On our seafaring home game my Scout is a diving expert, it's a lot of fun. Only level 4, so as a ranged gunslinging pirate, I'm enjoying Skirmisher, as I can then use Steady Aim. I'm landing lots of crits!

That advantage makes a huge difference. Especially for rogues. If you don’t crit you still at least are applying sustained damage, which is a big deal in longer fights.

I like this subclass. It pairs up really well with high mobility builds. Monks and Rangers, especially the GloomStalker.
Straight Rogues aren’t usually my way to play, but you can go deep with several subclasses and feel pretty good about having abilities beyond the usual rogue basics.
Arcane Tricksters, Phantom, Soulknife, Scout and Swashbuckler are the standout ones in my opinion.

Most people will totally agree with you. It is a very popular opinion to not stay rogue all the way. They almost always dip into rangers bards or monks.

I like this if only for the reason it reminds me of the specialized Kirath class. Back when you mostly played a role tied to a purpose

I like having character themes connect to classes

The bugbear's ambush trait synergizes so well with this subclass with the scout you are stronger the sooner that you can make an attack so preferably before your opponents which the Ambush trait enhances even further since it works a similar way and the additional reach helps a lot also I noticed it has been a while since I posted my warlock subclass on the 1D&D part 2 video and I'm just curious about how that's going again I'm sorry it is a really long subclass to shift through next subclass will be much less wordy I promise

The bugbear is surprisingly built with a lot of synergies with the rogue subclass so they go very hand in hand.
That post has so many moving parts to it it’s difficult to like understand and then formulate an opinion but I will probably have it done by tomorrow. But it is massive in scope.

@@TheSinisterheroes yeah my bad on that the Sorcerer subclass will be more simplified and I think you'll like it

We have a wood elf scout rogue in the wild beyond the witchlight. Last game she was shooting from a tree and she figured out that it was an awakened tree. The skirmisher ability comes in handy when creatures get in melee position of her.

It’s definitely a trade off but that extra distance can get you to seriously cover some ground.

Scout Rogue = Best Mobile Grappler (Tavern Brawler) with Expertise in Athletics.
Grab a person, run away. KO them with Melee Attacks, then you running with them unconscious on your shoulder for 1D4 hours.
I'd probably make a Loxodon Scout Rogue for that extra Trunk's Grappling.

lol that’s kidnapping I am pretty sure. 🤣😂🤣 federal crimes aside with expertise and a larger character like a loxodon you could just be throwing people off cliffs and into traps. Which is rather unique for a rogue.
