I havent watched this since I was a kid. Id say overall there is some pretty good advice in this video, especially for a young kid getting into mini truckin'. Just a few things I noticed that I would recommend paying attention too for some beginners. 1. Dont weld the c notch to the top of the frame. Cut the tubing long enough that you can run it down through the top of the frame and weld it on the inside of the frame. Then box it. 2. as the truck travels up and down the rearend will move front to back changing the location of the wheel in the wheel well. Watch when they air the truck out the wheel comes forward in the wheel well of the bed. It will look centered while aired up driving, but probably look forward in the wheel well while aired out. Just be aware so you end up with it centered when you want it centered. (You can tell theirs traveled forward alot, I wonder if thats why they only showed angled shots and not a nice side view) 3. If you decide to run a crossmember between the bed mounts that has a load on it, like the upper link bars, entertain the idea of gusseting the bed mounts or bracing them to handle the stress. 4.Practice welding before hopping in. Scrap is your best friend. practice, practice, practice. 5. If you wanna see the most ridiculous mini truck, come check out the Dat-sun King Delivery rig here at PFS. 6. Pay attention in school so you have better english/ grammar then me.
I have watched that Dat-Sun King build ( and every other video you have done). Learning so I can build my 95 hardbody. Remember sitting on your ass won't finish your project.
That jeep smashing into the water at the beginning of the intro hits the nostalgia so hard. There was nothing I watched more religiously than Powerblock in the early 2000's.
thank you for putting this on TRUKS I have been watching Car Shows for years and been waiting for this Thank You Thank You Love this I have a Mazda B2000 86 I love my truck
Back in the 1990s there was a racing series ,Used to watch it at the Long Beach Grand Prix live. Mini pickups road racing, the Nissan's were the ones that usually won the races beating the Toyotas and the Mitsubishis, the Nissan's were lightweight and cornered well.
I can safely say that this show is one of the reasons I’m into the car scene been watching since a kid and everyone knew not to change the channel when I was watching this
*I had both a 1986 Nissan 720 and a 1994 Nissan Hardbody Lowrider Mini Trucks as my first cars. great times in the 80's and 90's driving down the strip in Myrtle beach SC blasting music and just enjoying life.*
One of the coolest epsiodes I haven't seen in years, also I just got done watching a Vlog from Kostum Life about their trip the Minitruckin Nationals March 2022 in North Carolina which features the baddest Slammed Dually in existence (Krew Kut).
@@markschilling8979 Nice! I've been kicking around the idea of getting another one to build it the way I wanted to when I was in high school. Bags, body drop, 350 swap, 4 link, etc. Now I just need to convince the wife to let me permanently take the 3rd garage stall.
15 degrees will give you all the locating you need and also allows to not have the upper links on top of the diff center. It will however reduce the rotation side to side motion in the housing
Does the upper bars have to extend out from the diff housing or can they meet at a center point in front and be spread on the axel? Some diff housings can't be welded on very easily.
I got a 90 haven't lowered it yet not going gonna be a 3/4 drop around 200 whp na ka24e umm stock block stock crank ported head and intake bigger valves and springs pacesetter longtube header injectors it will keep up with a coyote 6 speed to about 120
Great fab work but I think the mounts (bolts) on the top of the rear end should be parallel with the ground. The way it is now it wants to twist the top bars as it runs through its travel.

Problem that I have with this Episode is, what was the ORIGINAL Recording Date? Would be SO NICE to have an Intro stating when these "older episodes" aired on TV/Cable... Given the Vehicle and work to be done, I would "Assume" that this was recorded in about 1995-97 given the "Mini-Truck" Trend of the time. Still, a great episode and vehicle to be "modified"!
Love it but watching is kinda exciting and kinda creepy since I'm still driving my hardbody. I have to disagree though. I think that 97 was the last sold in the US although overseas they kept making it for awhile. Almost 25 years and 230k and still going strong but I may have to junk it this year because of the stupid smog laws in my state. Nevada doesn't do actual emissions testing; they only check the obd status. But, I can't seem to get past the drive cycle so this may be my last year.
That's a step notch, not a C notch. A C notch is a C shaped piece of pipe welded in the frame. A step notch looks like a step. Secondly rear facing 4 4 links are the worst except for a 2 link. No reason to point the 4 link bars to the rear.
