every page looks incredible! some of your graphite value studies have such a magical and mysterious feeling, i really like them! i loved what you said about the abstract studies, and how important they are to help us understand/feel how colors and shapes work, it's definitely and exercise i should do more often.

Thank you! I feel like my graphite studies have improved a lot, I’m so glad you like them :) and yes, abstraction is hard but super important. Happy painting! ❤️

Twin Sisters Peaks!!!! When we went to Colorado a few years ago...I made sure to take my twin girls 11 year old portraits with the peaks in the background...you could see them from a beautiful pond park near a resort we were staying at. So cool to see you sketch that in particularly! Just discovered your channel recently. Love seeing your talent and following your journey.

PS Georgia O'Keefe, Alfred Stieglitz, an amazing photographer and her partner, as well as O'Keefe's sister, Ida, an amazing artist in her own right are all very interesting artists! The relationships they had with one another is also intriguing and full of drama.

Thank you ❤️ That sounds lovely! Colorado is so breathtaking 😍 I can’t wait to go back and sketch/paint more of the landscape!

As a female artist, I am so so inspired by Georgia O’Keefe! I know a bit about Georgia and Alfred, but less about Ida- is there a good book on this you’d recommend?

I really love your graphite value studies. Your edges are excellent. I also really like the way you can bounce between abstract designs and representational portraits. I like your vertical hatching too. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.

I absolutely love your sketchbooks, and this one is spectacular. I’m so drawn to the shapes of the brush strokes in your paintings and the line work in your graphite drawings always seems to capture the light so perfectly. Will you be posting more “paint with me” (or “draw with me”) videos?

Thanks, so glad you like them! I love magical moments of light, and it is always something I try to capture in my work :) and yes! I’ll do more “paint with me” videos soon, keep an eye on my channel!

Can you recommend a small sketch book that will tolerate paint and mixed media well? I’m Really enjoying looking at your images.

Thank you! I like the moeskine art sketchbooks. They have one regular sketchbook and one with watercolor paper. The paper warps a little bit, but I think it’s fine for sketching :)

    • @christinakentart

I can totally understand that! Painting for me is mostly about shapes, while drawing is about line. Of course there is overlap between the two, but they are distinct skills! I definitely get rusty if I stop drawing for a while and just paint. For that reason I like to sketch regularly, to keep my drawing skills strong :)
