  • This video shows how to do a basic cable stitch in crochet. This cable stitch has 6 post-stitches, and tilts in the rightward direction. The Aberdeen Cable Blanket is shown on the video thumbnail. This pattern uses the stitch in this video and can be accessed at the links below:

    I have the written pattern but find it hard to work out ,you need to do a full tutorial for the money we spent

    Guys, the reason the video is confusing is because the pattern itself isn't free. The video helps clarify for the pattern with the massive cable in the center: it's not supposed to outright give you the pattern, it just guides you on how the crosses work. If you've bought the pattern it would make much more sense.

    After many hours, I've figured it out!!! If she says around any stitch, it means post, not the top stitch you would normally work into. Hope that's helpful.
    My best advice is to print out the instructions so you can have the definitions next to the step by step. Make sure when you are wrapping around the post and to check the instructions to see if you are working in front or behind what you had just made it changes often.
    The printout also helps alot with the definitions that have abbreviation in them as well to keep track of what needs to be done.

    Honestly thankyou for this, its a nice short cut reference to see exactly where I'm supposed to be building the intricate stitches. I've been trying to accomplish an unrelated cable for years and its been sitting on basically the last row in the video. I was having a hard time with the concept of "behind the other stitches but still a front post".
    Thankyou for this little tidbit lol.

    It looks like she is doing extended treble stitches in the beginning? - yarns over twice, but the post of the stitch is four loops high. (I understand this video is for a pattern that's separate from the video, it is a support video for the pattern. But I just clicked on it to see how she was doing the cables.)

    A tutorial on properly BPS in the six stitches just explained would be so helpful 😊.

    Is that supposed to be a front post treble crochet or something different? A fptc is yarn over twice, pull through 2 loops, yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over and pull through the last two loops. I've never seen it being pulled through just one loop first. What stitch is that? Also, the lighting and angle are a little hard to see. Zoom helps a lot, though. What is the stitch count for this pattern if we want to expand it? How many stitches plus what to change the size? I'd love to try a blanket on this with a repetitive pattern. It's gorgeous. Thank you for sharing! :)

      It took me awhile to figure it out but finally mastered it.
      Skip a stitch, TFPS in next stitch, work behind the TFPS and put a single crochet in the skip stitch, skip the next stitch (after the TFPS) and single crochet in the next stitch, TFPS in skipped stitch and in front of the single crochet just made. I hope this helps. I found it easier to follow the diagram.
      My sister in-law asked if I could make this in a king size for her. Right now I'm making king size wide and 15 rows tall sample to see how much yarn will need to be ordered. Good luck. Sorry it took me so long to reply. Have a great day!

      I should have mentioned that I'm left-handed. So my work goes from left to right. I don't know if it will make a difference with the skinny braid or not. I'll try to crochet it right handed and I'll let you how if the stitches are the same or should be reversed.

    • @tamaral1259
      @tamaral1259 3 года назад +1

      Okay I failed at right handed crocheting. Try it this way.
      Skip a stitch
      TFPS in next stitch
      Single in the skipped stitch behind TFPS
      Skip a stitch
      Single crochet in next stitch
      TFPS in the skipped stitch in front of the single crochet.
      Let me know if you were able to mastered the stitch or not.
      Good luck and have a great day!

    Very confusing tutorial. Quite disjointed, too much talking not enough showing step-by-step row by row. I'm not a novice and I gave up and found a clearer tutorial

      This isn’t a tutorial. This is her clarifying the pattern she created and is selling. It’s not meant to give you the pattern, she’s just clarifying her pattern which you need to buy

    • @user-hw7cw9kj7r
      @user-hw7cw9kj7r 2 года назад +5

      @@idk-ji5og She could have clarified a little clearer, with a steady camera from up close, don't you think? Especially when she sells it.

    I’m not sure she’s doing this correctly. I think you yo, pull through one, then yo, pull through two 3 times, not yo pull through one, then yo pull through one, then yo pull through 3 times. It’s also a little clunky the way she does the back post crochets. I’ve crocheted a few blankets that had those beautiful braids. It should lay very flat and smoothly and not “pull” to a side.

    This video is so misleading and only a come-on for her Ravelry page. All you learn here is a basic cable stitch, the same one you can learn on almost any other crochet channel-- and taught a lot better than she does here. It is NOT the Aberdeen Cable Blanket shown in the thumbnail. That goes against RUclips policy because the thumbnail is supposed to be relevant to the content. Because of this, it is very offensive and, clearly, Rebecca does not understand how RUclips works.
    I wouldn't even mind buying the pattern but WAS IT TESTED? After it was written, did the designer give it to someone who had never done the pattern before and, following only those instructions, successfully produce the same item? Back in the old days of real publication, this used to be a standard part of the publishing process for any kind of instructions. It is the key element often overlooked today. And we suffer for it.
    WAS THIS TESTED?

    Your instructions should go hand-in hand with your work. It's difficult to follow when the talk comes first.
