Be sure to change to "two handed" prior to mounting your horse. You will receive the two handed str bonus even though the attack animations show single handed in mounted combat.
Hey this was actually really helpful because I wasn’t sure if it worked like that. I’m a glass cannon with strength and dex so two handing has been the main focus.
Another tip that I haven't seen mentioned in a few videos that I'm sure newer players may not catch is Strength requirements. If you have a weapon that has a strength requirement of say 30, you can two-hand it at 20 strength (you only need 66% of the requirement if you two-hand it). The game gives you a message telling you that you can use it effectively two-handed but it can easily be missed if you're just spamming the confirm button. This only works with Strength, not Dexterity or any of the spell based stats.

Both Margit and the Tree Sentinel were specifically put in the early game to punish players not respecting the open world of Elden Ring and treating it as a linear game. Also as a challenge for pros. This is also why one of the hardest areas of the game (DragonBarrow and Caleid) is adjacent to the starting location. Its a way of showing the player that the game isnt going to hold your hand and its up to you to figure out how to best develop your character.
I took me a few hours (Maybe 5-8) to finally beat the tree sentinal. After that, although it took me maybe around 5-8 tries, I beat Margit. (Mostly because I decided to get the lone wolves early and got the ranged air slashing ashes of war)

This is my first souls game besides bloodborne (which I don’t count because I quit within 10 minutes because it was too hard 😂) so I had a buddy help me with the Tree Sentinel and Margitt, then he told me, “just so you know, by asking me to do that, you just made the game a lot harder for yourself” and when I asked him to elaborate, he told me I’d know soon. I in fact knew what he meant within an hour. I tried exploring as if it were a linear game, but quickly had to turn and go back before I even made it through the castle! He told me to head toward the direction of Caelid, but the way he said it sounded suspicious to me, so I did not. Im so glad I didn’t because I just reached Caelid today after a few days worth of leveling and skill and STILL had to turn my ass around 😂 that place is a hellscape for sure 😫

I spent the first hour of the game just fighting the Sentinel. Killing him was amazing, just to be greeted with an awesome weapon my character couldn't even hold yet.
I was determined to beat that Golden Knight at the beginning. Died to him about 150 times (not an exaggeration) before finally ending his existence. It was glorious.

actually i went thru that chest by choice, but first time the dust came to my face, i accidentally pulled shield out to block, and the teleport didnt affect me, idk if it was a bug tho
Yeah idk what the devs were thinking because after grinding my way out of caelid I was way overleved for the actual area i was supposed to be and it had a snoball effect that kinda half ruined the game for me. The enemies were either beat yourself over the head with a stick hard or complete baby mode easy. I actually missed so many cool boss fights because i ended up killing them in 3 seconds and really regretting how easy it was to skip over vast amounts of content on accident because going back to do it later ruins it after leveling honestly.
One great tip is that when mounted on your horse, you can attack to the right with R1 and R2 and to the left with L1 and L2. Makes horse combat much easier knowing you can attack on either side.
Another great tip is if your constantly running around with 3 summons all spamming late game boss weapon arts, don’t. Your ruining the game. Especially for players new to this, I’ve talked to 3 different friends who bought this game and won’t pick it up again
On the Spirit Ashes: I'm a veteran Souls player and thought I would not use them, I started Elden Ring 2handing a Greatsword in Light armor. 55hrs in and Jake is 100% correct, the game EXPECTS you to use Spirit Summons in many different instances. the biggest tip i can give to a new player is: DON'T BE GREEDY if a boss gave you an opnening to attack, attack once or twice, don't try to full combo them every opening because you will be punished. also, another really important tip: DON'T BE AFRAID if a boss is huge, then thats fine, come close to them, hug their feet and start attacking. If you create distance on big enemies your are giving them the chance to hit you while you can't hit them. They have more range, so you gotta play it close to them. There's a saying in souls games that's "the difficulty of a boss is inversely proportional to their size", you should only fear enemies that are your size or slightly bigger, not the opposite.
It's actually smarter to rush through an area and get to the next site of grace and activate it. Fighting new enemies that you are unfamiliar with and that may be too powerful for your level without having a close site of grace nearby isn't a good idea. Then you can go right back and explore more thoroughly and not have to worry about respawning too far away if (when) you die. This is my modus operandi with every soulsborne game.
True, but only if you have no runes to lose. Otherwise, you can die in some inconvenient spot and not be able to get them back. It happened a few times to me.
One thing is great about soulslike, the game is usually helping you learn how to ease things up without holding your hand on the way, and that modus operandi is naturally developed throughout the gameplay.
@@HSG4meR Yes, everything about these games, and especially ER is tailored for an unparalleled experience where you can go at your own pace. I've been having a tough week in the real world so playing Eldon Ring has been a great distraction. I'm a first timer to this type of game so having a tough time but having fun learning.
I've played a few Dark Souls and Dark Soul like games and this is probably the funniest so far. It's still a crazy ride, but I love that I can just go do something else if I find a boss to hard at the level I'm at and then come back later when I've leveled up to fight him again.
2 Handing a single weapon is good, to a point. At early levels you're pressed for equip space so poise and weight have to be used more sparingly. 2 handing will allow you to not flinch as often and do a decent amount more damage with every attack. That however does not mean that 2 handing is a good damage tactic in the mid to late game. If you're a melee build and want damage, 2 handing isn't what you want, dual weilding is. Specificlally dual weilding 2 of the same category of weapon. This will change you left light attack button, to do a different string of attacks, that include both weapons. Effectively doubling your damage, instead of the 50% given from 2 handing. Although 1 attack from a 2 handed weapon does more poise damage, an attack with a dual weild attack, with both of them landing will do alot more. This is even more extreme with jump attacks. Normally with jump attacks you have the option between a light and a strong jump attack, the strong being alot stronger and can stun enemies faster. With dual weidling you only get the option to strong attack, but with 2 weapons you deal just as much poise damage, but twice, while also doubling your damage. I've been 2 handing a collosal sword this entire game until i found out you can hold 2, and use them both together. At level 80 i was 2-4 shotting bosses, no MP required. And this got even more insane with the mimic, because the mimic will naturally prefer to use both at once, over just attack with the right hand. The only time i attack with only 1 sword now is to do the fast couch attack with the collosal sword Granted you do miss out on some poise for yourself, and more importantly you lose the option to block, but damage and stun chance you get from dual weidling is so insanely high that it doesn't make sense for any non-magic build to not have 2 weapons going at once. Atleast have the option queued up behind your sheild for when damage is a go
Idk if this is common knowledge but with the Bloodhound's Fang, it's special has another step. After pressing your special button if you wait until the end of the animation (when your character kind of kneels down) if you press your heavy attack button during that window, you'll do a second step dashing attack that deals a fair amount of damage.

A great tip for anyone struggling to fight bosses. Even if it takes 100 deaths, keep attempting to dodge the bosses attacks, learn how fast/slow the boss weapon tries to attack you and eventually you'll beat the boss. Doesn't matter how many times you die because its part of the process ❤💪
Great list! I think Number 10 is the one that stuck out the most strongly to me - whether for Elden Ring, or any other FromSoft title, you should play the game how you want in order to enjoy yourself. Especially for newer players, it's easy to get taken in by all the internet buzz about min-max builds, and seeing all the clips of FromSoft veterans or streamers perfectly i-framing their way through fights, and I think that contributes a lot to the "gamer pride" thing that keeps people from just backing down from a fight and going somewhere else in Elden Ring. Just play the game as you want in order to enjoy everything the game has to offer - overlevel, underlevel, stack vigor and poise to facetank enemies, or go light, learn the fights to a tee, and never get hit once - it's really all up to you, and you should do what you have to to enjoy this masterpiece of a game to its fullest. FromSoft games are *objectively* difficult relative to most games, so every approach is fair game.
I'm one of those people and I just can't help it. When I get games like this I want to have the best possible build for my character, so I do tons of research. I don't want to waste time sinking points into stats that don't matter, just so I can "play it how I want" and then struggle during the late game.
For people who are new to souls games in general, make sure to manage your weight and encumbrance, theres a lot of heavy weapons in this game that can tip your load weight higher and cause you to fat roll. Good luck everyone!
I would definitely say no shame in using the spirit ashes. I wouldn't even consider it calling in backup, you use your FP (which doesn't replenish without using a flask) to use a spell that summons something. Completely different from doing it co op etc. (which also should have no shame)
Getting “Margit’s Shackle” from Patches at “Murkwater Cave” for 5000 runes will help a lot in the fight against ”Margit the Fell Omen”. Also using it outside the fight has the added benefit of uncovering “illusion walls”.
When stunning enemies, in particular bosses, sometimes you can actually do significantly more damage by spaming special attacks or doing a combo string rather than going for a critical hit, this is especially true if you are dual wielding or have weapons with high bleed.
So true. I'm at level 70 and I fought my first Crucible Knight, the one in Limgrave. I kept WANTING to do him critical damage when his stance broke, but the Bloodhound fang just melted through the guys armor to the point that the critical hit didn't make sense, me hitting him made much more sense
I was quite far in this game before i figured this out. This is particularly true for enemies who have super long recoveries from staggers like the Giants. But less true for enemies who have short staggers like the ice enemies you first encounter in the Mountaintops of the Giants.
Especially if you choose warrior and wanna stick to the dual wield left bumper cheese. Helps a lot when you're against two or more shielded foot soldiers.
*Another tip:* Mind the _"Weight Limit"_ try to manage equipment so you don't go into Heavy Weight, since then you'll nerf your dodge/roll a hell'uv a lot! Movement is usually always key in defeating bosses, this like all other souls games this isn't a game that lets you tank bosses or even regular mobs by taking the hits willy nilly!
One of the best qol changes this game's added was showing your weight load - being able to quickly and easily see if i'm at med or heavy when considering new gear is so helpful, and saves having to manually test every time
Baldachins Blessing is actually a really good buff to use before bosses, people just hear less HP and assume it’s bad. Plus health means nothing if you can get your dodges down pat

Souls vet here. One thing I recommend to new players is trying your first run "blind." Don't look up questlines or guides until you fight the boss at least 1 time. A lot of the vets know half the fun is exploring, figuring out puzzles, and finding cool new things. Souls games have a lot of replay value and you're destined to find something new even with a guide!
I would do that if Elden Ring is structured like any Souls game, but the game is huge, if you fully explore and don't do any quest it will take at least 100 hours for the first playthrough, I ran NG+10 on DS3 and did every questline but I don't know if I can do NG+7 in Elden Ring cause the game is huge
Idk it depends on who’s playing, I tried what you said (before I saw your comment obviously) and I rage quit a bit, but luckily after watching some other guides, I’m actually now enjoying the game.
I'll usually watch someone else fight a boss if I've struggled with him for awhile to see if I'm missing something obvious and see if they're struggling too of if they're doing something I'm not doing inorder to beat him. Other than that I'm doing as much of a blind play as I can.
only problem with that is you may miss out on a lot. thats why for the most of the souls games ive played, ive done a "semi blind" run as my first run. i try to everything myself and only use guides if im stuck in an area or to see if i missed a boss in any area before i progress to the next. i do this because i went through bloodborne completely blind on my first playthrough and i knew something was wrong when it took me 14 hours. didnt know that the upper cathedral ward, the old abandoned workshop, iosefkas clinic, the nightmare frontier, and cainhurst existed. outside of those areas, i didnt know that the cleric beast, paarl, and moon presence existed either. i had sorta the same experience with ds1 playing through that blind (although not missing nearly as much), because of how non linear it is. was stuck in the catacombs for 5 hours. i miss way too much to play blind.
I feel like you’re just hurting yourself if you don’t use Spirit Ashes, they are extremely helpful. I would personally recommend using them on Margit if you feel underleveled because not only do they provide a little extra damage, they also provide a distraction for the boss, giving you those needed breaks to heal up or restore FP/Stamina.

It's kinda like with drinking when someone says "they had a one to many." Perhaps going somewhere underleveled and underequiped with some runes that's a alien fungus ridden hellscape with Trex dogs and dinosaur birds isn't the best idea... Fat rolling actually helped me figure out my dodge windows better and to utilize it in a way that doesn't just avoid the oncoming attack, but those after as well. That being said, don't fat roll if you don't have to lol but it did help me get a better understanding of enemy moves, when they hit and where it's safe for you to be even when it looks like it shouldn't be a safe spot.
Make sure to utilize mechanics like, jump attacks, guard contering, and switching up attacks from just the basic R1, it will stun bosses a lot more and made the margit fight much easier for me
This tip may have been mentioned before in the comments and in the video (haven't finished it yet, still watching it when typing this), but weight of armor doesn't matter on Torrent. You can equip stronger, heavier armor while riding Torrent and move at the same speed without hindering movement while fighting. Could be helpful when fighting on horseback against stronger opponents.
Something I noticed get very good in this game - USE WEAPON ARTS (or weapon skills, however it is called - thosse special moves that come with ashes of war) - they do insane damage, much more then regular strikes. FP got really important to "martial" builds! Also, try jump-attacks -> simply jump and use HEAVY attack to smash into the ground with our weapon. It does a lot of damage
best weapon for my current build that I have and can use is the Meteorite Ore Katana, which unfortunately can't change its weapon art (and lets be honest, gravity moves kind suck, especially early/mid game). Definitely need to beat Rennala and get a respec in
@@TheCokee47 But it has something Moonveil doesn’t which is good Str scaling. Two hand it at 27 Str and you can hit like it’s 40 and easily fit it into a mage build. Gravity Well is also great utility to have on the weapon alongside the other spells a mage would have. It’s a sleeper hit tbh. I’ve been using it since I found it.
Definitely want to emphasize switching up your weapons. I was struggling with one of the Night Riders, then I switched to a +7 spear I got from a joke boss/merchant guy, and I easily beat them. If your struggling try a different weapon, keep a bunch on you, its helped me a lot.
Absolutely I keep every non duplicate weapon that I get, it’s fun trying them out and seeing all the different skills on them. Some will be better for pvp as opposed to pve
Some of the underground miners have a flammable sack on their back, you hit it with the torch and they'll quickly go boom. Roll away! That and switching to a strike weapon (club/mace) are big keys to them.
The only 2 torches worth a damn are the beast torch and steel wired torch. Beast torch keeps the beasts at bay unless they have red eyes. This includes wolves, the T Rex crows, etc.
As a guy that has never played any FromSoftware games before, I am in love with this game. I’m just at level 45. But I would definitely follow the tips here. This all checks out. Just starting head south and once you are capable of beating everything south pretty easily. Then go beat the castle boss. And use the soul summons, they make monster bears much easier.
If this is your first game then you need to know this: You saw a cool rare enemy with cool looking armor? Keep grinding him and with time his entire set including weapons and shields will drop for you. Every enemy's gear is something you can get with the exception of bosses. It takes time so use the silver talon thingy to boost your drop rate chance to spare you some trouble. I mean c'mon, one needs to look badass while slaying monsters amirite?
Hidden faint mechanic on certain weapons. To use, start a charged heavy attach then press the dodge button. Also don't roll through poison or what not, just sprint. If you roll you cover yourself and will continue to take damage even after leaving the poison or what not
Nice guide, thanks! A few key lessons you could also consider: 1) Don't overload your character (max Med Load) or your rolls will be too slow in combat. Try it. Equip only what you need and consider armour decoration only. 2) Don't carry runes into a site you are not prepared to lose. Spend it first: level up, buy stuff or upgrade weapons. 3) Don't use the golden runes until you need to to afford something - this is a useful way to top up for something you need and get your runes balance low before combat. 4) Find a rune farm you can jump to for little top-ups (like Lenne's Rise ball farm) 5) Avoid night unless you need it to trigger a boos fight. Rest at Sources of Grace to wait for morning. 6) If you are unfamiliar with fighting, 1) Learn how to lock on. 2) Practise skill moves, jump/rush/roll and charged attacks, 3) find a soldier you can kite away from the rest and practise with (like at Gatefront). 7) A lot of buffs stack - so try to get your weapons, ashes, medallions, physics to buff the same thing - like a charged attack.
I love being able to explore and actually get away from most enemies when I need to, if I played it without farming I would rage quit. I’m not great at souls games (didn’t even know I was fatrolling until my friend told me) but the vastness of the world gives me less anxiety than knowing I can make it past these 3 mini bosses in a row by just running. I’m also glad I can see all the other players who died so I don’t feel like I suck at the game. Boosts morale.
Seeing bloodstains makes me feel better knowing someone died on the first step. No idea how, but there are blood spots there. Also, make sure you talk to the girl in the red cloak at the storm shack north of gate front. She gives you a jellyfish spirit, it’s very tanky and helpful against margit and godrick.
@@mushroomduck1345 One of my favorite things is to touch the bloodstains to see how others have perished. Some of them are so silly and it makes me laugh. Just edited to say I'm terrible at the game btw lol so I'm not trying to be mean by laughing at them. I'm relating lol
Honestly one of the biggest mistake that new players often make in all souls games (Not only Elden Ring) is players not leveling their health. I see a lot of people complain that they get oneshot by certain bosses but then I look at their health bars and they have little to no points invested in vigor.
@@robertjagiel8222 I usually like to have enough points to twohand my main weapon and then dump the rest into vigor until I have my desired amount (I usually run 26 vigor in the early game + Radagon's scarceal for 1000 hp.)
@@robertjagiel8222 I tend to spread it out a bit between vigor, endurance, and whatever my offense stat is, but I always make sure to have at least 5-10 more levels in vigor by the time I am ready to take on margit and start stormveil castle
Yeah you only do that if you are really good. That's how I was by the time I played through DS1 for like the 3rd/4th time. Actually did a no armor run throughout near entirety of the game. The skill translated over to ER to where I was able to level into dex/end more than completely vigor for the start. Minimal difficulty, died a few times but nothing that made me aggravated.
About the Baldachin's blessing, it's not really a bad thing so much as it's kind of a fair trade. Early game there is very little to no good armors that have a high poise value and the armors that are good are either far out of the way or really only available mid to late game. Popping the blessing boosts your poise so it makes it harder for enemies to interrupt your attacks or stagger you and as soon as you use it you get your hp back, so just use the blessing before any fights if you don't have any good armor yet and it can help out a lot, frankly it's really good early game.
I hated this game at first. I kept finding myself coming back even though I had no idea what I was doing. About 12 hours in right now, I love this game lmao
I don't know who will see this, but the poise/posture damage is so damned important. If you can, do jump attacks! If you have the time, do charged R2 attacks even more! I went from struggling with Margit to beating him with the Claymore (the Baemore) and it's amazing charged R2s. If you're reading this far, they do a massive amount of poise damage for a charged R2. Just three of them with a Heavy infused Claymore brought him down for a critical hit.
Works on R2 based ashes of war too. Forgot the name, my favorite is the one where you sheathe your sword and do an overhead blue strike, staggers a lot of shit.
I highly recommend switching the jump and interact buttons. Being able to hold down a to use any shortcuts or switch how you hold a weapon feels so much easier.
I changed it as soon as i started playing. Using Y to jump just feels way more natural to me, especially after playing so many hours of breath of the wild and using X to jump
If you go to the Third Church of Marika there is a warp that takes you to the NE part of Caelid and all the enemies there give a ton of exp. Might have to grind a on one or two at first to power up but it definitely makes leveling faster by getting there early and finding specific places. Also getting the Meteorite staff from Caelid is amazing for early game.
Gamer since 1976 - I'm blessed to be a part of the "pong" generation as well as the Elden Ring time. This is one of the best and most fun game I have played in all my years of gaming. A game that takes actually thought and skill. Love it.
Lol same. I found that two handing the broadsword and using the R2 arts (impale I think?) when there was an opening helped out a lot. It did a decent chunk of damage and left the boss open for a charged up R2 when he stumbled (couldn't figure out where his critical hit spot was). For the charging attack where he runs toward you and sweeps with the halberd, just a simple roll backward will make him miss and put you in a position to punish him for it. Hope this helps!
Tell her to cheese that guy. I beat him first time I saw him as a wretch with a club. I just waited for him to use ONE attack; the Charge(running) attack swing. Roll to the right with the Boss. Hit him 2 times. Avoid till he uses charge(running) attack. Repeat.
This is very helpful for me. I've never played a Dark Souls game and wanted to get some play time in with this because of the open world yet still experience what Dark Sould players go through. I'm having a blast with it so far!
Great video for the most part, I do think you probably should of mentioned what you actually get in return for hugging Fia. Its not just a slight health de-buff like a curse, you gain Poise, which for Boss fights will keep you from being completely staggered when you get hit.
Caelid is a good place to start with as long as you are a sourcer and are careful of enemies. There is a very overpowered staff called the “meteorite staff” and a spell which fires powerful rocks at an enemy. You can easily get there on horseback. This staff will last you from early to mid game through elden ring. You will outgrow this staff as you get new spells and the staff from Renella but you will not have to worry about that for some time.
Fantastic vid! Souls Vet here; I went East after a ..certain reccurring character from Demon Souls.. "fooled" me and I had one hell of a time lol. If you manage to get through a bit of it, you'll get a really powerful summons that practically solo'd the first boss for me. Fuck those snipers. Also, in regard to exploring (within the first castle in particular), look for certain spots you may be able to jump down to..soOo many secwets!
I never skip enemies, especially in dungeons or big dense areas. I like to fight them once, and then if I die, I'll run pass to resume where I died and grab my runes in the process
Tree sentinel is designed to teach the player to back off and try going somewhere else when needed. Think a lot of people new to these types of games though just hear "oh it's very hard," and then don't figure this out.
People really having a hard time figuring out they don't have to fight a random enemy in the middle of an open field where you can easily run away in ANY direction?
4 biggest mistakes you can make: 1. Not putting your points on Strength 2. Not putting your points on Vigor 3. Not putting your points on Endurance 4. Putting your points on something else than these
I recommend newer players travel south to the weeping peninsula before doing anything even related to the castle lmao. And other big tip for veterans: switch your interact button and jump button. You’ll see that it helps your your muscle memory a lot(A for interact, Y for jump)
yeah but i cant seem to beat radahn no matter how many times or how many guides i watch and even if i level up i just cant get to his second stage, i got there once but then die immediately because of his meteor strike. This guy is no joke he is the hardest boss ive fought.
@@nehorai9884 not sure if you're still on him, but I just ran around on the horse summoning the heros mostly. Would get a quick cheap shot in once in a while if he was busy with the helpers. It took about 30 tries, but finally got him.
There's a stonesword key in Caelid on the giant tower you can parkour too, also it's good to just hit torches for later. Exploring is the best bit in this game.
People have to keep in mind that a lot of these bosses were made with two people fighting it in mind using the coop feature. Summoning spirits is fromsofts way of easing that for solo players
When bosses fight like they have infinite stamina, I don't care what anybody say, spirit ashes can make a helleva difference drawing bosses away to allow you to recover health or stamina.
One tid bit of advice I received that greatly changed my Dark souls experience back in the day: Don't be afraid to dodge INTO attacks, invincibility frames are real. And I don't know for sure but it feels like ER's i-frames are massive
they seem that way.. until you find a zombie/skeletal fiend that lunges at you and pulls you out of a tumble to gnaw at your shoulder. happened to me in in the 'impaler's catacombs"
Thanks guys! I've rarely used the Hellhound's Blade (my main weapon from a good few hours) two-handed as I was always afraid of loosing the possibility to block with no visible benefit - I'll try my best now that I've gotten those tips from you! All of them (maybe except the 1st one) were new to me and I'm 50h into the game 🤣 Thanks a ton
About the blessing, the buff to poise it gives can actually be nice in pvp if you use super heavy weapons like great swords or colossal swords. If you can spare the health (I think it only drops your hp by 40) consider keeping it around to use if you’re getting knocked out if hits too often
the blessing is an item, you are not "getting rid of it" you are using it, it boosts poise, i didn't know it lowered your health while you carried it, but it is an item you can use.
Putting a boss right outside the starting area was *specifically* to mess with the soulsborne vets and nobody can convince me otherwise. 🤣 Seriously, if it sucks hit da bricks. Half the fun of the game is the exploration and experiencing the world. It's absolutely gorgeous and mysterious and traversing it is half the joy of playing.
when it comes to conversations with npcs the best thing you can do is exhaust their dialogue until they start repeating themselves that means you have all the relevant info from that encounter then rest and try again sometimes its something new if you feel stuck try talking to someone else that is involved sometimes its pretty forward but other times you gotta bounce around a bit

Now that is a great tip, thanks for that!
@@justinbenford9363 Been 2-handing the Tree Sentinels' weapon a lot using this technique, it also works when you mount up, even if the animation only shows you using 1-hand anyway
Two handing takes more Stamina to swing. It's honestly not worth it. I can get 5 swings one handed out of my colossal sword vs two handed
@@bombomos it increases your strength by 50% therefore increasing damage and posture damage... I'm 2 handing my one 90% of the time... Higher poise/tougher enemies aren't going to let you swing 5 times. Not even close..
@@Doomscrollin Ditto, I 1-shot most regulars even sweeping hits take out small groups, and I do a lot of damage each time I hit bigger guys, I usually break their poise before they have a change to fight back, then just finish them off.

"Some of the bosses already don't play fair, so go ahead and beat them at their own game a little bit." Best way I've ever heard this described!
the biggest tip i can give to a new player is: DON'T BE GREEDY
if a boss gave you an opnening to attack, attack once or twice, don't try to full combo them every opening because you will be punished.
also, another really important tip: DON'T BE AFRAID
if a boss is huge, then thats fine, come close to them, hug their feet and start attacking. If you create distance on big enemies your are giving them the chance to hit you while you can't hit them. They have more range, so you gotta play it close to them.
There's a saying in souls games that's "the difficulty of a boss is inversely proportional to their size", you should only fear enemies that are your size or slightly bigger, not the opposite.
i don't think that's really a tip, it's the kind of thing that you should find out on your own

This is great advice and it's more important in ER than any Fromsoft game yet
True, but only if you have no runes to lose. Otherwise, you can die in some inconvenient spot and not be able to get them back. It happened a few times to me.
One thing is great about soulslike, the game is usually helping you learn how to ease things up without holding your hand on the way, and that modus operandi is naturally developed throughout the gameplay.
@@HSG4meR Yes, everything about these games, and especially ER is tailored for an unparalleled experience where you can go at your own pace.
The only time i attack with only 1 sword now is to do the fast couch attack with the collosal sword
Granted you do miss out on some poise for yourself, and more importantly you lose the option to block, but damage and stun chance you get from dual weidling is so insanely high that it doesn't make sense for any non-magic build to not have 2 weapons going at once. Atleast have the option queued up behind your sheild for when damage is a go

Baldachain's blessing increases your poise stat, so it's a really good consumable item for characters with low poise. Also you need to consume/use the blessing to start its effects. After the status effects ends, your health should come back to normal.
Wait so the health debuff doesn't occur until you use it and goes back to normal after? In the video they make it seem like just holding it in inventory drops your health.
@@Palaecro Having it in your inventory decreases your health. Consuming it spends FP to boost your poise, and returns your health to normal. It’s great to use in certain situations, but this video doesn’t point that out.

The jumping attack is underrated, it is really helpful against alot of enemies

This is the way.
only problem with that is you may miss out on a lot. thats why for the most of the souls games ive played, ive done a "semi blind" run as my first run. i try to everything myself and only use guides if im stuck in an area or to see if i missed a boss in any area before i progress to the next.
i do this because i went through bloodborne completely blind on my first playthrough and i knew something was wrong when it took me 14 hours. didnt know that the upper cathedral ward, the old abandoned workshop, iosefkas clinic, the nightmare frontier, and cainhurst existed. outside of those areas, i didnt know that the cleric beast, paarl, and moon presence existed either.
i had sorta the same experience with ds1 playing through that blind (although not missing nearly as much), because of how non linear it is. was stuck in the catacombs for 5 hours. i miss way too much to play blind.
I feel like you’re just hurting yourself if you don’t use Spirit Ashes, they are extremely helpful. When i saw the name, i was like so the time has come to face the interdimensional menace.
I like to think of using Spirit Ashes and NPC summons as "Normal difficulty". Not using them can be "Hard difficulty".
Using a torch as a weapon is incredibly effective against monsters weak to fire, like those creeping flesh bags found on the beach and river gorge.

Nice guide, thanks!
A few key lessons you could also consider:
1) Don't overload your character (max Med Load) or your rolls will be too slow in combat.
4) Find a rune farm you can jump to for little top-ups (like Lenne's Rise ball farm)
5) Avoid night unless you need it to trigger a boos fight.

Congrats you have being selected among out shortlisted winner's Contact the number above 🎊🎉🎊👆👆👆👆...
4 biggest mistakes you can make:
1. Not putting your points on Strength
2. Not putting your points on Vigor
3. Not putting your points on Endurance
4. Putting your points on something else than these
I recommend newer players travel south to the weeping peninsula before doing anything even related to the castle lmao.
And other big tip for veterans: switch your interact button and jump button. You’ll see that it helps your your muscle memory a lot(A for interact, Y for jump)
First thing i did was switch jump and action. Pro tip for sure
Regarding the spirit ashes, if you've beat Redahn then I recommend anyone to get the mimic tear spirit ash, it's op since it mimics your character.
I fought the mimic boss naked and had a bare knuckle fight with them
@@yaboithatboi4428 You didn't need to - you can come in nude and then quickly equip all your gear and clap yourself lol
Mimic Tear ashes are a meme they're so good/busted
yeah but i cant seem to beat radahn no matter how many times or how many guides i watch and even if i level up i just cant get to his second stage, i got there once but then die immediately because of his meteor strike.
For the longest tome ive been wondering how to use the ashes.. this video is TWO years old.. thank you
In reference to the first advice. That tree sentinel was east once when you poison him with the rotted dog summon 💯.
Or come back once you get Torrent. I demolished him once I fought him on horseback.
Absolutely loving this game! Thanks for all the coverage.
People have to keep in mind that a lot of these bosses were made with two people fighting it in mind using the coop feature. Summoning spirits is fromsofts way of easing that for solo players
Biggest Tip is Hold 'Dodge' to sprint ... the amount of people i know who never knew you could sprint is insane.
When bosses fight like they have infinite stamina, I don't care what anybody say, spirit ashes can make a helleva difference drawing bosses away to allow you to recover health or stamina.
Exactly this annoys me bosses have infinite stamina and magic and can spam attacks and spells constantly and we can't do that
@@RadiantNova159 just dodge their attacks eventually you’ll get and opening to do damage. Then just rinse and repeat
Did this to beat Magma Wyrm Makar and several dungeon bosses, saved a lot of time lol
Baldachin Blessing isnt a mistake, use it during a boss fight to raise your poise
Seriously, if it sucks hit da bricks.
