You must be using an OBD scan tool on the engine controls. A P0700 is a generic code caused by the Transmission Control Module requesting that the Engine Control Module turn on the MIL. You need to scan the Transmission Control Module for the actual code. You will likely need a better scan tool.
@@PhillipBailey it’s just what my turner shows me that’s it I don’t even own a scan tool. But it ended up being my shift solenoid. It’s still the oem one from when it was built and my truck was bone stock with all the emissions on it when I got it. Wasn’t deleted until I got it. Even had the same cp3 from factory on it and I had to change it out because it finally start going bad my truck has 227k miles so im not really too mad about it it’s normal once the mileage goes up
Hey Phil, where are you located?? Have water getting into my 4x4 electrical (car wash makes it go bonkers). Unplugged a couple looms to clean contacts and now it's put the truck into no start go to dealer mode. 2016 ram 1500 slt pentastar. Just wondering if you have any advice on how to get it out of the mode or if it needs reprogramming. If you're in Alberta, Canada would love to bring my truck to you. You really seem to know what you're doing
Hello and thanks for watching. I'm in Northern Ontario near Thunder Bay so that's a long service call. Did you wash the engine bay area?. Or is this an automatic car wash you drive through?. Either way you could try looking under the TIPM for signs of water or if the cover is not on correctly it could let water into the fuse box area which is the TIPM. This will cause all kinds of craziness. Try blow it out with compressed air. There really isn't anything that needs reprogramming possibly just disconnecting the battery and doing a network code clear afterwards will help. Just depends where the moisture is getting to... good luck.
@@PhillipBailey Yeah that might be a bit out of my budget to bed the truck that far haha I unplugged the main loom to clean up the connections and it threw a bunch of permanent codes at me that I can't clear with my obd device. Can't seem to figure out how to put the truck into a check mode. Guessing it has to go see a diagnostic scanner for a reset. Unfortunately the thing won't turn on since it's in a lockout mode. (I miss my old dodge, no worrying about computers.) Appreciate your help big time! Looking forward to more videos, learning a lot from your channel
I have a 2006 Dodge Dakota with the 45rfe transmission. The truck will shift into 1st and 2nd gear, but not into 3rd gear. I have trouble codes P0733, P0934,and P1790. I replaced the line pressure sensor. Any suggestions?
733 and 1790 are usually caused by internal transmission problems. If likely requires rebuilt. 943 is related to low line pressure. If the fluid level is in range and you have changed the line pressure sensor then it likely has blown internal seals or bad pump.
Hey, quick question. So my truck is giving me P0882 and keeps blowing the transmission fuse and going into limp mode. Do you think it’s the shift solenoid? Problem started happening after someone put the truck in reverse while it was off to install the dash... any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.
Also the new fuse lasts about a week and then it goes. But when the new fuse is in it works normal. Now my service 4wd came on and I don’t even use it... the shop is at tested all the harnesses and everything is fine. Tpm is fine and tomorrow they plan on checking the pins.
@@jsand9726 That code could be set by a short to ground on T515 the power feed circuit to the transmission solenoid pack from the TIPM. I'd recommend to check very close the harness above the bellhousing on the driver side. There is a connector there, 14 pin. Pin 20, yellow orange wire in the connector is the circuit in question. A rubbed through wire intermittently grounding will blow the set the P0882 code. These things shake a lot and vibrate harnesses. Sometimes if there has been work done on the engine or transmission the harness may not get placed back into its retainer clips. Good luck as it's nasty to see up there.
Hey bud when you say “jump” the ground and the signal wire are you just using volt meter with black in ground and red in the signal and reading it that way or actually connecting the 2 and grounding wire?
my 08 had engine issues, truck sat for over a year while awaiting repairs. prior to repairs, i had zero issues with my trans. put the truck back together and it started up, no issues, went to test drive it and it shifts into reverse and drive but will not shift into gears above first? 85,xxx miles on it, i have never changed the fluid, dropped the trans pan and took out the solenoid to test it, tested it with the 12v battery and only one was clicking, could this be the issue, bad solenoid? is there another test i can do? help. miss my truck. thanks
Did you scan it for codes prior to taking the solenoids out? What repairs were done to the engine? Is it possible something was left off? Connector or ground? If the solenoid does not click with power and ground applied then it's bad. I guess you will have to put it back together and see what happens. If it still doesn't work scan for codes.
Hello I have a 09 dodge 1500 with the 5.7 I am getting a trouble code P0987 I changed the pressure sensor and fluid and filters but it still sets my engine light have any suggesting's
That code is related to the 4C pressure switch not changing state when the solenoid is sending pressure to a clutch pack. Which pressure sensor did you replace?
@@rickclark5924 that code is for a pressure switch not switching correctly inside the transmission not the pressure sensor on the outside. I can't remember if the switches are serviceable separate from the solenoid assembly on this. I don't think so. If it was recently rebuilt I would think it would be under warranty.
The snapon scanner just reports the code. You need a multimeter to test continuity of the wiring from the TIPM to the transmission plus a detailed wiring diagram. Testing the line pressure sensor output is possible but not convient to say the least.
Great video and diagnostic process. Thanks for sharing my friend
Thanks for watching its appreciated!

Yes short the signal to ground with a jumper should make the signal go low and set a low voltage code.
