The man most worthy of the crown is the one who does not want it.
Morgott thinks nothing of himself or his own glory. He sees his role as King of Leyndell not as a privilege but as a duty, and he takes it upon himself to bear its heavy weight on his shoulders forever. He dresses in rags and hides his identity from his people, who would despise and reject him if they knew who he was, even though he is the royal blood of Godfrey, and has clearly inherited his father's great strength and nobility.
When he calls himself "last of all kings," it carries two meanings. As a cursed monster rejected by grace, he is the least of all those who held the throne before him. But as the Erdtree's eternal protector, he will be the final king standing in its defense at the end of the world.

Morgott's rule is pretty awful. It's objectively passionless, genocidal and self destructive. He spent his time waging war on anything that might've presented change in his Stockholm syndrome to the shattered Golden Order that only makes exception to himself among Omens. Morgott inheriting the Shattered age and kept it that way because the Golden Order culture makes him hate himself and any ambition he might've held.
Radahn was cut down after successfully taming the heavens themselves to protect all lives in the land. Even in his rotten madness he's isolated himself to be killed and protects his equally infected but still loyal stead Leonard.
Of all the demigods I believe only Radahn, Miquella, and Godwyn had genuine aims to revitalizing the world instead of abandoning it or furthering the depravity.

Agreed. The first three you name literally become vessels for gods akin to Marika/Radagon. So the Tarnished did indeed best most of the demigods at their strongest. Hoarah Loux is also his peak and I think it isn't even a debate. Because if him dying before finding grace is him being nerfed then the Tarnished is also nerfed when we beat him, since the whole point of the intro was us being brought back from the brink. We even die at the beginning against the Grafted Scion or the fall as we arrive in the Lands Between to illustrate that point further.

Marika sent Godfrey and his tarnished on a long march outside of the lands between in hope that they would grow stronger as they struggle without the aid of the golden grace. So when Godfrey returned to the lands between, he has both the strength he gathered as a tarnished and his guidance of grace.
Radagon might be nothing but a husk of his former self, but we then fought the literally embodiment of the elden ring (I said great will originally oops) and won.

Both Morgott and Radahn are mighty warriors, learned scholars and decent, honorable men at their core (at least compared to just about everyone else in this setting). But I'd have to go with Radahn on this one.
Morgott is plagued by self-hatred. He hides his identity as the king of Leyndell both out of necessity and shame. And while he's well-aware that the Erdtree has closed itself to the world and abandoned it to its fate, he's so blindly devoted to the Golden Order that he can't even consider improving it. On paper, Morgott has the strength, the intellect and the temperament to rule, but all of his talents go to waste because he doesn't trust himself to upend the status-quo.
Radahn's mindset is the exact opposite. He seems to seek constant improvement. He was beaten by Morgott, so he grew to gigantic proportions and became a master of war in all of its aspects. He became too large for his scrawny horse, so he learned gravity magic to keep riding him. And in contrast with Morgott's status as the "veiled monarch", it's telling that even reduced to a primal state, Radahn still inspires undying loyalty in his troops.
Now, perhaps these traits alone don't make you a good ruler. But to overcome the specific challenges facing the Lands Between? Pre-rot Radahn appears to be the best candidate.

I'd actually say Miquella. He and Morgott are the only outwardly benevolent and selfless Empyreans, and unlike Morgott who is unfortunately shunned due to his Omen status, Miquella on the other hand was basically worshipped as a God by both the people of Leyndale and the Lands Between as a whole. He planted the Haligtree and made it a safe haven for Albinaurics where they could have their own city, and his primary goal was seeking a cure for both Scarlet Rot and breaking the Erdtrees hold on souls.
Only downside is he probably has extreme mind-control powers so he might be a total tyrant but everyones opinion of him is so high because he simply brainwashes them.
I find it unlikely that he could use this power on his father Radagon however, who had an immensely high opinion of him as his "favored son." And we know Radagon is a diehard paladin archetype.

Based on the fact that Leyndell is the most well of place during the game and also Morgott's inteligence it's pretty clear that he is quite the gifted admistrator and ruler especially during peace time when he dosen't have to focus on military maters. He was probably Torrent's previous master and we all know Torrent is an impeccable judge of character.

It's not clear whether Miquella is actually good though. He's a pretty mysterious character who could pretty much be a wrongdoer for all we know. From bewitching branch, we know "The Empyrean Miquella is loved by many people. Indeed, he has learned very well how to compel such affection", which could be understood as his power. We knew he was not a fighter since he needed Malenia as a protector, but Malenia also refers to him as "strongest of all demigods"... could it be that Miquella's ability was to conjure an obsessive love for those surrounding him? To force his will onto anyone, anywhere? As things happen, we know of someone who happened to be obsessively addicted to his company... would it be possible that Mohg was conjured, and the entire ordeal of him was Miquella trying to get the powers of the cursed blood and the Formless Mother? We also know that Miquella abandoned the Golden Order, and tried to grow a new Erdtree from the Haligtree after the Greater Will didn't respond to his prayers to cure him and his sister... but his tries failed as the Haligtree wasn't powerful enough.
The only outer god we know of that actively made contact with a demigod is the Formless Mother, and Miquella has pretty good reasons to recieve her power and rise as a god to oppose the Greater Will
This is all just speculation, but it would be the biggest 180 turn in FromSoftware gaming if Miquella actually came out as the real big bad, with Mohg just being a small part of his plans.

Even in the clip at 3:32, is easy to see that not only is his stature shrunk to normal proportions, all his horns on the right side of his face are gone. How does this impact the idea of the omen curse as viewed by the Dung Eater, that the curse is inheritable and soulbound?

I don't know if anyone thought like this, but prowess and noblesse in battle are not synonyms to a great ruler.
In my humble opinion, Morgott was always the one supposed to be the Elden Lord, but he wasn't daring enough to betray all he believed in and turn himself against the Greater Will to burn the thorns in the Erdtree. Morgott was already a king for a long, long time. His values were true, and he despised all other demigods, who fell to the desire of more power.
Absolutely nothing says Radhan wasn't the same. After all, he waged war. But he IS a general, and we've been proven time and again that he was a good, fair and strong general. The thing is, a general is not necessarily a good administrator. I think both should be able to rule together, if the Greater Will didn't shut the world out to keep one Marika shut for eternal punishment.
Morgott would be the perfect Elden Lord for the Golden Order, for he stood by their values until the very end, trying time and again to prevent us from becoming just like the other demigods and falling for power, ending up strong enough to subdue him and his beliefs. We came to prove him wrong and crush all his dreams and everything he once believed in and I feel so, so bad about it.
His death was one of the most painful to me, along with Malenia, whose sole desire was to see her beloved twin once again, the one she failed to protect. Both of them had their dreams and beliefs crushed by the Tarnished and this is just sad.
Morgott is already King. He should be the Lord also, had he the courage to stand against his own Will.

I had always thought that Radahn deserved to be an elden lord above all. Not only does he have some of the most INSANE feats, but he clearly was the strongest of all the demi-gods. The only one who came close to his strength at his prime WAS Malenia, but even she was forced to give in to the influence of the rot ONLY to end the battle in a stalemate. On top of all of this as mentioned in the video, Radahn clearly idolized Godfrey with the portrayal of Serosh on his armor. Radahn was the GOAT!

    Okay, here me out here:
    Godrick should be Elden Lord
It may seem crazy given how petty he is, but let’s look at the facts:
Godrick had the largest army at the start of the shattering, and his army remains one of the largest. Logistically, to support such a large force you would need a mountain of an economy with defended supply lines and loyal villages and towns providing resources.
Such loyal towns exist, as proof look at Castle Morne, all it defenders are loyal to Godrick, despite his grafting. While some like Kenneth Haight decry and debase Godrick, he attacks his character, not his skills.
Fleeing from Leyndell under the disguise of a woman: that’s called a tactical move when you’re stuck behind hostile lines
Hiding from Radahan’s army in his castle? That’s called picking your battles and not fighting a dude that can kill hundreds of soldiers with a single swing.
Losing to Malenia, well who wouldn’t?
Overall, Godrick makes smart decisions, and the only reason he’s treated as a joke is becuase despite his army being on of the best in the Lands Between, he isn’t freakishly strong like the other demigods, he’s a regular dude that has to contend with Titans, and he doesn’t have the guidance of grace to help him.
Godrick may seem like a joke, but the man can run an empire like it’s nothing, he knows how to outsource for help in the form of mercenaries, has easily the most fertile and bountiful region of Limgrave, and despite being weak compared to the other lords, he’s at least sane enough to make rational decisions and isn’t focused solely on revenge or honor. The only reason he sits in Stormveil is becuase he’s building his strength through grafting, and given how powerful Godefroy, his ancestor who also used grafting to grow stronger, it’s possible for Godrick to get powerful enough to claim the title of Elden Lord

    • @ismeneilios4274
      @ismeneilios4274 11 месяцев назад +12

Wealth, power, etc. Same reasons why anyone in our world ever wanted to be king.
The Elden Ring seems to govern reality. For example, when the rune of death was removed the lands between became a (mostly) deathless wasteland. And depending on how we choose to mend the Ring, reality changes. Presumably a God + Elden Lord could modify the Elden Ring in any way they saw fit so long as it doesn't go against the Greater Will.

    • @clorkmagnus
      @clorkmagnus 11 месяцев назад +1

The Elden Ring contain the godly power given to Marika and her Demi gods offsprings from the Greater Will.
The Demigods inherited one rune each while Marika and Radagon held the remained with the exception of Maliketh, his destines death was something that was took from another Empyrean.
You took the great runes from the Demi gods once you defeat them so it’s quite possible your character gathered the runes power to grow stronger. To become the Elden Lord of the golden order mean you need to covert the GW power, even if you decided to start the new golden order with different doctrines.
In other Elden Lord endings you covert different outer gods power. Anyway taking away the Elden Ring mean you possess godly power and rule the world or destroy the world at will (chaos, curse ending etc). So even if for good reasons, you probably want to take it instead of some lunatic like Mogh.
