On the same boat, I could sink hundreds of hours in Monster Hunter (which is little by nowaday's standards, still huge for me) but I never could stand From Soft games. Probably because the non linear style, which means no clear progress - you just play however you want, that if you went in without a guide, finishing the game could mean few hours or a few days.
@@DarkRavenWolf50 that is correct, but just the abstract state of progress is enough of a turn off for me. It's just a matter of taste. I hate when you could just be under or over leveled for an area unintended, with no way of knowing except just going at it head on. But this game's visual and mechanic more than make it up for it. I'm downloading it as I write this. Can't really say the same for older From Soft games tho

Having a blood build and finding out that the last 2 bosses are immune to bleed sucks, but imagine how I felt, with my faith build, after realizing the Elden Beast is apparently immune to holy damage 🥲
I've been a fan of yours since the early days of BF4. I love your content and your love for the games that you cover, but nothing beats your videos in which you narrate your experiences as a grizzled man aged by fond memories of being beaten to the core and overcoming the odds in a glorious triumph. Seriously, the way you narrate these videos is like you're reading a fantasy novel. It's amazing. I always look forward to seeing more from you, and I hope you and yours are doing well.
I've beaten Elden Ring once already, but I still keep coming back to this video every so often. The sheer variety of weapons, magic, strategies, and the amount of exploration stitched into these clips is an absolute masterpiece, and even though it's only 19 minutes, it feels like an incredible series of overcoming obstacles, discovering new things, and splashed with occasional humor. And of course, all of it is voiced over by Jack's good narrating voice, making this definitely a pleasant use of 19 minutes every time I see it. Thanks, Jack!
2:10-2:30 As a Souls game vet, I'm used to respawning only to replay the exact same level all over again. I'm used to learning to hate what are otherwise great bosses by the time I'm finally rid of them. I'm used to endless torture and pain. But even the most accomplished of Souls vets would cower in terror if that chest had spawned you into the Skyrim intro.

It is crazy how watching you play this from beginning to end you started the game off with expectations of not struggling the bosses being somewhat easy and overall a cheery attitude I like how over time all the struggling and triumph that you experienced made you sound more mature and serious in your later fights
I was extremely dubious of this game and came in with negative expectations. Safe to say I’ve played it every day since release and it keeps getting better. What a masterpiece
I had negative expectations because i absolutely hated dark souls 3, but elden ring is just that much of an improvement. Those negative expectations made the eventual experience even better.

@@Anfield_the_place_to_be I was 120+ hours by the time I was at the endgame bosses because I was exploring so much lol and even afterwords, there were STILL locations, weapons, spells, & items I never found. Not until NG+ at least.
I really don't mind people using guides, and you should make use of whatever tools and weapons the game gives you but I don't see why one would make a long video of their entire 'epic' journey of perseverance and growth while you literally just look up whatever is the most powerful thing on the internet, and then cheese the entire game. It's like making a video about how you became 'gangster in San Andreas' and the entire video is just you looking up cheats and using them.
Just started my journey in Elden last Friday after finally getting a new pc that could run it...game has been so much fun already and has absolutely blown me away. Coming from Destiny 2 I actually appreciate how difficult the bosses and enemies are, the challenge to overcome or know you need to power up before you return for another try is so rewarding.

Lovely video. I’ve got about 150 hours into the game now. It’s one of my favorites of all time. But I do think we could ask them for more…just a bit more direction and story for the quests would have made this game even better in my opinion.
i actually love the no direction, it forces you to learn and the satisfaction of victory is so much more when you finally win. they want you to suffer and suffer so when you finally win it feels amazing.

I was on the fence on buying this game until I saw this video and it convinced me to buy it last weekend. Going from nothing to an absolute God is an incredible journey and something that really does play out in elden ring. One of the best games I've ever played, I'm using the moonveil katana in my playthrough right now, I'm still in the early game though

Jesus, this was a hell of a video. Very well told story indeed! It's a shame I'm completely and utterly crap at the game but at least I got to see it summarised perfectly here.
I couldn’t kill maliketh for hours but after farming runes leveling up and getting the mimic tear I was able to kill him. Took me a few tries with my mimic but I got him and for some odd reason I just walked through the last 3 bosses. My build was just a straight up strength build and a maxed out Greatsword (guts greatsword). No casting spells or drinking stuff. No bleed no elemental. Just all out wack em till it dies build and I walked the last 3 bosses. Lol idk why but maliketh was the toughest boss for me in the whole game. This is my first souls game btw.
yeah there's no chance you just stumble on everything at the right time in the right order, know what to do with great runes etc. I didn't know what the fuck dragon hearts or great runes were for until mid game, wasn't til late game that i realized i needed a rune arc to activate the great rune rather than it having a passive buff like a talisman. This whole "oh i just intuitively knew how everything worked" story is bullshit.
@@ParallaxFPV A lot of stuff is incredibly hard to find out by yourself, the game is meant to be played with a guide. That Fking "erudition" puzzle comes to mind here, spent hours on that and the solution is so dumb.
Man who cares tbh it's a game meant to be enjoyed at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if you used guides or just raw dogged the game as long as you as a player enjoyed it that's all that matters innit mate?
The amount of times I've said "beating this boss is impossible" and 2 hrs later beating it is one of the best feelings

Just started my journey in Elden last Friday after finally getting a new pc that could run it...game has been so much fun already and has absolutely blown me away. Coming from Destiny 2 I actually appreciate how difficult the bosses and enemies are, the challenge to overcome or know you need to power up before you return for another try is so rewarding.
Please help me out. I need to buy new PC but I don't which is best

Lovely video. I’ve got about 150 hours into the game now. It’s one of my favorites of all time. But I do think we could ask them for more…just a bit more direction and story for the quests would have made this game even better in my opinion.
No, then it wouldn't have been a soulsborne game. The main thing in these game is that the game won't hold your hand.

i actually love the no direction, it forces you to learn and the satisfaction of victory is so much more when you finally win. they want you to suffer and suffer so when you finally win it feels amazing.

I was on the fence on buying this game until I saw this video and it convinced me to buy it last weekend. Going from nothing to an absolute God is an incredible journey and something that really does play out in elden ring. One of the best games I've ever played, I'm using the moonveil katana in my playthrough right now, I'm still in the early game though

Jesus, this was a hell of a video. Very well told story indeed! It's a shame I'm completely and utterly crap at the game but at least I got to see it summarised perfectly here.
I couldn’t kill maliketh for hours but after farming runes leveling up and getting the mimic tear I was able to kill him. Took me a few tries with my mimic but I got him and for some odd reason I just walked through the last 3 bosses. My build was just a straight up strength build and a maxed out Greatsword (guts greatsword). No casting spells or drinking stuff. No bleed no elemental. Just all out wack em till it dies build and I walked the last 3 bosses. Lol idk why but maliketh was the toughest boss for me in the whole game. This is my first souls game btw.

I like how he just knew what things did and where to go to place things, as if not having someone guide him or relying heavily on an internet guide...
yeah there's no chance you just stumble on everything at the right time in the right order, know what to do with great runes etc. I didn't know what the fuck dragon hearts or great runes were for until mid game, wasn't til late game that i realized i needed a rune arc to activate the great rune rather than it having a passive buff like a talisman. This whole "oh i just intuitively knew how everything worked" story is bullshit.
@@ParallaxFPV A lot of stuff is incredibly hard to find out by yourself, the game is meant to be played with a guide. That Fking "erudition" puzzle comes to mind here, spent hours on that and the solution is so dumb.
Man who cares tbh it's a game meant to be enjoyed at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if you used guides or just raw dogged the game as long as you as a player enjoyed it that's all that matters innit mate?
