I flew Singapore Airlines 737 MAX the very same day from Bali to Singapore, and that was a flawless, superb experience. Stay tuned for that one, I'll upload the video soon. Subscribe and click the bell button 🔔 so you don't miss out
Hi Jayden, I’m a big fan of your content. I really love how you commentate on every video diligently and give us all the information possible. You also allow us to hear inflight announcements which I really like as it reminds me of flying on an aircraft. Your videos are quite authentic and unique from most aviation RUclipsrs and I really enjoy most of your videos. However I feel that you usually only review certain airlines like Qantas, Cathay, SQ, Virgin, Hong Kong and the Chinese airlines. So maybe you could expand your reviews to other airlines so we could have other perspectives of different countries and airlines and it might also make your videos more interesting than it already is. Anyways great work on the content and I really appreciate what you do. Keep on posting world class content!
Hi there! Appreciate your comment! I live in Hong Kong and Australia and travel a lot in between. So inevitably I have to travel a lot with Qantas, VA, Cathay and Singapore Airlines. That being said, RUclips algorithms tend to recommend you videos that are around your region (this gives me headache!!). So you may have missed out on my Westjet, Air Canada, Delta, United and American Airlines videos. I actually did more videos on Delta and United more than I have with Hong Kong Airlines, Cathay and SQ collectively this year. Do check them out if you haven’t :)) Coming weeks and months, I am covering Garuda, Xiamen Air and Icelandair, all of which I have not done before :) Also Turkish, KLM, Finnair, Fiji etc.
Not to excuse the process during the gate delay, but as a former ground handling supervisor at a major US carrier sometimes a delay isn't announced immediately because passengers have a habit of wandering off and if the delay is shorter than anticipated they can miss their flight. Just my two cents from my days as an airline supervisor.
Hi Gerald, thanks for sharing your insight. Sounds like it is a risk to do that. All good if the delay is short, but frustrating if it's a longer delay.
yes, it is frustrating when the flight is ready for boarding and there are missing passengers...after all, the flight has already been delayed and they want to take off as soon as possible...hence the lock in is a good idea...
I enjoyed seeing your "behind the scenes", your cute katten and hearing you speak Mandarin! Thanks for showing us your home. And the Singapore Airlines review was informative and you were not complaining too much.
I am Singaporean and I thought I was going to be miffed at your complaints. But I completely agree with your complaint points, especially not keeping the passengers informed about the delays. Terrible decision. And not filtering the passengers boarding is another big no-no for me.
hahaha you got me scared for a second, I also supposed it was more SATS fault. I felt particularly bad for wheelchair pax and their companions. They were waiting at the boarding glass door for an hour
The problem is they well care of each other not customers. They repeat like AI and unprofessional or untrained well. Even their it team just bad as customer service. Hurt but truth.
I did not purchase any of Singapore airline tickets for ages, as Cathay Hongkong express had so many direct flights to Japan, Korea, Australia as well as mainland, transfer in Singapore is taking so long time. it was so stressful and made you felt unhappy about the rules that SIa made was very tricky also put tons of passengers stuck in the little waiting area without toilet facilities were so annoying and disappointing.Anyway, one world always doing a little better anyway love your cat, the little one looks like your babe Jayden, enjoy your every single day back home.
I flew the 78X from SG to Perth and had no problems. The flight was 99% full. The entertainment was very good - you have live TV (where you can watch live sport, live bbc news and cnbc news). As well you can browse through the guide to transiting Changi Airport. Downs: the seats were crammed and I was uncomfortable to sleep.
Malaysian here. My wife flew SQ business from KL to Sing to Brisbane. She was very dissapointed, after all the hype and the price we paid. It became very apparent early in the flight that the staff were selective on who they treated better, with the westerners getting better service. SIA is at the same level as MAS now, except MAS food is marginally better. We flew ANA business a few months later and that flight was super all the way.
As a person why fly a lot in economy, I actually prefer MAS over SQ. The KUL lounges are superb, even the regional lounge after security is better than SQ’s gold lounge.
Am I the only one who took a bath right after watching this video? Thank you Jayden for all your well-made videos. I remember having a great Singapore Sling in the next to last row of a Singapore Airlines 777 from SFO-ICN. They made it from ingredients on the cart in Economy! It was so great to see your home and cute Lilly. I live in Atlanta and fly at least monthly - but mainly domestic destinations. I do hope to visit Adelaide sometime.
You were actually objective and professional (and very nice and pleasant) the way you talked about your pre-flight experience. 👍 Also, you're awesome the way you're mindful of your elderly seatmate. Your day-in-life vlog was comfy nice to watch and I love seeing Lily again! I missed her. And Lily's expression at 5:18. 😂
I totally agree! SQ is my favourite airline on board and top class. Best crew and food in the skies by miles and a very practical and comfy seat with great entertainment but I think Cathay's newest economy seat is more comfortable with the double seat back padding. I also was surprised you like the extra meal, I am fine with one especially on a 6 and a half hour red eye as it takes time away from sleeping. Their lounges and gate management are not the best. I am flying the 787 from Singapore to Bali next April!
I definitely appreciated the first light meal, many SQ pax are connecting at SIN. They would’ve arrived from another flight and probably had no lounge access, they would be starving by that time. I suppose you can put on headphones and eye masks if you wish the skip the first meal haha. Thanks for watching!
I've had my best meal in CX in economy, Lamb racks navarin with mashed potatoes. I hope they resume flying through russia in the future for breathtaking view and calm weather compared to over Azerbajdzjan which always has lightning strike and turbulence
Vitasoy is actually very readily available in Singapore! I used to drink it all the time! I'm glad SQ has tweaked their red eye meal service for SIN-OZ flights. It was one of the reasons why I've avoided them this far.
They can afford to cut cost on SIN-OZ flights as they know their competitor Qantas is basically rubbish and OZ cities are cashcow destinations with huge connecting traffic. I hope more ME carriers like Emirates, Qatar or TK will operate fifth freedom flights from SIN to OZ
I remember that i fly with Singapore Airlines with Fukuoka... They only served breakfast only on around 5 am and the cabin was kind off hot at first and there was either salmon and rice or chicken with potato but its quite enjoyable
Sitting the last row is the best! You can recline your seats comfortably 🤟 If you are lucky, row 74 and 75 H/K are twin seats which is slightly less compact especially if its a long flight 😊
Sound like what I use to do when an American client had a world-wide economy policy and I had regular trips there (and around Asia). On the QF 747 I would always get a window seat in the second to last row (or the last row) where the cabin became narrower, and there were only two seats, with great legroom between the seat in front and the wall.
Last time I flew SQ was 2017. The last time I flew any SQ-linked airline was this summer on Scoot and I had the reverse of yours: we were KEPT at the tarmac for quite long before the captain told us that the jetbridge was broken and we had to wait for the fix to be done. Luckily it only added around 1/2 to 3/4 hour to my waiting time and the crews apologized for the delay so....fair enough. Nice video as always!
I flew SQ from SIN-MEL on the 12/11/23. We boarded the flight on time wated and waited until the captain informed us that there was a problem with insects clogging up a part of the plane. We sat on the plane for 3hrs before we were notified that we needed to disembark and wait for a new flight to arrive. After a delay of 4 hours, we finally took off. We were supposed to arrive into MEL just after 6pm, but eventually arrived at approximately 10:30pm. The cabin crew was amazing throughout the delay and in the air.
I wonder if SIA compensated passengers for this four hour delay ? I ask because for flights of this length departing the EU (including UK which honours EU261) passengers would have been entitled to £200 + refund under EU261 rules.
Considering that Jayden is always kind and gracious and often too generous in his review, his displeasure stems from genuine issues to which SQ should address.
No free wifi if your Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer account is not linked to your boarding pass. This sums up the modern day caste system that permeates the way Singapore Airlines is run. From lounge access to Wi-Fi access.
What you saw inside Costco is the /exact/ view, and layout you get at any Costco in the world. If I didn't know, you could've been at my local Costco here in Northern California. The colors, signage, the concrete floors, shelving, shopping trolleys are all exactly the same.
We flew SIA decades ago and all was fine EXCEPT the 747 air con was stuck on freezing-cold right on top of us in the front baby seats. They tried to diminish the freezing air flow but couldn't, the flight was full so we couldn't change seats, and we had to wrap our baby up like a mummy so she wouldn't freeze (they gave us heaps of airline blankets and pillows - and of course the standard crib). The seat was also broken but that wasn't of any serious concern. Then, the SIA flight path to Sydney used to be further south than Qantas etc, flying down over the Spencer Gulf toward Adelaide (sort of), out over the southern ocean a bit then banking left and straight across to Sydney. I had to ask the steward about that because it looked very strange at the time and he explained it to us (this was decades before the missing Malaysian jet). Otherwise, I've flown SIA numerous times inter-Asia, along with Silk Air, and they are excellent. Silk Air has the best looking hostesses by far (Singaporean, Indonesian, Chinese etc) although these days Cebu, Garuda sometimes, and a few Vietnamese airlines give it some competition. Thai isn't all glamours anymore like it used to be.
I always enjoy your vlogs after a flight review. Nice to see Lily. Didn't know you had Costco down under. I visited friends in Adelaide once. Found it to be a lovely city. Whenever I see you on short final into ADL it brings back fond memories of that stunning approach.
their 777 is brilliant, super wide seats across all cabins. You'll find their business and economy seats on 787 and 350 narrower but still pretty decent!
Thanks Jayden. Sorry your experience in the Singapore terminal was less that stellar. Good that you had such an excellent experience on the flight. That landing was not just butter but melted butter. Lol I enjoyed the Adelaide vlog. Nice to see the old homestead and the roommates, including Lily. See you next time. Steveo.
You are to be commended for your consideration shown to other passengers. Yes, a smile and a cheerful disposition in the flight crew helps to make up for when things have gone awry. Lilly (your cat) has told me you need a housekeeper! 😄
thank you so much, appreciate your comment :)) I could definitely use a gardener 🤣 we're all from big cities (HK, Bangkok and HCM) without gardening skills. Luckily our lovely neighbours help out
I'd not had a very bad experience at any time They're not flawless by any measure but excellent in many ways. Entertainment and food has never been better. I absolutely love them.
I'm a Singaporean in his very early 40s, and I remember growing up watching ads for Vitasoy on TV. Accordingly, it's also been available in our supermarkets for many years now. So, I guess it's not that odd to see it on an SQ flight!
Ah interesting! I love how it’s the same type of Asian soy milk too. In Australia, vitasoy soy milk is a bit different. More westernised I suppose. Thanks for sharing!!
thanks for the upload! it gives me an idea of what to expect, since i'm taking the same flight this weekend (Adelaide -> Singapore) on the way to Beijing for a school trip in China. i've taken singapore airlines many times before, and the experience has always been amazing. i'm sorry to hear about the delay issue, that's really frustrating and i can imagine having to wait for an hour without water or access to a bathroom could have been really stressful.
I flew SG overnight red eye from Singapore to Melbourne back in early 2022 flying in a B777-300. There was no meal service after take off which was really annoying as I was peckish and needed a glass of wine to relax me but that was not forthcoming. Lights were out until breakfast serving 7 hours later. I had to ask for some snacks, I got a muffin and tea with no milk ( had to ask for that) … the air in the plane smelled musty ( I think the aircraft was stored in a desert during Covid) . I was super disappointed with the experience. I sure Hope they have improved.
Note Singapore Airline only installed the shower in Kris Gold Lounge post Covid. Pre Covid Star Alliance Gold along with KrisFlyer Gold and Velocity Gold flying on SIA only have access to a lounge without shower.
@@JaydenWong I completely forgot that point. There solution was you can just go outside of the lounge. We all know there two membership at Singapore Airline and one clearly get more benefit. Anyway I look forward to your review on the new MAS A330 Neo coming out this year and who knows I might bump into you if you fly out of Perth.
Probably SQ didn't consider an hour delay is a delay. For a passenger, if a delay can be informed/ broadcasted earlier, they can make use their time in other ways like shopping, lounge access, or walk around instead of stuck at the waiting room. Moreover, all passengers stuck at a small room for an hour. It is not a wise handling for a 5-star airline anyway.
Feb 2023 Frankfurt, Deutschland - SIN on SQ. Dinner was served. I asked for a beer. There was no beer on the entire aircraft according to cabin crew. The other pax behind me requested the same but there was none. Best airline in the world? At least on SQ's LCC Scoot, I can buy a beer for SGD9
After serious disappointment on three separate occasions years ago Singapore Airlines remains on my "avoid if possible" list along with Qantas. News has just come that Turkish Airlines has approval for many new flights to Australia including Perth. I've never heard anything but good about Turkish Airlines so that's good news.
I'm glad to see you back @JaydenWong 😊. Continue to do what you love, and be your best self. Nice shirt as well. Anyhow, has 6'4 ever hit his head while boarding the aircraft (us tall folks have our moment's). I love your feedback and views on every upload. And I can't wait to travel on these airlines.
Haha good question, most of the times the crew have reminded him to watch out. He almost hit his head at the subway (underground passage) in Singapore 🤣 there was a pipe out of nowhere
@@JaydenWong hahaha 🤣🤣 oh my! Well at least they said it early. Henceforth, lucky lad he was (a damn pipe out of nowhere wow!). I too have had my shared moments of hitting my head from time to time moreso on the overhead bins as well ugh! Yet I'm looking into traveling on one of the longest routes to Singapore one day in the near future, and thanks for giving me an insight of what it's like traveling on various airlines on various routes. Tell you're partner (Mr. 6'4 yes 😁) that one of your subscribers said hello. Hope you both have a great rest of the week and a nice end to 2023 and a smooth turnover into 2024 🥂. 我必须在最后补充一下这样一种有益健康的方式来结束视频博客 #staysafeguys
I flew business class for the first time on Singapore Airlines to Thailand in Feb 2022. Really disappointing! We were told that for an 8 hour flight we could choose to have a late dinner or breakfast, not both. One meal for an 8 hour flight in business class is not acceptable.
Hi Jayden. It’s unusual for Singapore Airlines to leave someone a bit disappointed but I can understand why in this case. I am flying back from Japan with them in April so 🤞🏻 it’s a smooth experience. Top Vlog as always. You really are a Mega night owl. Cheers. Ways
Delta airlines is not in Star Alliance. They are in Sky Team Alliance. Surprised you cannot leave the gate area. The gate agents should board you in groups, seems like they are very disorganized at the gate level.
Did they allow you go over 2kg extra? How heavy was your checked bag. I am sure there were lots of bags at the baggage claim from this flight since it was a 777. Where was the cat from lol
My checked bag was like 15kg, I travel quite light haha. A lot of passengers came from India and Europe with LOTS of bags indeed. My cat is a local Adelaidean, born and bred🤣
Singapore Airlines is usually highly ranked....now? Again, as a pilot, I noticed the F/A uniforms and it caused me concern. Those very long skirts? In an emergency they look positively prohibitive...perhaps they use Velcro for a quick removal, in the event of an Evac or worse, ditching in the water???
Really objective comments and thanks for sharing your daily life for the first time. Maybe it’s time for you two to share your love stories and dating stories with us now ❤
Awww you have Silkair model..I miss that carrier! Feel like tearing up 😢...thanks for the vlog and nice looking at your cat! Does everyone take turn taking care of the cat?
it was a gift and I love it! All the plane models I have are actually gifts haha. It's usually just the feeding part. Whoever she meows to feeds her🤣The backyard is her bathroom.
Hi Jayden….this is interesting as my family had a disappointing experience with SQ departing and returning to Adelaide as well. My seat was broken and they forgot my book the cook meal on the way out. On the way back they forgot my wife’s book the cook….all three of us business class, a bit disappointing. We have always flown SQ for 20 years but this year disappointed.
I had uncomfortable experience with Singapore Airlines when flying from Singapore to Adelaide in late Nov too. There was no announcement of delay until boarding was completed and that was already half an hour past departure time. Due to weather condition, cargo loading only started after everyone's on the plane. We waited and waited. Finally, we took off after 2am in the morning (the scheduled departure time is 11.40pm). We have been sitting on the plane for 2 hours. I agree with you Jayden that Singapore Airlines could have announced much earlier. My experiences with Singapore Airlines have been good. Last month flight was the only bad one.
See exactly my point. I wouldn’t have minded the delay as long as there’s communication and we are not held hostage I’m at Melbourne airport right now. Just landed from ADL. We were half way through boarding and the crew told us to head back to terminal due to adverse weather in MEL. They didn’t know how long the delay would be so rather than holding us onboard or at the gate, they told us to relax in the Qantas club and wait for further PA.
23:36, What, they have Costco in Adelaide? I though you went to Hawaii to go to Costco, but I didn't know they have Costco in Adelaide. I always go to Costco in Hawaii to buy something.
yeah of course, other US shops/fast food we have is Mcdonald's 🤣 Carl's Jr was introduced here just before Covid. No Starbucks in Adelaide though. People here love their local cafes.
@@JaydenWong Starbucks is trash- they failed miserably along the east coast. We’ve always made better coffee than the Murikkkans for starters, so they had nothing of value to teach us when they opened a crazy amount of stores with overconfidence then had to close most of them over the years because people tried it and thought it was both gross and overpriced. It’s sad how worshippped it is in Murikkka- they have no idea what good coffee is. I tried a Starbucks in the US before they came to Oz and have to say they were still average and overpriced for what they are- mostly syrups and powders… just like their nutrition lacking foods in general they think are so amazing. 😂 I make Frappuccinos of all flavours that they don’t even make, at home and for a fraction of the price. At Xmas time, throw in a splash of booze 😂 perfect for summer Christmas. 🎄🏖
Great report JW. Shame there wasn't big hug goodbye with 6"4" at Changi. I'm assuming they wanted everyone at the gate to ensure a faster departure? The carrot cake looked amazing, one of my favourite dishes in Singapore! I haven't flown on an 787-10 yet, I'm jealous 😀 Have to ask, why do you have saucepan on the floor near the door, a leak? OMG, my husband loves those dumplings!! Keep up the great work and I always look forward to Jayden Thursdays!
Probably, maybe it's also why they let the whole plane board at the same time. It wasn't a saucepan hahaha! It was Lily's water dispenser 🤣 Those dumplings were 1/2 at Coles last week, I got like eight packs 🤣
We had a recent American Airlines flight at LHR that was listed as "flight closing" on the board 35 minutes before listed departure time. We ran, but the gate agent told us "oh, it wasn't closing...we just say that so people will be here." (and then when sat on the plane for 45+ minutes before we pushed back) So, I'm not a big fan of airlines not being honest with customers--even worse if there is no bathroom!! In all fairness, the cabin crew on AA did a great job during that flight to KPHL. So sad seeing 6'4 behind the glass and not with you...
My perspective as a pilot for a major US airline? I'm retired now, but I have seen the Good, Bad and Ugly during my career. There are MANY moving parts behind the scenes, and in passenger service arenas, many opportunities for Human error
@@JaydenWong yes I know you have and all of them are amazing as usual. Also I have actually flown Singapore airlines this year on January from Sydney to Singapore on a350 then to manilla on their 787-9 and for the way back I flew 787-9 again then the fun part back to sydney on their a380
Between B787-10 and A350-900 which one is a better fit on SQ278/279 SIN-ADL? You did the route before on A350-900 and for me I would see SQ Krisflyer Gold Lounge = CX lounge like the Pier in HKG = Korean Air Prestige Class lounge ICN > UA United Clubs EWR Terminals A and C = PR Mabuhay Lounges. Excellent trip report overall and I wish SQ allows book the meal on SIN-ADL followed by SIN-PER and SIN-MNL yet it can be done on SIN-EWR/JFK
me too! So glad they did. Literally was my only complaint in the past haha. Now onboard experience is perfect, even better if they could bring back hot towels
@@JaydenWong couldn't agree more. We've moved most of our business to Vietnam Airlines now for our regular treks to HCM City. They offer such a good product.
Great video, Jayden. Sorry your airport experience was so bad. I’d expect better from SQ. The not announcing the delay is really bad form since it left everyone stuck in the crowded gate area for an extended period of time. Nice to see they at least made up for it in the air. Good to see they brought back the after-takeoff snack. Thanks for the day in the life vlog. Looks like we’re awake at the same times. 😂
Jayden. have you visited all the facilities of Changi : restaurants, shops, hawker centers, butterfly house, the Jewel fountain, the entertainment venues, etc?
Great vlog. Enjoyed it. I'm curious why you chose TK for your star alliance FFP when you are not based in Europe? Will be interesting to know what your considerations are when choosing an FFP.
haha Good question. I use Qantas for Oneworld, Delta for Skyteam and Turkish for Star Alliance and here's why for each of them. Qantas- I picked this over Cathay because the Qantas program earns you way more points and status credit even when you are on a Cathay flight. That being said, Cathay give you a lot of perks other than the regular Oneworld ruby/sapphire/emerald benefits, such as free upgrades, lounge for silver members, and more benefits on the ground. Yet, Qantas is just way easier to reach Oneworld ruby/sapphire/emerald. Delta- I liked their MQM calculations, helped me reach and retain gold (Elite Plus) easily. Also like UA and AA, I enjoy the free upgrades on domestic flights. However, it stinks that they removed lounge access for Delta operated flights if you're in economy, even if you are their gold. And they are changing their program next year, favouring those (who live in the US) with a Delta credit card so I am not going to aim for gold next year. Probably switch to KLM/AF Flying Blue. Turkish- I tried the Air NZ and United programs and I failed to retain Gold for both. Air NZ didn't gave me an extension during the 2022 borders lockdown. However, they stopped extending the lockdown when NZ reopened to Aussie travellers. Specifically Aussie travellers, you can be an Aussie in USA going to NZ. But if you're an American in Australia, you couldn't go to NZ... it was all very weird. I live in Australia but I am not an Aussie so I lost my gold with them. United isn't too hard in terms of PQP but you need to fly on their flights 24 times. Too difficult when I don't live there. Now Turkish- I fly mostly long haul in economy and they don't discriminate their members who often in economy e.g. a very good gold lounge in IST. Plus, they are launching flights to Australia soon, easy miles when I fly them all the way to Europe.
@JaydenWong Thanks Jayden for taking the time to provide a detailed reply. My work only takes me around Asia, and being based in SIN, the natural choice would be Krisflyer. Unfortunately I only fly economy due to company policies regarding short and medium haul flights. The only perk that SQ gives its KF Gold members that other Star Gold members on SQ flights don't get is complimentary advance seat selection. I was KF Gold for many years but it became a major strain to retain Gold when some tickets don't earn you 100% status miles anymore. Then I was introduced to Asiana Club FFP. Qualifying and requalifying requires less miles than most other Star Alliance airlines, and you have a 2 year window to requalify. There's also no requirement for you to fly on their metal. So while I lose the option to choose my seats in advance, I get all the Star Gold perks whenever I fly SQ or other Star Alliance carriers. The only downside is not knowing when Asiana will cease to exist after it gets bought over by Korean Air. 🤔
@@arabesque2222 Funny you mentioned about Asiana, I would've gone for them if it weren't for the merge. I don't really stick with one airline so not having to fly with them as a bare minimum was very attractive to me!
For group boarding and priority boarding purposes. Imagine a full A380 flight and 500 people trying to board at the same time. It's a standard practice that Singapore Airlines or the SATS staff check your boarding pass again when you board AND at the boarding door for security purposes. The ground staff just didn't do it for this flight, the flight crew did though as they were amazing throughout the flight.
Yes plenty, one time in business class I got a piece of paper in my cup of tea: ruclips.net/video/AjVzmud68K8/видео.htmlsi=6qYIkPfnM6DjgD3q The other time I waited about 30 mins for my drinks: ruclips.net/video/YWeNBm4p45o/видео.htmlsi=80NHhfVCMaLgqbuj Now finally, this flight from Bali to Singapore was perfect: ruclips.net/video/wlkqGnme-c0/видео.htmlsi=sV9AyLIqJdwUoEXJ
Hi Jayden I love the back seats on a plane. The meals you got looked ok. Funny I only said to my son last nite I would love to walk around Costco, was it good as I've never been to one.
good point. Very weird. for their foreign ports, they.almost always have a station manager present at check-in and boarding, but at their hub airport, they leave to it SATS
@JaydenWong At overseas ports, it is still the local ground handler running the operations, but with the supervision of the locally hired SQ staff. To be honest, I have not seen an SQ Station Manager at check in or gate in recent years! 😅 At Changi, SQ has a few of their own duty managers working alongside SATS. With the sheer number of SQ flights, they have to rely largely on SATS resources. SATS isn't too bad and SQ does come down hard on them if they don't meet service levels.
As a huge fan of Singapore Airlines, your title certainly made me click it to see what could they have slipped up. But after your video, I can understand your frustration and how they could indeed do better Jayden. The food didn't look like it was up to standard too. 😅
0:42 I don't think you need to apologise at all. You're merely presenting what you experienced with SQ. Providing criticism based on that is something you are certainly entitled to do. 4:03 This security-at-each-gate and secured-waiting-lounge system at Changi is the pits. 3:37 哎呀! Why not fly to ADL via SYD with the stretched Tom Holland?
Hi Nik. Many say T4 sucks, it's too far and low-cost, but it's my favourite at that airport. Security and immigration first, then free to roam until actual boarding!
How do you know none of the passenger boarding isn't Star Alliance Gold or PPS? I fly between SG to US a lot...most people flying have KFEG and lots with PPS and higher. so...
Singapore Airlines is a great airline and Changi is a wonderful airport … however, having security screening at the gate is one of the airport’s great drawbacks. Whereas with most airports, once you’re through security you can relax until boarding, at Singapore this is not the case and security screening at the gate adds a lot of unnecessary stress just before boarding. It also creates issues such as yours where passengers are locked in a secure area without toilets or water. It’s the one thing I really dislike about Changi. 🤨
same... KUL and BKK make you wait inside too but they have loos at least, only the big A380 gates at SIN have loos. I like Changi T4 though, the one that Jetstar and Cathay use, it's security and immigration first, and then airside.
And I'm inferring that "6'4" who you refer to is your partner/boyfriend? Not sure about 'every' airline lounge, but depending on the class of travel? Well, some lounges simply ask a fee for "guests". Oh now I get it...boyfriend (6'4) was booked another flight, SYD, likely in another class category.
Singapore Airlines/Star Alliance don't allow guest if you're in business class. Only if you've got Gold status that you can guest someone on the same flight in.
To be entirely fair to Singapore Airlines, the boarding operations in Singapore Changi airport are handled by SATS, not Singapore Airlines, and while I believe Singapore Airlines used to own a large majority stake in the company, they sold it in 2009 and are no longer related.

I agree, however in the T3 multi-aircraft lounges there are no toilets.
Except Singapore is different than the US in that you go through security at the gate and then have no access to toilets or food.
Hi Gerald, thanks for sharing your insight. Sounds like it is a risk to do that. All good if the delay is short, but frustrating if it's a longer delay.
Should be allowed to leave the gate area, but then you would have to go through customs again.
yes, it is frustrating when the flight is ready for boarding and there are missing passengers...after all, the flight has already been delayed and they want to take off as soon as possible...hence the lock in is a good idea...
I’m serious, I’m from Thailand and you can try out our services and you will impressed your airline more than you thought 😂😂
Downs: the seats were crammed and I was uncomfortable to sleep.
true regarding the seats but that goes to all 787 economy except for JAL. Thanks for sharing your experience!
@@JaydenWong The SQ lounge was super packed and suffocating! They need to give priority to SQ customers v customers from their alliances....
I love how you did the lavatory tour before the flight so the old person can not have any trouble with you moving! great review by the way.
Nice flight review Jayden! I am your fan from Singapore :)
greetings from Sydney Airport :)
thanks for watching!
Thank you for your comment! haha that was my expression when I found no coat hook
I hope they resume flying through russia in the future for breathtaking view and calm weather compared to over Azerbajdzjan which always has lightning strike and turbulence
interesting, didn't know about the turbulence on the new route. I do remember the scenic route over Russia, almost always slept through it 🤣
I always love your videos and never fail to disappoint! I will be flying Adelaide to Singapore and return next year!!
I hope EK brings back BKK-SYD and SIN-BNE soon, and more
The view flying into Adelaide city from the port side of the aircraft is astonishing!!
it never gets old!
I have flown SQ’s Boeing 787-10 on the Perth-Singapore route, and found the seats in economy really narrow. Not so comfortable IMO 🥲
I definitely prefer the retired SQ 777-200 and 330!
I remember that i fly with Singapore Airlines with Fukuoka... They only served breakfast only on around 5 am and the cabin was kind off hot at first and there was either salmon and rice or chicken with potato but its quite enjoyable
Sitting the last row is the best! You can recline your seats comfortably 🤟 If you are lucky, row 74 and 75 H/K are twin seats which is slightly less compact especially if its a long flight 😊
absolutely loved it. My neighbours did the same right after takeoff, inconsiderably reclined, bang on the wall🤣
@@JaydenWong hahahaha
Sound like what I use to do when an American client had a world-wide economy policy and I had regular trips there (and around Asia). On the QF 747 I would always get a window seat in the second to last row (or the last row) where the cabin became narrower, and there were only two seats, with great legroom between the seat in front and the wall.
love the extra space between the wall and seat too!
i love singapore airlines and also i am a big fan jayden keep up the good work
thank you :))
I also had a great experience on Singapore Airlines! So I think Singapore Airlines’ service is not that bad.
Good to know the crew looked after you during the delay! That’s good delay management
Surprising lounge access rule. Glad I learned about it. It makes some of the disappointments with AF and Skyteam all relative.
G’day Jayden, you’re looking dapper. Waiting zone is a big problem.
🤘🏻
No free wifi if your Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer account is not linked to your boarding pass. This sums up the modern day caste system that permeates the way Singapore Airlines is run. From lounge access to Wi-Fi access.
Last time i flew on SQ was on a B747-400, from New Zealand to LHR in August 1991., in Economy. Love your awesome flight report Jayden👍✈
Thanks Brian! Damn wayyyy before I was born🤣
What you saw inside Costco is the /exact/ view, and layout you get at any Costco in the world. If I didn't know, you could've been at my local Costco here in Northern California. The colors, signage, the concrete floors, shelving, shopping trolleys are all exactly the same.
Ah interesting! It's definitely unique
I love the approach into Adelaide! It’s so close to the city and I recognise all the landmarks haha. Thanks for watching!!
Great trip report. I love Singapore Airlines. I’ve only flown their 777 so I’d definitely be curious to check out their 787 and A350
their 777 is brilliant, super wide seats across all cabins. You'll find their business and economy seats on 787 and 350 narrower but still pretty decent!
Thanks Jayden.
Sorry your experience in the Singapore terminal was less that stellar.
Good that you had such an excellent experience on the flight.
That landing was not just butter but melted butter. Lol
I enjoyed the Adelaide vlog. Nice to see the old homestead and the roommates, including Lily.
See you next time.

Melted butter 🤣 Love that, thank you so much Stevo!

You are to be commended for your consideration shown to other passengers. Yes, a smile and a cheerful disposition in the flight crew helps to make up for when things have gone awry. Lilly (your cat) has told me you need a housekeeper! 😄
thank you so much, appreciate your comment :))
I could definitely use a gardener 🤣 we're all from big cities (HK, Bangkok and HCM) without gardening skills. Luckily our lovely neighbours help out
I'd not had a very bad experience at any time
They're not flawless by any measure but excellent in many ways.
Looking forward to the Bali to Singapore vlog.
thanks for the upload! it gives me an idea of what to expect, since i'm taking the same flight this weekend (Adelaide -> Singapore) on the way to Beijing for a school trip in China. i've taken singapore airlines many times before, and the experience has always been amazing. i'm sorry to hear about the delay issue, that's really frustrating and i can imagine having to wait for an hour without water or access to a bathroom could have been really stressful.
The hours you keep Jayden are as irregular as mine! Great video of both the flight and 24 hours at home. Thanks for posting.
haha I like a bit of day time and night time activities. Irregular is great 🤣
when are you ging to Venice? my home town it would be nice to see you there xx
Venice wow, would love to visit soon!
Note Singapore Airline only installed the shower in Kris Gold Lounge post Covid. Pre Covid Star Alliance Gold along with KrisFlyer Gold and Velocity Gold flying on SIA only have access to a lounge without shower.
that I remember, I was shocked they didn't even have toilets!
At least on SQ's LCC Scoot, I can buy a beer for SGD9
wow you would expect LOTS of beers from Germany😭🤣

After serious disappointment on three separate occasions years ago Singapore Airlines remains on my "avoid if possible" list along with Qantas. News has just come that Turkish Airlines has approval for many new flights to Australia including Perth. I've never heard anything but good about Turkish Airlines so that's good news.
I cannot wait for TK to come! I prefer IST for transit and also the gold lounge there. I am flying them from Cebu to Istanbul in February

That’s mean I’m Singaporean you take lah! Business class A350 from Singapore to KL!
I flew business class for the first time on Singapore Airlines to Thailand in Feb 2022. Really disappointing! We were told that for an 8 hour flight we could choose to have a late dinner or breakfast, not both. One meal for an 8 hour flight in business class is not acceptable.
They feed you like the galley is overloaded when it's a daylight. But red-eye they are a bit stingy.
Hi Jayden. It’s unusual for Singapore Airlines to leave someone a bit disappointed but I can understand why in this case. I am flying back from Japan with them in April so 🤞🏻 it’s a smooth experience. Top Vlog as always. You really are a Mega night owl. Cheers.

@@JaydenWongI also have a toy grey poodle named Kirby. I call him Mano ..
Singapore Airlines is usually highly ranked....now? Again, as a pilot, I noticed the F/A uniforms and it caused me concern. Those very long skirts? In an emergency they look positively prohibitive...perhaps they use Velcro for a quick removal, in the event of an Evac or worse, ditching in the water???
good question, never thought of that.

I heard quite a lot of complaints regarding miss BTC meals on forums recently, wonder what's going on?!
I wouldn’t have minded the delay as long as there’s communication and we are not held hostage
I’m at Melbourne airport right now. Just landed from ADL. We were half way through boarding and the crew told us to head back to terminal due to adverse weather in MEL. They didn’t know how long the delay would be so rather than holding us onboard or at the gate, they told us to relax in the Qantas club and wait for further PA.
@@JaydenWong terrible weather in Adl and Mel. Safe flight home.
23:36, What, they have Costco in Adelaide? I though you went to Hawaii to go to Costco, but I didn't know they have Costco in Adelaide. I always go to Costco in Hawaii to buy something.
yeah of course, other US shops/fast food we have is Mcdonald's 🤣
Carl's Jr was introduced here just before Covid.
No Starbucks in Adelaide though. People here love their local cafes.
Okay I see.
I make Frappuccinos of all flavours that they don’t even make, at home and for a fraction of the price.

Great to see u back to your 2nd home in the world😆
😂😂
We had a recent American Airlines flight at LHR that was listed as "flight closing" on the board 35 minutes before listed departure time. We ran, but the gate agent told us "oh, it wasn't closing...we just say that so people will be here." (and then when sat on the plane for 45+ minutes before we pushed back) So, I'm not a big fan of airlines not being honest with customers--even worse if there is no bathroom!! In all fairness, the cabin crew on AA did a great job during that flight to KPHL.
So sad seeing 6'4 behind the glass and not with you...
Urgh I hate that! And the thing with many UK airports is that you don’t know the gate number until 30 mins before boarding😩😩
My perspective as a pilot for a major US airline? I'm retired now, but I have seen the Good, Bad and Ugly during my career. There are MANY moving parts behind the scenes, and in passenger service arenas, many opportunities for Human error
I understand this report Jayden but would it be possible to try and do another flight on SQ from Sydney to Singapore or Singapore to sydney on sq?
im sure in the future I will! Meanwhile I've got many other SQ trip reports in my channel, do check them out :)
Sorry but The Pier is far more superior. Maybe The Wing is more on par with the Gold Lounge. You can indeed BTC on SQ to ADL :)
So surprised they have brought back the refreshment service.

When they dropped it on this route it made a huge downgrade for economy.

Jayden. have you visited all the facilities of Changi : restaurants, shops, hawker centers, butterfly house, the Jewel fountain, the entertainment venues, etc?
yes been many times haha
Great vlog.
Why will they check boarding passes again after they have checked it when you enter the holding area? And for the lounge, you get what you pay for!

Hi Jayden I love the back seats on a plane. The meals you got looked ok. Funny I only said to my son last nite I would love to walk around Costco, was it good as I've never been to one.
It was an interesting experience haha. Lots of products that they don’t see in supermarkets. Cheap snacks and petrol too :)
I think the issue is with ground staff rather than SQ.
good point. Very weird. for their foreign ports, they.almost always have a station manager present at check-in and boarding, but at their hub airport, they leave to it SATS
@JaydenWong At overseas ports, it is still the local ground handler running the operations, but with the supervision of the locally hired SQ staff. To be honest, I have not seen an SQ Station Manager at check in or gate in recent years! 😅
At Changi, SQ has a few of their own duty managers working alongside SATS.
Thanks for watching! I only just realised this but there was not even an appetiser (other than the fruit)
Wow, didn't expect they serve the HK branded vitasoy milk for a Singaporean carrier :o
right!!
I fly between SG to US a lot...most people flying have KFEG and lots with PPS and higher. so...
you can see their boarding passes. Also it’s safe the assume not many to ADL are the gold, plus I see many non-priority bags at arrival
@@JaydenWong hahah. Your very attention to detailed
Hi, Jerome! What about a fixed/lapel mic?
I completely agree with you. Everything about their ground service in SIN is so zero star!
Hello Jayden, have a good trip❤
thanks John!
"g'day ONE WORD flyer squad"
HAAAIYAAA nephew Jayden 😂
Entertaining as always 😊 👏
Glad you enjoyed :)
Thank you sir for uploading the video once again 😊😅🎉😂❤❤and what is your next flight video?
haha not sure yet again. Probably Cathay or China Airlines from October. The oldest of my backlog
Wow I am so dam far behind, silly algorithm not giving me you stuff, time to binge!
ahaha I hate the new algorithm!
It got me very nervous even just watched you flew though the cloud, I may need some consulation.
Nice video report. You really can’t go wrong with Singapore Airlines. They set the standard.
I saw your plane on flight radar 24
To be entirely fair to Singapore Airlines, the boarding operations in Singapore Changi airport are handled by SATS, not Singapore Airlines, and while I believe Singapore Airlines used to own a large majority stake in the company, they sold it in 2009 and are no longer related.
how come only 6 hours it took me 7 and a half hours from syd to changi
Sydney is further! Adelaide to Sydney is 1.5-2 hrs
