One day i was a young teenager, playing RPG and listening to Blind Guardian... In another day i'am a family man with 37 and still listen Blind Guardian, thank you for existing!
Still recall this song when they came to my city. In a place barely holding 300 people, all singing their heart out. I can only imagine the vibe when it's 300 000 people singing it live.
I don't think they'll ever get 300.000 people, but I saw them at Wacken 2016, where the crowd size was probably around 60.000 - And yes, it was amazing :) Still great at small venues though, feels even more like a family gathering.
Back in 2011 at Wacken, standing in a crowd of tens of thousands...all singing the Bards Song. God, that memory will always be with me and make me smile. BG created a master piece, so simple and yet so profound. Eternal beauty captured in a few minutes.
you know... you're in a mteal bar, in a foreign country. everyone is talking, drinking, yelling, and then the first second of this song comes up.... absolute silence. and then you have people you have never seen before in your life sing with you....
The classic of Blind Guardian's classic songs, my favorite of them all, the one that gives me the most chills in terms of quality. There is only one word for this video: Epic.
I raised my young sons on Blind Guardian and this song. They were great fans. Now it's a nostalgic trip to the past. However, the Bards are still kicking f*&king ass today, especially The God Machine. Wow! I'm a 66 year-old man, and I'm still kicking ass as well.
when other crowds chant "encore" or the bands name, we just kept singing the bards song until they came back on stage in dusseldorf. really nice and personal way to thank the band imho
A while back a group of mates and I saw Blind Guardian in Melbourne, Australia. We all got separated through the night and after regrouping with everyone after the show we we're all talking about it and I said "did you guys hear that guy calling out after every song to play the Bard's song?" Then one of my friends announces proudly "that was me!". Good times
Maybe it’s just me, but this version definitely has a more sorrowful and mournful feel to my ears than any other version. I’m thinking it’s mostly due to Hansi’s vocal interpretation here
This is such a beautiful song! But can we all just take a moment to appreciate this wonderful video as well? Beautiful to see these two eras come together. Thank you for this masterpiece! Both the song and the video!
The first time i hear this masterpiece, was a pretty good friend of mine showing me the live version, and when all the ppl start clapping, i got freaking goosebumps, its just an incredible hymn. Ty to the band for this, and to the ppl for make it greater.
this is the song that made me a fan when I was in high shcool. now 15+ years later, it comes back around and is exactly as world-altering to me now as it was then.
Stay heavy 🤘
Let's don't leave it standing at 6300 likes only ;) it deserves quite more. It's a song of a lifetime and will remain for other many many many decades.
Like our brother in metal said below, one day i was a teenager playing guitar, listening to metal, drinking galons of beer, partying at my moms house when she was away , all where there my old friends, we spoke of music and literature and girls and video games and stupid and fun thinks, i smoke weed and laugh my ass out during amazing summers and drink booze until morning or until passed out. we played magic the gathering and rehearse with our shitty band. NOw i am 43 years old, with a daughter of ten, working hard to survive and those days are long gone, my friend are all but disappeared and my mom no loger exists.... BUT THE BARD´S SONG WILL REMAIN!!
Quando uma multidão imensa canta a musica com a força dos pulmões, alegria e emoções no olhar, então você poderá concluir que esse é o verdadeiro e maior Hino do Heavy Metal !!!!
The way you are doing these videos is just so good… Having younger Hansi and than older Hansi opens so many memories in my heart that I cry and feel joy at the same time❤❤❤
Gentlemen. If there's a lifelong fan of your music, it's me. I loved the 2010-2015 albums when everyone pointed out the sound as an issue, ATEOT is still my favourite one. I adore your constant search for the new sound, from speed to thrash to power to prog to sympho, that's the coolest. And that's why it's devastating to hear this version of your masterpiece. The rest of the revisited album sounds amazing, it really does. Then why probably the most well known song is not polished at all? Not meaning "doesn't sound raw enough", quite the opposite. Rough and vivid cuts. Melodyne not even being subtle. And the "no one should ask..." part, was that a change of mic or a completely different recording? Please for the love of Ilúvatar tell me there is a better version or at least the raw files can be re-edited and remixed. Because this sounds like a tragedy I would never want for my favourite band ever. Anyhow, wish you all the best and cannot wait to see you live in the US. The bard songs will remain!
I have a very Grimdark Pathfinder 2E game coming up. And I have had now three songs that either mention or in some way deal with Bards and the Hero's. So now I'm thinking of having a NPC just randomly tell tales of the players exploits in bring a little hope into a world with nearly none to give. (yes its going to be THAT dark. Think along the lines of Warhammer Fantasy)

Same here! Except I'm a family woman 😊
I hope you’re still playing RPG’s, there’s no age limit for that!😊

You can't know metal without knowing this song. Let’s sing The Bard’s Song! (metal anthem)

Theres no borders in the metal comunity, only love for all of my sisters/brothers of metal. Cheers🤘
Dude yes. One thousand times yes
Singing along to the Bard's Song at a concert is just part of the BG experience 😁
Yes, took a friend to see his first BG show, he didn't believe me at first. But after the song he was flabbergasted 😉
🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Don't do drugs morons
Everyone stand up that a hymn is playing!
A timeless classic. Every single live version of it seems unique but also has the same vibe of people sharing the same mythic experience.
What a marvellous song! They are truly artists and not” just” highly skilled.

One of the BEST moments i had seeying a band live. They are amazing!!
Oh my lord, I feel like 13 again singing to this legendary piece. Cause the bard's song will remain, they all will remain.....
This is so powerful. It always makes me crying - in a good way. I hope I someday will be able to listen to it in a live version within a bunch of ppl
Soooo many memories and feels, and in one Song, too. :)
After all these years, I finally got to sing along in Atlanta this past April. Amazing night. ❤ I'll never forget it.
I saw them in May and it was everything I always hoped it was.
Denver here and yup, so amazing. Glad you all enjoyed it as much as I did.
One of the best song from metal.band which does not sound like metal song.
Such a great song! The version done by Van Canto is highly recommended, too!🤘🏻
Einfach unglaublich schön, damals wie heute 💯

The Song Is Miracle With Unic and Astonish Hansi Voice

Well over the years you revisited the song on every concert, so its fair that we get a revisited studio version.
Technically, it was re-recorded in 2003 for a single and on the best-of A Memories of a Time to Come, so we're on the third re-recording! :D
But on concerts the crowd is singing and not Hansi 😅
Maybe it’s just me, but this version definitely has a more sorrowful and mournful feel to my ears than any other version. I’m thinking it’s mostly due to Hansi’s vocal interpretation here

Probably the first time in decades that Hansi had to sing the whole song on his own :P
Amazing classic! Somewhere Far Beyond album 1992, Outstanding jewel Metal album! Remastered 2024 full album! Awesome! Up the Bards!!! 🤟😎🤘💙💙💙
