- @Crimebustersnetwork obtained police body cam footage of a retail theft arrest at Walmart. Upon arriving, the responding officer discovered two suspects attempting to leave the scene. The officer quickly detained both suspects and took them to the loss prevention room while he conducts his investigation.

The only time I've done that was when I was homeless and saving to pay for my ID. THEN I got it. Your name/bday/ssn, given verbally, sufficed for me in that situation if anyone needed to ID me (which didn't happen outside of going to the BMV for the ID or a job interview).

I don’t know where this happened exactly but Harsher punishments for shoplifting have been put in place here in Florida longer prison sentences
@@Venom-zi4ht Happened in Florida, and as of about a week ago (today being 4/26/24) the governor has signed legislation upping the criminal threshold, and the penalties for shoplifting. Shoplifting is going to down, because these losers do not watch the news and will only find out once there bond is too high for them to be bonded out, and they end up with hefty sentences and fines. Jails are going to be crowded for a bit, but if we have to build more jails and prisons so be it. I want to live in a lawful community, and these crimes are making taxes and prices go up.

I believe the guy really thought she paid for the stuff, but she knew what she was doing. This isn't her first rodeo. If my husband was put in handcuffs while walking to the car, i wouldn't keep walking. She was going to let him take the blame for the theft even though he didn't do it. That's dirty. I can understand why they don't take them to jail. I wonder how many people from whatever city they are in are charged with shoplifting on a daily basis? There is probably not enough room in all their jails to house them.
When I was 21 years old I had to go to court on a disorderly conduct almost everyone else was there for shoplifting. They all plead not guilty, I was like it’s shoplifting, if you weren’t guilty you would not be here. There must have been 100 of them and none were guilty. They didn’t jail anyone and that was in 1991. We wouldn’t have any place for the murderers if we locked up shoplifters.
Shoplifting is bad in itself, but at least some excuse can be made for it, depending on what you steal. But WHY can't these people just comply when they get caught? It's ridiculous!
