Yes buddy Awesome series,Im from Namibia just got my Courier last week, just a shell basically no engine and transmission. Cant wait to get started will be my first project.
Love the truck it’s looking very sharp,👌👌 As for adjusting the front torsion bars it’s WAY better to re-index them as opposed to just winding them down, if you dot punch or paint mark the bars where they go into the splined cups on the front, release the tension, then remove the bars from the splines, move them round two or three splines, depending on how low you go. then re tension the bars, This way you end up with the bars at normal tension( i.e way better ride quality) you are just moving the suspension arm in relation to the torsion bar, If you just wind the bars down you are releasing the tension in the bar and thus you will get a crappy ride quality 😉
@@Horus_Works No worries, and it’s all totally reversible if you decide to revert back to stock height again, done this to my Courier and my Hilux too, I originally used 4” blocks on the rear leafs, but kept grounding out the u bolts on bumps, so in the end I did a leaf flip, ( flipped central leaf in the pack) and 2” blocks which gave the same ride height, but without the u bolts being so near the ground.😉
Mate here in south africa 🇿🇦🇿🇦that leaf pack looks just about standard as we have them on our LWB double cab...👍👍👍on another note the reason why the location pin or bolt (if you wants to call it that) is sleeved is to avoid wear and tear on its shaft...chances are that full threaded bolt may wear its self and become weaker...ask me how we know 🙄🙄🙄 but lets see how it works out....you tutorial is made so easy...Good on you mate👍👍👍
My 84 Nissan Datsun has been lowered and I honestly like the way it sits. For me it's at the correct ride height. I definitely want to get a different set of wheels for my truck.
Very nice. I have a 1988 B2200 extra cab. I’m in the process of lowering it. What size and type of bolts did you use to hold the leaf springs? Thank you
Hali.
That looks way better being more down.. Never seen lower blocks so big before lol. Was wondering if it's riding the bump stops , if you cut them down the back might sink more? My courier 4x4 has small bump stops, maybe for the extra travel so if you're at a wrecker check them out. 👍
If you do a flip on the front it will lower it not raise it. It's riding on the bump stops that's why it's a ruff ride. It actually sits a little bit lower so just cut the bump stops and then look at where it sits before doing anything else suspension wise to it.
Only if you want a softer ride. Mine were heavy duty 1 tonne leafs that were too harsh when the truck was empty - which is most of the time now seeing how it's just a hobby truck these days :)
Yes..had it on my 1991 Nis hardbody but mine wasn’t aluminum it was heavier more like steel my 4” block I got out from a old 4x4 lifted truck , me not rich and still in HS I made do and if it fits and works 🙌🏽 I was kool with it 😎
Front yes back no, when adding blocks in the rear you're spreading the shock mounts location further apart, so when it's lowered it makes your shocks too short, this calls for the need of a longer shock. Took me a minute for my brain to make any sense of that lol
Hey Mike, thanks for the support mate. I bought the blocks off eBay. Make sure you get high-tensile nuts and bolts with yours, especially if you go for an aggressive drop like I did. Here is a link to the ones I bought - I hope it helps: www.ebay.com.au/itm/131446507125
@@Horus_Works Yes. I mean, not saying Ive done it and gotten into a mess. I did once try to adjust while loaded and I could feel how hard it was to turn the bolt, I stopped, jacked the truck up. Wow Namibia, greetings mate, that's a rare destination! I wish you the best of luck with the Courier project - great mini trucks! 👍

Thanks for the tip Andy! I have noticed that the suspension is a lot softer now... I will attempt this for sure...

What model ford is this? Looks dope
Thanks Dylan. it's a Ford Courier from the 80s and 90s. The same truck mechanically as the Mazda B2200.
Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Looks much better at that height. Great job! Its such a transformation 😎
Thanks 😀
Very nice. I have a 1988 B2200 extra cab. I’m in the process of lowering it. What size and type of bolts did you use to hold the leaf springs?
Thank you
Thanks mate, I got the lower kit off eBay, and the bolts came with it. Not sure about sizes, but they are high tensile bolts for sure.
You could always trim down the u bolts they don't have to stay long.
I really enjoyed watching your video, very much informative, explained the process slowly and clearly. I learned a lot from it, thank you!
Awesome mate, really glad to see that. Hope you check out the other vids too, and thanks for watching 👍
@@Horus_Works yeah. I will watch over again other videos on your channel.
Hey you need to change the bump stop at the back put smaller ones
Thanks, I've cut the bump stops down since this video.
Interesting video, I don't know anything about leaf spring suspension. It does look better at the new height.
Thanks mate, a few more little adjustments and it should ride better too 🙂
Keep pimpin' ! ;-)
Great project, I envy you.
My '02 Focus's just got another two years license.
Thank you my friend 😀👍
I love it.plus l have the same car watched all you budget build video

Igen, az út most egy kicsit nehezebb, az biztos, de remélhetőleg néhány egyszerű módosítás megoldja ezt - köszönöm a támogatást!!
What size of blocks do you use?
These were 4 inch blocks.

Thanks Marty - and will do! They are 4" blocks and I'll be trimming the bump stops soon - just have to wait for Sydney to stop flooding - haha

Hey man do you know what type of bolts you got like the metric and pitch size?
Hey mate, they are M10 x 50mm bolts - make sure that what you get are high tensile 👍
Great job. Looks good. Did you ever do the ball joints? Thanks.
Thanks mate. I'm about to do a ball joints video - coming very soon...
Always more beautiful. Well done. 🔟
Them blocks are going to destroy the rear end they supposed to have a angle cut over 3 inches

Doesn't your shocks n u bolts drag?
Do drags from the shocks or u bolts whatsoever I'm happy to report 👌
The wheels need to tuck. Need some short front and rear shocks as well.

Start by replacing your rear shocks. They are absolutely toast.

@@Horus_Works cheers mate I’ll grab a set of them for sure 👍

I would suggest not adjusting torsion bars with the suspension loaded. Jack it up, adjust, lower and check. Repeat as needed.
Would you say this because of the stress on the bolt?
