@@SKYCLIPPER LH crew pass by, but do not dare to ask for any service when they pass by. You won't get any. On SQ they will tend to your service request like for a drink or a snack. I have been on LH flights that the crew don't even try to speak more then a sentence during service time.
Josh, i am ex cabin crew for a long haul airline and i really do like your videos but speaking from experience, there are hundreds of passengers in economy class and it's impossible to get to know yours passengers. The work load is high and there are always some very demanding customers on flights that take up a lot of your time anyway whilst trying to work to a service plan. We used to have 15 cabin crew on a Boeing 747 aircraft with over 450 passengers on board. We never stopped.
Stopped watching his videos because a general trend started to surface: this guy just likes to complain and have the complaint as click bait right at the top of his videos. 🙄🙄🙄 Only here because an article popped up on this about a similar response on twitter explaining the obvious - flight attendants in economy are ridiculously busy.
I had a flight in Economy with Singapore Airlines in 2018. The crew was amazingly kind and attentive despite being in Economy. I was feeling sick (it was a 12 hour flight after all) and didn’t finish the meal they gave out. They noticed and asked if I wanted to eat something else. I told them I had a stomach ache and they offered me ginger ale. I felt better after a an hour or two and l they even gave me a new meal :)
Having flown on Singapore Airlines from Singapore to London, I found my first experience with Singapore Airlines and on an a380 to be the best experience I have ever had with an airline! The food, service and films were incredible! Cabin was so attentive and really kind. Really want to fly with them again soon! 😊
I don't think any airline can live up to the expectations of a 1200 dollar ticket for London to Singapore in economy. But there are plenty of people on the same flight that paid just 600 or less and got a fantastic flight. Because you paid 1200 dollars , doesn't mean that the flight in economy compare with other airlines is necessary bad. I find this review wayy to bias. For 1200 dollars you might travel in premium economy, yet you decided that economy is okay for tat price tag. Sometimes cabin crew might not been engaging because they had a strict purser on board that likes to do thing according to the book. So cabin crew also quite depending on who is controlling at the front end. Usually I like your reviews, but this was quite biased because of the amount you decided to pay for this single trip.
Just some questions - How do you measure one's level of engagement and how high a level of engagement do you expect from the crew? I hope you're not expecting them to hover around your seat and ask things about your life throughout your flight. On flights, I prefer not to be disturbed, much less be constantly engaged with the crew, which is to say that this is rather a subjective component of your review.
TOTALLY 100% AGREE!!!👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 Read my comment above - it's lengthy, but Justifies the disagreement of Josh's review for once which I've never done before tbh...
I agree with you. And I want to mention that Singapore Airlines is quite CHEAP on other routes. I always fly with them because they are (one of) the best and also that they’re the cheapest option from where I live.
For the VERY 1st time Josh I TOTALLY 100% DISAGREE WITH YOUR REVIEW... As an avid follower and fan of your review videos I must admit this time you either got it totally wrong or something went totally wrong with the chemistry between you and Singapore Crew..!!! Singapore Airlines Indeed is the Best Service Delivery Airline out there and even more so why I Disagree with your review is the fact that SIA is waayyyy high up there due to their Impeccably Service Oriented CABIN CREW TEAM...👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Now let me lay out the facts: 1. I'm an African expatriate based in Dubai itself (with no affiliations whatsoever to Singapore and live literally in the neighborhood of Emirates, Etihad and nearby Qatar..) holding both Skywards and KrisFlyer memberships... Guess which of my 2 airline accounts has higher mileage - KRISFLYER by Singapore! This is because I ONLY fly Emirates when traveling to Africa due to lack of Singapore direct flights from DXB... And when flying Westwards I fly Turkish airlines partners of SIA again avoiding Emirates, Qatar or Etihad... 2. Emirates' concept and hype was built to emulate the PAN AM era when the latter company was world leading/ applied VERY fancy aviation business approach Especially with their Flight Attendants and Service delivery... Unfortunately over time this got into the minds of Emirates Crew in a very wrong way and now it's quite easy to sense the Emirates Cabin Crew Arrogant Disposition onboard which is MOST of the time along Racial lines and their ill-informed judgement of a passenger's Social status... They are Snooty and Literally Never have time to Engage with their passengers UNLESS they can relate some kind of socially classified importance of that particular passenger.... As for Singapore Cabin Crew very simply put, they work hard to make you feel IT'S A PRIVILEGE FOR THEM TO HAVE THAT OPPORTUNITY TO BE OF SERVICE TO YOU whereas it's totally opposite for Emirates crew who think they are some kind of 5th Avenue high end mannequins and are doing you a favor just to share the same space with them in that metal tube let alone serve you with dignity and respect... 3. I had a horrible Customer Service experience with Thai airways - Star Alliance partners due to mileage issues after flying with them last summer... Finally as a Krisflyer member I involved Singapore Airlines who not only were they so Genuinely concerned about my lack of satisfaction, they remained VERY Professional, made direct Personal calls to me all the way from Singapore more than 2 occasions when I was not able to respond to their emails on time which were meant for my OWN benefit actually, lastly Singapore Managed to sort out my mileage issue from a Thai operated return flight and even awarded me a SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF EXTRA MILES AS PART OF SERVICE RECOVERY!!!!👌🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Bottom line - SINGAPORE AIRLINES IS THE BEST IN COMMERCIAL AVIATION BUSINESS ... Their Winning formula is VERY Well Thought Products, Impeccable Service Culture and above all their SINGAPORE CABIN CREW TEAM who are not just trained, but individually make it their Purpose to make each and every Passenger feel like Royalty...👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽 P.S - I Normally fly Singapore in Standard Economy or Premium Economy - Neither have I regretted paying for the Full Priced Ticket nor felt some sort of Discrimination due to my Class of travel or "perceived social class and/ or racial profiling..."
👏👏👏 well said. He hasn't got it wrong, there was nothing amiss on the chemistry with the Cabin Crew, l truly believe he was comparing it to there Business Class product and not ratimg it as an Economy class product. His expectations where askew on this one.
Sydney: Were you in my flight in December DXB-JNB and CPT-DXB and DXB-SFO? You seem to narrate the same experience as I have had in 3 out of 4 segments on Emirates this Christmas. I have filed a complaint with Emirates, but I suppose, they couldn't care. I have flown extensively on SQ, and rarely one does get some robotic crew. But never I had lack of performance in terms of service. I always got what I wanted, instantly. They are more focused on Customer service, and they have never faltered in my past 30 years of flying with them.
Agree with you totally on the arrogance of Emirates - they made me feel like I owe them a living flying with them, and when I thought it was probably a once off, it happened on every flight. Dropped them for good.
I live in Sydney and fly to and fro to London regularly . My airline of choice is Singapore Airlines having flown many of the major carriers on the route . I don’t find them more expensive and usually pay about $1400 rtn dependant on season and routing . Why did you pay $1200 ? . I’m sure you could have got the fare cheaper . As for cabin staff , I find them very engaging , in fact much more so than their Middle East airline competition , whose cabin staff always seem to have a bit of an interracial tension happening . Just saying ..
I think 1.2k for this rtn flight is normal, take it a few times for the past few years and it’s always above 1k. Transit is always cheaper so you can’t really assume the fare for Syd-Lhr = Syd-Sin + Sin-Lhr or similar to that. Other than that, I’m fully agree on all other points that you point out
wong yee xuan . But this was not a LHR- SIN- LHR flight , it was a LHR- SIN one , so it was not a return . I do agree for a return flight that would have been a normal fare , but it was not . I think that was the whole issue .He obviously paid the full single economy fare , most times passengers pay a discounted fare .
Your expectations were too high based on the money you paid, I dare say. Now mine, when it comes to the crew are kept fairly low and whether they are engaged or not would make me feel the same regarding the price I paid. They are a little higher in biz but not by much. Then, as for the entertainment selection, if they have a couple of good features in the TV & Movie selection I really want to watch, I'm happy, as I prefer to enjoy the flight experience vs. movie watching.
My recent experience with SQ was amazing from SIN-LHR. That soft touch of placing the blanket properly for you and constant drinks replenishment as well, i was on economy as well. Wasnt a full flight and almost everyone can have the entire row to themselves. Sorry that this group of crew let you down and didnt meet your expectation. But overall, after flying with couple of airlines, personal preference is still SQ even if its economy.
Fly the triple seven from Singapore in Economy and you will feel the difference! Emirates: 10 seats in a row, Qatar: 10 seats in a row, Etihad: 10 seats in a row. Singapore has still 9 seats in a row beside Eva Air on their triple seven . On a 13 hour flight I always care about my comfort and still Singapore offers the best seats combined with good service. I like your videos but today I got another opinion
When flying in economy, don't expect any business/first class treatment! Certainly not a personalized service, especially for an airline that values efficiency a lot. Try flying their first class. The crew is extremely engaging, and will gladly give you a surprise (in my case, I've received a teddy bear with my name hand-sewn, and on another flight the crew gave me a message card and couldn't be any friendlier).
I guess you can compare this flight with British airways for a direct flight, instead of a transit flight as the fare is relatively cheaper for a one stop flight. And as a Singaporean, sadly due to our background we seldom initiates a conversation unless necessary. But for the crew that I'd met on board, once you kick start a conversation they are pretty friendly to reply, especially the senior crew.
I've flown SQ on long-haul Economy class and hang out in the rear galley area for extensive periods. I've have had long conversations with the flight crew (both male & female), including cabin mgr. All were personable and none ever told me to return to my seat. I think this crew was more of an anomaly instead of the typical crew.
Have to disagree with you on this one. There was too much emphasis on the price, got to keep in mind that one way flights are more expensive, especially departing from Heathrow and the fact that this was a direct flight compared to Emirates and Qatar doesn’t help.
"100 SGD per hour not worth it, for half the price you can fly on other airlines where you get so much more" Like? The only other two airlines offering nonstop service between LHR and SIN are BA or Qantas which personally both don't seem to offer a superior product over SQ. If you want to look at airlines offering the route with a stopover, I am certain Qatar is in some ways superior and possibly cheaper but not everyone wants an 8 and then a 7-hour flight when a nonstop 12-hour flight offers unimpeded rest. The crew on your flight do surprise me, I've flown SQ 8 times the last couple years and only had a mediocre crew once but they never seemed to actively avoid conversing with passengers. All in all the crew did seem to be a letdown seeing as SQ do indeed highlight this over the competition, and yes the IFE is miles behind Emirates and not as good as Qatar's but the amenities available to economy class, the meals, and the seat do still showcase a top-notch product and if the crew had been up to SQ standards I am sure this video would have a different outcome. That being said Josh your still the most honest aviation RUclipsr out there and we're all thankful for it!
I fly regularly from Melbourne to LHR/MANC and Singapore are much better than Qatar in just about every aspect. Emirates have slightly better entertainment options. Singapore staff do keep the cabins and toilets very clean, combing them for rubbish and spills all the time which I like. Sadly this was not evident with Emirates.
Wilfred West-Worthington I don’t know how you can say Singapore is better in that route then Qatar! Either you are flying with FF bias or you had flown on a very bad day even though I am star alliance FF, I had received upgrade to QSuite business class on Qatar on Doha - Singapore because the two economy seats they assigned had faulty IFE system so they bumped me mid flight as complementary gesture! And even throughout the flight they treated me as well any business class pax!
I used to love SQ but the crew is not that warm anymore. I'm a cabin manager myself and I always interact with my passengers, take the time for a little chat and that's basically what I love about my job. Yesterday a passenger told me at disembarking: "Thank you so much for your lovely smile and warm personality, it really made my day!" Well that's what made MY day. Today I received an email from my manager with a big compliment written by that passenger stating that he always loves flying my airline and especially that flight because of the fact that I "saw" him and he felt the warming hospitality and my smile who was sincere. The only thing I did was asking him if he was enjoying his flight and if there was something I could do for him and have a really good chat with him about his family visit in The Netherlands. I was stunned... Hope to have you on board one day.
I travelled from SG-London and vice versa using economy SG Airlines before. I have to disagree with you, it was one of the nicest and comfortable flight i had experienced and worthed the dollar
You can’t judge a whole airline just because of one flight! Change the crew, change the plane or the route and you will have a completely different experience! What I always liked the most on my Singapore Airlines flights was always the crew and their personal touch and the eye for the detail!
1200 SGD is around £670, it is roughy £100-£200 more than the competition, but it's not hideously expensive compared and you get a decent allowance on baggage compared to Euopean airlines where some do not even provide it with the ticket.
I would disagree. Economy class is where you wont get business class type service. You need to understand that even if there are few passengers they have a lot of things. Have you sent to sq_social@singaporeair.com.sg ? The cabin crew for my 3 hour flight were alright. It was already night. Perhaps they knew that it was a long haul flight hence they wanted you to rest
I have to disagree with you here. It’s fair to make a review on price paid against the product (soft and hard) but for full transparency you should have included time of booking to departure, and the cost of other direct options for that same booking time frame. Considering you also use middle eastern carriers for comparison, sharing their price for the same booking period would have also been fair as part of your review.
Not forgetting he only bought one way ticket & it usually cost more than a return ticket. In addition to that, it was school holiday in Singapore between mid NOV to end DEC and people go on vacation.
I dont think he prepared the tickets beforehand. This route can get much cheaper when you planned for it. This is way too biased as i am happy with SQ so far. But this ass want to be treated as a prince in an economy. SQ dont even need his review to get good ratings.
Singapore airlines is amazing, and I've enjoyed their nasi lemak breakfast to London. The crew were great too during that flight. And I've also experienced their shortest route from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore using A350.
I was a frequent flyer on Indonesia (Jakarta) - Australia (Perth) route. I've flown with Garuda, Qantas and Singapore Airlines. From all of those airlines, I prefer Singapore Airlines the most although it's the most expensive mainly because SQ didn't do direct route. The only direct flight was with Qantas while Singapore Airlines go up to Singapore first then down to Jakarta. Garuda itself stops at Bali (Denpasar) before going to Jakarta. When booking I always ask what aircraft that would serve the flight. I always go for the A340 and avoid B777. A340 was quieter than B777,
As far as possible I will want to travel SIA for its good records in air incidents I will not expect top notch services if I am in economy. I travel in Business before they also never chat with me. Not everyone likes to be disturb.
on economy, one expects basic respect and care; the economy crew are the most overworked, particularly on a 380 flight and long haul. i guess sitting on an aisle seat, your attention was focused more on the crew. if you had pressed the call button and it took 15 minutes for the crew to respond, then that would have been cause for complaint. but on economy on such a huge aircraft and long haul, i do not expect much for the price i pay (although this was a question to me: it seems you bought your ticket rather close to the departure date).
I agree... I used to work in the airport... Often there is only about 12 cabin crews for the A380 serving all the ppl. Of course more resources went to First Class Suites and Business Class. The cabin crews in Economy Class really have many ppl to serve.
The way he says points to the believes he paid alot for his ticket and insinuates expectations for better treatment compared to "cheaper alternatives", I suppose. And when they don't talk to him as much as he would like them to, he complains that they are not as friendly as they should be given all the misconceptions that he believed. :)
I love Singapore airlines. We have only ever flown economy but have flown many different airlines and Singapore is my and my husbands favourite. The cabin crew couldn't do enough for us two thumbs up to them 👍👍
You missed his message, sister. He was insinuating that the SQ girls didn't talk to him and entertain this passenger that paid "a lot" for this "expensive" flight, that's why it was disappointing. Just watch the video again. :)
You probably booked that flight really last minute!!! I paid 1000€ for 4 flights with Singapore Airlines. FRA-SIN-DPS and back. Also i personally had bad experiences with SG crew but one time I had the best TIME EVER on the flight ! I talked to the crew for like 2 hours and at the end I met the dude who served me food at the baggage claim and we had a quick chat eventhough he was super tired from the 14 hour flight
Price obviously depends on time of booking so without knowing if this was a last minute booking or what other airline prices are SG1200 could have been good value at the time. You always generally pay more for a direct flight as well!
I've not flown with any airline other than SQ during the last 20 years. On the longest route, there are rarely any spare seats in Economy. The staff always appear to me to be flat out but always doing their best with efficiency and a smile. There are never any 'washed-out rag' crew on SQ. but there's little opportunity for 'interaction'. One learns in time to value the fleeting moments in the working lives of SQ crew when a smile, a pleasant word in passing is exchanged - especially in the rear galley in those awkward hours about 4 a.m. when every one is asleep and just a few staff remain there as alert as ever. I expect no more of SQ staff since it seems to me there is simply no time for more. Josh, I think you may be expecting a bit much. It may be possible on a half-empty flight - but so popular is SQ in my part of the world that planes are never half full. If I have any beef with the airline it's the restricted provision of Premium Economy on these long haul routes and those available are often on very awkwardly-timed flights. But I love the airline and, obviously, so too do plane loads of others. Do keep up your good work, Josh. Your programmes and your presentation are delightful.
It's been a while since I flew Economy on this exact route with SQ, I think 8 years ago, but it was brilliant. The crew were happy to talk and it was very good. Remains my favourite airline (though I don't fly much). It was a lot cheaper though.
As a parent, I agree with reviews that they are the best airline to travel economy with an infant. They really looked after us on all international flights and our baby wanted for nothing. We found them highly professional and friendly. We had also travelled with them before becoming parents. They were organised. Etihad on the other hand - don't even get me started. Had such an awful experience with them, so bad that they chose to ignore my serious complaints entirely when reported. If I had a platform like yours, I would have taken it further. Sorry you had a disappointing experience with SA. I do prefer Virgin and QANTAS myself. :)
I think it’s a completely a single flight experience , already travelled 4 times in SQ , the cabin crew were really welcoming n they serve always with a smile ... I found Singapore airlines economy to be pretty best ... the best airlines that’s y being shared with Qatar . Off late a huge complains are there for emirates economy, where the service n catering is getting criticised much ... U paid high but the only let down was cabin crew rest part of flight was absolutely nice , the seats the inflight entertainment plus the catering was perfect .. I found the review to be a little judgemental ... and the funniest fact is when u sit down n check the flights from Indian websites ... u will find London to Singapore one of the lowest price is with SQ and Qatar ... emirates show high price leave alone British airways ... I want u to give an economy review of etihad .... there are so extremes of experiences regarding etihad ....
Having flown the majority of airlines to Philippines I'll always choose Singapore airlines its hands down the best and when your flexible on your dates you can get a good price. The food is good flight staff excellent
As a British born Singaporean, my observation is that the cabin crew attitude is a cultural one. Singaporeans are brought up with the notion that you don't engage with strangers. You will rarely experience friendly banter with any customer service staff in Singapore. It doesn't enter their head to do so because of their upbringing, unlike the UK where friendly banter with service staff is a regular occurrence and part of the national psyche. It's not the crew's fault. They are not trying to be arrogant or dismissive. Overall, SIA is a world-class airline, just don't expect witty repartee with the crew members.
I guess you expected a lot more from SIA cause of their reputation but when I travelled from mumbai to singapore round trip with SIA crew were very friendly and helpful and always had happy faces and those were late night and evening flights and since it was economy you have to expect some level of friendliness and professionalism as well because they are a company at the end so my opinion is don't be over analytical.
@@msingh9634 the point he's trying to make is that he expects more engagement with the crew, whereas the crew on the SQ is robotic in a sense. So they do their job very well but that's not the only thing Josh expects from a premium airlines. Basically, it comes down to the policies SQ has in place for the crew
Josh, I am also quite surprised with your comments about the SQ crew. Having flown SQ from Australia to Europe in both economy and premium economy a number of times, I've found the crew to be engaging, friendly and of course efficient especially in premium economy where the designated FA came to us before take off, introduced herself and proceeded to talk to us about the cabin hardware (seat, etc) and asked what pre-departure drink we would like. She came back to us during the flight to check everything was ok.
I think you also didn’t make a comparison that Qatar and Emirates require a transit where as it is a direct flight from London to Singapore via Singapore Airlines.
I have flown SIA eco all my flying life, a few times on the same route and always found them to be excellent and one of the best, however can agree with some comments, I think it was one of my last flights from SG to SYD I felt it was very transactional service. Haven't tried their new cabin or seats yet, will miss the second deck economy.
I think it really depends on the passenger preferences, not everyone enjoy small talk, I am usually use the friendly and distance approach toward the crews, to me I would just prefer to have my "me time" on the plane, instead of engaging with some random person. What I asked for is the crews should be just friendly when I asked for services and beverages. I do feel a bit infringing my privacy if it get too personal.
Sorry but if you want to fly Sydney-London at the moment, Singapore Airlines is actually the cheapest fare. Again, flight cost depends on so many factors. I think this video gives a false impression that Singapore Airlines charges a huge price premium and doesn't deliver. Actually SQ is one of the more consistent options and if around the same price as other options, is usually a safe choice.
You overpaid Josh. I have paid less than that for a return on SIA between LHR and MNL. In my experience, SIA are easily the best airline for my two trips to MNL each year, especially when taking into account the Changi transit experience.
I do find that Josh's video title is a little exaggerated. Is it really "NOT WORTH THE DOLLAR" in all caps? (maybe it's for clickbait purposes, who knows) Hmm... because I've always enjoyed my experience flying with SQ.
I think even with the best-rated airlines sometimes you end up with a crew whose service standards are not up to par. It's happened to me and I'm sure it's happened to other travelers as well. It's like a roll of the dice, sometimes just bad luck. But I'm sure overall SQ cannot be faulted for their product. Hopefully better luck on your next flight on SQ.
Idec what you say I’ve flown Singapore economy and yes It is worth the extra dollar as no airline on the planet can offer what Singapore does in Economy.
Your comment about them being robotic sums up SQ in economy. They were awesome 20 years ago and went to hell during SARS and never seemed to come back to the former glory. I’ve been treated better on United Airlines economy which really says something.
This is going to be a long comment but stay with me. The first time I ever flew long haul was in September 2012 when I moved to Australia and I flew Singapore Airlines from Copenhagen to Brisbane. Having only flown regionally in Europe before, flying with Singapore Airlines was like stepping into a five star hotel. When I moved back to Sweden a year later I flew with Emirates since the ticket was a lot cheaper than Singapore Airlines. The service and hard product surpassed that of Singapore Airlines and I couldn't praise them enough. BUT THEN, in February 2017, as I was flying home from a holiday in Australia, I had the pleasure of flying Qatar Airways from Singapore to Doha on their new A350 and oh my god. It changed everything for me. I had never had that much legroom in en economy seat in my Life. I'm 188cm and my knees never touched the seat in front of me. The flight was maybe 40% full so the crew had lots of time to chat to the passengers. I remember a passenger across the aisle wanted to buy a gift for his wife and one of the crew spent around 30 minutes going through their entire makeup and perfume range, giving advice and just doing small talk with him, While at the same time making sure that the other passengers were comfortable, The other crew members were equally attentive and that flight is to this date the best flight I have ever had. That flight is the standard to which I hold every flight and I'm sorry but no Singapore Girl has ever come near that level of service.
I completely disagree with you. Have you flown with qantas economy class on the same route? it's literally a nightmare for me for example no working usb charging places, rude cabin crew, no wifi, delayed arrival.
@@ryanprodigy3529 Getting the viewers' attention is Josh's job hahah. I'm from SG and maybe SQ should try to retain the more experienced staffs. Being on many flights the last few months, there is certainly room for less experienced ones to improve on regardless which class u are in. Just never fly upper or biz class with a set of training crew!
Dejian yu im a frequent flyer, and honestly speaking SQ is probably one of the best. SQ economy have generous seats and food which i gladly agree with josh. However, socializing is really dependent on individuals. There are people who just dont wanna talk. And during meal time, the staff are busy working and clearing the aisles. Its not like the deliberately attempt to not attend to you.. and if u really seek attention, just press the button and im sure they would gladly assist. And if youwanna be treated exceptionally well, just simply book biz class. SQ biz class is really exceptional, especially the food and seats. Lastly may i add, $1200 is honestly not that costly... guess poor youtuber just tryna get more ad revenue. He should enjoy his one-off fame🤮🤢
I think it's more of a cultural thing. North America, Northern Europe and Australia come from an egalitarianist culture. With the cabin staff from these regions you can chat about everything, make jokes, clearly have their own opinion. And yet they are friendly and professional and take their work very seriously. They ask questions such as where I come from, where I am going, which resort I stay in, they notice my nice shirt, where did I bought it? how do I find the flight, can it be better, let me know? I flew to Bali once, I asked the flight attendant if she had ever been there and had any tips. The KLM stewardes said very honestly that Bali isn't her thing, she didn't had that Bali vibe. She preferred to go to the Caribbean instead. But of course she wished me a lot of fun in Bali. Cabin staff from Asia are more formal, very humble, super helpful, they make the flight comfortable possible and provide the best possible service. But I have never really had an informal conversation with Asian cabin staff. My experiences with Asian airlines were always good and offer a better service in terms of product than American and European airlines. Ultimately, it's all about getting to your destination safely and comfortably.
Of course Josh would have expectations with all that jazz of ads that SQ touts itself to be - "service even other airlines talk about", "going the distance to make you feel at home", and the endless brand promises goes on... SQ overpromised and underdelivered in Josh's review, so why keep bashing him for it? In fact, it's such honest reviews that help me make informed decisions on the value I get for the money I spend as a consumer.
I flew Singapore Airlines to London in 2010 on A380 -SKG. Most amazing plane I've ever flown on! A league of its own. However, I have same take on Singapore cabin crew as you Josh. I found Cathay Pacific crews to be far more engaging, especially to us 'Jean & teashirt' type of travellers. But,like I say, nothing like the A380 to travel on.
I am usually a fan of your videos and almost always agree 100% with your reviews but this one I will have to disagree with you on. 890 US dollars is quite a good deal for a premium carrier on an 11+ hour DIRECT flight.
Hi Josh, you are like ordering chicken rice but expect to taste like Wagyu Beef.. lol Please get a business class or first class ticket bro. I enjoy most of your previous video, but seriously this one is either u have something wrong, or some other airline paid you to demoralize SIA. 😅
SQ is exactly what I want, efficiency, accuracy, timeliness. I am a private person, I don't want people to know me and I am not interested in others. Engagement only happens at work or within my small circle. Interestingly for a full-service airline operated by a developed country, flying out from AUS, they are always on the cheaper side.
Those who are bashing him for the review pls note... He said it is not worth the dollar (meaning : too expensive). He didn't say it was not worth a dollar (meaning : worthless)!!!
I enjoyed the review... It is true that SiA is known for their professionalism, but I don't remember it being about the economy service. We are fully trained just to bring you from point A to B. THAT is the main job and THAT is what we trained for a VERY long and extensive time. Also it depends on the cabin attendant if they want to engage with the passengers. If we find it uncomfortable we don't. If we feel a connection to the passenger, we do. Also like you mentioned, most likely they had a strict Purser or it was a performance review flight with their higher-ups. In my airline we also sent passengers back from the galley, because that is the time we can relax, and the galley is not really the safest place on the plane..( we would prefer passengers to sit with their seatbelts fastened because of unexpected turbulence) Also conversing on the isle is a bit of a complicated situation... I remember every time there was someone I knew on my flight, I would talk to them but moved the conversation to the galley, because everyone around us would get annoyed, even if we weren't loud. People would stare and it made the whole thing uncomfortable. All the other airlines I flew with these past years were no different. they would converse with me because of the flight-attendant thing and we compare aircrafts and facilities, but they did not do the same with passengers... Emirates included... But these are my observations.
Haha! Josh, you seem to be very unlucky with your flights recently. I flew with SQ on economy for my long haul flight to Paris and the flight was very much enjoyable. I think you might wanna get a good luck charm to change your luck with flying. 😉😉
Thanks for the review! :) It comes down on the type of cabin crew you get on board at times. Some of the cabin crew onboard SQ can be a little reserved. Based on my experience, there were crew members who were quite engaging and friendly when you make the step to talk to them. However, there were times where some crews were a bit hard to approach. I hope you have a more pleasant experience on other SQ flights you might be on in the future! :)
This flight is based on my personal experience, and while I say SQ wasn't worth the money in comparison to what I have experienced on other long-haul Economy Class products, it doesn't mean that Singapore Airlines is a bad airline. If you want fake reviews, please visit other channels :) Thanks guys! Follow me on instagram.com/gotravelyourway for daily updates! See you over there :)
I flew this exact flight in December 2015, and admittedly it was in business class on the upper deck, and overall with my experience i was very impressed with all of it! best cabin staff i have ever had anywhere, lovely warm and friendly people, nothing was too much for them to do for us, and i remember at one point during late evening part i was talking to two of the staff about how many of them we're onboard (22 that flight) from all over East & SE Asia, their routines, duties, their life in Singapore etc...Yes I agree SIA is one of the most expensive around, but the quality in their product and service is second to none; I'd be interested to see how this goes for you in business class when you get chance, see how that experience compares...i'd also be happy to share more detail of my experience 4 years ago with you if you're interested
What were you expecting on economy mate? It’s called cattle class no matter what airlines your on. Your not paying for personalised butler service. And 1200 SGD from Singapore to London is actually a good deal. You want to take BA instead? Go right ahead. If you want any sort of personalised service with great meals, fantastic seats and leg room, then it all starts in business.
SGD1200 for Singapore airline is normal price. For June I paid SGD1100 for Emirates which is the norm. During June school holidays Singapore airline price is SGD 3000 to heathrow. So SGD 1200 is cheaper when compared to lufthansa offering of SGD 1500 during school holidays.
First time I flew in economy class with Singapore Airlines was okay. Service was good, food was okay & crew was friendly. Second time flying with them in economy, the overall service dropped to below average. I had a bad experience with the crew regarding service. Due to my partner persistence, I continue using Singapore Airlines, however I changed from economy to premium economy & business class, and the service is better. Singapore Airlines was very close losing me as a customer. I genuinely feel service should be consistent whether you in first class to economy.
While the service might be "robotic" - due to a full flight, did you receive hot or cold towels etc in other airlines? Ultimately, you paid way too much...
Josh: I completely agree with your comments on SQ. Recently took the business class flights SIN-EWR/SEA-SIN/MNL-MEL/MEL-MNL and a couple of other Y class flights. Over the years I have seen SQ service slip. There have been cut backs and I believe they are overrated no doubt. At times I find QR/CX give better prices for SQ. Also what you state about the crew engagement is also correct. The junior crew are very much hesitant to engage but at times I find the senior ones have a better engagement and personality. Also it boils down to the Inflight Manager, which some are engaging and are true ambassadors, many depict the view of I am the boss that effects the behaviour of crew.
for foreign as me, i always choose SQ for my travel.. i do think the crew is much more engage then the other flight company.. and last time when i had my flight with SQ and one of the passager bag drop from the cabin and hit my head.. and the crew was shock and asking me whether i am ok or not.. they really make sure their passager feel comfortable. For me they are the best airline...
Flew KLM economy on a 747-400 from AMS to LAX recently for a similar price as Josh’s flight. Normally fly business class, so did not expect much from service staff. However, service was just as good, if not better. The flight attendant remembered how I liked my coffee and was very friendly and helpful with my two kids. Did this take much time or detract from the service of other passengers? NO! With so many people to serve I was truly impressed. Because of this, I can fully agree with Josh’s comments and criticisms of Singapore airlines economy. It does not take much to show an interest in your passengers, but it says a lot about the training of an airline when they do. Stay honest Josh, it is well appreciated!
I think there are two things that are super important. Number 1, flight attendants that really love their job. Number 2, a fabulous cabin manager that the flight attendants love working for. If these two things are right they can overcome crappy employment practices by the airline. I'm not saying Singapore is a bad employer but some airlines are.
I personally don't want to be bothered when I am flying. I will talk to the attendant if I need them otherwise no chit-chat is excellent service. They have so many people to take care of and I understand that.
I have to say I agree completely. Back in the early 2000's Singapore Airlines were probably the best long haul carrier in the world in terms of product and service but now they have clearly been overtaken by the Middle Eastern Airlines and even other far Eastern Airlines like Vietnam Airlines and Korean Air are competing or even beating them. This is the big thing. Singapore were once the best 20 years ago but they still have the swagger. The crew are beautiful (both male and female) and efficient but they seem to lack all human warmth. You can't have a chat with them or even a brief 20 second exchange unless its strictly about service. Even when you ask for a drink they do a kind of curt nod (for the women) or a Clint Eastwood style stoic nod for the male cabin crew. They don't even say, certain sir/madam or even joke/have fun with the passengers (and this is also true in business not just in economy but with nicer wine and better food!). Also about the in-flight entertainment, it's very 2010 even on the A380.
About the IFE part, I really don’t think 500 movies is that bad because for a 14-15 hour flight you are only going to watch 3 or 4 movies, that is the sane for Emirates Airlines. Therefore, it doesn’t matter weather you have 500 movies or 5,000 movies.
Completely agree with you Josh. I was on the same flight a year or so back and had exactly the same disappointing experience. Cramped seating and super unfriendly crew, imho. Actively discouraged from moving about the cabin. I guess the people who rate SQ must all be sitting up the front!
Flew sq25 several years ago from JFK-FRA on the A380. Ours was a fabulous flight. Incredible crew and amazing food. We had the old cabin. My opinion was very positive. Was also several hundreds less than Lufthansa or United... sooo.
I wish u would give another chance. I frequently fly SG to San Francisco direct flight. The staff is great engaging and the food & snacks awesome 👌. Hehe the crew even said to have more fruits 😋 i have enjoyed sia for the service. Once my in flight stopped working hour into flight and crew upgraded me to spare business seat they had
Singaporeans normally: SQ STANDARD DROPPED SO MUCH
Singaporeans when SQ criticised: DISLIKE THE VIDEO AT ONCE
But i still love SQ :D
And very obviously he flew in the wrong cabin class to expect such personable & engaging service from cabin crew.
Stopped watching his videos because a general trend started to surface: this guy just likes to complain and have the complaint as click bait right at the top of his videos. 🙄🙄🙄
Only here because an article popped up on this about a similar response on twitter explaining the obvious - flight attendants in economy are ridiculously busy.
100% Correct 👍
It's called "Economy" for a reason.
Just wanted to check up and see if you and the CEO of SA got married because they found your boot licking romantic.
True
Bro.. Go to a night club and talk to hostesses if you need someone to talk to...
I'll choose SQ over Emirates or Qatar anytime, although this route might be expensive but SQ is mostly cheap to fly👍🏼
I just expect a smile, that’s all.
@@JoshCahill Hmmmmmmmmmm.
Economy class is the most overworked. Although they are busy, they don't forget to smile to the passengers.
I’ve been flying Emirates a lot recently, and I still prefer to fly Singapore Airlines.
TOTALLY 100% AGREE!!!👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
Read my comment above - it's lengthy, but Justifies the disagreement of Josh's review for once which I've never done before tbh...
I agree with you. And I want to mention that Singapore Airlines is quite CHEAP on other routes. I always fly with them because they are (one of) the best and also that they’re the cheapest option from where I live.
Totally agree, have tried Emirates, Ethiad, Qatar to Asia. I always prefer Singapore Airlines or Eva Air
Jason Hofer: I quite agree!
real George Sukhotin: No, I’m not. I’m a regular user of both Singapore Airlines and Emirates. Singapore Airlines is superior 🇸🇬
For the VERY 1st time Josh I TOTALLY 100% DISAGREE WITH YOUR REVIEW... As an avid follower and fan of your review videos I must admit this time you either got it totally wrong or something went totally wrong with the chemistry between you and Singapore Crew..!!!
Singapore Airlines Indeed is the Best Service Delivery Airline out there and even more so why I Disagree with your review is the fact that SIA is waayyyy high up there due to their Impeccably Service Oriented CABIN CREW TEAM...👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Now let me lay out the facts:
Finally as a Krisflyer member I involved Singapore Airlines who not only were they so Genuinely concerned about my lack of satisfaction, they remained VERY Professional, made direct Personal calls to me all the way from Singapore more than 2 occasions when I was not able to respond to their emails on time which were meant for my OWN benefit actually, lastly Singapore Managed to sort out my mileage issue from a Thai operated return flight and even awarded me a SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF EXTRA MILES AS PART OF SERVICE RECOVERY!!!!👌🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Bottom line - SINGAPORE AIRLINES IS THE BEST IN COMMERCIAL AVIATION BUSINESS ... Their Winning formula is VERY Well Thought Products, Impeccable Service Culture and above all their SINGAPORE CABIN CREW TEAM who are not just trained, but individually make it their Purpose to make each and every Passenger feel like Royalty...👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽
P.S - I Normally fly Singapore in Standard Economy or Premium Economy - Neither have I regretted paying for the Full Priced Ticket nor felt some sort of Discrimination due to my Class of travel or "perceived social class and/ or racial profiling..."
"to make each and every Passenger feel like Royalty"... well, not all of us feel Royalty. At least Josh and me.
Thank you for your FAIR feedback!
David Cartwright i agree with you wholeheartedly esp your last point. Cheers
Noticed the exact same thing! Prefer SIngspore
I see, my bad on not reading it carefully 😅😅
May be he’s dissapointed because he paid for the flight but if it was sponsored definitely he’s expectation always exceed his level. hahaha
I agree with you. You cannot expect a Business Class experience in Economy.
@@brilliantbutblue Well, he was insinuating that $1200 was a high price to pay for a SQ ticket :)
Singaporeans are the most arrogant in Southeast Asia.
@@synesthesia101 excuse me?
Vernon Chung Singaporeans think their farts don’t stink. They look down on all their Southeast Asian neighbors.
@@synesthesia101 that is not true we work together with neighbouring countries. It's a win-win. We prosper and they prosper
I’m agree with you , the senior FA are tend to be friendlier , sadly you will see more junior FA in Y class
Sometimes transit flight may not be the cheapest.. it depends on when u booked it and when u wanna fly.. Middle east is not always the cheapest.
Either you are flying with FF bias or you had flown on a very bad day
even though I am star alliance FF, I had received upgrade to QSuite business class on Qatar on Doha - Singapore because the two economy seats they assigned had faulty IFE system so they bumped me mid flight as complementary gesture!
He is comparing direct flight price with transit price via ME
@@NewmaticKe That's basically comparing apples to oranges.
@@xfirefox_x Who buys a one way ticket from a non-budget airline anyway~
I dont think he prepared the tickets beforehand. This route can get much cheaper when you planned for it. This is way too biased as i am happy with SQ so far. But this ass want to be treated as a prince in an economy. SQ dont even need his review to get good ratings.
Singapore airlines is amazing, and I've enjoyed their nasi lemak breakfast to London. The crew were great too during that flight. And I've also experienced their shortest route from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore using A350.
@@ak52892 yes it's halal, you can pre-order halal food online on Singapore Airlines
The cabin crew couldn't do enough for us two thumbs up to them 👍👍
Agreed.
I love Singapore Airlines and the crew 🙌
Emiliya Kazantseva what’s s7? Did u mean SQ SINGAPORE AIRLINES?
Food and service from SQ is consistent no matter where u fly to and from
Having flown the majority of airlines to Philippines I'll always choose Singapore airlines its hands down the best and when your flexible on your dates you can get a good price.
How does only Josh have bad experiences on some of the best airlines and get the worst crew for his flights!!! i think he's crew cursed!!!
I don’t think the crew was bad, I think I was just expecting something else from an airline like SQ who promotes itself as the very best.
Josh likes to tell things straight. That's why u find the bitter truth about airlines in his vlogs
Josh Cahill at 7.19 you said the crew was the biggest let down. Here you say you don’t think the crew was bad. Bit confused sorry.
(maybe it's for clickbait purposes, who knows)
Hmm... because I've always enjoyed my experience flying with SQ.
Dude, try hanging out more with people instead of paying 1200.
Based on 20 flights with SQ in economony i can say they are the best airline in the world.
You should try the alternative airline on that route then. See their level of interaction then.
emirates and qatar can get half price from London to Singapore? really? never see 600dollar for 12hours flight before
Keep doing what you're doing. Keep sharing your experiences. Don't let an entire nation affect your passion. Cheers mate !
You can take a boat from LHR to Singapore. Definitely worth every penny for every hour you spend onboard!
When Josh uses this music for his videos you already know that this video's not going to be good lol
IKR!! I thought the same. That music is also driving me crazy l wish hed change it.
Bruh...
I completely disagree with you. Have you flown with qantas economy class on the same route? it's literally a nightmare for me for example no working usb charging places, rude cabin crew, no wifi, delayed arrival.
hahah most of his reviews are bad. Maybe he should do a video to show what is good?
Dejian yu totally agree, probably only those who pay him gets the good review.
Guess just tryna get attention🤮.
@@ryanprodigy3529 yep agree that sq biz is better than Thai, Emirates or Qantas based on experience.
Singapore airlines is amazing!
Yessss 100% agree with you!!!😊👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👌🏽👌🏽👍🏽
Hi Josh,
you are like ordering chicken rice but expect to taste like Wagyu Beef.. lol
Please get a business class or first class ticket bro.
I paid 250 euro for a flight from Bangkok, Thailand to Düsseldorf, Germany with 24 hours stopover in Singapore. It was such a great flight for me.
I found Singapore Airlines cabin crew very friendly and engaging, in economy class
Haha! Josh, you seem to be very unlucky with your flights recently. I flew with SQ on economy for my long haul flight to Paris and the flight was very much enjoyable. I think you might wanna get a good luck charm to change your luck with flying. 😉😉
Thanks for the review! :)
It comes down on the type of cabin crew you get on board at times.
If you want fake reviews, please visit other channels :) Thanks guys!

ok boomer
Singapore Airlines is supposed to be one of the best carrier's in all aspects.
I think you should start a series for shitty airlines or airline classes
The Singapore Airlines Airbus A380-800 Flying From London Heathrow LHR to Singapore SIN Plane Big
1200 Singapore dollars is 797,95 Euro! Great price for a Singapore Airlines flight
India airline is more let down
I agree. I flew them premium from Tokyo to Singapore on an A350. It was no better than Delta’s premium cabin. And I found the DL crew more authentic.
for foreign as me, i always choose SQ for my travel.. i do think the crew is much more engage then the other flight company.. and last time when i had my flight with SQ and one of the passager bag drop from the cabin and hit my head.. and the crew was shock and asking me whether i am ok or not.. they really make sure their passager feel comfortable. For me they are the best airline...
I have experience crew like that on SQ many times, it kind of ruined their reputation for me
Flew KLM economy on a 747-400 from AMS to LAX recently for a similar price as Josh’s flight.
Are you saying this because you hope that Singapore Airlines is going to watch this video and sponsor you a Business Class/Suite back to London ?
I don’t accept free flights.
Singapore airline are truly the best airline now. I fly many different airline.
Was also several hundreds less than Lufthansa or United... sooo.
As a Singaporean, I absolutely agree that the service is no longer as good as 20 years ago.
I have had a similar experience with SQ crew a few years back during a night flight from CCU to SIN. I think, the flight callsign was SQ517
