Exhausted Bikers Needed A Ride

- We got a call from some adventure bikers that were in Kane Creek and needed help getting out. They were totally exhausted and needed help getting their bikes out to the main road. So Mike and I headed in with Trailmater, the recovery trailer and Wile E. We got them loaded up and got the bikes back to the highway. That trail is alot tougher than some people realize. Glad they made the call before one of them got hurt. Then Mike and Shawn went up onto Polar Mesa to rescue a Jeep TJ that had stop running. After some diagnosis they found a blown fuse and a rubbed wire. After a quick repair they drove it out and met the customer with it. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

Them calling for help before a disaster happened was what all people should do in a situation like this. Smart thinking folks.
Rescues are in so many ways, these guys realized they were fatigued and needed to stop, or it could have been a lot worse. Good job Mater team. 😊😊😊😊😊

@@lstruggy Live to fight another day,,,
I suspect they found themselves out of their depths because those bikes were not a good fit for those trails. Too heavy and designed for tarmac and unsealed roads. Not for the likes of Kane Creek. They both had passengers as well, and if that meant wives, who might have been persuaded against their better judgement, then I don't even want to think about the consequences if the guys had ignored their wife's demand to call Rory, and had pressed on. And if those ladies ever got to see a certain other time Rory had a close call on Kane Creek, well I don't even want to think about that... ruclips.net/video/g6Hc_dtNKR8/видео.html
Smart people for calling.
Agreed. Driving or riding tired is bad enough. Off road, one slip, one lapse in judgement and you're injured or your bike is significantly damaged. Some time to rest and hydrate, a nice ride out - ready to head to the hotel.
Bumb guys with more money worth of heavy adventure bikes than sense.
Smart people don’t drive with a heavy BMW and a Ducati Multistrada in that kind of area….. they have to pay 250 more as normal….
The older we get the more likely we are to misjudge our abilities especially in unfamiliar territory
@@gordonsullivan2694they could sit on the couch and watch RUclips like you to satisfy you instead of getting out and making adventures
Hey look! That’s me! On the R 1200 GS. Dropped that poor bike probably 20-30 times. Luckily it’s a touch bike that can handle it. Full crash bars and bark busters.
We had been on the trail for 6+ hours and ran out of water luckily we had a filter with us. But no snacks and had been riding those bikes hard too get there.
Can’t express how nice it was to be recovered with such a seamless process of just having them trailered out.
I've ridden, and I can't imagine taking those bikes on those trails for an extended amount of time. I would have been worn out after an hour. Definitely the right call though, cause when your tired and pushing yourself, is when the accidents really start happening.
Need to learn how to ride a bike and DON'T take that kind of bike in there in the first place that is not what they were made for!
Know when to hold em,, know when to fold em, I rode enduro for many yrs, once you start pushing and picking more than your riding, time to tap out and get the truck. It was a stellar effort 👍
Unless one is highly skilled, the GS and Duck are too heavy for those tracks. An average rider uses up to much energy wrestling those big bikes through such terrain. Give me a DR650 or small KTM. Butttt, you do you. 😊
Y'all made the right decision, bar none that was the right decision and solution to a bad initial decision.
Mike has the best commentary and always has something fun and informational to share. Great work, guys!
I learn much from Mike!!
What a misapplication for two heavy adventure bikes! Agree that the two riders made the correct choice calling you guys. I would even be hesitant to take my dirt bike on that trail.
Yes, thought the same - bikes too heavy and bikers perhaps unexperienced - good decision before crash happened....
That Ducati isn't even a "dirt bike". That BMW is a trail bike and those tracks are more for enduro bikes (or for a VERY skilled rider).
Besides, it is getting dark
Nothing hard at all about that trail. It's a fun, fast flowing trail that crosses the shallow creak a few times.
Yea I thought the same , wrong bikes ,I could ride it on my dirt bike but I'm very experienced rider
Kane Creek gets progressively harder not really a place for those bigger bikes.
Very impressive on two counts. 1 - those dudes made it that far back into Kane Creek on street bikes. I know they're adventure bikes that can go offroad, but those really are just glorified street bikes. 2 - You guys took a TRAILER into elephant hill, loaded it and went back out! Slickrock sorcery once again. Kudos to those riders for their bravery and for having the good sense to know when to tap out.
Yeah, I know that crushing feeling of defeat from half-day mountainbike tours on my own. Planning the route, trying to be efficient with your stamina, sun is going down in 2 hours (obviously forgot the lights at home) - and 1 hour from home you run out of steam. No juice left, out of food and almost out of water. Yepp, not a very pleasant feeling... 😕
So it was a smart thing for these bikers to call for help. 👍
Everyone is giving these guys crap in the comments well you're right. At least they had enough common sense to call someone once they realized that they were in trouble. I think they just bit off a little more than they could chew. At least it didn't turn into a life rescue!
Dammit man.... the guys are VERY smart to know when to call in support. Many thanks for the TrailMater Team for going in and getting our boys out on those bikes ( no way I'd 'rassle' that GS and the Ducati thru there and I'm a seasoned vet ). Well done AS USUAL gentlemen.
Better the call is 5 minutes early than 5 minutes late .
Dinosaur field trip was super cool. Thanks for bringing us along.
It's funny how it looks like the dinosaur just walked right off that cliff that wasn't there millions of years ago. 😄
@@JTube571 my thought too! Why did dinosaurs die out? Falling off a cliff!
I’m glad PETA type people weren’t around during the dinosaur 🦕 years!!
To think that when the dinosaurs walked there it was just sand and then eons later its rock!
@@judih.8754 That, and the amount of erosion required to make that big valley since the rock was formed.
Fuse....$1.29......Shaun and Mike show arriving.....Priceless...Just saying.
That off-road trailer is almost as cool as Trailmater... Two uncrashed bikes on a trailer headed off the trail.
I particularly enjoy Mike's photography and narration!
good thing you rescued them, they kinda looked in over their head out there.
Or their cookies are kicking in. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Humbled after this too…
Slick tires and big bikes, they were in were in way over their heads.
Easy to get in over your head in Moab.
That was so nice of Rory and Mike to go pickup those exhausted biker's and give them a ride back! Mike and Shawn are a great team to recover these Jeeps that wont start. Good job guys troubleshooting and fixing the Jeep to drive it out! Good video on a Tuesday afternoon!
Trying and failing is ( sometimes ) better than never trying. Kudos for knowing when to stop and call for help.
Yeah I agree, that's why they call them adventure bikes hey.
Full service! Know your limits, and don't be afraid to ask for help
Smart bikers calling for a taxi-out versus a panicked SNR call in the dark, with potential broken bones and machines and all that.
Solid every-day bravery: diving into a “problem” and being aware enough to call it quits at your limitations.
Diamond Bill Rock Pecker "Save Em"!!!😂🤣🤣😂🤣 Mike and Sean's laugher is contagious 🤣😂🤣

Trailmater is a magnificent beast.
Before the entire peanut gallery dunks on the bikers: These bikes may not be the best choice for a trail with crawling elements, yet one can do a lot with such bikes (those right here need some mods, starting with the front tires) given enough skill, strength and stamina. Look for videos what ridiculous feats expert riders get out of adventure / enduro machines.
These guys went out there to have fun, until it wasnt fun anymore and made the call. Nothing to be ashamed of, in my opinion. You learn the most from your mistakes and as long as you call it a day before it gets really bad, the only harm done will be to your wallet in exchange for a experience gained.
Well said.
Considering there was no obvious damage to either bike, I'd say they were doing damn well on the trail. But they are heavy, and the guys were smart enough to realise that struggling in those conditions when exhausted is a recipe for damage - to both man and machine.
Its the big marketing trick to 1. make people believe they can do stuff like that if the buy a big adventure bike and 2 that its going to be fun.
Even a pro that could finish the trail would have more fun on a 250 than on these things out there.
They are great machines but they have their place, and they sell a dream more than reality.
Your trailer is awesome. Not to many people are smart enough to realize they have had enough and call for assistance
Love the shot where the camera gets knocked off and lines up perfectly to see the rig go by!
Appreciate you picking up the bikers. Always enjoy the Mike and Shawn show. Good dudes.
Hey Mike. Showing us the dinosaur footprints was awesome. Thanks. If you think about it that gorge wasnt there when that dino walked thru there. How the earth has changed over millions of years is mind blowing.
Down below on the cliff face... are two Graboid tunnels !
Your “office view” is always impressive
Your channel is a hidden gem, glad I stumbled upon it!
Mike is the Best!
Vistas, scenery, flora, fauna and mechanical in-between!
Trail Mater + trailer what an amazing capable combo!
Calling for help is not a sign of weakness . It's a sign of very good common sense.
They can heal up and go forward.
No the sign of weakness was not having the brains not to take those type of bikes into that sort of terrain.
@@darrengray2309 Okay Mr. SuperBrain.
great job very entertaining lots of fun
So we wanted to say that rory and his crew r amazing ppl and they helped my son when he was in a bad spot and had no problem at all helping him out thank u guys so much for what u did
I think they made a good call. Those are really expensive bikes and they were tired and in a tough place. Good job to all.
Thanks Guys
Like the rider with Rory in Trail mater keeping his helmet on. Safety First! and Welcome to Moab. Ta Da!
Thanks, Mike, for the view shot through the canyon, beautiful
Shawn figured out the fuel pump problems quickly
Love you two together, you make everything fun. My goodness, to be able to see those views every single day is amazing. The rock pecker shirt is the one I bought and never tire of wearing it. Mike, thanks for your humor. It makes my day.
This crew putting smiles on faces wherever they go...great video
This is the best rescues. Better then picking up bits and pieces of people after crash.
"The trailer" is an amazing design, that doesn't look like it is.
Shawn's laugh is so contagious. You have to give the bikers credit realizing their limits. A lot better than destroying a bike or worse.
First! Thanks guys, you bring joy to a dull day! ❤
Those are actually a fully grown diamond bill rock peckers prints lol.
Afternoon guys! Thanks for postin', I was goin' into withdrawals for some good ol' "Utah-tube TV" so thanks! We can always count on Trail Mater.
Enjoyed both recoveries but the neatest thing was those dinosaur tracks!
Trail Mater is a beast, but Rory is like Dale Earnhardt. A wheelman. Thanks for the hard work everyone.
I like the analogy but my imagination can't go quite far enough to picture Rory and Trail Mater on the Daytona banking... but I can imagine Earnhardt taking one look at Rory pulling that trailer down that trough in the hillside and banging it off a 4 foot drop like it really ain't nothin'. Dale shakes his head and something to effect of, "Oh HELL NO!!" 😝🤣
Awesome trail diagnosis and repair by Mike and Shawn.
Way to go Shaun and Mike. Always ready to re fuse unhappy situations. 👍👍
Wow, thanks for showing the tracks. Also it's good to have folks that come get you & your rig when things go bad. Trail angels for sure.
Love this channel..your banter is always funny and the conversation doesn't seem scripted. No here's Mike with the weather.
Excellent recoverys guys....the scenery is always changing on your videos....thanks for taking us along !!
I am impressed of men that are real - able to say NO, we can not manage any longer! That is HUMAN!
Much more respect for people who know when to ask for help then those who don’t
I was going to say nice wiring job but Mike kinda one-upped me….dang!😂 I bet it’s kinda rough for those dual purpose bikes on those trails, glad they called you for assistance Rory!
Trailer needs rear steer! 😆😆🤣 Yeah, blame Mike. 😁
That wasn't the edge when the Dinosaur walked past!
Agree. The land has changed dramatically since those dinos walked through there. They didn't just run off a cliff.
Another great show. " I wonder where they were going?" Be well Thanks for sharing.
A Ducati street bike up in the rock trails! WOW!
at least the first guys recognized they have limits, they played it smart👍as for the jeep dont you hate it when you lose your entire driveability over 1 fuse
Sure love the views in a Trail Mater video. Excellent job Trail Mater team! 👍
Howdy trailmater thanks for the video
My TJ just did that same wire last week, wish I had seen this first.
Those are heavy adventure bikes, I'd need more of a trials bike for that knarly trail.
THOSE BIKES DIDN'T BELONG ON THAT TRAIL! AT LEAST THEY WERE SMART TO CALL!!
Those 2 bikers made a wise decision calling you guys to come and get them. I always like the fact that you all do some basic checking of the vehicles to see if they can be driven out instead of towed. It makes a big difference to yourselves.
Thanks for making.
I’ve been following you for about a year, maybe even a little bit more, and I’m still loving the raw material you put down thank you
Just loved the scenic tour! The recoveries were a bonus.
I can’t imagine taking an adventure bike up hamburger hill. 😮
99% of people have absolutely NO business being out there on a 500+ pound adventure bike. I hope it was an expensive lesson for them. Also glad they didn’t get hurt
Lucky to be able to call for help
Have you guys had other bikers call because they were tired?? I can see why they were tired, that is one ROUGH trail.
Nice trail repair.
REMARKABLE COUNTRY..STAY COOL..THANK YOU
LOL...Those bikes have NO BUSINESS being on that trail! WOW. Glad they called!
Thank you Rory , Mike and Sean for the adventure and seeing some very amazing scenery !
It’s one thing to know when to tap out, it’s another to know when not to start. Kane creek isn’t a trail for adventure touring bikes unless you’re world class level. They certainly weren’t dirt bikes. Glad everyone made it out safe.
I being a former adventure bike rider, I can well understand why they were done in. Mine was a KTM 950 Adventure. Those two bikes, like mine, are heavy bikes. That ride would be rough on a dirt bike. Mike and Shawn are having too much fun. Great back country diagnosis and repair.
One never knows their limits until they test the limits they found theirs and had enough sense to realize it, might be a tough ride on a dirt bike depending on the rider lots of dirt bikes doing Moab. Whole other lever but putting some the likes of Chris Birch and the KTM 1290 would be doable.
Rory you have got some mad fab skills. I am so impressed with how well that poor little recovery trailer has held up. I’ve watched you drag it through places I wouldn’t even take trail mater through. And it just keeps bouncing along. Really love watching you and the crew.
Rory, you’re not fat, your Mater’s counter weight. 😂😂
Gorgeous scenery. You guys are the best tour guide/documentary makers along with recovery.
We all can see the beautiful countryside without having to all crowd in there in person to see it.
I have seen it in person 30 years ago, and it's as beautiful as I remember it when I lived there.
Thank you for your excellent videos. They always make me feel good and happy when I watch.
Ya'll are the best! Kids and I heading out for next years offroad games and hopefully we'll get to say hello!
I'm glad they called you to pick them up. Those are hyway bike's not made for extreme offroading. You are a lifesaver Rory and deserve to a good crew to back you up. Hope to see you guys soon.
Don’t blame them for calling Rory and the team for a lift ! That’s gotta be a rough drive for the guys on motorcycles… 👏🏽 👏🏽
Well done Rory and team.
I have been riding Motorcycles for 50 years.
With respect those bikes are fine for gravel roads.
That sort of terrain requires a light powerful machine.
It's almost trials bike country.
Jeff, Sydney Australia.
I really like hearing all the stuff Mike knows about the area. Names of canyons, rock formations, and even the dino tracks are cool! I've enjoyed learning the names of all the natural features in my local area of Arizona, so it's great to hear him share all he knows about Moab.
YOU GUYS MAKE THE BEST VLOGS! Man I felt like I was there with you! Thanks so much for sharing all these trips with us! Awesome!
Good on them for calling for help. Super foolish to have that bike on that trail. Guy sounded super nervous just trying get it on trailer. Glad nobody got hurt and thank god for Rory but come on man know your role and never be ashamed to admit skill level. You can always get better.
I must say I am impressed with your trailer! It moves incredibly well in the terrain. It looks like the perfect dimensions for the terrain you use it inn.
Trail Mater is quite the thing - really capable.
Whenever you have a high altitude recovery, plus eliminating electricity problems, possibly best to call out Shawn and Mike, 😊😊😊😊.
Thanks for the sight seeing. Your country is pretty awesome
I think those silly bikers underestimated themselves and the choice of bikes for the chosen route ... smart peeps for making the call. Yet another awesome vid guys
Heavy bikes and no safety gear besides a helmet, not prepared.
Thanks for being so nice about picking these bikers up. Great job.
Those adventure bikes bit of more adventure than they and the owners were ready for.
Great video great attitude
Good on them for knowing their limit, before someone got hurt.
Mike! really appreciate you showing us around and telling us about the local area. I'm from Perth West Aus. I don't think i'll be in Moab anytime soon. What you take for granted (scenery, conditions, people, Shawns laugh) it's awesome to see the place. I wish cameras could get the perspective of distance. thanks guys.
