Rolled Toyota In Bull Canyon

- Loading up the day before heading out for the Wrecker Games and we got a call for a rolled Toyota with a cab-over camper in the bed. So we took both trucks and headed in to get them. Once we got there we set Trailmater up to right the vehicle. Luckily the camper was still in decent shape and still tied to the truck. So we flipped it all as one piece. Once on the wheels we checked the engine for oil in the cylinders. The cylinders themselves were clean, but the intake had completely filled with oil. So we took it off and drained it. Got everything cleaned up and reassembled and they were able to drive it off the trail and back home to Colorado. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

Going that extra mile to ensure it didn’t hydrolock was such a solid move. Good job fellas !
Totally agree.
Absolutely - I cringe while watching some of the other YT channels when they flip something back onto its wheels and immediately start cranking it. Yes, sometimes you get lucky, especially when it hasn't been sitting sideways or upside down for very long. But if it's been there for hours/days, just don't even think about it.
So it's not to make sure it not locked up it to make sure there's no water or oil above the piston because that will bend a rod
@@masterbates7016 that's what a hydrolock does.
I was on my way out of Gemini Bridges when I see a dust cloud behind me, I was taking my time, so I pulled to the side to let vehicles pass and it was Rory and his crew in Trailmater who we just saw at SLC Off Road Expo the weekend before, just after this recovery as I recognized the Toyota with Camper that was following them out. My daughter was pretty excited to that we got to see Trailmater in action.
Not only does he get you out but also builds you a new road! Amazing guys!
I'm always most impressed with the ease with which Rory is building trails in an instanst with whatever vehicle he is currently driving... removing dirt, shifting dirt, compacting dirt, he can do it all!
"Trailgrader"
He just repaired the damage done by the customer's vehicle, just as they should all do and most of them do.
Sorry i butted in on your little world! Please forgive me!
@@stephengirling7859 You'll never be forgiven for such offense! 😒
You went above and beyond checking that man's engine. I can imagine there are wrecker/recovery drivers that wouldn't take the time to check so the customer doesn't add insult to injury by messing up the motor. Some would get it upright collect the fee and be on their way. Thanks to all of your crew for going out of their way and being so doggone cheerful about it. The world certainly needs more MM3s in the world. Stay safe and GOD bless
AGREE 100% that Rory and his team are a class Act, and just good human beings!
At 11:10 Rory casually landscaping with Trailmater. Unreal skill. Rory is some kinda old school cool.
Trail Grader AMAZING! I'm impressed that you removed the intake to see if there was oil in there. If I rolled, I would want the wrecker person to be able to that, along with trail repairs. I'm impressed with this teams skills.
When the next driver comes to that wash the “Rory’s been here” will be evident.❤
Where there's a Rory, there's a road.
Where there wudn't one he made won!
That was me, thanks again for the recovery guys! 👊🏼
Glad you and your truck are ok!
@@kx8960 Thanks! Truck and camper came out almost unscathed.
I like the little clips at the end. They're a Trail Mater exclusive.
This truck sure picked a beautiful place to roll over and play dead.
The team performed surgery and stitched the engine back into service.
Rory did a bit of custom trail repair and they drove it on out!
Another day making lemonade with the lemons life hands you.
Everybody needs a Rory close enough to call in such a predicament. Most people not close to Moab has to be towed out, and their vehicle dropped off at a mechanic shop. With Rory you get the tow truck and mechanic in the middle of nowhere.
7:38 - I often tell my wife to 'listen to what I am thinking, not what I am saying'. Seems like Rory's team needs to start applying that to him
Shawn's doing it right by keeping all of his hoses in different area codes👍
Oh wow another great recovery by Trail Mater and his team of Mike and Shawn with Rory directing the recovery. His experience never ceases to amaze me.
I was so impressed with you and your wrecker at the games. Your machine is much more impressive in person than on screen. It is amazing the work you have put into that awesome machine. I drove all the way up from Louisiana and don't regret for a second. Ya'lls terrain and scenery are things that I will never forget.
And it is hard to impress us couyons😂
The knowledge and the knowhow is impeccable with the trailmater crew! Pulling the intake was a great idea to check for oil. Probably saved that guy a motor. Now its nicknamed the grademater. Every video I am more impressed at what you guys can do. Like Matt said trailmater has a soul! Lol
Rory will win the tow truck Olympic by a mile there's no doubt in my mind, he's got more experience and know-how than all of them put together, I have Paul coming in second, Matt third, Merlin last.✌😎
@@garynewman9976 Hope your right! Rory is just amazing and his crew don't want to forget them
Once again, come for the recovery, stay for the scenery. ❤
Well said,
I come for the scenery and stay for the recovery
This is a class act. I love the detail shot of one operation early in the video provided by the camera on a pole. As a Tacoma owner I appreciate the treatment of the accident victim here. Draining the oil from the top of the engine makes a lot of sense.
Too The REAL "Winner's Mater & Rory" Everyone knew Rory& Mater would be the Best at there Job's !! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I absolutely love the outtakes and the end of your videos. They definitely make me watch to the end, which helps the YT algorithm. Great work!!!
Your rescues are often the hardest I've seen and your idea of high tech recovery equipment is cup holders. I was going for an additional winch on the back of my truck but cup holders are much cheaper and less work. Thanks for the tip Rory.
They say you should never meet your heroes. I am sure glad I did!
I hand the opportunity to go to the Matts Offroad Recovery Wrecker game this past weekend. I was able to meet every competitor and judge. I was able to witness some amazing things and had a great time. However what impressed me most was how gracious and kind Rory and his team were. Every time Rory had a chance to thank the crowd for being there and supporting, he did. In private after it was all over and I had a chance to speak with him for just a moment, he again reiterated his appreciation for the “fans”. I was also able to talk to Shawn and Mike. Both were very kind and willing to chat and listen. They were also very appreciative of the fans. We watched Rory and the other competitors climb Triple 7s, when one competitor (no spoilers) had some mechanical issues, Rory was right there to assist. He was not there being over bearing or a know it all, he just he expertly helped. And then moved on. I love this channel because it is fun a and light hearted. But there are some real good people behind it. Thanks for your real life, Heroics Team Trail Mater
Thank you very much. Glad you got to go and had a good time... And once again, I thank you guys, cuz without you guys watching. This wouldn't work. Thank you.
Much more than towing: expert knowledge of physics and engines. Well done!
That sounds like the start of a Mike Patey video: ruclips.net/video/vg1P_9hO2fM/видео.html
The wrecker games were fun to watch but I'm ready to see y'all back to work.
Life lesson: Let simple things like shock socks on my shifters or new cup holders make me smile. Advanced mode is to share it with us like Rory did :)
The more I watch Rory… The more I like this dude…. Just a good solid human being.
*Trail Mater, Rory, Shawn and Mike. Bar none the Four Coolest Cats in the Recovery Business.*
The skill, understanding angles, intuitively knowing how to do it with experience. Nice work
Nice job at the wrecker games Rory. You can definitely tell who has had their wrecker for a while vs those whom had brand new builds.
Backwards up that hill. Yeah!
@@lucaskuczek only Trail Mater!
Rory, you have the best crew 👍 an amazing cameraman, and a Trail Shaman.
Still waiting for you to add a snorkel on Shawn's jeep so he can be overland AF
Rory,
You are the Man. Not only do you just flip him over but get him running That’s impressive!! I’m pulling for you in the Wrecker Games. I’m sure you won’t disappoint!
BTW…. I know that there are not going to be any winners or losers. Y’all are out there to have a great time with your friends.
Heck ya I luv the shock boots, but more importantly Iam thrilled with a new episode! Thank u Rory and crew!
People think you need a cylinder full of oil/fuel/water to hydro lock an engine, not true. All you need is a few CC's more than the combustion chamber volume at TDC. Lesser men would yank it upright, collect their fee, and drive away. You're a good man Rory, it's no wonder you have such loyal friends.
EXACTLY! And, actually "just enough" to hydrolock the motor is WORSE, as there will be more momentum/kinetic energy built up BEFORE the piston hits that incompressible oil.
Great camera work on the way in. Watching the suspension work is always cool
I love the "Rocinante" on the camper. The owner is either a huge fan of "The Expense" or really into Don Quixote (Rocinante is the name of Don Quixote's horse and the namesake for the hero spaceship in The Expanse)
The person I purchased the camper from named it that. I loved the name so I kept it.
Mike, Shawn, and sidekick Rory make an amazing team! Super satisfying watching you all work.
Yeah man, If your gonna dump it, that is the probably the best place/ground to do it in. Another great recovery with the intention of not causing any/minimal damage as the first priority. Sweet!
That was slick using the boom with the rear winch to control the roll back over
I like how rory FIRST makes sure the plugs are out and no fuel into the cylinder AFTER a tip over or roll over and not just try and start then take parts out.
6:04 This is why I love Mike.
Shawn got hose in different area codes! Love it.
Rory’s skill set is impeccable. He really is great at his off road recoveries, as well as a dang good human in general. Wrecker games he will dominate
I hope so.I'm waiting for Matt and Paul to post the games as it's Matt's place to post 1st as it's HIS show.Tired of hints and videos already posted by people who weren't involved. It's like waiting a year for a movie and some boob walking out talking about the ending...
and once again the crew took great care of the customer. Really ensured the vehicle wasn't damaged. once again Mike didn't drop the camera to get run over by the rear wheels. congrats all on a great job.
It's an amazing landscape. Trailmater looks like an automotive dinosaur in there - the ultimate surviver.
Rory and crew are the best…went the extra mile to insure the vehicle was ok to drive and now we know they are excavators as well…
Boy, that drive in sure showed evidence of massive diamond bill rock pecker activity in the distant past!
So wonderful to see Rory, Mike & Shawn pull together for customer satisfaction plus!! Great job. And the wrecker games were terrific!!
It was awesome meeting all of you!
And- here we have another awesome recovery! And as always, thanks for taking us along......
Pro move removing intake before starting the truck. Love these guys 😊
11:41 Wow. A recovery and a little trail repair to help the next guy out that cuts it to close to the edge, good work guys.
injector, coil... whatever. 220, 221, whatever it takes. You still rock Rory.
It was great to meet you, you're fun to listen to and the crew support is awesome 👌 . Get back to work, witch is fun. Thanks!
Conrad--Which witch is fun? :)
@@cotton-Dave The witch doctor is the most fun, but I prefer a regular one
@@onefootfighter22 Ooo eee ooo ah ah ting tang walla walla bing bang
Thanks for sharing. Every time I see holes in the rock cliffs, I laugh. There’s a new “blue diamond rock pecker” nest.
It just struck me that Rory has the same fine control over his truck that hard enduro pros have with their motorcycles. Total control and coordination over clutch, gas, brake, gearing and vehicle position.
Just another day in the Life of Rory and Trail Mater! This gives him a warm up for the Wrecker games.
I’ve never seen Rory be so hard on his rig as I did watching wrecker games footage
Thanks Rory, good work getting the rolled truck upright and a great lesson on what to do to get the engine started making the right way. You make me a more informed off-roader.
That truck rolled from its side back on to its wheels ever so gently. Definitely some experience, skills and knowhow at work there. You guys never cease to amaze me.
The professionalism of Rory and his team just a class over and above most
Rory could be a character in a Harry Potter book cause he's a freakin wizard.
He also could be a college professor cause he has the most EDUCATED left foot in the world
Rory will tip you back over, rebuild your engine and make you a new road out..now that's service!
Rory, if I ever got stuck in that area it would be you that I called. You are meticulous in all things vehicle related. By the way…Congratulations on your Wrecker Games wins. You deserved it. 🙏❤️😊
Thanks for telling me who won !!
Love it !!
@@Coolhansolo I think it was Merlin who won the top prize but if I am not mistaken Rory got 2 trophies. He is definitely the crowd favorite. 🙏🦅
Who knew those big duelies were actually multipurpose tools? Lol!
That's customer service on steroids. These guys deserve a million sub channel.
Pulling an intake on the trail... everybody else....pull the plugs and see what happens.... Rory and Co... let's pull the intake too. Just another day at work. Yeah Mike, that one little rock will get you every time.
Love being able to watch at work with the highest resolution. Lovely, and a great recovery!
You guys should have merch like a decal and shirt that(obviously) has picture of Trail Mater on it that reads "Every Dig Is Necessary."
That'd be awesome.
Work always calls when washing rigs LOL! Awesome recovery. Super impressed how little damage it caused and you were able to get it started. Them Yotas are fierce. Can't wait to see the Wrecker footage!!
ok, the "Trail Grader" was awesome!! seriously would have never thought of doing that, to that extent. that's why we watch, learn something new all the time.
Rory's skills never cease to amaze and that walking hamburger comment got me in the funny bone.
Epic recovery boys. Lol haha we can straighten you out was hilarious comment. 1st class all the way Rory and Crew
Hey Trail Mater!, at 7:35, you are right to say injector!, because the coil injects electricity to spark plugs!!😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Awesome idea using the boon to carry it so it didn’t drop! Man I’m continuously impressed with Rory’s recovery skill. And not cutting corners pulling the heads , honestly you’re the only place I’ll call when in Moab for recovery and or repair , no scamming here ! Love it
I am absolutely amazed and how 'gently' you put the Tacoma back on its feet 🤗 Shawn the Shaman.. Love It🥰 Trail service above and beyond the call of basic rescue🙂 Trail Mater becomes Trail Maker 🙂 another GREAT TEAM effort... Thanks for sharing on your day off
Pulling the intake and cleaning up before cranking the motor, that’s some good dirt-smarts right there!
Lesson #2 how to make a ramp with trail mater 😂😂 Rory you’re the best. 👍🏾👍🏾
thank you Rory aka the" King of Moab " for this video
HEY! Hello and thumbs UP!!
And my favorite offroad recovery vehicle and team does it again! You definitely saved him some money on a rebuild Rory that's for sure. I still don't know who won I'm waiting for Matt's off road recovery to drop his vids on the Wrecker games. And please don't tell me guys I'd rather wait for it to be announced. There's many of us who couldn't be there that would like to wait and find out from the vids these guys put out and not in the comments so please be mindful of that 🙏🏾 The next Wrecker games I'm flying over to be there in person I'm not missing it next time!
This episode is fantastic for the wide range of skills displayed, from the quick response to the recovery to the vehicle repair to the trail restoration. You guys do it all with a smile!
That's why when in Moab Rory is on Speed Dial.
Awesome job Fellers
Rory coming through like a champ as always.
It was so cool to see you all at the games. We love your channel!
TrailMater is an awesome machine and really should be acknowledged for its incredible build. One of the toughest and most capable recovery trucks on the trail!
That’s awesome that you guys took the time to do all that. But the quote of the day. All in different area codes. Ya ! That’s golden
Poetry in m my motion and closer with Trailgrater.
I now consider the question of "do you or don't you run over the toe" as settled. Rory has spoken.
Mike does a great job filming not only the action, but the views around Moab. Curious, what kind of watch Rory wears, you know, that survives Rory? I always broke mine until I just quit wearing one.
3:56 Mike "That's alright, we'll get you straightened out." Followed by signature Shawn laugh. 🤣
It's always great seeing you at the offroad show. Thanks for showing me how to fix my truck if I roll it over!
Made that look easy Rory, controlled rollover was “expertly” done. Good work.
Walking hamburger, you guys crack me up. Great job getting the customer back shiney side up and safely on theirway. As always love the camera angles and of course the beautiful scenery.
Congratulations on your working wrecker, Rory, and crew, Shaun and Mike.
I absolutely love watching your video's, you and you, Mike and Shawn do an excellent job!
Another thing I love about them is the scenery that you guys show us all! Thank you so much!!!
Trail grader to the rescue!!! Great job by Roy and crew.😁👍👍
damn, you'd never know that Taco was on it's side!
Rory with TrailGrader did a fine job of building an exit ramp! 💪🏼
Mikey's optimism gets me every time. I'd definitely want him around if I laid my rig on its side.
It's always amazing to see how trailmater master any kind of recovery so capable ✔️✔️✔️
It's a amazing that Rory's truck has actually turned out to be the ultimate trail rig...it's a build of simplicity yet mechanical expertise.
I Like how Thorough you are
