommend mungyo watercolor set for beginner? I really can't decide between this or mijello🙃
Yes, it is my favorite currently!
Hello from British Columbia Canada
🇨🇦👋👍♥️🌲🧘♀️🌲💥💥💥💥💥🥳💐
So perfectly explained, Ms. Shayda! I love your style.
Every one of alllllll the artists on RUclips never use white to lighten a color. So NOW, it's the opposite!!!!! Too funny!!!!!!
Thank you for the great instructions!!!❤️
Thanks!❤️
you're so sweet to say the first painting doesn't look 'bad.' I paint exactly like that and I just want to throw my paintings away 🤡
Love both paintings and all the tips!!! Thanks 👍🙏
wow, this was so helpful. I love the way you paint. Fun, beautiful and you make it look so effortless.
You are amazing, I love your watercolor paintings.
