We had a human watchers paladin in the Princes of the Apocalypse campaign . The aura of the sentinel is great for going first in combat. It was a great pick considering we were fighting cultists and elementals.
How have you been enjoying princess of the apocalypse?
@@TheSinisterheroes It was fun. I played a level 10 wild magic sorcerer/ 2 rogue/ 2 evocation wizard. We also have a light cleric, moon druid, ancients paladin and storm herald barbarian.
What was the character the sorcerer rogue wizard. That’s amazing.
@@TheSinisterheroes Yeah the sorcerer/rogue/wizard was my character. That was the first and only time that I multi-classed with a character. It was fun to throw an empowered fireball at a group and then hide or run away with a bonus action.
I run a buffed version of Watchers that gives a bonus to the Watchers aura (since I feel like it’s fairly inconsequential a lot of the time, moving first is great but it doesn’t do a lot for vibes): Anyone under this aura is always under the effects of the Protection from Evil and Good. At level 15, I give them another aura (replacing their normal rebuke feature): All allies within the aura have advantage on any saving throws made due to an extraplanar being, and if they succeed, the enemy takes force damage equal to their Paladin level. If they fail, the enemy takes half that damage. Both only activate if the enemy is within the aura. I really like the idea of Watchers as the defensive Paladin, as one that isn’t just good at hunting down these creatures (which they get by being more alert/general abilities), but can protect others very well from said creatures. I also typically give them magic items that let them gain extra damage on those types of creatures or gain resistance to their attacks. I know it’s powerful, but it’s specific, and I love the fantasy of having a Paladin whose oath is to protect the world from these otherworldly beings, so their entire kit revolves around that same concept.
Its is strong the aura of protection from good and evil, but at 15th level if you slap a time limit and a proficiency bonus per day I think it’s totally fine
To really add to that bonus to Initiative, grab Fey Touch & with it, Gift of Alacrity. Going first can mean the difference between life & death. I would make a Wood Elf and pick up Wood Elf Magic for Pass without Trace, as well as Medium Armor Master. Going for that DEX-based Paladin than STR-based.
Dex is just too good of a stat. It gives you armor class, it helps initiative sleight of hand, stealth, acrobatics comes in handy with regards to grapples, dex saves are super common and can save lives, not only spells like fireball, but also adventuring and traps. It’s just such a great stat.
This is the perfect subclass to play as Kion from the Disney TV show the Lion guard it fits so well with the who i think Kion is this subclass has so many cool features and it makes me really excited to play this subclass one day and for those who don't know what the lion guard is it's about Simba's son kion who is on this journey to fulfill his destiny as leader of the lion guard and protect the pride lands his specific guard consists of an African honey badger who is the bravest a hippo who is the strongest a crane looking bird who is the keenist of sight and a cheetah who is the fastest and kion who is the fiercest it's actually a really good show highly recommend it. also i have a question will we be reviewing the tal'dorei subclasses from critical role because i have a fantastic blood mage concept to share with you Sin i only ask because most people consider the tal'dorei subclasses as official subclasses for 5e so I'm just curious also my apologies for not replying to your response on the abjuration wizard video it's waiting for you now i didn't notice the last part until now
I have never seen lion guard my little ones haven’t wanted to watch it. Yet so it may happen or not.
I am reaching the end of all the subclasses. My plan was to then do a thing about the base classes. But considering there is official dnd books about them I should. I just haven’t really thought about it.

Or maybe an officer from an organisation ( such as shield or men in black or even scp) that acts as a border guard protecting the realm from outer realms

I'm playing a gold dragonborn watcher paladin dedicated to Bahamut - not sinister yet but he currently has a devil warlock tattoo that allows him to wield a celestial weapon, so who knows? It was tricky since he needed to wield the weapon to defeat the bigger threat so he made a deal with a devil.
Ooooooo depending on your DM that could be a dark opportunity to really mess with your character which I absolutely love.

@@TheSinisterheroes - yeah, I'm interested to see where he (DM) takes it. I'm totally down for a LN shift from LG. I'd even accept the oathbreaker subclass as a consequence.

I have heard that before. I have been seeing a lot of comments about 40k lore. I believe it is going to be a time when I need to do some research.
