We own a 91 D21 4x4, standard cab with the KA. 183K and it's a phenomenal little truck. Everything we want that todays trucks no longer offer. It's a very basic and simple, reliable work truck. Has no factory AC or radio, crank windows, 4x4 with manual hubs, 5 speed and doesn't have a ton of tech gadgetry we don't want or need (like a tailgate that transforms into a desk😊). It's the best truck I've ever owned. I absolutely love it and if they still made them I would buy a new one without hesitation. Timing guides are a common problem but ours keeps a rattling on.
Just became the proud owner of my grandfathers 94 se he bought it new. 174k miles interior is amazing exterior only scratches. Been in love with her since I was 14 and he finally let me have her. Hopefully I can keep it as nice as pa has.
Problems would be the 4x2 manual rear differential failing prematurely, the speedometer gear in the transmission failing prematurely. But everything about this truck has lasted longer than any other vehicle I have had. 10/10 would reccomend for everyone
what happened to your diff? the rear wheel bearings started to make noise after i swapped to 18 inch titans i repalaced all 4 wheel bearings that was 2 years ago i heard about this problem i was wondering cus i never had any issues with it

My 93 regular cab is dropped 2" and just put a fresh coat of paint on it this last fall. Pulled out the bench seat and put in buckets, added some subs and a nice stereo. These are great trucks, runs like a champ. I've taken it half way across the country and back twice now, not a hint of a problem. Highly recommend these trucks.
my grandpa bought my 1990 brand new. I learned to drive stick on it back in 2011. Still runs great 240k miles. Headgasket went out 3 years ago. Everyone told me to sell it but i didnt listen and got the head resurfaced and a new gasket. Love this little 4 cylinder. No powersteering keeps you strong.
Mine is a 1990 Pathfinder V6 SE Sport 4X4 (based on the hardbody pickup). Has 51,00 original miles, is loaded and nearly flawless. Bought from original owner's estate. Was purchased new in AZ and spent its entire there and garaged with meticulous records. It was quite a find and really fun to drive plus its tough as nails.
I have a 96 XE with 79,400+ original miles. Bought it in 2013 with only 21,000. Just had the front end rebuilt. And she drives like a brand new truck. I will NEVER let her go.
My father owned one for 16 years, it’ s a one of the most reliable trucks. Nice video, i liked that it included so many detalis. Greetings from Argentina!
My father owned the very first model 1986,5 yellow and double cab with 2.3 diesel engine for 26 years more than 500k miles super reliable , back in jordan
I own a 1994 sev6 and I love it. To my knowledge it has every option it could possibly have had other than the bar in the bed. Power windows and AC still work great. Came from the factory with a limited slip diff and doesnt really stuggle to put out a nice fat burn out. 4x4 is a champion and I've even been hit in the side once and it left a dent in the bed that came right out. Couldnt ask for a better pickup. I want a little more power but a vg engine is tough and there is work that can make them better. Ive jumped this truck in the air mulitiple times and crashed into a number of trees but you wouldnt be able to tell. Only problem is its an interference engine and I did have a timing belt break prematurely and it munched its own valves so I bought a 60,000 mile engine from Japan and its back to being my daily driver.
Yeah there great trucks but i dont beat on mine whatsoever and i think its going to last me forever lol iam the 2nd owner of it crashed it once and the frame was not bent luckily just had to replace a number of parts front ended it into a Newer Honda Accord thought i was going to have to junk it and buy another truck but i thought repairing it was probably cheaper and this was back in 2019.
I once sold my hard body and deeply regretted it. luckily about a year later i was able to buy it back. its the type of vehicle you honestly believe can run forever. easy to work on and simple. I plan on owning it for a very long time to come.
I own a metallic grey 89 Nissan hardbody for a year now and I love her. It’s a V6. 128k original miles. With the original 2 tone rims, sunroof, power windows/locks, ac/heater. Clean blue interior. Haven’t seen a truck as clean as mine anymore
Ooo I love that color! The '95 I just bought is Magenta, not the most manly color but I like the fact that it's pretty rare and I already have a name for it: The Super Grape! 😁😁
Owned a 94 2wd base cab 4cyl manual and it was my first vehicle, loved that truck till death, bought it with the odometer not work and stuck at 207809 and I drove it for over a year till I got in the middle of a 9 car collision, spun out and totaled it but left with nothing but a scratch, now own a v6 king cab 95 manual and she’s a dream, find one? Buy it!
I’ve got a 2wd 94 it’s my first truck and I’ve already done transmission work and a bunch of repairs but it’s never failed so bad I couldn’t get it back home
@@peterraboni1197 got a 94 on the title, but it's the 95 model , i will never sell it or get rid of it!!!! I LOVE IT! I paid $500 for it a few days ago put $140 in brakes calipers and rotors and brake lines, and it's going solid again!!!!! need to change oil tomorrow, and oil filter but other than that, man hit the highway 5th gear, it floats.
My 1995 has 240.000km on it and I've been daily driving it for the last year. The most common issue on these trucks, at least from my experience and my buddies with these trucks, is a Timing Chain rattle! easy and quick to fix, since a few companies offer aftermarket tensioners that work way better. I have also had some starter motor issues and replaced it in December, but the new starter is already dying on me. I have rust issues with my truck, although not so much on the frame. My rear drum brake housings rusted out completely, and I've got a few small holes in my floor. Fender wells are a common rust area on these. As long as you are at least a little mechanically inclined, I would absolutely recommend these trucks! I haul dirt bikes and motorcycles almost daily with my truck and its always gotten me back home!
I've had 5 and loved them all. Currently building one up, just got the parts for my rear disk swap. Common problems would be the center carrier bearing and u joints being staked combo. Speedo failed early almost all the time. Shocks are garbage, and doing the thermostat is no fun. The alternator through the wheel well isn't a struggle if you know how to twist it just right. Those clacky hydraulic lifters can quiet down with some seafoam if you catch it early enough
I have a 1997 4x4 bought it in 1999 with around 10000 miles on it, I love this truck , now has just over 100000 on it. Only things I’ve had to replace on it is one headlight and an oil pressure sensor that was leaking oil. I’ve driven the truck hard and I can’t see any of these new trucks today holding up as long as these older trucks. I wouldn’t trade it for any of these new trucks of today.
Just bought a 1989 single cab short bed with 20000 original miles. Driven for only 2 years and then sat under a tree for 30. Runs great and everything works. Got it for only 2400$
1995 Nissan PU XE-V6 4x4, purchased in 2003 with 47k, now has 144k - used on weekends and vacations for camping, 4-wheeling. Has never broken down and has started every single time I turned the key. Regular maintenance has occurred on time or mileage (whichever first), using good fluids and OEM parts (until recently, as parts have started to run out at Nissan warehouses). Almost all work done to the truck has been preemptive maintenance or upgrades. Most recent project was changing the clutch due to oil intrusion from the transmission:engine backing plate -- due to the way oil pours onto the starter and onto the ledge of the oil pan, after 25 years of oil changes, oil finally got into the bell housing and onto the clutch. Without going into the exhaustive list of details of what I've done to the truck to keep it running like new, one of the key flaws in this vehicle design is the front suspension -- the single pivot, tension-rod lower control arm is an atrocity and one of the reasons this truck doesn't have much of a cult following. The next primary issue with this vehicle is the total lack of aftermarket support and parts availability. Nissan abandoned it and the aftermarket did not pick it up -- parts are very hard to find, quality is low, and any remaining better parts are often expensive. Nissan no longer sells things like exhaust gaskets, suspension bushings, clutches (Centerforce is a reasonable alternative), suspension ball joints, and a variety of other parts for this vehicle. If you're crafty and persistent, these things can be overcome with a lot of sifting and parts inspection. All that said, 25 years and the thing still starts every... single... time. Applause to Nissan for that, but they should call me if they'd like to know why their trucks don't have a following -- I've had theirs apart head-to-toe and can tell them why their designs aren't competing with Toyota, et al. Great video and thanks for the review of this truck's history and design!
6 months ago, I picked up a 96 xe 4x2 manual barn find for $400. It didn't cost too much to refurbish the truck and it has been awesome. I will leave a list of repairs: -full set of rocker arms in the head (also their shafts for good measure). -timing chain guides (truck came with brand new timing chain and sprockets already installed, not sure why guides weren't replaced) -catalytic converter and B1S2 O2 sensor -thermostat -shocks front and back -tailgate door handle and access panel -new stereo and speakers -front bumper and grill -windows tinted TODO: headliner, tow package, backup camera, black wheels with all-terrain tires that will fit a 2wd.
I have had a 97 2x4 regular cab manual XE for five years it now has 165,000 miles on it. I use it around town mostly going to the hardware store and picking up 16 foot long lumber which I put on top in the ladder rack. I absolutely adore this truck. I am a very big older man and it’s very comfortable. I had to put a new radiator in it and it cost me $46 which we easily did in my front yard. Surprisingly, the little dude is snappy as I regularly blow off F1 50s and Chevrolets are from the line and I know very much they are impressed… Other than putting front brakes on there has been almost no maintenance other than oil changes. A Neighbor had one exactly like it and blew out his engine, so I bought it and will put in a crate motor and customize the paint… Really trick it out with the roll bar look. I also thought about putting an electric motor in it. If you don’t own one of these… to be fair it is not a highway vehicle in my opinion after about 50 mph it feels like you’re going 180 mph… But for a fun little run around vehicle you cannot beat it. The only other bad side is the gas mileage which is about 16 in town and 24 on the highway.
Bought a 89 HB 4x4 new in 88 just outta highschool. My 2 favorite years were 88 and 89 with the flush headlights. Drove it everywhere, lifted and modded it and it was on 35" tires. Naps Z 4 cyl was great. Kept it for 15 yrs and only sold it because it was a single cab and I had a wife and kid, wish I still had it. Only issue I had was all the inner metal panels under the hood were only spot welded in place and would either break welds or the thin panels were breaking. I had to reweld or repair the panels a couple times. Yep, totally basic. I had no tach, no ac, no power anything & no cupholders either... Amazing how spartan they would sell trucks those days.
Hello, cool segment thanks , my 1st truck was a 79 long bed, then in 93 bought my 1 new vehicle a93 king cab white with an those blue graphics put over (160000),then in 97 bought the last of the hard body's 97 King cab coper red metallic put over (180000 ) then got a 07frontier WOW t they come a long way, put (160000 ) & in 2017 traded it for this my 17 King cab,2 months ago it passed (150000 ), I love these trucks,
I own a 93 D21 Been a fantastic little truck. Bought it with 17 K on it in 94. The timing chain rattle is fixable without taking timing chain cover off. Other than that very easy to work on. I'll keep the truck for years to come.
Still own both a 1988 regular cab v6 4x4 and a 1990 4 cylinder king cab 4x4. Bought the first for $500 and it needed a transmission so I switched it to a manual that I already had from a Pathfinder. 1990 was given to me for free as they thought the head gasket was blown. The pulled and tore the engine apart to rebuild it and bought most of the parts needed. It wasn't the head gasket, it was the front timing cover. The timing chain guides failed and they drove it till the chain wore though the front cover at the coolant passage hence the coolant in the oil. I've had it running for the last 1 1/2 years and am very happy with both trucks. Both trucks don't have allot of rust on them either where I'm at in Oregon.
In 1995 I bought a brand new regular cab two wheel drive XE because of the cancer scare I had to sell it this year I just found a 95 XE but in Black I have my first brand new truck sort of back I love my Nissan as far as problems I've never had one
I have a build date 6/86 registered as an 87 king cab 4x4 V6 5 speed , loaded, ac , power door locks, power windows power mirrors, factory sunroof, and it all still works, one of the best trucks I have owned, had it 10 + years, I'm the second owner, just need to find a factory brush gaurd
I had my 1989 SE 4X4 King Cab manual transmission for 14 years. That truck and I went a lot of places. It was very reliable. I had to replace the leaf springs in the rear since both snapped and I fought the good fight against the rust. It was undercoated yearly but still liked to rust. The fender flares were terrible for keeping moisture and dirt against the truck surface. It had the 31" tires but went to a slightly smaller tire since the truck's power was really zapped by such a big tire. The truck was a light blue color which i didn't really like a first but the grew into it in time. I had only seen one other like it in NH. I loved the sunroof the rear tip out windows and the rear slider. It let a lot of air into the truck. The truck that replaced it is a 2007 Frontier King Cab in dark blue. I can't believe it's 14 years old too but I'm not ready to let it go yet. As far as I know the Hardbody is still running about in NH. Thanks for the info on the truck! I actually have a sales brochure for the Hardbody still. It's fun to look at it. -Jon
@@nvfpv I had a regular cab Nissan truck before the king cab model. Both had the V6. The engine had the same power but the first truck had a smaller 235 I believe. The larger tire of the king cab 31's took a lot of power out of the engine just to turn over. The truck had more power with a slightly smaller tire on it. That is what I was getting at when I said zapped. Have a good one!
I have a 97 4wd and love it. The front suspension is way to soft from the factory so Kyb heavy duty shocks are nice. One day I want to convert the torsion bar front suspension to accept frontier coil overs.
I purchased my 97 Hardbody after my first deployment in 05. I still drive that truck nearly everyday. I still have the original drive train. It is unfortunately an automatic (on the floor shifter). It is the auto trans that grenades early (supposedly). I'm still driving it at about 325K and still going! I have had very few issues with my vehicle. Just the usual suspects as a vehicle ages. I have replaced the bushings and front end components, the starter, the alternator, lots of tires and a few batteries. my vehicle is not pretty, I do need to repair the interior and it needs a paint job.
I owned two a 88 2x4 4 cy 5 speed i paid a little over 7000 I drove it five years and 300000 miles I gave it to my brother and it needed a clutch. He changed the clutch only major maintenance we ever did to it he drove it ten years not sure of miles speedometer cable failed at around 350000. It’s was getting badly rusted so we attached the rear axle to a irrigation pump and used it to irrigate the farm for five more years. It tended to overheat running the pump so we took out the thermostat and recirculated by some of the pond water pumped thru the engine. That solved the overheating. We finally sold it when the transmission started growling to a fella down the road for a parts donor he needed the cab for his wreaked truck. One of the best farm trucks we ever owned. I got a 4x4 four cylinder five speed in 93 paid about 13000 and it was very good too, I burnt the transmission by jacking it up and putting huge tires on it. Trans was rebuilt at around 180000 and I traded it at about 260000. The trans problem totally my fault was the only issue I had with the 93 I didn’t get another Nissan hardbody because they had swapped to that ford ranger clone at the time I wanted to replace it. Loved them D21s wish I could buy a new one today.
Great trucks. I traded a brand new 85 Nissan D720 for a 1986.5 first year Hardbody 2wd 4cyl back in the day. Both were bullet proof trucks. 34 years later (2 years ago) I picked up a 1997 4x4 4cyl 5-speed manual single cab with 63,000 miles on her. I use it as a daily driver, but due to covid and working from home, I don't have to drive much. I don't drive it in the winter if any salt or chemicals are on the streets. I think it's got around 65,000 miles on her now. Love the truck.
I had the base 87 king cab 4x4 with the 4 banger. Only thing that was not stock was more aggressive tyres. Up at my friends fishing cabin there was no hill that thing wouldn't climb with a boat in the back if I used first gear and low range. Even worked carrying some in hind site ridiculously heavy loads of wood and rocks. Too bad rust killed it. One of the most fun vehicles I've ever owned.
I have a 1992 D21 SE king Cab 4X4. 200000 on the body and 13000 on everything else. Runs like new. No rust at all. Paint is faded. This is/was the best purchase I've ever made, besides my 2000 Lexus ES300. My truck runs like new. Couldn't ask for more 💓.
I own a 1992 Nissan hardbody d21 kingcab. My speed gauge worked every so often. I toke my gauge out and drive around for a few miles. Do you know if I can put a tool on my motor so I can know the exact miles on the truck so the cluster matches? Thank you.
@@popclutch_100 you know, I have No idea. I will find out though and get back to you. I'm not sure if an obd 1 computer is smart enough to hold such information.
I had a 1990 4x2 with the KA24E engine. A major problem for those motors is the timing chain guides break, and you'll hear a clickity clack when that happens. Other than that, I put well over 250,000 miles on it. The paint also faded easily on those trucks. Other than that, it is a really reliable truck.
I bought my Hardbody truck brand new Feb 1986 $7000 dollars best purchase ever still driving it today over 400,000 miles nothing done to motor 4 cylinder 8 plugs Naps Z ,only thing the speedometer cable broke at 400,000 mile mark haven’t bothered to replace it yet
4x4 v6 and I love it. It runs perfect in -64 degrees. Only problem with that is the buzzing from the starter and that's only because it doesn't want to start in that low of a temp. I've never had a sensor go out and with the 2 inch factory lift I have no issues with steering. Torsion bar is fine and as long as you wash the bottom, no rust. Good luck finding a non rusted one though
I have a 94 Nissan 4x4 single cab 4cylinder on 33s was sitting up for 4years in a filed changed the slave cylinder and have little to no problem dive it to school every day
10:46 Hey thats a picture I took of my 86 Hardbody frame nearly 8 years ago, interesting to see it made its way into a video about what to look out for when buying one of these trucks😂 Mine is still alive and strong after having pretty much half the rear part of the frame replaced for fresh steel.
I had a 95 xe v6 king cab 4x4 manual. I drove it 2500 miles from Washington state to Anchorage Alaska. It leaked oil which burned out a starter. My theory was oil dripped onto the starter. It also had a lifter tick and an exhaust manifold leak. The clutch slave cylinder failed twice. I had a starter, alternator and battery fail in one week. I know that sounds bad. But I loved that little rig. I'm contemplating getting another one. Which would make the third D21 I've owned.
Just get one before they really go up in $$$. Im flying to Idaho to pick up a 95' SE V6 4X4 5spd and drive back to San Diego, California. 79,000 miles on it. $7,000.. one owner old guy who had passed away.. perfect paint cause it sat in a garage.
What do you plan on putting on for the hunting truck? I just got me a 1995 but not sure where to find parts for it. I also am making it into a hunting truck
My dad bought a 1996 nissan harbody i4 5 years ago, We drive it strong at least 150 miles a day and under workload, has never let us down the odometer got stuck for 4 years at 240,000 miles now it probably would be 290,000 my dad bought it off an uncle you bought it off some gangmembers and up to this day it has needed nothing beside oil changes i just want to say if you can find a good condition truck like these even if its expensive BUY IT!! YOU WILL NEVER NEED A NEW CAR
Mine is a 2000 year model, 4 cil, base truck, single cab. It runs better than new vehicles. It gave me 3 problems during this years: First, the wooden beams that connect the frame to the box (flat bed) went bad and I ended up making a steel frame extension that gave it more rigidity and shaved weight. Second, the timing chain and chain tensors are worn out, so I need to replace them asap to get rid of the chain noise that comes when it is started. Third, the steering is worn out, I was short on money, so I bought a remanufactured steering bottle, but there is nothing like getting a brand new one from nissan (they are expensive as hell). Other than that it is perfectly fine, I rather pour 5-7K to get it perfect again (timing chain, new flat bed, wheels, tires, suspension, lift, paint and some other custom work) than spending around 20k for a new one that will need a custom flat bed, frame extensions, lift and other custom things anyway.
I have a 1988 Nissan extra cab 4×4 z24 motor,I paid 3000$for in 2002 it had 102ooo miles on it. It has over 300000 on it now replaced the starter in all those years blew a had gasket getting it fixed. They are tough little Trucks.
I got a 95 4x4 v6 and it only needed a new clutch plate because it was slipping. one thing that most of these trucks have is the lifters ticking when first started but it isn't any harm.
Hopefully getting a good price on an 87’ king cab diesel manual D21. Things still in great shape. Stow sway seats brought back memories of sitting in the back of my Dads Ranger.
Just got one had a bunchhh of major issues with it having 310,000 miles I didn’t want it to die now after a new exghust system ignition timing chain set rear main seal oil pan gaskets thermostat amd thermostat housing radiator a few fuel lines a mass air flow season amd a o2 Sesor it’s running great now hoping it stays that way
My 96 hardbody has 276,000 on it and still going strong, my first hardbody was an 86 when i sold it it had 450,000 on it and as far as i know its still ru today
I use to have one, a very short time sadly. Still the one I regret the most selling, of course not helped by the reason to sell it was me listening to other people complain about how stupid it was as I had to borrow a car with more seating when I had it. How many time have I in the 10 years since needed more seating? no times, none at all... So yeah I was stupid for listening, the Nissan was not stupid.
Thanks for the video. I am looking to get a 1988 4x4 manual , with missing windshield it owes 800 to get it registered for $700 . Hopefully it works out
Got a 1991 manual 2wd KA single cab as my first vehicle, still have it and still love it. Used to have a 1995 manual 4wd VG king cab on Guam, it was a truly different vehicle all together and just an absolutely wonderful truck to own. As far as I know, it's still driving around that little island today, I was so hurt to have to let it go but it went to a good home. I would like to get another one day and restore it right. I haven't run into any reoccuring problems besides the tie rods wearing quickly due to the torsion bars being tightened to clear 31 inch 10.5 wide mud tires on the 95 and using cheap rods. The 91 is on the original engine with it's fourth or fifth timing set and third transmission rebuilt. Unknown if the rear end has been rebuilt. Currently around 280K miles on it.
1991 d21 2wd 4 cylinder regular cab with 377k miles no ac or power steering. Just passed smog first try after sitting for years. Steering is really loose...
Had an issue with my speedometer not working on my 1997 check engine light came on saying that the speed sensor was to blame, it wasn’t. It was the screws that hold the speedometer gage on the back of the instrument pane where loose Easy fix found a video on RUclips guy fixing a maxima that uses the same cluster as the hardbodies. Free fix if the speedometer works and then stops sometimes. Tap the dashboard while driving to see if the speedometer starts or stops.

😲❤👏👏👏 Sounds like a sweet little ride.

Loved the 88 & 89 year. Only 2 years that had the flush headlamps. Bought a new 89 as a kid just outta highschool and kept it 15 yrs.
Have a 94 2 wheel drive 5speed love it .
I need the seal that goes on the Bell housing on my 5 speed transmission. Please if anyone can help. It’s were the fork comes out.
I just did, same year, XE-V6. Had it almost a week, from the original owner! Factory Magenta, ordered my custom plate today, "SPR GRP"
Do you have a link for the tensioner that you got?
My 92 D21 has been bomb proof , owned it for 15 yrs now and going strong , changed my diffs & gearbox oil for the first time this last weekend
Got it for only 2400$
I just bought my 1997 in September of 2022. So far so good. It had 123,000 miles when I got it. 🤞🤞
I will leave a list of repairs:
-full set of rocker arms in the head (also their shafts for good measure).
-timing chain guides (truck came with brand new timing chain and sprockets already installed, not sure why guides weren't replaced)
-catalytic converter and B1S2 O2 sensor
-thermostat
-shocks front and back
-tailgate door handle and access panel
-new stereo and speakers
-front bumper and grill
-windows tinted
TODO:
headliner, tow package, backup camera, black wheels with all-terrain tires that will fit a 2wd.
I've got a 1970, 1980 and a 1992. Love em all.
I own a 1995 hardbody with 108k miles. 4x2, 2.4l KA24E with an original 95 topper. Thanks for the history lesson!
Back in the days Nissan built quality is way way better then they are now.
Great video. I have a 1987 d21, 4x2, se v6, 5 speed manual with 290,000 miles. My aunt bought it new back in 87.
i just bought a '97 king cab 4 wheel drive 5 speed with 73,000 miles. the thing is immaculate. I'm trying to learn about these trucks now.
How much u bought it for?
Hello, cool & congratulations, with just basic maintenance these trucks will last a long time,,
Bought a 89 HB 4x4 new in 88 just outta highschool.
That timing slap will come back if you don't order a fabricated chain tensioner.
'92 hardbody 4x4 here with 300K. Daily driver
I am a female, own a silver automatic 1993 D 21, second owner, love it, looking for another one to purchase with same features.
Damn hard to find, the complete light bar is impossible.
Me and my Uncle are fixing one of these up. Can’t wait until I’d be able to drive it!
I own a 94, SE king cab 4x4. 325k miles and still strong. They are really over built. I've had no problems beyond regular maintenance.
It's fun to look at it.

what do you mean by "zapped"?
@@nvfpv I had a regular cab Nissan truck before the king cab model. Both had the V6. The engine had the same power but the first truck had a smaller 235 I believe. The larger tire of the king cab 31's took a lot of power out of the engine just to turn over. The truck had more power with a slightly smaller tire on it. That is what I was getting at when I said zapped. Have a good one!
@@nvfpv I suspect fat fingering, he probably meant to type 'sapped'.
@@jrmason thanks dude!
I have a 1995 SE-V6 king cab 4X4 that was my great grandpas with only 55,760 miles on it.
Best truck ever... I love mine
Love the truck.
i have one with a sd25 diesel, made in the last months of 86.
they great engines i heard are you in the states?
Jealous
In Canada, the mild climate of Vancouver island is good for rust free
@@drunkedupdiver o ok are expensive?
when can i come get it lol i want another with the sd25
I have a 1989 Manual model with a 4 banger and my dad and I are gonna try to fix it up this summer
85 Nissan 720 4x4. Still running strong. Of course, always have to maintain it. Especially the gear and oil changes for longevity.
I just bought a sick slammed 87 hardbody diesel. Over 400k still running strong
@@stepheng5843 thank you so much brother!!
True. Only way it won't come back is order a fabricated chain tensioner. If not you will most likely get timing slap. After 120,000 some miles.
I have an 89 and trust me it is very good most fun I’ve ever had in any vehicle love that thing
My 95 is low miles and I love it it’s a v6 4x4
I have a 94 Nissan 4x4 single cab 4cylinder on 33s was sitting up for 4years in a filed changed the slave cylinder and have little to no problem dive it to school every day
10:46 Hey thats a picture I took of my 86 Hardbody frame nearly 8 years ago, interesting to see it made its way into a video about what to look out for when buying one of these trucks😂 Mine is still alive and strong after having pretty much half the rear part of the frame replaced for fresh steel.
My dad got this pick up in 1986. We still have it today in our front yard. People always come up to us and asks us how much would we sell it for. 🤔
Had a 97 loved it. Got a tundra now but really missing my Nissan and it’s mpg!!
I love Rin Rin my 1990 D21. I'm saving up for another.

I plan on owning another 4x4 hardbody for my hunting truck as soon as I come up with the money I had a 94 and loved it!
What do you plan on putting on for the hunting truck? I just got me a 1995 but not sure where to find parts for it. I also am making it into a hunting truck
I still drive mine. 95 great truck. 👌
It gave me 3 problems during this years:
First, the wooden beams that connect the frame to the box (flat bed) went bad and I ended up making a steel frame extension that gave it more rigidity and shaved weight.

2001 D22 KC Desert Runner auto

2003 WD22 2WD v6 5-speed
2003 R50 2WD v6 auto
2004 D22 CC LB 2WD v6 auto
They'll never make another truck like this it's just too good and reliable.
I would love a D21 with a modern interior.
I own nissan hardbody sens 1999 teo now. Many Many trucks single cabs kin 4 doors 4cyl v6 all cane love nissans pick ups. 100 💯 nissan men
I use to have one, a very short time sadly.
I love mine I've had it for 6 years now. Only problem is the ka24e eats timing chain guides often.
Have they discovered a way to prevent that? After market parts?
There is better hydraulic Tensioner the issue is there is only one so the chain is loose on start up and causes the chain rattle
Thanks for the video. I am looking to get a 1988 4x4 manual , with missing windshield it owes 800 to get it registered for $700 . Hopefully it works out
I have a 88 best vehicle I’ve ever owned
I just got one! Single cab long bed with 170k 👍
I HAVE A 1993 NISSAN D21 V6 4X4 5SP WITH 93000 ORIGINAL MILES. LOVE THE TRUCK !!!!!
Currently around 280K miles on it.
great video man!
1991 d21 2wd 4 cylinder regular cab with 377k miles no ac or power steering. Just passed smog first try after sitting for years. Steering is really loose...
86 4x4 se v6 king cab 160k orginal heater core failed and power steering leak but pretty solid
I've got a 91 v6. Replaced the speedo cable and shifter bushing but it runs real well.
