@@usmcd3vildogdabeastis it doing it in all gears? Mine felt like it was slipping in 1st gear the first time i drive after it sits overnight. Only 1st gear when i first start driving. 2nd-10th works fine and first works fine after that first shift.
Thank you guys for the video, just did this myself on my 2020 and the AMSOIL made a significant difference, shifts a lot smoother and sometimes it would shift in reverse with a clunk but not anymore.

Yes if it was me I would start with an engine flush and the signature series motor oil. Also the pi performance improver. After that I would go right to doing the coolant and the transmission... Then I would do the differential fluid and the rest of the fluids like brake fluid Etc. Did my 22 3.0 duramax 30k today, it’s a very smooth transmission to begin with, AMSOIL ATF improves the shifting also you cannot hear or feel the shift into 1st and reverse anymore.
Well to start the transfer case is a basic drain and fill you can do that without jacking the truck up and it takes about 30 minutes. As far as the transmission cleaning the magnet putting a new gasket on and fluid that takes around 2 hours. So if it was a high-end shop and they were experts I think a reasonable price is $200 per hour so that would be 2.5 * 200. That's about $500 for labor. I think that's fair if you take it to a garage with overhead and that someone that has a bunch of employees. If you have a mobile mechanic which I recommend if you don't do your own fluids it's always good to have a mobile mechanic do it for you and you can order the products from me on my website and I can always answer your questions in the future with your oil and lube. That's my opinion I understand there are a lot of tools that are expensive like Steven has so including those high-end tools I think anywhere within 10 or 20% of that range is completely Fair. Now if someone's looking for like $500 an hour I think that is definitely pushing it I get the scan tools and the employees cost a lot of money but not $500 an hour.....lol Let's give a man a fishing pole & show him how to fish. Do you need to drain the converter as well to have all the fluid replaced? Otherwise you will have the new and old fluids mix. I only see them change the fluid in the pan and not the converter. Any feedback from knowledgeable people? Thanks in advance.

Great questions personally I always use a Wix filter in my transmission always had great results he ended up reusing the bolts and that torque converter will always have fluid in it so no big deal all you do is do a pan drop and then refill it and you're good to go☕️

I'm at 35K miles, my '19 AT4 6.2 started shifting nasty. I took it to get it looked at but they didn't find anything wrong. Said without a code, not much they could do. Im going to give this a try and see if it helps any.

I have a 2016 GMC 8 speed. Not a great transmission. Hopefully upgrading to a new diesel 3.0. I plan to do the same. Change the fluid to Amsoil. Great video.

so maybe i missed something, but do you not need to drain the cooler return line to get rid of the rest of the old fluid that was still left in the lines?

@@Syntheticoilprotection i've only changed them on toyota but have done same process as he did, but once i have pan back on and filled up, then i hook a line to the return cooler line, start engine and let it pump out 2 quarts of fluid, turn off engine, add 2 quarts back to tranny, and repeat 2-3 times until it's all new fluid coming back through, then everything is all new
Hey guys, trust everyone is well, so we bought a 2017 gmc sierra 1500 slt 5.3l double cab in 2021 ,my wife's taken twice to Walmart to just have tires rotated, aligned and oil change, I've changed the oil after that myself n filter its a S.O.B but RUclips was my guide we now hit the 93k miles mark she has no idea if the transmission, front or rear axle or transfer case fluid was ever changed.. last couple days I noticed a clicking sound coming from idk if it's the transmission when shifting into drive or reverse or if it's from the breaks.. hard to tell.. what do you suggest I do..

I do 160 miles round trip for work and I was loosing ( burning ) a quart every 2000 miles which Mazda even said was acceptable. Factory service manual states (in big red letters) not to use anything but dextron ULV atf in the 10l80 and i did not see that specified on the back of the amsoil bottle
That's correct all the manufacturers want you to use their products the reason is because they want your vehicle to fail early and fail often that makes them more money in servicing and parts some of the largest profit margins on vehicles is in Service Repairs and parts. I have the same exact truck but in white. What would it cost roughly for this to be done? I use amsoil diesel in mine since about 3k miles. I just wish amsoil would make a oil filter for the 3.0L

Boy I really don't know I've never put all kinds of different products into diesels. The only thing I recommend are the diesel fuel additives which will clean the fuel system it'll help clean the fuel filter you'll make more power better fuel mileage the one I recommend is the diesel injector clean plus eating boost the green bottle I recommend the 16 oz bottles and buying it by the case you'll notice a huge difference in power fuel mileage. Great question Mark honestly I don't know I've done many transmission fluid changes on the channel and the most important thing is to always make sure the fluid is warm when you do the final fill if it's cold you'll put too much transmission fluid into the component and you can overfill it and the ETF fluid expands when it gets hot so it's important to always make sure it's warm almost at operating temperature. Hey bud I was wondering if Steve can answer something for me I have a 2016 Chevy Silverado and it does the Chevy shakes if changing the transmission fluid to amzoil will help with that? Apparently is a common thing with 2014 models all the way up to 2018 models
It's a great question any fluid you switch to Amsoil will improve your vehicle You're going to have less friction less heat less wear because of the 100% synthetic film strength that keeps the metal parts separated. As far as physically having something wrong with you vehicle there could be and in that case it would have to be fixed. To have extended life on the transmission also to have faster shifts better fuel mileage less vibration the Amsoil ATF fluid is 100% synthetic did you know a oil manufacturer can call a full synthetic full synthetic when it's only 25% synthetic? That's how the Amsoil is so different it's good for double the severe service interval
What is the part number for the 2 filter bolts? I tried to get them through the dealer and when they came, they were short and steel bolts. Not aluminum.

I had the dealer drain my transmission and replace with amsoil and new filter same 10 speed transmission with the 6.2 they told me they would not warranty any mechanical failures to trans because amsoil was installed is this legal???

That's a good question Jim depends on driving conditions usually if you're doing a lot of City driving you want to change it around 15 to 20,000 miles if you're doing City and towing if you're doing more mixed driving you're going to want to do it more around 40,000 miles and if you're doing all highway driving you're going to be good for about $60,000 now the sooner you change it you're just going to have a lot better performance and faster shifting you can also come back and do another drain and fill and get more of the older fluid out which I personally do in my car and you'll see that on the playlist👍
How is this a complete fluid exchange when you are just dropping the pan. Why not use a fluid exchange machine for a near complete fluid exchange? No reason to change filter at that point.
That's a great question when you change half the fluid it cleans the clutch packs with the higher detergent Amsoil Signature Series also cleaning the filter allows your transmission to flow better and cleaning the magnets allows the magnets to be more effective it will extend the lifespan of the transmission increase the shifting speed and will also give less vibration in the drivetrain. You can mix the fluid it is compatible and it still makes a huge difference even if you don't remove all the fluid which you cannot it is inside the torque converter. I'm talking Austin I recommend checking a parts book for the specific vehicle or you could also contact a technician that works on that specific vehicle if you want to know exactly what the spec is I always generalize and always make sure I never over tighten anything.

As soon as I heard Steve say what he did about dodge, I felt like I was back at my shop,lol! I call it Dodge Row because we always have at least 4 come in every week. With the transmission issues and the module/TIPM issues, STAY away!
He used a standard pressurized tank holds about 6 quarts of fluid at a time you hand pump the top of it and then you fill it with pressure you can get them at a boat shop and a lot of different auto parts stores carry them they make it a lot easier you can also use a hand pump however those are a lot cheaper they can break easier you can also squeeze it in with an EZ pack if you get the EZ pack ATF package as long as you have the adapter that threads into the pan and a tight fitting hose that goes on the tip of the EZ pack you can also easily squeeze it in as well so both options I would recommend the easy pack method will eliminate mechanical failure because the EZ pack holds about 1100 lb of pressure so it won't burst on you and if you'd like to get the adapter kit you should be able to get that at a local auto parts store or they may have an entire pool thread on kit at the Harbor Freight and that way you'd have all the different threat on attachments in one kit for every type of transpan. That's the 3/8 drive snap on impact his is the old version the new versions even better lithium with brushless motor way more torque it'll even last longer They cost about 7 bucks
I do not know I know exactly but it's about the torque of putting your hand directly over the drive and turning it with one hand probably around 6:00 to 9 lb of torque somewhere in there is my guess but I would look it up online you should be able to find it published somewhere
Does the new tranny filter come with those two bolts? My Trans temp got to about 240 this summer pulling my camper and I want to change the fluid out before the end of the year

@@usmcd3vildogdabeast if you are experiencing slippage i would not advise changing the fluid. Doing so can actually make the issue worse.
@@usmcd3vildogdabeastis it doing it in all gears? Mine felt like it was slipping in 1st gear the first time i drive after it sits overnight. Only 1st gear when i first start driving. 2nd-10th works fine and first works fine after that first shift.

I recently sucked trans fluid out with a hand pump through dipstick tube so dont have to take a red shower. Easier to drop pan without the mess

Almost all the newer cars are very similar they have a filter and usually you always do a new gasket clean the magnets and then you put the pan on and you usually fill them from underneath that's about 75% of all the Transmissions👍

Yes if it was me I would start with an engine flush and the signature series motor oil.
Also the pi performance improver.
After that I would go right to doing the coolant and the transmission...
Then I would do the differential fluid and the rest of the fluids like brake fluid Etc.

Did my 22 3.0 duramax 30k today, it’s a very smooth transmission to begin with, AMSOIL ATF improves the shifting also you cannot hear or feel the shift into 1st and reverse anymore.

What should be cost for Transmission flush and Transfer Case and diff for 22 GMC 2500?
Asked Dealer and they wanting like $400 a piece
Well to start the transfer case is a basic drain and fill you can do that without jacking the truck up and it takes about 30 minutes.
As far as the transmission cleaning the magnet putting a new gasket on and fluid that takes around 2 hours.
So if it was a high-end shop and they were experts I think a reasonable price is $200 per hour so that would be 2.5 * 200. That's about $500 for labor.
I think that's fair if you take it to a garage with overhead and that someone that has a bunch of employees.
If you have a mobile mechanic which I recommend if you don't do your own fluids it's always good to have a mobile mechanic do it for you and you can order the products from me on my website and I can always answer your questions in the future with your oil and lube.
That's my opinion I understand there are a lot of tools that are expensive like Steven has so including those high-end tools I think anywhere within 10 or 20% of that range is completely Fair.
Now if someone's looking for like $500 an hour I think that is definitely pushing it I get the scan tools and the employees cost a lot of money but not $500 an hour.....lol

Do you need to drain the converter as well to have all the fluid replaced? Otherwise you will have the new and old fluids mix. I only see them change the fluid in the pan and not the converter. Any feedback from knowledgeable people? Thanks in advance.
Great question Gino exactly they can be mixed and even when you do a very small drain and fill on a transmission and only change a third of it it's still a startling difference they modifiers clean up the trends shifts faster also much higher film strength I always recommend coming back and doing another drain and fill later if you want to get the fluid look better and you want the transmission the last longer it's completely up to you but that is correct👍

What transfilter do you purchase? Did it include the bolts? What about dirty fluid in torque converter?
Great questions personally I always use a Wix filter in my transmission always had great results he ended up reusing the bolts and that torque converter will always have fluid in it so no big deal all you do is do a pan drop and then refill it and you're good to go☕️

I have a 2016 GMC 8 speed. Not a great transmission. Hopefully upgrading to a new diesel 3.0. I plan to do the same. Change the fluid to Amsoil. Great video.

so this must be diesel truck. I heard the gas engines you have to remove O2 sensors drop y pipe to get the pan off.. is that correct?
That's a great question I honestly don't know but they are different depending on the year and the component some of the same model has a different transmission so it can be slightly different also mid model year they can change and modify the transmission mounting so always good to double-check before you start the job😃☕️

How many quarts of transmission fluid? Did you get to full up the transmission.

@@Syntheticoilprotection i've only changed them on toyota but have done same process as he did, but once i have pan back on and filled up, then i hook a line to the return cooler line, start engine and let it pump out 2 quarts of fluid, turn off engine, add 2 quarts back to tranny, and repeat 2-3 times until it's all new fluid coming back through, then everything is all new

Hey guys, trust everyone is well, so we bought a 2017 gmc sierra 1500 slt 5.3l double cab in 2021 ,my wife's taken twice to Walmart to just have tires rotated, aligned and oil change, I've changed the oil after that myself n filter its a S.O.B but RUclips was my guide we now hit the 93k miles mark she has no idea if the transmission, front or rear axle or transfer case fluid was ever changed.. last couple days I noticed a clicking sound coming from idk if it's the transmission when shifting into drive or reverse or if it's from the breaks.. hard to tell.. what do you suggest I do..

I should mention that I just did a second transmission oil change on my CX5 at another 100,000 KM or 60,000 Miles and this time I used AMSOIL it felt like butter, much better than first time I used the Mazda’s dealership’s synthetic oil. I do 160 miles round trip for work and I was loosing ( burning ) a quart every 2000 miles which Mazda even said was acceptable. The Amsoil is in and like you said it deals with the heat much better than any other oil What oil burning problems. 😂 ✌️

Factory service manual states (in big red letters) not to use anything but dextron ULV atf in the 10l80 and i did not see that specified on the back of the amsoil bottle
That's correct all the manufacturers want you to use their products the reason is because they want your vehicle to fail early and fail often that makes them more money in servicing and parts some of the largest profit margins on vehicles is in Service Repairs and parts.
Anything that shows up on the lookup guide here is and meets the specifications for that vehicle as long as it's on the lookup guide.

Boy I really don't know I've never put all kinds of different products into diesels.
The only thing I recommend are the diesel fuel additives which will clean the fuel system it'll help clean the fuel filter you'll make more power better fuel mileage the one I recommend is the diesel injector clean plus eating boost the green bottle I recommend the 16 oz bottles and buying it by the case you'll notice a huge difference in power fuel mileage.

Great question Mark honestly I don't know I've done many transmission fluid changes on the channel and the most important thing is to always make sure the fluid is warm when you do the final fill if it's cold you'll put too much transmission fluid into the component and you can overfill it and the ETF fluid expands when it gets hot so it's important to always make sure it's warm almost at operating temperature.

Hey bud I was wondering if Steve can answer something for me I have a 2016 Chevy Silverado and it does the Chevy shakes if changing the transmission fluid to amzoil will help with that? Apparently is a common thing with 2014 models all the way up to 2018 models
It's a great question any fluid you switch to Amsoil will improve your vehicle You're going to have less friction less heat less wear because of the 100% synthetic film strength that keeps the metal parts separated.
As far as physically having something wrong with you vehicle there could be and in that case it would have to be fixed.
I highly recommend switching all the fluids on your vehicle to Amsoil you will notice a huge improvement no matter what as far as fixing something that's broken it will not fix broken metal parts.

Torque converter is normally what causes the shacks
Why u change the transmission fluid with only 10k miles ? Is not supposed at 60 k ?
To have extended life on the transmission also to have faster shifts better fuel mileage less vibration the Amsoil ATF fluid is 100% synthetic did you know a oil manufacturer can call a full synthetic full synthetic when it's only 25% synthetic?
That's how the Amsoil is so different it's good for double the severe service interval

What is the part number for the 2 filter bolts? I tried to get them through the dealer and when they came, they were short and steel bolts. Not aluminum.

I had the dealer drain my transmission and replace with amsoil and new filter same 10 speed transmission with the 6.2 they told me they would not warranty any mechanical failures to trans because amsoil was installed is this legal???

Shouldn't you powerflush the transmission first in order to dump all the old stuff?

That's a good question Jim depends on driving conditions usually if you're doing a lot of City driving you want to change it around 15 to 20,000 miles if you're doing City and towing if you're doing more mixed driving you're going to want to do it more around 40,000 miles and if you're doing all highway driving you're going to be good for about $60,000 now the sooner you change it you're just going to have a lot better performance and faster shifting you can also come back and do another drain and fill and get more of the older fluid out which I personally do in my car and you'll see that on the playlist👍

How is this a complete fluid exchange when you are just dropping the pan. Why not use a fluid exchange machine for a near complete fluid exchange? No reason to change filter at that point.
That's a great question when you change half the fluid it cleans the clutch packs with the higher detergent Amsoil Signature Series also cleaning the filter allows your transmission to flow better and cleaning the magnets allows the magnets to be more effective it will extend the lifespan of the transmission increase the shifting speed and will also give less vibration in the drivetrain. You can mix the fluid it is compatible and it still makes a huge difference even if you don't remove all the fluid which you cannot it is inside the torque converter.

I'm talking Austin I recommend checking a parts book for the specific vehicle or you could also contact a technician that works on that specific vehicle if you want to know exactly what the spec is I always generalize and always make sure I never over tighten anything.

Yeah I think if it was my vehicle I probably do the trans fluids and everything at 5,000 miles.

what kind of pump did he use to get the fluid in
He used a standard pressurized tank holds about 6 quarts of fluid at a time you hand pump the top of it and then you fill it with pressure you can get them at a boat shop and a lot of different auto parts stores carry them they make it a lot easier you can also use a hand pump however those are a lot cheaper they can break easier you can also squeeze it in with an EZ pack if you get the EZ pack ATF package as long as you have the adapter that threads into the pan and a tight fitting hose that goes on the tip of the EZ pack you can also easily squeeze it in as well so both options I would recommend the easy pack method will eliminate mechanical failure because the EZ pack holds about 1100 lb of pressure so it won't burst on you and if you'd like to get the adapter kit you should be able to get that at a local auto parts store or they may have an entire pool thread on kit at the Harbor Freight and that way you'd have all the different threat on attachments in one kit for every type of transpan.

I know the video is a year old but has Steven ever thought of doing PPE transmission pan and oil pan?
That's a darn good question I'm sure he may get into it if he would do heavy towing something possibly for better heat transfer but I think he's keeping it pretty light what does the PPE stand for?

That's the 3/8 drive snap on impact his is the old version the new versions even better lithium with brushless motor way more torque it'll even last longer They cost about 7 bucks
What is the torque spec on the transmission pan on a 2020 gmc sierra 2500 hd
I do not know I know exactly but it's about the torque of putting your hand directly over the drive and turning it with one hand probably around 6:00 to 9 lb of torque somewhere in there is my guess but I would look it up online you should be able to find it published somewhere
You just want to make sure you don't go too high tight because it will pinch the gasket and it can also bend the pan

Does the new tranny filter come with those two bolts? My Trans temp got to about 240 this summer pulling my camper and I want to change the fluid out before the end of the year
The filter kit doesn't come with it however we just reuse the bolts and everything was perfect
