Did it have a check ball in both the drum n piston? It was odd it didn't air check right with the drum in case but did fine outside of the case. I would replace both the case and entire drum. Or I would have had to find the exact problem.
I would have like to have seen more detail that showed why it would work fine out of the case, but not inside. Cracked case putting pressure on the internals causing a bind? If the clutch drum and piston are custom billet parts, are they by chance not a matched set, or tolerances just a bit too tight? And why did the parking gear not come off like it should have?
It's to bad you decided to throw parts at it in the video like every other shop that built it. If you did find the root cause you most definitely did not explain it or show why. You had a great video up to that point.
Thanks for this just got a 08 3500 Copart special bunch of problems and it won't go into reverse. Replacing valve body to start. Witech shows selector in reverse but actual gear is N just revs.
For 12k-15k you Can get the ATS Allison swap or for 13k you can get a stage 4 sun coast or revmax for 25k he might wanna start driving a Tesla and give up on the diesel trucks he’s not smart enough to know when he’s getting the 💩 end of the stick
@@dawsoncurtin6173 what are you talking about either one of those two what I mentioned 3 different builders also I own a 68rfe on my 2500 so I know what it cost to build them or rebuild them 25k is enough hard parts to build 3 transmissions or purchase 2 very well built transmissions. Just off the top of my head I know I can order a suncoast stage 3 rebuild kit for about 3k without converter a triple disc converter is about 1500 and the valve body is 1200 the billet input shaft is 800 so about 5k for all the hard parts to do the rebuild your self the 68rfe is a very simple transmission to work on. And as I mentioned above you can get the ats allison swap for about 12-15k depending on build level. So what two things do I not know about. What I do know is that is not a 25k dollar transmission if it was I’m pretty sure reverse would work and the that output shaft wouldn’t look all worn out.
@@MCKW-MTB sounds to me like you need to learn how to use a wrench and ratchet buddy and the relearn you just drive around nice and slow for about 150-200 miles if you need trans tuning an a 68rfe something is wrong because it learns as it goes.
No reason to be a douche man. You have no idea what this truck means to this man wasn't handed down? People make so many assumptions like children I'm talking to you
Like the late model vehicles they are installed in, late model transmissions are overcomplicated, overpriced, unreliable poj. I only buy and drive older cars, like from the 60s, 70s and early 80s. Way cheaper to operate.
love how in depth this was. wish you would do a full 68rfe teardown and rebuild!
Not 'like a boss'.... You are a Boss Bro!! Nice teardown!!!
12xr drum from Revmax. Tested them for them years back. 1200hp 68.
You an expert on this stuff. Great job!
U can tell when someone knows what he’s doin ..👍
$25000 🤔🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ he got bent over for the pretty red paint 🎨🤣🤣🤣
Right! The project carbon and Randy’s fully built 68’s are 14 to 16k maybe 17 at the high end
Good video bro! I love the dewalt battery on the Milwaukee impact..lol where's your shop I'm needing work on my 68 my self

Bad ass!
Well at least that Transmission is getting Miles on it by being shipped all over the Country,, Lol...
Randy's transmission by the look of the red?
wow, squeegee is a good idea that I can use
25 bands!?! Bruh… I feel bad fr for that man
Hey man where you guys located at? Need some 68rfe work done
I happened to stumble (in the "more" section/ description) "Tiger Trans."
The problem is that its been gangbang by every shop across the nation.
This cracked me up brother 😂
That big snap ring was in the middle of the opening. It's not supposed to be like that. Should not be in the opening.
I saw that too
that would def be a big problem, good catch

He already spent more money than the value of the truck
Looks like a Randy’s transmission
That guy got ripped off big time
He never did diagnose the lack of reverse!!
Who tf did he buy the trans from? The most built 68’s I’ve found were 14 to 18k after taxes
25000 is likely cumulative, the sum, of all the repairs. Customer using the number as leverage.
👍💪
How much you charge me to rebuild my 4L60
$35k
Im
Yeah please pinpoint the problem--that's the whole point of the video

I can tell by reading this that you have 0 experience with either one of those
