I know you don't post much anymore but I've been kinda binge watching you for a week now lol it helps to know how a 454RFE/68RFE is built up since I am buying a 04 1500 and imagine that I will at some point get it torn into. By that time tho, I rather upgrade it for a little more power (not supercharging, just want it stronger) and towing, more reliability basically. Btw... What's the name of the song??? Been trying to figure it out for a couple videos lol I like it
Thank you for your expertise this helped alot with understanding this transmission and its issues looking to get a dodge but now second guessing it if the 68rfe is just a bad gig altogether. In your opinion which diesel has the least prone to failure transmissions.
Awesome video brother! I rebuilt quite a few of these 68RFE transmission. Let me ask you a question. I ran into a customer's 2015 ram also using the GPZ torque kits and sometimes ALTO G3 clutches anyways, this particular transmission has been pulled out five different times. I cannot figure out what is going on but It keeps burning the overdrive clutches up instantly within 20 minutes and then throwing it in that mode. Something is keeping the overdrive clutches applied? Ive checked the valve body also putting a bonded separator plate upgraded the accumulator pistons. I have checked everything including the wiring because it had a pigtail on it. Think it may be one wire was crossed but no I couldn't find any wires that were wrong. What do you think could be causing this issue?
@@expressautotransmissiondav4207 I figured it out. It was in the valve body. I am making a video that way. Nobody goes through this problem. Somebody was in the valve body before I was 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Ok I put revmax tow/hd in my 68rfe reverse is good and solid. Put in drive takes a minute to go in drive give it throttle get codes p0732 and P0731 think it’s the pump?
Can you give me advice on mine? Can't find much information on it. 68rfe throwing a P0740 code. Goes into 6th gear from 5th if I let off the pedal but does not lock pr stay locked into 6th sometimes does but then slips back out.
Curious to know of your outcome… have a 2014 2500 with a 68rfe throwing me the same code. Have one shop so far trying to push a whole new reman trans for $7,800. 🤦🏻♂️ I tend to believe in the whole you get what you pay for ideology but there has to be another option. Truck/trans only has 95k miles.
I've seen issues with it damaging the carrier, rather than welding them I prefer to rebuild them and swedge them differently. I think it's a builder preference.
My 2011 68RFE will lock the torque converter real hard in a specific scenario. It does it when it's about to lock and locks up when i'm completely off the throttle. It does it quite hard. If i'm on the throttle any it engages pretty smoothly. Any idea why?

Thanks for the video in the different transmission.
Awesome knowledge, Question? Will the planetary gears fit in a 545 rfe case. I like the 3:23 to 1 ratio as opposed the the 3:00 to 1 ratio.

Another great video!
Great video guys. Thank you. 👍
Thank you for watching, how did you like the format of the video???

If you want to call the shop I'll gladly go help as much as I can.

Why don't you like the Sonnax drum for normal horsepower applications?
any particular reason why you dont suggest tigging the pins together on top and bottom?

How many screws is in the valve body, 50?
Definitely a bunches lol
@@expressautotransmissiondav4207 Do you rebuild front wheel drives also or just rear wheel?
I do fwd also just not as many, how did you like the video format????
@@expressautotransmissiondav4207 I liked it sir. Which I like the tear downs, info about them, and the assembly.
Yeah, all those screws in the valve body, only to be defeated by a wimpy accumulator plate. And no gasket. Engineering fail.
yes, awesome

It has a Revmax torque converter and Revmax valve body.

What would you consider high horsepower? To justify an aftermarket drum.
What fluid do you use for the 68 rfe thanks
I'm very particular to using atf+4. And I like pensoil and valvevoline
@@expressautotransmissiondav4207 ok thanks
Аж дико видеть без бороды и подстриженым👍😁
I never purchase DODGE..not that I know of..
At what power do you install the sonnax drum?
