Let me help you with the lyrics.
Mark grew up in Newcastle a city in the North East of England. There's an area of the city called the Bigg Market that has bars and nightclubs as well as take out food shops.
Very popular with singles and couples. After the bars and clubs close people go and buy burgers, pizza and chinese food which they eat before going home.
At about 4am the street cleaning crew turn up clean up leaving the area tidy for the next day.
    The pertinent lyrics
"All the late night bargains have been struck.
Between the Satin Beau's and their Belles.
Prehistoric Garbage Trucks have the City to themselves.
Echoes and Roars and Dinosaurs are doing the Monster Mash.
The taxis and the whores are only taking calls for cash."
Mark writes the lyrics and music for all their songs. Each one tells a story.
Chris White on the Saxophone he also plays the flute.
Alan Clark and Guy Fletcher on Keyboards and
    Paul Franklin on Steel Guitar.

I'm a huge DS fan and I was at this show in 1992 in Milan (Italy). They did 4 nights and I went to all 4. In this live there are only two original members: Mark Knofler and John Illsley (bass guitar). In reality, the two keyboars players Alan Clark and Guy Fletcher also appeared as members of the band from the early 80s until their final dissolution in 1995. All the others on stage were session musicians.
Phil Palmer (2nd guitar) is a great guitarist and composer who has collaborated with Frank Zappa, The Who, Eric Clapton, Tina Turner, Pet Shop Boys, Tears for fears, Robbie Williams.
Chris Whitten on drums was Paul McCartney's drummer for many years.
Danny Cummings on percussion has worked with David Gilmour, Paul McCartney, Tina Turner, Depeche Mode, Elton John, Simply Red.
Paul Franklin on steel guitar has collaborated with Sting, Peter Frampton and Barbra Streisand.
Finally Chris White on sax has played with Paul McCartney, Rolling Stones and Robbie Williams.
I would like to point out that there is an active band, DIRE STRAITS LEGACY, which includes Phil Palmer, Danny Cummings, Alan Clark and Mel Collins (who played sax on the first DS albums and in the live Alchemy). They travel the world playing DS music. They've just been to Milan and I went to see them. Very very good. You can find their videos on RUclips including here a part of Live in Rome.

Whichever performance of theirs you are watching, they are all phenomenal. "Sultans of Swing", "Telegraph Road", and "Tunnel of Love" are the longer epic tunes, but there are plenty of ballads and in-between acts that are just as enjoyable like "Private Investigations", "Calling Elvis", "Where do you think you're going", "You and your friend", "On every street", "Brothers in Arms", the list goes on. Make sure to always watch he live stints (Alchemy tour, Sydney 1985, Wembles 85/88), or the "On the night" concert.

Another great song from Brothers In Arms showcasing their variety. From this concert (1993) you have to react to Private Investigations. Well you obviously don’t have to. But you should!

The lyrics tell of a musician whose heart has been broken (again -- "latest" trick) by a woman who he likens to a prostitute (with "trick" meaning the way she fooled him but also her new love interest). It's the end of the night and business is winding down (whores and taxis only accepting cash), while the garbage trucks are already doing their rounds. There are a few references showing his musical side ("bars" and "keys"). To me, the strongest line is "Like a Bowery bum when he finally understands the bottle's empty and there's nothing left". A Bowery Bum is someone who lived on New York's skid row from the 1940s to the 1970s. It show the singer's feeling of defeat and hopelessness.

Mark's last name Knopfler pronounces with a silent "K", i.e. Nopfler.

Chris White the saxophonist has an album called Jericho Walls. It's such a soothing album recommended for midnight relaxation after a hard day's work..beautiful. Also THE pedal steel player is Paul Franklin from USA. He's regarded as one of if not the best pedal steel players in the world. If you haven't seen the performance Brothers In Arms or Private Investigations from this very concert, I highly recommend it. Cheers from Australia 👍🎸🎸🎸
