Elden Ring - Unused Godrick Dialogue

  • Found some unused dialogue for Godrick the Grafted. The poem at the end I've heard before but the lines about grafting and hunting I hadn't. Perhaps there was a different version of Godrick's boss fight that had him spawning knights to fight you?
Most of these lines appear within the audio transcript with the exception of a few. For this video, the subtitles should be mostly accurate.
    Anyways, enjoy the video :)

idk he sounds sooo different, more human in a miserable way. the one we got sounds more scary, more self confident, like if he finally overcame his fear of being the weakest among his brothers. On the other hand this one sounds sounds "younger", like if he just began to graft

Exactly my thoughts. The last of the golden lineage (that is not cursed), grown up with tales of the great king Godfrey, his ancestor. Another ancestor, if not father/grandfather Godwyn brought the dragons to heel and befriended one. As the last heir he obviously feels an incredible need to be as good as these ledgends, so he does whatever he can to gain power and eventually loses his mind. Reminds me of Viserys from asoiaf.

As it stands in the game, they really seem to be that kind of an enemy. But on the other hand, i feel like theyre more the receiver of limbs. And they look very young and their Name "Scion" could mean that theyre the kids of a very rich guy, associated with grafting. If only there was a Lord that is into that kinda thing without a kid to give his title to. Maybe they were planned as Godricks Kids at some point in development. Would fit Martins Style. @TheEyeWatching 2 года назад +19

Don't forget Kenneth Haight warning you to watch out for Godrick's Tarnished hunts and Rogier warning you that Stormveil is "bristling" with Tarnished hunters. There's only one Scion in the castle so they can't possibly be his hunters. But there are a lot of Banished Knights which have unused riding attachments. On top of this cut dialogue. Now I believe these lines were cut because there simply wasn't a good place for Godrick to say these things, but the fact that they were written and even voiced at all means Fromsoft thought it would be important. All of this points to a threat the player was going to face that simply doesn't exist in the final game. Much like Margit telling you to "cower in fear of the night" when you have to go out of your way to fight most of the Night's Cavalry and can go the whole game without even knowing they exist.

  • @HeirofcIreland

The ballad is very melancholic. It reminds you of the fact that while Godfrey is a monster he still longs for a home he and his followers will never return too.
Perhaps it was this exile and his failure to live up to the Golden Lineage, amid constant humiliation, that drove him to the act of grafting.
He has made himself a monster, killed many innocents and fallen into one of the most deprived acts in the setting.
But in his mind, there is no other option, what choice does he have?
It’s all for one singular purpose.
    To go home,
    Bathed in rays of Gold.

I feel like the First few lines would fit If he would oversee a balcony with some of his knights to speak to.
"This Strength is mine." A player death quote, maybe? Or *
"Insolence! You filthy little tarnished!" Mid-battle Quote?
"Insolence! You upjumped little tarnished." Another Mid-battle Quote?
"A fresh offering to graft!" * A player death quote or, maybe it was possible to join his covenant and you could bring him the corpses of defeated pvp enemies.
I have no idea about the poem. Maybe it is something that he will mumber randomly as an NPC like Master Hewg with his prayers, like whenever he thinks hes alone.
Take all of this with a graint of Salt as these are just baseless speculations. None of these lines are optimized for the game and they could very well just be for testing purposes, hes the first major boss after all.

It is said that Godrick insulted Malenia before losing to her in battle and begging for his life like a coward. The phrase "...nor the rank malformed twins" refers to Malenia and Miquella, who are in some way malformed. Malenia has the scarlet rot, and Miquella is cursed with eternal childhood. The fact that he stutters betrays a degree of hesitation, like he fears Malenia will pop out and punish him again. He's been thoroughly traumatized. He really is a coward at heart. It is also said that he hides in that castle because he's terrified of Radahn who resides in the neighboring Caelid.

Guys.. don’t misunderstand this. This isn’t young Godrick, or a pre-grafted Godrick. Godrick has been grafting for a VERY LONG TIME, maybe 100 years. The reason he sounds, “Young,” is because the little filters over his voice haven’t been applied since this was cut out. But.. that means that the, “This strength, is mine.” Dialogue is FUCKING SUPERB VOICE ACTING. Same with, “Oh GREAT KING GODFREY!”

You know that might explain the death blighted corpse under Stormveil. It's someone from the golden lineage (I don't think that's just "part of Godwyn". It has a Basilisk head and a clear body. ) Which means that after Godwyn's Death, this ritual of killing off the golden line continued. Their bodies live, in the wandering mausoleums. And their heads are cut off, maybe so as to stop the spread of deathblight but more probably as a ritual sacrifice to the Death Rite bird who is an envoy of the Death Bird. A Bird God. A deity that takes souls rejected by the Erdtree to another destination. Perhaps Helphen. In the weeping peninsula there is a ghost that laments the demigod in the wandering mausoleum is Marika's unwanted child, leading me to believe she is responsible for the night of the Black knives. She said herself that those children of hers who could not amount to anything would amount only to sacrifices. Why do that to Godwyn though? He had a thing goin! He had his lil dragon cult in the capital and everything. Why would MArika do that? She vanquished the god in Farum Azula so maybe there was still anymosity there and she didn't like her son getting too "friendly" with the dragons. And I mean... let's be honest there was probably human - dragon relations goin on!
Anyways, I think that's quite deep enough in to the rabbit hole for now for me!
